   The word that the LORD spake against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet.

   Declare ye among the nations, and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and conceal not: say, Babylon is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken in pieces; her idols are confounded, her images are broken in pieces.

   כִּיkiforעָלָהa/LAhas come upעָלֶיהָa/LE/haagainst herגּוֹיgoya nationמִצָּפוֹןmits/tsa/FONfrom the northהוּא־יָשִׁיתhu-ya/SHITwhich will makeאֶת־אַרְצָהּet-ar/TSAits landלְשַׁמָּהle/sham/MAa desolationוְלֹא־יִהְיֶהve/LO-yih/YEand none willיוֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVdwellבָּהּbain itמֵאָדָםme/a/DAMboth manוְעַד־בְּהֵמָהve/AD-be/he/MAand beastנָדוּNA/duhave fledהָלָכוּ׃ha/LA/khuthey are gone

   For out of the north there cometh up a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell therein: they shall remove, they shall depart, both man and beast.

   In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping: they shall go, and seek the LORD their God.

   צִיּוֹןTsiy/YONZionיִשְׁאָלוּyish/A/luthey will askדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhthe wayהֵנָּהHEN/nahereפְנֵיהֶםfe/ne/HEMwith their facesבֹּאוּBO/ucomeוְנִלְווּve/nil/VUand let us joinאֶל־יְהֹוָהel-Adonaito the LORDבְּרִיתbe/RITin a covenantעוֹלָםo/LAMeverlastingלֹאlonotתִשָּׁכֵחַ׃tish/sha/KHE/achbe forgotten

   They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces thitherward, saying, Come, and let us join ourselves to the LORD in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten.

   צֹאןtsonsheepאֹבְדוֹתov/DOTlost(היה)hayah[הָיוּ]ha/YUhave beenעַמִּיam/MImy peopleרֹעֵיהֶםro/e/HEMtheir shepherdsהִתְעוּםhit/UMhave led them astrayהָרִיםha/RIMon the mountains(שובבים)shavavavayam[שׁוֹבְבוּם]shov/VUMthey have turned them awayמֵהַרme/HARfrom mountainאֶל־גִּבְעָהel-giv/Ato a hillהָלָכוּha/LA/khuthey have goneשָׁכְחוּsha/khe/CHUthey have forgottenרִבְצָם׃riv/TSAMtheir fold

   My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace.

   כׇּל־מוֹצְאֵיהֶםkol-mots/e/HEMall who found themאֲכָלוּםa/kha/LUMhave devoured themוְצָרֵיהֶםve/tsa/re/HEMand their adversariesאָמְרוּa/me/RUthey saidלֹאlonotנֶאְשָׁםne/SHAMwe are guiltyתַּחַתTA/chatbecauseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatחָטְאוּcha/te/Uthey have sinnedלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaiagainst the LORDנְוֵה־צֶדֶקne/VE-TSE/dekthe dwelling of righteousnessוּמִקְוֵהu/mik/VEand the hope ofאֲבוֹתֵיהֶםa/vo/te/HEMtheir fathersיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

   All that found them have devoured them: and their adversaries said, We offend not, because they have sinned against the LORD, the habitation of justice, even the LORD, the hope of their fathers.

   נֻדוּNU/dufleeמִתּוֹךְmit/TOKHfrom the midst ofבָּבֶלBa/VELBabylonוּמֵאֶרֶץu/me/E/retsand from the land ofכַּשְׂדִּיםkaS/DIMthe Chaldeans(יצאו)yatsv[צֵאוּ]TSE/ugo outוִהְיוּvih/YUand beכְּעַתּוּדִיםke/at/tu/DIMlike male goatsלִפְנֵי־צֹאן׃lif/NE-tsonbefore flocks

   Remove out of the midst of Babylon, and go forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as the he goats before the flocks.

   כִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIמֵעִירme/IRwill stir upוּמַעֲלֶהu/ma/a/LEand bring upעַל־בָּבֶלal-Ba/VELagainst Babylonקְהַל־גּוֹיִםke/HAL-go/YIMan assembly of nationsגְּדֹלִיםge/do/LIMgreatמֵאֶרֶץme/E/retsfrom the land ofצָפוֹןtsa/FONthe northוְעָרְכוּve/a/re/KHUand they will set themselves in arrayלָהּlaagainst herמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereתִּלָּכֵדtil/la/KHEDshe will be takenחִצָּיוchits/TSAYVtheir arrowsכְּגִבּוֹרke/gib/BORare like a warriorמַשְׁכִּילmash/KILskilledלֹאlonotיָשׁוּבya/SHUVreturnsרֵיקָם׃re/KAMempty

   For, lo, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country: and they shall set themselves in array against her; from thence she shall be taken: their arrows shall be as of a mighty expert man; none shall return in vain.

    וְהָיְתָהve/ha/ye/TAand will beכַשְׂדִּיםKhas/DIMChaldeaלְשָׁלָלle/sha/LALplunderכׇּל־שֹׁלְלֶיהָkol-shol/LE/haall those who plunder itיִשְׂבָּעוּyis/BA/uwill be satisfiedנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃ne/UM-Adonaisays the LORD

    And Chaldea shall be a spoil: all that spoil her shall be satisfied, saith the LORD.

    כִּיkibecause(תשמחי)tashamachay[תִשְׂמְחוּ]tis/me/CHUyou are gladכִּיkibecause(תעלזי)tlazay[תַעַלְזוּ]ta/al/ZUyou rejoiceשֹׁסֵיsho/SEO plunderers ofנַחֲלָתִיna/cha/la/TImy inheritanceכִּיkibecause[תָפוּשׁוּ]ta/fu/SHUyou friskכְּעֶגְלָהke/eg/LAlike a heiferדָשָׁהda/SHAat grass[וְתִצְהֲלוּ]ve/tits/ha/LUand neighכָּאַבִּרִים׃ka/ab/bi/RIMlike stallions

    Because ye were glad, because ye rejoiced, O ye destroyers of mine heritage, because ye are grown fat as the heifer at grass, and bellow as bulls;

    בּוֹשָׁהBO/shais ashamedאִמְּכֶםim/me/KHEMyour motherמְאֹדme/ODgreatlyחָפְרָהcha/fe/RAis disgracedיוֹלַדְתְּכֶםyo/lad/te/KHEMshe who bore youהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאַחֲרִיתa/cha/RITthe last ofגּוֹיִםgo/YIMnationsמִדְבָּרmid/BARa wildernessצִיָּהtsiy/YAa dry landוַעֲרָבָה׃va/a/ra/VAand a desert

    Your mother shall be sore confounded; she that bare you shall be ashamed: behold, the hindermost of the nations shall be a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert.

13. 13

    מִקֶּצֶףmik/KE/tsefbecause of the wrath ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלֹאlonotתֵשֵׁבte/SHEVwill be inhabitedוְהָיְתָהve/ha/ye/TAbut will beשְׁמָמָהshe/ma/MAa desolationכֻּלָּהּkul/LAwhollyכֹּלkoleveryoneעֹבֵרo/VERwho passesעַל־בָּבֶלal-Ba/VELby Babylonיִשֹּׁםyish/SHOMwill be appalledוְיִשְׁרֹקve/yish/ROKand hissעַל־כׇּל־מַכּוֹתֶיהָ׃al-kol-mak/ko/TE/haat all her plagues

    Because of the wrath of the LORD it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate: every one that goeth by Babylon shall be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues.

    עִרְכוּir/KHUset yourselves in arrayעַל־בָּבֶלal-Ba/VELagainst Babylonסָבִיבsa/VIVall aroundכׇּל־דֹּרְכֵיkol-DOR/kheall who bendקֶשֶׁתKE/shetthe bowיְדוּye/DUshootאֵלֶיהָe/LE/haat herאַל־תַּחְמְלוּal-tach/me/LUspareאֶל־חֵץel-chetsno arrowsכִּיkiforלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaiagainst the LORDחָטָאָה׃cha/TA/ashe has sinned

    Put yourselves in array against Babylon round about: all ye that bend the bow, shoot at her, spare no arrows: for she hath sinned against the LORD.

    הָרִיעוּha/RI/ushoutעָלֶיהָa/LE/haagainst herסָבִיבsa/VIVall aroundנָתְנָהna/te/NAshe has givenיָדָהּya/DAher handנָפְלוּna/fe/LUhave fallen[אׇשְׁיוֹתֶיהָ]osh/yo/TE/haher buttressesנֶהֶרְסוּne/her/SUare thrown downחוֹמוֹתֶיהָcho/mo/TE/haits wallsכִּיkiforנִקְמַתnik/MATthe vengeance ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהִיאhiit isהִנָּקְמוּhin/NAK/mutake vengeanceבָהּvaon herכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasעָשְׂתָהa/se/TAshe has doneעֲשׂוּ־לָהּ׃a/SU-lado to her

    Shout against her round about: she hath given her hand: her foundations are fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the vengeance of the LORD: take vengeance upon her; as she hath done, do unto her.

    כִּרְתוּkir/TUcut offזוֹרֵעַzo/RE/athe sowerמִבָּבֶלmib/Ba/VELfrom Babylonוְתֹפֵשׂve/to/FESand him who handlesמַגָּלmag/GALthe sickleבְּעֵתbe/ETin the time ofקָצִירka/TSIRharvestמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEfor fear ofחֶרֶבCHE/revthe sword ofהַיּוֹנָהhay/yo/NAthe oppressorאִישׁisheachאֶל־עַמּוֹel-am/MOto his peopleיִפְנוּyif/NUthey will turnוְאִישׁve/ISHand eachלְאַרְצוֹle/ar/TSOto his own landיָנֻסוּ׃ya/NU/suthey will flee

    Cut off the sower from Babylon, and him that handleth the sickle in the time of harvest: for fear of the oppressing sword they shall turn every one to his people, and they shall flee every one to his own land.

    שֶׂהsea sheepפְזוּרָהfe/zu/RAscatteredיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֲרָיוֹתa/ra/YOTlionsהִדִּיחוּhid/DI/chuhave driven him awayהָרִאשׁוֹןha/ri/SHONfirstאֲכָלוֹa/KHA/lodevoured himמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofאַשּׁוּרAsh/SHURAssyriaוְזֶהve/ZEand thisהָאַחֲרוֹןha/a/cha/RONlastעִצְּמוֹits/tse/MOhas broken his bonesנְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּרNe/vu/khad/re/TSARNebuchadrezzarמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofבָּבֶל׃Ba/VELBabylon

    Israel is a scattered sheep; the lions have driven him away: first the king of Assyria hath devoured him; and last this Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath broken his bones.

18. 18

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeכֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iפֹקֵדfo/KEDwill punishאֶל־מֶלֶךְel-ME/lekhthe king ofבָּבֶלBa/VELBabylonוְאֶל־אַרְצוֹve/EL-ar/TSOand his landכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasפָּקַדְתִּיpa/KAD/tiI punishedאֶל־מֶלֶךְel-ME/lekhthe king ofאַשּׁוּר׃Ash/SHURAssyria

    Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria.

19. 19

    וְשֹׁבַבְתִּיve/sho/vav/TIand I will bring backאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Yis/ra/ELIsraelאֶל־נָוֵהוּel-na/VE/huto his pastureוְרָעָהve/ra/Aand he will feed onהַכַּרְמֶלHak/kar/MELCarmelוְהַבָּשָׁןve/hab/Ba/SHANand Bashanוּבְהַרu/ve/HARand on MountאֶפְרַיִםEf/RA/yimEphraimוְהַגִּלְעָדve/hag/Gil/ADand Gileadתִּשְׂבַּעtis/BAwill be satisfiedנַפְשׁוֹ׃naf/SHOhis soul

    And I will bring Israel again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied upon mount Ephraim and Gilead.

    בַּיָּמִיםbay/ya/MIMin the daysהָהֵםha/HEMthoseוּבָעֵתu/va/ETand at the timeהַהִיאha/HIthatנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDיְבֻקַּשׁye/vuk/KASHwill be soughtאֶת־עֲוֺןet-a/VONthe iniquity ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוְאֵינֶנּוּve/e/NEN/nuand there will be noneוְאֶת־חַטֹּאתve/ET-chat/TOTand the sins ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahוְלֹאve/LOand notתִמָּצֶאינָהtim/ma/TSEY/nawill they be foundכִּיkiforאֶסְלַחes/LACHI will pardonלַאֲשֶׁרla/a/SHERthose whomאַשְׁאִיר׃ash/IRI leave

    In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve.

21. 21

    עַל־הָאָרֶץal-ha/A/retsagainst the land ofמְרָתַיִםMe/ra/TA/yimMerathaimעֲלֵהa/LEgo upעָלֶיהָa/LE/haagainst itוְאֶל־יוֹשְׁבֵיve/EL-yosh/VEand against the inhabitants ofפְּקוֹדPe/KODPekodחֲרֹבcha/ROVslayוְהַחֲרֵםve/ha/cha/REMand devote to destructionאַחֲרֵיהֶםa/cha/re/HEMafter themנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDוַעֲשֵׂהva/a/SEand doכְּכֹלke/KHOLaccording to allאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatצִוִּיתִיךָ׃tsiv/vi/TI/khaI commanded you

    Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: waste and utterly destroy after them, saith the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded thee.

    קוֹלkolthe sound ofמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAwarבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landוְשֶׁבֶרve/SHE/verand of destructionגָּדוֹל׃ga/DOLgreat

    A sound of battle is in the land, and of great destruction.

23. 23

    אֵיךְekhhowנִגְדַּעnig/DAis cut downוַיִּשָּׁבֵרvay/yish/sha/VERand brokenפַּטִּישׁpat/TISHthe hammer ofכׇּל־הָאָרֶץkol-ha/A/retsall the earthאֵיךְekhhowהָיְתָהha/ye/TAhas becomeלְשַׁמָּהle/sham/MAa horrorבָּבֶלBa/VELBabylonבַּגּוֹיִם׃bag/go/YIMamong the nations

    How is the hammer of the whole earth cut asunder and broken! how is Babylon become a desolation among the nations!

24. 24

    יָקֹשְׁתִּיya/KOSH/tiI laid a snareלָךְlakhfor youוְגַם־נִלְכַּדְתְּve/GAM-nil/KADTand you were takenבָּבֶלba/VELO Babylonוְאַתְּve/ATTand youלֹאlonotיָדָעַתְּya/DA/attdid know itנִמְצֵאתnim/TSETyou were foundוְגַם־נִתְפַּשְׂתְּve/GAM-nit/PASTand also caughtכִּיkibecauseבַיהֹוָהba-Adonaiagainst the LORDהִתְגָּרִית׃hit/ga/RITyou have contended

    I have laid a snare for thee, and thou art also taken, O Babylon, and thou wast not aware: thou art found, and also caught, because thou hast striven against the LORD.

25. 25

    פָּתַחpa/TACHhas openedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־אוֹצָרוֹet-o/tsa/ROHis armoryוַיּוֹצֵאvay/yo/TSEand brought outאֶת־כְּלֵיet-ke/LEthe weapons ofזַעְמוֹza/MOHis indignationכִּי־מְלָאכָהki-me/la/KHAfor a workהִיאhithis isלַאדֹנָיla/do/NAYfor the LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofכַּשְׂדִּים׃kaS/DIMthe Chaldeans

    The LORD hath opened his armoury, and hath brought forth the weapons of his indignation: for this is the work of the Lord GOD of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans.

26. 26

    בֹּאוּ־לָהּBO/u-lacome against herמִקֵּץmik/KETSfrom the farthest borderפִּתְחוּpit/CHUopenמַאֲבֻסֶיהָma/a/vu/SE/haits granariesסׇלּוּהָsol/LU/hapile her upכְמוֹ־עֲרֵמִיםkhe/MO-a/re/MIMlike heapsוְהַחֲרִימוּהָve/ha/cha/ri/MU/haand devote her to destructionאַל־תְּהִי־לָהּal-te/HI-lalet there not be for herשְׁאֵרִית׃she/e/RITa remnant

    Come against her from the utmost border, open her storehouses: cast her up as heaps, and destroy her utterly: let nothing of her be left.

27. 27

    חִרְבוּchir/VUslayכׇּל־פָּרֶיהָkol-pa/RE/haall her bullsיֵרְדוּyer/DUlet them go downלַטָּבַחlat/TA/vachto the slaughterהוֹיhoywoeעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themכִּי־בָאki-vafor has comeיוֹמָםyo/MAMtheir dayעֵתetthe time ofפְּקֻדָּתָם׃pe/kud/da/TAMtheir punishment

    Slay all her bullocks; let them go down to the slaughter: woe unto them! for their day is come, the time of their visitation.

    קוֹלkolthe voice ofנָסִיםna/SIMthose who fleeוּפְלֵטִיםu/fe/le/TIMand escapeמֵאֶרֶץme/E/retsfrom the land ofבָּבֶלBa/VELBabylonלְהַגִּידle/hag/GIDto declareבְּצִיּוֹןbe/Tsiy/YONin Zionאֶת־נִקְמַתet-nik/MATthe vengeance ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵינוּe/lo/HE/nuour Godנִקְמַתnik/MATthe vengeance ofהֵיכָלוֹ׃he/kha/LOHis temple

    The voice of them that flee and escape out of the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our God, the vengeance of his temple.

    הַשְׁמִיעוּhash/MI/usummonאֶל־בָּבֶלel-Ba/VELagainst Babylonרַבִּיםrab/BIMarchersכׇּל־דֹּרְכֵיkol-DOR/kheall who bendקֶשֶׁתKE/shetthe bowחֲנוּcha/NUencampעָלֶיהָa/LE/haagainst herסָבִיבsa/VIVall aroundאַל־יְהִי־[לָהּ]al-ye/HI-lalet there be noפְּלֵיטָהpe/le/TAescapeשַׁלְּמוּ־לָהּshal/le/MU-larepay herכְּפׇעֳלָהּke/fo/o/LAaccording to her workכְּכֹלke/KHOLaccording to allאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעָשְׂתָהa/se/TAshe has doneעֲשׂוּ־לָהּa/SU-lado to herכִּיkiforאֶל־יְהֹוָהel-Adonaiagainst the LORDזָדָהZA/dashe has been arrogantאֶל־קְדוֹשׁel-Ke/DOSHagainst the Holy One ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    Call together the archers against Babylon: all ye that bend the bow, camp against it round about; let none thereof escape: recompense her according to her work; according to all that she hath done, do unto her: for she hath been proud against the LORD, against the Holy One of Israel.

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeיִפְּלוּyip/pe/LUwill fallבַחוּרֶיהָva/chu/RE/haits young menבִּרְחֹבֹתֶיהָbir/cho/vo/TE/hain her squaresוְכׇל־אַנְשֵׁיve/KHOL-an/SHEand all her men ofמִלְחַמְתָּהּmil/cham/TAwarיִדַּמּוּyid/DAM/muwill be silencedבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMin the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃ne/UM-Adonaisays the LORD

    Therefore shall her young men fall in the streets, and all her men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD.

31. 31

    הִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khaagainst youזָדוֹןza/DONO arrogant oneנְאֻם־אֲדֹנָיne/UM-a/do/NAYsays the LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsכִּיkiforבָּאbahas comeיוֹמְךָyom/KHAyour dayעֵתetthe timeפְּקַדְתִּיךָ׃pe/kad/TI/khaI will punish you

    Behold, I am against thee, O thou most proud, saith the Lord GOD of hosts: for thy day is come, the time that I will visit thee.

32. 32

    וְכָשַׁלve/kha/SHALand will stumbleזָדוֹןza/DONthe arrogant oneוְנָפַלve/na/FALand shall fallוְאֵיןve/ENwith no oneלוֹlotoמֵקִיםme/KIMraise him upוְהִצַּתִּיve/hits/TSAT/tiand I will kindleאֵשׁeshfireבְּעָרָיוbe/a/RAYVin his citiesוְאׇכְלָהve/okh/LAand shall devourכׇּל־סְבִיבֹתָיו׃kol-se/vi/vo/TAYVall around him

    And the most proud shall stumble and fall, and none shall raise him up: and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all round about him.

33. 33

    כֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsעֲשׁוּקִיםa/shu/KIMare oppressedבְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלbe/NE-yis/ra/ELthe sons of Israelוּבְנֵי־יְהוּדָהu/ve/NE-ye/hu/DAand the sons of Judahיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherוְכׇל־שֹׁבֵיהֶםve/KHOL-sho/ve/HEMand all who took them captiveהֶחֱזִיקוּhe/che/ZI/kuhave held fastבָםvamto themמֵאֲנוּme/a/NUthey refusedשַׁלְּחָם׃shal/le/CHAMto let them go

    Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The children of Israel and the children of Judah were oppressed together: and all that took them captives held them fast; they refused to let them go.

34. 34

    גֹּאֲלָםGo/a/LAMtheir Redeemerחָזָקcha/ZAKis strongיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsשְׁמוֹshe/MOis His nameרִיבrivpleadיָרִיבya/RIVHe will pleadאֶת־רִיבָםet-ri/VAMtheir causeלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatהִרְגִּיעַhir/GI/aHe may give restאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe landוְהִרְגִּיזve/hir/GIZand disquietלְיֹשְׁבֵיle/yosh/VEthe inhabitants ofבָבֶל׃Va/VELBabylon

    Their Redeemer is strong; the LORD of hosts is his name: he shall throughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.

35. 35

    חֶרֶבCHE/reva sword isעַל־כַּשְׂדִּיםal-Kas/DIMagainst the Chaldeansנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDוְאֶל־יֹשְׁבֵיve/EL-yosh/VEand against the inhabitants ofבָבֶלVa/VELBabylonוְאֶל־שָׂרֶיהָve/EL-sa/RE/haand against her princesוְאֶל־חֲכָמֶיהָ׃ve/EL-cha/kha/ME/haand against her wise men

    A sword is upon the Chaldeans, saith the LORD, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon, and upon her princes, and upon her wise men.

36. 36

    חֶרֶבCHE/reva sword isאֶל־הַבַּדִּיםel-hab/bad/DIMagainst the boastersוְנֹאָלוּve/no/A/luand they will become foolsחֶרֶבCHE/reva sword isאֶל־גִּבּוֹרֶיהָel-gib/bo/RE/haagainst her mighty menוָחָתּוּ׃va/CHAT/tuand they will be dismayed

    A sword is upon the liars; and they shall dote: a sword is upon her mighty men; and they shall be dismayed.

37. 37

    חֶרֶבCHE/reva sword isאֶל־סוּסָיוel-su/SAYVagainst their horsesוְאֶל־רִכְבּוֹve/EL-rikh/BOand against their chariotsוְאֶל־כׇּל־הָעֶרֶבve/EL-kol-ha/E/revand against all the mixed peopleאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho areבְּתוֹכָהּbe/to/KHAin its midstוְהָיוּve/ha/YUand they will becomeלְנָשִׁיםle/na/SHIMwomenחֶרֶבCHE/reva sword isאֶל־אוֹצְרֹתֶיהָel-ots/ro/TE/haagainst her treasuresוּבֻזָּזוּ׃u/vuz/ZA/zuand they will be plundered

    A sword is upon their horses, and upon their chariots, and upon all the mingled people that are in the midst of her; and they shall become as women: a sword is upon her treasures; and they shall be robbed.

38. 38

    חֹרֶבCHO/reva drought isאֶל־מֵימֶיהָel-me/ME/haon her watersוְיָבֵשׁוּve/ya/VE/shuand they will dry upכִּיkiforאֶרֶץE/retsa land ofפְּסִלִיםpe/si/LIMidolsהִיאhiit isוּבָאֵימִיםu/va/e/MIMand over idolsיִתְהֹלָלוּ׃yit/ho/LA/luthey are mad

    A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up: for it is the land of graven images, and they are mad upon their idols.

39. 39

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeיֵשְׁבוּyesh/VUwill dwellצִיִּיםtsiy/YIMdesert creaturesאֶת־אִיִּיםet-iy/YIMwith jackalsוְיָשְׁבוּve/ya/she/VUand will dwellבָהּvain itבְּנוֹתbe/NOTthe daughters ofיַעֲנָהya/a/NAthe ostrichוְלֹא־תֵשֵׁבve/LO-te/SHEVand it will not be inhabitedעוֹדodagainלָנֶצַחla/NE/tsachforeverוְלֹאve/LOnorתִשְׁכּוֹןtish/KONbe dwelt inעַד־דּוֹרad-dorto generationוָדֹר׃va/DORand generation

    Therefore the wild beasts of the desert with the wild beasts of the islands shall dwell there, and the owls shall dwell therein: and it shall be no more inhabited for ever; neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation.

40. 40

    כְּמַהְפֵּכַתke/mah/pe/KHATas the overthrow ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶת־סְדֹםet-Se/DOMSodomוְאֶת־עֲמֹרָהve/ET-a/mo/RAand Gomorrahוְאֶת־שְׁכֵנֶיהָve/ET-she/khe/NE/haand its neighborsנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDלֹא־יֵשֵׁבlo-ye/SHEVno one will dwellשָׁםshamthereאִישׁishanyoneוְלֹא־יָגוּרve/LO-ya/GURnor sojournבָּהּbain itבֶּן־אָדָם׃ben-a/DAMson of man

    As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD; so shall no man abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein.

41. 41

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdעַםama peopleבָּאbais comingמִצָּפוֹןmits/tsa/FONfrom the northוְגוֹיve/GOYand a nationגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatוּמְלָכִיםu/me/la/KHIMand kingsרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyיֵעֹרוּye/O/ruwill be stirred upמִיַּרְכְּתֵי־אָרֶץ׃miy/yar/ke/TE-A/retsfrom the innermost parts of the earth

    Behold, a people shall come from the north, and a great nation, and many kings shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.

42. 42

    קֶשֶׁתKE/sheta bowוְכִידֹןve/khi/DONand spearיַחֲזִיקוּya/cha/ZI/kuthey lay hold onאַכְזָרִיakh/za/RIcruelהֵמָּהHEM/mathey areוְלֹאve/LOand notיְרַחֵמוּye/ra/CHE/muhave mercyקוֹלָםko/LAMtheir voiceכַּיָּםkay/YAMlike the seaיֶהֱמֶהye/he/MEroarsוְעַל־סוּסִיםve/AL-su/SIMand upon horsesיִרְכָּבוּyir/KA/vuthey rideעָרוּךְa/RUKHset in arrayכְּאִישׁke/ISHas menלַמִּלְחָמָהlam/mil/cha/MAfor battleעָלַיִךְa/LA/yikhagainst youבַּת־בָּבֶל׃bat-Ba/VELO daughter of Babylon

    They shall hold the bow and the lance: they are cruel, and will not shew mercy: their voice shall roar like the sea, and they shall ride upon horses, every one put in array, like a man to the battle, against thee, O daughter of Babylon.

43. 43

    שָׁמַעsha/MAhas heardמֶלֶךְ־בָּבֶלME/lekh-Ba/VELking of Babylonאֶת־שִׁמְעָםet-shim/AMthe report of themוְרָפוּve/ra/FUand grow feebleיָדָיוya/DAYVhis handsצָרָהtsa/RAanguishהֶחֱזִיקַתְהוּhe/che/zi/KAT/huhas seized himחִילchilpainכַּיּוֹלֵדָה׃kay/yo/le/DAas of a woman in labor

    The king of Babylon hath heard the report of them, and his hands waxed feeble: anguish took hold of him, and pangs as of a woman in travail.

44. 44

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdכְּאַרְיֵהke/ar/YElike a lionיַעֲלֶהya/a/LEhe will come upמִגְּאוֹןmig/ge/ONfrom the thickets ofהַיַּרְדֵּןhay/Yar/DENthe Jordanאֶל־נְוֵהel-ne/VEagainst a pastureאֵיתָןe/TANperennialכִּי־אַרְגִּעָהki-ar/GI/afor in an instant[אֲרִיצֵם]a/ri/TSEMI will make them runמֵעָלֶיהָme/a/LE/hafrom herוּמִיu/MIand whoeverבָחוּרva/CHURis chosenאֵלֶיהָe/LE/haover herאֶפְקֹדef/KODI will appointכִּיkiforמִיmiwhoכָמוֹנִיkha/MO/niis like meוּמִיu/MIand whoיוֹעִדֶנִּיyo/i/DEN/niwill summon meוּמִי־זֶהu/MI-zeand who is thisרֹעֶהro/Eis the shepherdאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoיַעֲמֹדya/a/MODcan standלְפָנָי׃le/fa/NAYbefore me

    Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan unto the habitation of the strong: but I will make them suddenly run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?

45. 45

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeשִׁמְעוּshim/Uhearעֲצַת־יְהֹוָהa/TSAT-Adonaithe counsel of the LORDאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיָעַץya/ATSHe has counseledאֶל־בָבֶלel-Va/VELagainst Babylonוּמַחְשְׁבוֹתָיוu/mach/she/vo/TAYVand his purposesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatחָשַׁבcha/SHAVHe has purposedאֶל־אֶרֶץel-E/retsagainst the land ofכַּשְׂדִּיםkaS/DIMthe Chaldeansאִם־לֹאim-losurelyיִסְחָבוּםyis/cha/VUMwill drag them awayצְעִירֵיtse/i/REthe little ones ofהַצֹּאןhats/TSONthe flockאִם־לֹאim-losurelyיַשִּׁיםyash/SHIMwill be appalledעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMat themנָוֶה׃na/VEthe pasture

    Therefore hear ye the counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitation desolate with them.

46. 46

    מִקּוֹלmik/KOLat the soundנִתְפְּשָׂהnit/pe/SAis takenבָבֶלVa/VELBabylonנִרְעֲשָׁהnir/a/SHAtremblesהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe earthוּזְעָקָהu/ze/a/KAand the cryבַּגּוֹיִםbag/go/YIMamong the nationsנִשְׁמָע׃nish/MAis heard

    At the noise of the taking of Babylon the earth is moved, and the cry is heard among the nations.
