   Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it.

   וְאִםve/IMand thoughחַי־יְהֹוָהchay-Adonaias the LORD livesיֹאמֵרוּyo/ME/ruthey sayלָכֵןla/KHENsurelyלַשֶּׁקֶרlash/SHE/kerfalselyיִשָּׁבֵעוּ׃yish/sha/VE/uthey swear

   And though they say, The LORD liveth; surely they swear falsely.

   יְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDעֵינֶיךָe/NE/khaYour eyesהֲלוֹאha/LOare they notלֶאֱמוּנָהle/e/mu/NAon faithfulnessהִכִּיתָהhik/KI/taYou have struckאֹתָםo/TAMthemוְלֹא־חָלוּve/LO-CHA/lubut they have not grievedכִּלִּיתָםkil/li/TAMYou have consumed themמֵאֲנוּme/a/NUthey refusedקַחַתKA/chatto receiveמוּסָרmu/SARdisciplineחִזְּקוּchiz/ze/KUthey have made harderפְנֵיהֶםfe/ne/HEMtheir facesמִסֶּלַעmis/SE/lathan rockמֵאֲנוּme/a/NUthey refusedלָשׁוּב׃la/SHUVto return

   O LORD, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.

   וַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tisaidאַךְ־דַּלִּיםakh-dal/LIMsurely these are poorהֵםhemtheyנוֹאֲלוּno/a/LUthey are foolishכִּיkiforלֹאlonotיָדְעוּya/de/Udo they knowדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhthe way ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמִשְׁפַּטmish/PATthe justice ofאֱלֹהֵיהֶם׃e/lo/he/HEMtheir God

   Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the LORD, nor the judgment of their God.

   אֵלְכָה־לִּיel/KHA-liI will goאֶל־הַגְּדֹלִיםel-hag/ge/do/LIMto the greatוַאֲדַבְּרָהva/a/dab/be/RAand will speakאוֹתָםo/TAMto themכִּיkiforהֵמָּהHEM/matheyיָדְעוּya/de/UknowדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhthe way ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמִשְׁפַּטmish/PATthe justice ofאֱלֹהֵיהֶםe/lo/he/HEMtheir GodאַךְakhbutהֵמָּהHEM/matheseיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherשָׁבְרוּSHAV/ruhave brokenעֹלolthe yokeנִתְּקוּnit/te/KUburstמוֹסֵרוֹת׃mo/se/ROTthe bonds

   I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.

   עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeהִכָּםhik/KAMwill strike themאַרְיֵהar/YEa lionמִיַּעַרmiy/YA/arfrom the forestזְאֵבze/EVa wolf ofעֲרָבוֹתa/ra/VOTthe desertsיְשׇׁדְדֵםye/shod/DEMwill destroy themנָמֵרna/MERa leopardשֹׁקֵדsho/KEDis watchingעַל־עָרֵיהֶםal-a/re/HEMover their citiesכׇּל־הַיּוֹצֵאkol-hay/yo/TSEeveryone who goes outמֵהֵנָּהme/HEN/naof themיִטָּרֵףyit/ta/REFit will be torn in piecesכִּיkibecauseרַבּוּrab/BUthey multipliedפִּשְׁעֵיהֶםpish/e/HEMtheir transgressionsעָצְמוּa/tse/MUare increasedמְשֻׁבוֹתֵיהֶם׃me/shu/vo/te/HEMtheir backslidings

   Wherefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, and a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their cities: every one that goeth out thence shall be torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings are increased.

   אֵיehowלָזֹאתla/ZOTfor this[אֶסְלַח־]לָךְes/LACH-lakhI will forgive youבָּנַיִךְba/NA/yikhyour childrenעֲזָבוּנִיa/za/VU/nithey have forsaken meוַיִּשָּׁבְעוּvay/yish/sha/ve/Uand swornבְּלֹאbe/LOby noאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMgodsוָאַשְׂבִּעַva/as/BI/awhen I had fed to the fullאוֹתָםo/TAMthemוַיִּנְאָפוּvay/yin/A/futhey committed adulteryוּבֵיתu/VETand in the house ofזוֹנָהzo/NAa harlotיִתְגּוֹדָדוּ׃yit/go/da/DUassembled in troops

   How shall I pardon thee for this? thy children have forsaken me, and sworn by them that are no gods: when I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery, and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots' houses.

   סוּסִיםsu/SIMhorsesמְיֻזָּנִיםme/yuz/za/NIMwell fedמַשְׁכִּיםmash/KIMrising earlyהָיוּha/YUthey wereאִישׁisheachאֶל־אֵשֶׁתel-E/shetto the wife ofרֵעֵהוּre/E/huhis neighborיִצְהָלוּ׃yits/HA/luthey neigh

   They were as fed horses in the morning: every one neighed after his neighbour's wife.

9. 9

   הַעַל־אֵלֶּהHA/al-EL/lefor these thingsלוֹא־אֶפְקֹדlo-ef/KODshall I not punishנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDוְאִםve/IMandבְּגוֹיbe/GOYon a nationאֲשֶׁר־כָּזֶהa/SHER-ka/ZEsuch as thisלֹאlonotתִתְנַקֵּםtit/nak/KEMbe avengedנַפְשִׁי׃naf/SHImy soul

   Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

10. 10

    עֲלוּa/LUgo upבְשָׁרוֹתֶיהָve/sha/ro/TE/haamong its vine rowsוְשַׁחֵתוּve/sha/CHE/tuand destroyוְכָלָהve/kha/LAbut a full endאַל־תַּעֲשׂוּal-ta/a/SUdo not makeהָסִירוּha/SI/rutake awayנְטִישׁוֹתֶיהָne/ti/sho/TE/haher branchesכִּיkiforלוֹאlonotלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDהֵמָּה׃HEM/maare they

    Go ye up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end: take away her battlements; for they are not the LORD's.

    כִּיkiforבָגוֹדva/GODdeal treacherouslyבָּגְדוּBAG/duhave dealt treacherouslyבִּיbiagainst meבֵּיתbetthe house ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוּבֵיתu/VETand house ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃ne/UM-Adonaisays the LORD

    For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith the LORD.

12. 12

    כִּחֲשׁוּki/cha/SHUthey have lied aboutבַּיהֹוָהba-Adonaiin the LORDוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidלוֹא־הוּאlo-huit is not Heוְלֹא־תָבוֹאve/LO-ta/VOand will not comeעָלֵינוּa/LE/nuon usרָעָהra/Aevilוְחֶרֶבve/CHE/revand swordוְרָעָבve/ra/AVand famineלוֹאlonotנִרְאֶה׃nir/Ewill we see

    They have belied the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine:

13. 13

    וְהַנְּבִיאִיםve/han/ne/vi/IMand the prophetsיִהְיוּyih/YUwill becomeלְרוּחַle/RU/achwindוְהַדִּבֵּרve/had/dib/BERand the wordאֵיןenis notבָּהֶםba/HEMin themכֹּהkothusיֵעָשֶׂהye/a/SEshall be doneלָהֶם׃la/HEMto them

    And the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them.

14. 14

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeכֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsיַעַןYA/anbecauseדַּבֶּרְכֶםdab/ber/KHEMyou speakאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe wordהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iנֹתֵןno/TENwill makeדְּבָרַיde/va/RAYmy wordsבְּפִיךָbe/FI/khain your mouthלְאֵשׁle/ESHfireוְהָעָםve/ha/AMand the peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisעֵצִיםe/TSIMwoodוַאֲכָלָתַם׃va/a/kha/LA/tamand it will consume them

    Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

    הִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iמֵבִיאme/VIwill bringעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMon youגּוֹיgoya nationמִמֶּרְחָקmim/mer/CHAKfrom afarבֵּיתbetO house ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDגּוֹיgoya nationאֵיתָןe/TANenduringהוּאhuit isגּוֹיgoya nationמֵעוֹלָםme/o/LAMancientהוּאhuit isגּוֹיgoya nationלֹא־תֵדַעlo-te/DAyou do not knowלְשֹׁנוֹle/sho/NOwhose languageוְלֹאve/LOnorתִשְׁמַעtish/MAunderstandמַה־יְדַבֵּר׃ma-ye/dab/BERwhat it says

    Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, saith the LORD: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest what they say.

16. 16

    אַשְׁפָּתוֹash/pa/TOhis quiverכְּקֶבֶרke/KE/veris like a graveפָּתוּחַpa/TU/achopenכֻּלָּםkul/LAMall of themגִּבּוֹרִים׃gib/bo/RIMmighty men

    Their quiver is as an open sepulchre, they are all mighty men.

17. 17

    וְאָכַלve/a/KHALand they will eat upקְצִירְךָke/tsi/re/KHAyour harvestוְלַחְמֶךָve/lach/ME/khaand your breadיֹאכְלוּyo/khe/LUthey will eat upבָּנֶיךָba/NE/khayour sonsוּבְנוֹתֶיךָu/ve/no/TE/khaand your daughtersיֹאכַלyo/KHALthey will eat upצֹאנְךָtso/ne/KHAyour flockוּבְקָרֶךָu/ve/ka/RE/khaand your herdsיֹאכַלyo/KHALthey will eat upגַּפְנְךָgaf/ne/KHAyour vinesוּתְאֵנָתֶךָu/te/e/na/TE/khaand your fig treesיְרֹשֵׁשׁye/ro/SHESHthey will beat downעָרֵיa/REthe cities ofמִבְצָרֶיךָmiv/tsa/RE/khayour fortressesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאַתָּהat/TAyouבֹּטֵחַbo/TE/achtrustבָּהֵנָּהba/HEN/nain whichבֶּחָרֶב׃be/CHA/revby the sword

    And they shall eat up thine harvest, and thy bread, which thy sons and thy daughters should eat: they shall eat up thy flocks and thine herds: they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig trees: they shall impoverish thy fenced cities, wherein thou trustedst, with the sword.

18. 18

    וְגַםve/GAMbut evenבַּיָּמִיםbay/ya/MIMin the daysהָהֵמָּהha/HEM/mathoseנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDלֹא־אֶעֱשֶׂהlo-e/e/SEI will not makeאִתְּכֶםit/te/KHEMwith youכָּלָה׃ka/LAa full end

    Nevertheless in those days, saith the LORD, I will not make a full end with you.

19. 19

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall come to passכִּיkiwhenתֹאמְרוּto/me/RUyou sayתַּחַתTA/chatwhyמֶהmewhatעָשָׂהa/SAhas doneיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵינוּe/lo/HE/nuour GodלָנוּLA/nuto usאֶת־כׇּל־אֵלֶּהet-kol-EL/leall theseוְאָמַרְתָּve/a/mar/TAand sayאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERjust asעֲזַבְתֶּםa/zav/TEMyou have forsakenאוֹתִיo/TImeוַתַּעַבְדוּvat/ta/av/DUand you have servedאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe gods ofנֵכָרne/KHARa foreign landבְּאַרְצְכֶםbe/ar/tse/KHEMin your landכֵּןkensoתַּעַבְדוּta/av/DUyou will serveזָרִיםza/RIMstrangersבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin a landלֹאlonotלָכֶם׃la/KHEMyours

    And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the LORD our God all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.

20. 20

    הַגִּידוּhag/GI/dudeclareזֹאתzotthisבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobוְהַשְׁמִיעוּהָve/hash/mi/U/haand proclaim itבִיהוּדָהVi/hu/DAin Judahלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,

21. 21

    שִׁמְעוּ־נָאshim/U-nahear nowזֹאתzotthisעַםamO peopleסָכָלsa/KHALfoolishוְאֵיןve/ENand withoutלֵבlevheartעֵינַיִםe/NA/yimwho have eyesלָהֶםla/HEMtheyוְלֹאve/LObut notיִרְאוּyir/Useeאׇזְנַיִםoz/NA/yimwho have earsלָהֶםla/HEMtheyוְלֹאve/LObut notיִשְׁמָעוּ׃yish/MA/uhear

    Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not:

22. 22

    הַאוֹתִיha/o/TImeלֹא־תִירָאוּlo-ti/RA/udo you not fearנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDאִםimwillמִפָּנַיmip/pa/NAYbefore meלֹאlonotתָחִילוּta/CHI/luyou trembleאֲשֶׁר־שַׂמְתִּיa/SHER-SAM/tiwho have placedחוֹלcholthe sandגְּבוּלge/VULas the boundary ofלַיָּםlay/YAMthe seaחׇק־עוֹלָםchok-o/LAMby a perpetual decreeוְלֹאve/LOthat notיַעַבְרֶנְהוּya/av/REN/huit can pass itוַיִּתְגָּעֲשׁוּvay/yit/ga/a/SHUand though they tossוְלֹאve/LOyet notיוּכָלוּyu/KHA/lucan they prevailוְהָמוּve/ha/MUthough roarגַלָּיוgal/LAYVits wavesוְלֹאve/LOyet notיַעַבְרֻנְהוּ׃ya/av/RUN/hucan they pass over it

    Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?

23. 23

    וְלָעָםve/la/AMbut the peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisהָיָהha/YAhasלֵבleva heartסוֹרֵרso/RERstubbornוּמוֹרֶהu/mo/REand rebelliousסָרוּSA/ruthey have turned asideוַיֵּלֵכוּ׃vay/ye/LE/khuand gone

    But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone.

24. 24

    וְלוֹא־אָמְרוּve/LO-a/me/RUand they do not sayבִלְבָבָםvil/va/VAMin their heartsנִירָאNI/ralet us fearנָאnanowאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵינוּe/lo/HE/nuour Godהַנֹּתֵןhan/no/TENwho givesגֶּשֶׁםGE/shemrain(וירה)vayarah[יוֹרֶה]yo/REthe early rainוּמַלְקוֹשׁu/mal/KOSHand the latter rainבְּעִתּוֹbe/it/TOin its seasonשְׁבֻעֹתshe/vu/OTthe weeksחֻקּוֹתchuk/KOTappointed forקָצִירka/TSIRthe harvestיִשְׁמׇר־לָנוּ׃yish/MOR-LA/nuHe keeps for us

    Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.

25. 25

    עֲוֺנוֹתֵיכֶםa/vo/no/te/KHEMyour iniquitiesהִטּוּ־אֵלֶּהhit/TU-EL/lehave turned away theseוְחַטֹּאותֵיכֶםve/chat/to/te/KHEMand your sinsמָנְעוּma/ne/Uhave withheldהַטּוֹבhat/TOVthe goodמִכֶּם׃mik/KEMfrom you

    Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.

26. 26

    כִּי־נִמְצְאוּki-nim/tse/Ufor are foundבְעַמִּיve/am/MIin my peopleרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedיָשׁוּרya/SHURthey watchכְּשַׁךְke/SHAKHlike the stooping ofיְקוּשִׁיםye/ku/SHIMfowlersהִצִּיבוּhits/TSI/vuthey setמַשְׁחִיתmash/CHITa trapאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenיִלְכֹּדוּ׃yil/KO/duthey catch

    For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men.

27. 27

    כִּכְלוּבkikh/LUVas a cageמָלֵאma/LEis full ofעוֹףofbirdsכֵּןkensoבָּתֵּיהֶםbat/te/HEMtheir housesמְלֵאִיםme/le/IMare fullמִרְמָהmir/MAof deceitעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeגָּדְלוּga/de/LUthey have become greatוַיַּעֲשִׁירוּ׃vay/ya/a/SHI/ruand grown rich

    As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich.

28. 28

    שָׁמְנוּsha/me/NUthey have become fatעָשְׁתוּa/she/TUthey shineגַּםgamyesעָבְרוּa/ve/RUthey surpassדִבְרֵי־רָעdiv/RE-rathe deeds of evilדִּיןdinthe causeלֹא־דָנוּlo-DA/nuthey do not pleadדִּיןdinthe cause ofיָתוֹםya/TOMthe fatherlessוְיַצְלִיחוּve/yats/LI/chuthat they may prosperוּמִשְׁפַּטu/mish/PATand the right ofאֶבְיוֹנִיםev/yo/NIMthe needyלֹאlonotשָׁפָטוּ׃sha/FA/tudo they defend

    They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.

29. 29

    הַעַל־אֵלֶּהHA/al-EL/lefor these thingsלֹא־אֶפְקֹדlo-ef/KODshall I not punishנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDאִםimorבְּגוֹיbe/GOYon a nationאֲשֶׁר־כָּזֶהa/SHER-ka/ZEsuch as thisלֹאlonotתִתְנַקֵּםtit/nak/KEMbe avengedנַפְשִׁי׃naf/SHImy soul

    Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

30. 30

    שַׁמָּהsham/MAan astonishingוְשַׁעֲרוּרָהve/sha/a/ru/RAand horrible thingנִהְיְתָהnih/ye/TAhas happenedבָּאָרֶץ׃ba/A/retsin the land

    A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;

31. 31

    הַנְּבִאִיםhan/ne/vi/IMthe prophetsנִבְּאוּnib/be/Uprophesyבַשֶּׁקֶרvash/SHE/kerfalselyוְהַכֹּהֲנִיםve/hak/ko/ha/NIMand the priestsיִרְדּוּyir/DUruleעַל־יְדֵיהֶםal-ye/de/HEMby their handsוְעַמִּיve/am/MIand my peopleאָהֲבוּA/ha/vulove to have itכֵןkhensoוּמַה־תַּעֲשׂוּu/MA-ta/a/SUand what will you doלְאַחֲרִיתָהּ׃le/a/cha/ri/TAat its end

    The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?
