   In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, came Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his army against Jerusalem, and they besieged it.

   And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, the city was broken up.

   And all the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate, even Nergal-sharezer, Samgar-nebo, Sarsechim, Rab-saris, Nergal-sharezer, Rab-mag, with all the residue of the princes of the king of Babylon.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenרָאָםra/AMsaw themצִדְקִיָּהוּTsid/kiy/YA/huZedekiahמֶלֶךְ־יְהוּדָהME/lekh-Ye/hu/DAking of Judahוְכֹלve/KHOLand allאַנְשֵׁיan/SHEthe men ofהַמִּלְחָמָהham/mil/cha/MAwarוַיִּבְרְחוּvay/yiv/re/CHUand they fledוַיֵּצְאוּvay/yets/Uand went outלַיְלָהLAY/laby nightמִן־הָעִירmin-ha/IRfrom the cityדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhby way ofגַּןganthe garden ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingבְּשַׁעַרbe/SHA/arby the gateבֵּיןbenbetweenהַחֹמֹתָיִםha/cho/mo/TA/yimthe two wallsוַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand he went outדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhtowardהָעֲרָבָה׃ha/A/ra/VAthe Arabah

   And it came to pass, that when Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king's garden, by the gate betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.

   וַיִּרְדְּפוּvay/yir/de/FUand pursuedחֵיל־כַּשְׂדִּיםchel-Kas/DIMthe army of the Chaldeansאַחֲרֵיהֶםa/cha/re/HEMafter themוַיַּשִּׂגוּvay/yas/SI/guand they overtookאֶת־צִדְקִיָּהוּet-Tsid/kiy/YA/huZedekiahבְּעַרְבוֹתbe/ar/VOTin the plains ofיְרֵחוֹYe/re/CHOJerichoוַיִּקְחוּvay/yik/CHUand they tookאוֹתוֹo/TOhimוַיַּעֲלֻהוּvay/ya/a/lu/HUand brought him upאֶל־נְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּרel-Ne/vu/khad/re/TSARto Nebuchadrezzarמֶלֶךְ־בָּבֶלME/lekh-Ba/VELking of BabylonרִבְלָתָהRiv/LA/tato Riblahבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofחֲמָתCha/MATHamathוַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand he pronouncedאִתּוֹit/TOon himמִשְׁפָּטִים׃mish/pa/TIMjudgment

   But the Chaldeans' army pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him.

   וַיִּשְׁחַטvay/yish/CHATand slaughteredמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofבָּבֶלBa/VELBabylonאֶת־בְּנֵיet-be/NEthe sons ofצִדְקִיָּהוּTsid/kiy/YA/huZedekiahבְּרִבְלָהbe/Riv/LAat Riblahלְעֵינָיוle/e/NAYVbefore his eyesוְאֵתve/ETandכׇּל־חֹרֵיkol-cho/REall the nobles ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahשָׁחַטsha/CHATkilledמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofבָּבֶל׃Ba/VELBabylon

   Then the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon slew all the nobles of Judah.

   וְאֶת־עֵינֵיve/ET-e/NEand eyes ofצִדְקִיָּהוּTsid/kiy/YA/huZedekiahעִוֵּרiv/VERhe blindedוַיַּאַסְרֵהוּvay/ya/as/RE/huand he bound himבַּנְחֻשְׁתַּיִםban/chush/TA/yimin bronze fettersלָבִיאla/VIto carryאֹתוֹo/TOhimבָּבֶלָה׃ba/VE/lato Babylon

   Moreover he put out Zedekiah's eyes, and bound him with chains, to carry him to Babylon.

8. 8

   וְאֶת־בֵּיתve/ET-betand the house ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוְאֶת־בֵּיתve/ET-betand the houses ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleשָׂרְפוּsa/re/FUthey burnedהַכַּשְׂדִּיםhak/Kas/DIMthe Chaldeansבָּאֵשׁba/ESHby fireוְאֶת־חֹמוֹתve/ET-cho/MOTand the walls ofיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemנָתָצוּ׃na/TA/tsuthey broke down

   And the Chaldeans burned the king's house, and the houses of the people, with fire, and brake down the walls of Jerusalem.

   וְאֵתve/ETandיֶתֶרYE/terthe rest ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleהַנִּשְׁאָרִיםhan/nish/a/RIMwho remainedבָּעִירba/IRin the cityוְאֶת־הַנֹּפְלִיםve/ET-han/nof/LIMand the desertersאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoנָפְלוּna/fe/LUhad desertedעָלָיוa/LAYVto himוְאֵתve/ETandיֶתֶרYE/terthe rest ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleהַנִּשְׁאָרִיםhan/nish/a/RIMwho remainedהֶגְלָהheg/LAcarried captiveנְבוּזַרְאֲדָןNe/vu/zar/a/DANNebuzar-adanרַב־טַבָּחִיםrav-tab/ba/CHIMthe captain of the guardבָּבֶל׃ba/VELto Babylon

   Then Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard carried away captive into Babylon the remnant of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to him, with the rest of the people that remained.

    וּמִן־הָעָםu/MIN-ha/AMand from the peopleהַדַּלִּיםhad/dal/LIMthe poorאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoאֵין־לָהֶםen-la/HEMhad noמְאוּמָהme/U/maanythingהִשְׁאִירhish/IRhe leftנְבוּזַרְאֲדָןNe/vu/zar/a/DANNebuzar-adanרַב־טַבָּחִיםrav-tab/ba/CHIMthe captain of the guardבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand gaveלָהֶםla/HEMto themכְּרָמִיםke/ra/MIMvineyardsוִיגֵבִיםvi/ge/VIMand fieldsבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMin the dayהַהוּא׃ha/HUthat

    But Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard left of the poor of the people, which had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.

    וַיְצַוvay/TSAVgave commandנְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּרNe/vu/khad/re/TSARNebuchadrezzarמֶלֶךְ־בָּבֶלME/lekh-Ba/VELking of Babylonעַל־יִרְמְיָהוּal-Yir/me/YA/huconcerning Jeremiahבְּיַדbe/YADthroughנְבוּזַרְאֲדָןNe/vu/zar/a/DANNebuzar-adanרַב־טַבָּחִיםrav-tab/ba/CHIMthe captain of the guardלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    Now Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon gave charge concerning Jeremiah to Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard, saying,

    קָחֶנּוּka/CHEN/nutake himוְעֵינֶיךָve/e/NE/khaand your eyesשִׂיםsimsetעָלָיוa/LAYVon himוְאַל־תַּעַשׂve/AL-TA/asand do not doלוֹloto himמְאוּמָהme/U/maanythingרָּעraharmכִּיkibut(אם)mכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasיְדַבֵּרye/dab/BERspeaksאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youכֵּןkensoעֲשֵׂהa/SEdoעִמּוֹ׃im/MOwith him

    Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm; but do unto him even as he shall say unto thee.

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentנְבוּזַרְאֲדָןNe/vu/zar/a/DANNebuzar-adanרַב־טַבָּחִיםrav-tab/ba/CHIMthe captain of the guardוּנְבוּשַׁזְבָּןu/Ne/vu/shaz/BANand Nebushazbanרַב־סָרִיסRav-sa/RISRab-sarisוְנֵרְגַלve/Ner/GALand Nergal-שַׂרְאֶצֶרsar/E/tsersharezerרַב־מָגRav-magRab-Magוְכֹלve/KHOLand allרַבֵּיrab/BEthe chief officers ofמֶלֶךְ־בָּבֶל׃ME/lekh-Ba/VELking of Babylon

    So Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard sent, and Nebushasban, Rab-saris, and Nergal-sharezer, Rab-mag, and all the king of Babylon's princes;

14. 14

    וַיִּשְׁלְחוּvay/yish/le/CHUthey sentוַיִּקְחוּvay/yik/CHUand they tookאֶת־יִרְמְיָהוּet-Yir/me/YA/huJeremiahמֵחֲצַרme/cha/TSARfrom the court ofהַמַּטָּרָהham/mat/ta/RAthe guardוַיִּתְּנוּvay/yit/te/NUand gaveאֹתוֹo/TOhimאֶל־גְּדַלְיָהוּel-Ge/dal/YA/huto Gedaliahבֶּן־אֲחִיקָםben-A/chi/KAMson of Ahikamבֶּן־שָׁפָןben-Sha/FANson of Shaphanלְהוֹצִאֵהוּle/ho/tsi/E/huto take himאֶל־הַבָּיִתel-hab/BA/yithomeוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevso he dweltבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHamongהָעָם׃ha/AMthe people

    Even they sent, and took Jeremiah out of the court of the prison, and committed him unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, that he should carry him home: so he dwelt among the people.

    וְאֶל־יִרְמְיָהוּve/EL-yir/me/YA/huand to Jeremiahהָיָהha/YAcameדְבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDבִּהְיֹתוֹbih/yo/TOwhen he wasעָצוּרa/TSURshut upבַּחֲצַרba/cha/TSARin the court ofהַמַּטָּרָהham/mat/ta/RAthe guardלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    Now the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah, while he was shut up in the court of the prison, saying,

    הָלוֹךְha/LOKHgoוְאָמַרְתָּve/a/mar/TAand sayלְעֶבֶד־מֶלֶךְle/E/ved-ME/lekhto Ebed-melechהַכּוּשִׁיhak/Ku/SHIthe Cushiteלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingכֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iמֵבִיme/VIwill bringאֶת־דְּבָרַיet-de/va/RAYmy wordsאֶל־הָעִירel-ha/IRon the cityהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisלְרָעָהle/ra/Afor evilוְלֹאve/LOand notלְטוֹבָהle/to/VAfor goodוְהָיוּve/ha/YUand they will happenלְפָנֶיךָle/fa/NE/khabefore youבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMin the dayהַהוּא׃ha/HUthat

    Go and speak to Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be accomplished in that day before thee.

17. 17

    וְהִצַּלְתִּיךָve/hits/tsal/TI/khaand I will deliver youבַיּוֹם־הַהוּאvay/YOM-ha/HUin that dayנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDוְלֹאve/LOand notתִנָּתֵןtin/na/TENyou will be givenבְּיַדbe/YADinto the hand ofהָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMthe menאֲשֶׁר־אַתָּהa/SHER-at/TAof whom youיָגוֹרya/GORare afraidמִפְּנֵיהֶם׃mip/pe/ne/HEMof them

    But I will deliver thee in that day, saith the LORD: and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid.

18. 18

    כִּיkiforמַלֵּטmal/LETdeliverאֲמַלֶּטְךָa/mal/let/KHAI will deliver youוּבַחֶרֶבu/va/CHE/revand by the swordלֹאlonotתִפֹּלtip/POLwill you fallוְהָיְתָהve/ha/ye/TAbut will beלְךָle/KHAyoursנַפְשְׁךָnaf/she/KHAyour lifeלְשָׁלָלle/sha/LALas a prizeכִּי־בָטַחְתָּki-va/TACH/tabecause you have trustedבִּיbiin meנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃ne/UM-Adonaisays the LORD

    For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the LORD.
