   The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and all his army, and all the kingdoms of the earth of his dominion, and all the people, fought against Jerusalem, and against all the cities thereof, saying,

   Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Go and speak to Zedekiah king of Judah, and tell him, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire:

   וְאַתָּהve/at/TAand youלֹאlonotתִמָּלֵטtim/ma/LETwill escapeמִיָּדוֹmiy/ya/DOfrom his handכִּיkibutתָּפֹשׂta/FOSbe takenתִּתָּפֵשׂtit/ta/FESyou will be takenוּבְיָדוֹu/ve/ya/DOand into his handתִּנָּתֵןtin/na/TENyou will be givenוְעֵינֶיךָve/e/NE/khaand your eyesאֶת־עֵינֵיet-e/NEthe eyes ofמֶלֶךְ־בָּבֶלME/lekh-Ba/VELking of Babylonתִּרְאֶינָהtir/E/nawill seeוּפִיהוּu/FI/huand his mouthאֶת־פִּיךָet-PI/khawith your mouthיְדַבֵּרye/dab/BERwill speakוּבָבֶלu/Va/VELand to Babylonתָּבוֹא׃ta/VOyou will go

   And thou shalt not escape out of his hand, but shalt surely be taken, and delivered into his hand; and thine eyes shall behold the eyes of the king of Babylon, and he shall speak with thee mouth to mouth, and thou shalt go to Babylon.

   Yet hear the word of the LORD, O Zedekiah king of Judah; Thus saith the LORD of thee, Thou shalt not die by the sword:

   בְּשָׁלוֹםbe/sha/LOMin peaceתָּמוּתta/MUTyou will dieוּכְמִשְׂרְפוֹתu/khe/mis/re/FOTand as the burnings forאֲבוֹתֶיךָa/vo/TE/khayour fathersהַמְּלָכִיםham/me/la/KHIMthe kingsהָרִאשֹׁנִיםha/ri/sho/NIMformerאֲשֶׁר־הָיוּa/SHER-ha/YUwhich wereלְפָנֶיךָle/fa/NE/khabefore youכֵּןkensoיִשְׂרְפוּ־לָךְyis/re/FU-lakhthey shall burn for youוְהוֹיve/HOYand alasאָדוֹןa/DONlordיִסְפְּדוּ־לָךְyis/pe/DU-lakhthey will lament youכִּי־דָבָרki-da/VARfor the wordאֲנִי־דִבַּרְתִּיa/NI-dib/BAR/tiI have spokenנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃ne/UM-Adonaisays the LORD

   But thou shalt die in peace: and with the burnings of thy fathers, the former kings which were before thee, so shall they burn odours for thee; and they will lament thee, saying, Ah lord! for I have pronounced the word, saith the LORD.

   Then Jeremiah the prophet spake all these words unto Zedekiah king of Judah in Jerusalem,

   וְחֵילve/CHELand the army ofמֶלֶךְ־בָּבֶלME/lekh-Ba/VELking of Babylonנִלְחָמִיםnil/cha/MIMwere fightingעַל־יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםal-Ye/ru/sha/LA/yimagainst Jerusalemוְעַלve/ALand againstכׇּל־עָרֵיkol-a/REall the cities ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahהַנּוֹתָרוֹתhan/no/ta/ROTthat were leftאֶל־לָכִישׁel-La/KHISHagainst Lachishוְאֶל־עֲזֵקָהve/EL-a/ze/KAand against AzekahכִּיkiforהֵנָּהHEN/natheseנִשְׁאֲרוּnish/a/RUremainedבְּעָרֵיbe/a/REin the cities ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahעָרֵיa/REas citiesמִבְצָר׃miv/TSARfortified

   When the king of Babylon's army fought against Jerusalem, and against all the cities of Judah that were left, against Lachish, and against Azekah: for these defenced cities remained of the cities of Judah.

   This is the word that came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, after that the king Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people which were at Jerusalem, to proclaim liberty unto them;

   לְשַׁלַּחle/shal/LACHthat should set freeאִישׁisheachאֶת־עַבְדּוֹet-av/DOhis servantוְאִישׁve/ISHand eachאֶת־שִׁפְחָתוֹet-shif/cha/TOhis maidservantהָעִבְרִיha/Iv/RIa Hebrewוְהָעִבְרִיָּהve/Ha/iv/riy/YAor a Hebrew womanחׇפְשִׁיםchof/SHIMfreeלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIso that noneעֲבׇד־בָּםa/VOD-bamshould enslave themבִּיהוּדִיbI/hu/DIa Jewאָחִיהוּa/CHI/huhis brotherאִישׁ׃ishanyone

   That every man should let his manservant, and every man his maidservant, being an Hebrew or an Hebrewess, go free; that none should serve himself of them, to wit, of a Jew his brother.

    וַיִּשְׁמְעוּvay/yish/me/Uand obeyedכׇל־הַשָּׂרִיםkhol-has/sa/RIMall the princesוְכׇל־הָעָםve/KHOL-ha/AMand all the peopleאֲשֶׁר־בָּאוּa/SHER-BA/uwho had enteredבַבְּרִיתvab/be/RITin the covenantלְשַׁלַּחle/shal/LACHto set freeאִישׁisheachאֶת־עַבְדּוֹet-av/DOhis servantוְאִישׁve/ISHand eachאֶת־שִׁפְחָתוֹet-shif/cha/TOhis maidservantחׇפְשִׁיםchof/SHIMfreeלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIso that noneעֲבׇד־בָּםa/VOD-bamwould enslave themעוֹדodagainוַיִּשְׁמְעוּvay/yish/me/Uthey obeyedוַיְשַׁלֵּחוּ׃vay/shal/LE/chuand set them free

    Now when all the princes, and all the people, which had entered into the covenant, heard that every one should let his manservant, and every one his maidservant, go free, that none should serve themselves of them any more, then they obeyed, and let them go.

    וַיָּשׁוּבוּvay/ya/SHU/vubut they turnedאַחֲרֵי־כֵןa/cha/RE-khenafterwardוַיָּשִׁבוּvay/ya/SHI/vuand took backאֶת־הָעֲבָדִיםet-ha/a/va/DIMthe servantsוְאֶת־הַשְּׁפָחוֹתve/ET-hash/she/fa/CHOTand the maidservantsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomשִׁלְּחוּshil/le/CHUthey had setחׇפְשִׁיםchof/SHIMfree[וַיִּכְבְּשׁוּם]vay/yikh/be/SHUMand brought them into subjectionלַעֲבָדִיםla/a/va/DIMas male servantsוְלִשְׁפָחוֹת׃ve/lish/fa/CHOTand as female servants

    But afterward they turned, and caused the servants and the handmaids, whom they had let go free, to return, and brought them into subjection for servants and for handmaids.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passדְבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDאֶל־יִרְמְיָהוּel-Yir/me/YA/huto Jeremiahמֵאֵתme/ETfromיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    Therefore the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

    כֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIכָּרַתִּיka/RAT/timadeבְרִיתve/RITa covenantאֶת־אֲבוֹתֵיכֶםet-a/vo/te/KHEMwith your fathersבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the day ofהוֹצִאִיho/tsi/II brought outאוֹתָםo/TAMthemמֵאֶרֶץme/E/retsfrom the land ofמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptמִבֵּיתmib/BETfrom the house ofעֲבָדִיםa/va/DIMslavesלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondmen, saying,

    מִקֵּץmik/KETSat the end ofשֶׁבַעSHE/vasevenשָׁנִיםsha/NIMyearsתְּשַׁלְּחוּte/shal/le/CHUyou shall set freeאִישׁisheachאֶת־אָחִיוet-a/CHIVhis brotherהָעִבְרִיha/Iv/RIthe Hebrewאֲשֶׁר־יִמָּכֵרa/SHER-yim/ma/KHERwho has been soldלְךָle/KHAto youוַעֲבָדְךָva/a/va/de/KHAand has served youשֵׁשׁsheshsixשָׁנִיםsha/NIMyearsוְשִׁלַּחְתּוֹve/shil/lach/TOthen you shall set himחׇפְשִׁיchof/SHIfreeמֵעִמָּךְme/im/MAKHfrom youוְלֹא־שָׁמְעוּve/LO-sha/me/Ubut did not obeyאֲבוֹתֵיכֶםa/vo/te/KHEMyour fathersאֵלַיe/LAYto meוְלֹאve/LOnorהִטּוּhit/TUinclineאֶת־אׇזְנָם׃et-oz/NAMtheir ear

    At the end of seven years let ye go every man his brother an Hebrew, which hath been sold unto thee; and when he hath served thee six years, thou shalt let him go free from thee: but your fathers hearkened not unto me, neither inclined their ear.

    וַתָּשֻׁבוּvat/ta/SHU/vuand you had turnedאַתֶּםat/TEMyouהַיּוֹםhay/YOMnowוַתַּעֲשׂוּvat/ta/a/SUand doneאֶת־הַיָּשָׁרet-hay/ya/SHARthe rightבְּעֵינַיbe/e/NAYin my eyesלִקְרֹאlik/ROto proclaimדְרוֹרde/RORlibertyאִישׁisheachלְרֵעֵהוּle/re/E/huto his neighborוַתִּכְרְתוּvat/tikh/re/TUand you had madeבְרִיתve/RITa covenantלְפָנַיle/fa/NAYbefore meבַּבַּיִתbab/BA/yitin the houseאֲשֶׁר־נִקְרָאa/SHER-nik/RAwhich is calledשְׁמִיshe/MIby my nameעָלָיו׃a/LAYVon it

    And ye were now turned, and had done right in my sight, in proclaiming liberty every man to his neighbour; and ye had made a covenant before me in the house which is called by my name:

16. 16

    וַתָּשֻׁבוּvat/ta/SHU/vubut you turnedוַתְּחַלְּלוּvat/te/chal/le/LUand you profanedאֶת־שְׁמִיet-she/MImy nameוַתָּשִׁבוּvat/ta/SHI/vuand took backאִישׁisheachאֶת־עַבְדּוֹet-av/DOhis servantוְאִישׁve/ISHand eachאֶת־שִׁפְחָתוֹet-shif/cha/TOhis maidservantאֲשֶׁר־שִׁלַּחְתֶּםa/SHER-shil/lach/TEMwhom you had setחׇפְשִׁיםchof/SHIMfreeלְנַפְשָׁםle/naf/SHAMat their pleasureוַתִּכְבְּשׁוּvat/tikh/be/SHUand you brought into subjectionאֹתָםo/TAMthemלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beלָכֶםla/KHEMto youלַעֲבָדִיםla/a/va/DIMmale servantsוְלִשְׁפָחוֹת׃ve/lish/fa/CHOTand female servants

    But ye turned and polluted my name, and caused every man his servant, and every man his handmaid, whom ye had set at liberty at their pleasure, to return, and brought them into subjection, to be unto you for servants and for handmaids.

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeכֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאַתֶּםat/TEMyouלֹא־שְׁמַעְתֶּםlo-she/ma/TEMyou have not obeyedאֵלַיe/LAYto meלִקְרֹאlik/ROto proclaimדְרוֹרde/RORlibertyאִישׁisheachלְאָחִיוle/a/CHIVto his brotherוְאִישׁve/ISHand eachלְרֵעֵהוּle/re/E/huto his neighborהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iקֹרֵאko/REproclaimלָכֶםla/KHEMfor youדְּרוֹרde/RORlibertyנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDאֶל־הַחֶרֶבel-ha/CHE/revto the swordאֶל־הַדֶּבֶרel-had/DE/verto the pestilenceוְאֶל־הָרָעָבve/EL-ha/ra/AVand to the famineוְנָתַתִּיve/na/tat/TIand I will giveאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyou(לזועה)lazavh[לְזַעֲוָה]le/za/a/VAa horrorלְכֹלle/KHOLto allמַמְלְכוֹתmam/le/KHOTthe kingdoms ofהָאָרֶץ׃ha/A/retsthe earth

    Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ye have not hearkened unto me, in proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother, and every man to his neighbour: behold, I proclaim a liberty for you, saith the LORD, to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.

    וְנָתַתִּיve/na/tat/TIand I will makeאֶת־הָאֲנָשִׁיםet-ha/a/na/SHIMthe menהָעֹבְרִיםha/ov/RIMwho transgressedאֶת־בְּרִתִיet-be/ri/TImy covenantאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹא־הֵקִימוּlo-he/KI/muhave not keptאֶת־דִּבְרֵיet-div/REthe words ofהַבְּרִיתhab/be/RITthe covenantאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichכָּרְתוּka/re/TUthey madeלְפָנָיle/fa/NAYbefore meהָעֵגֶלha/E/gelwhen the calfאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichכָּרְתוּka/re/TUthey cutלִשְׁנַיִםlish/NA/yimin twoוַיַּעַבְרוּvay/ya/av/RUand passedבֵּיןbenbetweenבְּתָרָיו׃be/ta/RAYVits pieces

    And I will give the men that have transgressed my covenant, which have not performed the words of the covenant which they had made before me, when they cut the calf in twain, and passed between the parts thereof,

    שָׂרֵיsa/REthe princes ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahוְשָׂרֵיve/sa/REand the princes ofיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemהַסָּרִסִיםhas/sa/ri/SIMthe officialsוְהַכֹּהֲנִיםve/hak/ko/ha/NIMand the priestsוְכֹלve/KHOLand allעַםamthe people ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landהָעֹבְרִיםha/ov/RIMwho passedבֵּיןbenbetweenבִּתְרֵיbit/REthe pieces ofהָעֵגֶל׃ha/E/gelthe calf

    The princes of Judah, and the princes of Jerusalem, the eunuchs, and the priests, and all the people of the land, which passed between the parts of the calf;

20. 20

    וְנָתַתִּיve/na/tat/TII will giveאוֹתָםo/TAMthemבְּיַדbe/YADinto the hand ofאֹיְבֵיהֶםoy/ve/HEMtheir enemiesוּבְיַדu/ve/YADand into the hand ofמְבַקְשֵׁיme/vak/SHEthose who seekנַפְשָׁםnaf/SHAMtheir soulוְהָיְתָהve/ha/ye/TAand will beנִבְלָתָםniv/la/TAMtheir carcassesלְמַאֲכָלle/ma/a/KHALfor foodלְעוֹףle/OFfor the birds ofהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensוּלְבֶהֱמַתu/le/ve/he/MATand for the beasts ofהָאָרֶץ׃ha/A/retsthe earth

    I will even give them into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life: and their dead bodies shall be for meat unto the fowls of the heaven, and to the beasts of the earth.

21. 21

    וְאֶת־צִדְקִיָּהוּve/ET-tsid/kiy/YA/huand Zedekiahמֶלֶךְ־יְהוּדָהME/lekh-Ye/hu/DAking of Judahוְאֶת־שָׂרָיוve/ET-sa/RAYVand his princesאֶתֵּןet/TENI will giveבְּיַדbe/YADinto the hand ofאֹיְבֵיהֶםoy/ve/HEMtheir enemiesוּבְיַדu/ve/YADand into the hand ofמְבַקְשֵׁיme/vak/SHEthose who seekנַפְשָׁםnaf/SHAMtheir soulוּבְיַדu/ve/YADand into the hand ofחֵילchelthe army ofמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofבָּבֶלBa/VELBabylonהָעֹלִיםha/o/LIMwhich has withdrawnמֵעֲלֵיכֶם׃me/a/le/KHEMfrom you

    And Zedekiah king of Judah and his princes will I give into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life, and into the hand of the king of Babylon's army, which are gone up from you.

    הִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iמְצַוֶּהme/tsav/VEwill commandנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDוַהֲשִׁבֹתִיםva/ha/shi/vo/TIMand bring them backאֶל־הָעִירel-ha/IRto the cityהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisוְנִלְחֲמוּve/nil/cha/MUand they will fightעָלֶיהָa/LE/haagainst itוּלְכָדוּהָu/le/kha/DU/haand take itוּשְׂרָפֻהָu/se/ra/FU/haand burn itבָאֵשׁva/ESHwith fireוְאֶת־עָרֵיve/ET-a/REand the cities ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahאֶתֵּןet/TENI will makeשְׁמָמָהshe/ma/MAa desolationמֵאֵיןme/ENwithoutיֹשֵׁב׃yo/SHEVinhabitant

    Behold, I will command, saith the LORD, and cause them to return to this city; and they shall fight against it, and take it, and burn it with fire: and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation without an inhabitant.
