    בָּעֵתat the timeהַהִיאthatנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDאֶהְיֶהwill I beלֵאלֹהִיםthe God ofלְכֹלfor allמִשְׁפְּחוֹתfamilies ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelוְהֵמָּהand theyיִהְיוּ־לִיshall be to meלְעָם׃people

    At the same time, saith the LORD, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people.

    כֹּהthusאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDמָצָאfoundחֵןfavorבַּמִּדְבָּרin the wildernessעַםthe peopleשְׂרִידֵיwho were left ofחָרֶבa swordהָלוֹךְwhen soughtלְהַרְגִּיעוֹfor restיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel

    Thus saith the LORD, The people which were left of the sword found grace in the wilderness; even Israel, when I went to cause him to rest.

    מֵרָחוֹקof oldיְהֹוָהthe LORDנִרְאָהappearedלִיto meוְאַהֲבַתwith a loveעוֹלָםeverlastingאֲהַבְתִּיךְI have loved youעַל־כֵּןthereforeמְשַׁכְתִּיךְI have remained true to youחָסֶד׃in devotion

    The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

    עוֹדagainאֶבְנֵךְI will build youוְנִבְנֵיתand you will be rebuiltבְּתוּלַתvirgin ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelעוֹדagainתַּעְדִּיyou shall be adorned withתֻפַּיִךְyour tambourinesוְיָצָאתand shall go outבִּמְחוֹלdancing withמְשַׂחֲקִים׃them that make merry

    Again I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry.

    עוֹדany moreתִּטְּעִיyou shall plantכְרָמִיםvineyardsבְּהָרֵיin the mountains ofשֹׁמְרוֹןSamariaנָטְעוּshall plantנֹטְעִיםthe plantersוְחִלֵּלוּ׃and shall enjoy the fruit

    Thou shalt yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria: the planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things.

    כִּיforיֶשׁ־יוֹםthere shall be a dayקָרְאוּshall cryנֹצְרִיםthe watchmenבְּהַרon the mount ofאֶפְרָיִםEphraimקוּמוּariseוְנַעֲלֶהand let us go upצִיּוֹןto Zionאֶל־יְהֹוָהto the LORDאֱלֹהֵינוּ׃our God

    For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the LORD our God.

    כִּי־כֹהbecause thusאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDרׇנּוּsingלְיַעֲקֹבfor Jacobשִׂמְחָהwith gladnessוְצַהֲלוּand shout for joyבְּרֹאשׁon the hilltops ofהַגּוֹיִםthe nationsהַשְׁמִיעוּannounceהַלְלוּpraiseוְאִמְרוּand sayהוֹשַׁעsaveיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶת־עַמְּךָYour peopleאֵת־שְׁאֵרִיתthe remnant ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel

    For thus saith the LORD; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O LORD, save thy people, the remnant of Israel.

    הִנְנִיbehold IמֵבִיאI will bringאוֹתָםthemמֵאֶרֶץfrom the land ofצָפוֹןthe northוְקִבַּצְתִּיםand I will gather themמִיַּרְכְּתֵי־אָרֶץfrom the ends of the earthבָּםwith themעִוֵּרthe blindוּפִסֵּחַand the lameהָרָהthe woman with childוְיֹלֶדֶתand her that travails with childיַחְדָּוtogetherקָהָלa companyגָּדוֹלgreatיָשׁוּבוּthey shall returnהֵנָּה׃hither

    Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither.

    בִּבְכִיin weepingיָבֹאוּthey shall comeוּבְתַחֲנוּנִיםand with supplicationsאוֹבִילֵםwill I lead themאוֹלִיכֵםI will cause them to walkאֶל־נַחֲלֵיby the rivers ofמַיִםwaterבְּדֶרֶךְby the way ofיָשָׁרstraightלֹאnotיִכָּשְׁלוּthey shall stumbleבָּהּin itכִּי־הָיִיתִיbecause I wasלְיִשְׂרָאֵלto Israelלְאָבfor a fatherוְאֶפְרַיִםand Ephraimבְּכֹרִיmy firstbornהוּא׃he

    They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.

    שִׁמְעוּhearדְבַר־יְהֹוָהthe word of the LORDגּוֹיִםO you nationsוְהַגִּידוּand declareבָאִיִּיםin the islesמִמֶּרְחָקafar offוְאִמְרוּand sayמְזָרֵהhe that scatteredיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelיְקַבְּצֶנּוּwill gather himוּשְׁמָרוֹand keep himכְּרֹעֶהas a shepherd keepsעֶדְרוֹ׃his flock

    Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock.

    כִּי־פָדָהfor has redeemedיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶת־יַעֲקֹבJacobוּגְאָלוֹand ransomed himמִיַּדfrom the hand ofחָזָקhim that was strongerמִמֶּנּוּ׃than he

    For the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.

    וּבָאוּtherefore they shall comeוְרִנְּנוּand singבִמְרוֹם־צִיּוֹןon the height of Zionוְנָהֲרוּand shall flowאֶל־טוּבto the bounty ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDעַל־דָּגָןfor wheatוְעַל־תִּירֹשׁand for wineוְעַל־יִצְהָרand for oilוְעַל־בְּנֵי־צֹאןand for the young of the flockוּבָקָרand of the herdוְהָיְתָהand it beנַפְשָׁםtheir soulכְּגַןlike the garden ofרָוֶהwateredוְלֹא־יוֹסִיפוּand they shall not any moreלְדַאֲבָהto languishעוֹד׃any more

    Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.

    אָזthenתִּשְׂמַחshall rejoiceבְּתוּלָהthe virginבְּמָחוֹלin the danceוּבַחֻרִיםboth young menוּזְקֵנִיםand oldיַחְדָּוtogetherוְהָפַכְתִּיfor I will turnאֶבְלָםtheir mourningלְשָׂשׂוֹןto joyוְנִחַמְתִּיםand I will comfort themוְשִׂמַּחְתִּיםand I will make rejoice themמִיגוֹנָם׃from their sorrow

    Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.

    וְרִוֵּיתִיand I will satiateנֶפֶשׁthe soul ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםthe priestsדָּשֶׁןwith fatnessוְעַמִּיand my peopleאֶת־טוּבִיmy goodnessיִשְׂבָּעוּshall be satisfiedנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃says the LORD

    And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the LORD.

    כֹּהthusאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDקוֹלthe voice ofבְּרָמָהin Ramahנִשְׁמָעwas heardנְהִיlamentationבְּכִיweepingתַמְרוּרִיםbitterרָחֵלRachelמְבַכָּהweepingעַל־בָּנֶיהָupon her sonsמֵאֲנָהshe refusedלְהִנָּחֵםto be comfortedעַל־בָּנֶיהָupon her sonsכִּיbecauseאֵינֶנּוּ׃they are not

    Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.

    כֹּהthusאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDמִנְעִיkeepקוֹלֵךְyour voiceמִבֶּכִיfrom weepingוְעֵינַיִךְand your eyesמִדִּמְעָהfrom tearsכִּיforיֵשׁthere shall beשָׂכָרa rewardלִפְעֻלָּתֵךְfor your workנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDוְשָׁבוּand they shall come back againמֵאֶרֶץfrom the land ofאוֹיֵב׃the enemy

    Thus saith the LORD; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.

    וְיֵשׁ־תִּקְוָהand there is hopeלְאַחֲרִיתֵךְfor your futureנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDוְשָׁבוּand shall come back againבָנִיםyour childrenלִגְבוּלָם׃to their own territory

    And there is hope in thine end, saith the LORD, that thy children shall come again to their own border.

  18. 18

    שָׁמוֹעַsurelyשָׁמַעְתִּיI have heardאֶפְרַיִםEphraimמִתְנוֹדֵדbemoaning himselfיִסַּרְתַּנִיYou hast chastised meוָאִוָּסֵרand I was chastisedכְּעֵגֶלlike a calfלֹאnotלֻמָּדtrainedהֲשִׁבֵנִיturn me backוְאָשׁוּבָהand I shall be turnedכִּיforאַתָּהyouיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהָי׃my God

    I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art the LORD my God.

  19. 19

    כִּי־אַחֲרֵיbecause afterשׁוּבִיI had returned awayנִחַמְתִּיI repentedוְאַחֲרֵיand afterהִוָּדְעִיI was instructedסָפַקְתִּיI smoteעַל־יָרֵךְupon my thighבֹּשְׁתִּיI was ashamedוְגַם־נִכְלַמְתִּיand even confoundedכִּיbecauseנָשָׂאתִיI did bearחֶרְפַּתthe reproach ofנְעוּרָי׃my youth

    Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.

    הֲבֵןis sonיַקִּירmy dearלִיto meאֶפְרַיִםEphraimאִםifיֶלֶדa childשַׁעֲשֻׁעִיםa darlingכִּי־מִדֵּיfor wheneverדַבְּרִיI speakבּוֹof himזָכֹרearnestlyאֶזְכְּרֶנּוּI will remember himעוֹדstillעַל־כֵּןthereforeהָמוּare movedמֵעַיmy bowelsלוֹto himרַחֵםsurelyאֲרַחֲמֶנּוּI will have compassion on himנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃says the LORD

    Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spake against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith the LORD.

  21. 21

    הַצִּיבִיset upלָךְto youצִיֻּנִיםwaymarksשִׂמִיmake youלָךְto youתַּמְרוּרִיםsignpostsשִׁתִיsetלִבֵּךְyour heartלַמְסִלָּהtowards the highwayדֶּרֶךְthe way of(הלכתי)[הָלָכְתְּ]you didst goשׁוּבִיturn backבְּתוּלַתvirgin ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelשֻׁבִיturn backאֶל־עָרַיִךְto your citiesאֵלֶּה׃these

    Set thee up waymarks, make thee high heaps: set thine heart toward the highway, even the way which thou wentest: turn again, O virgin of Israel, turn again to these thy cities.

  22. 22

    עַד־מָתַיuntil whenתִּתְחַמָּקִיןwill you turn aboutהַבַּתO daughterהַשּׁוֹבֵבָהfaithlessכִּי־בָרָאbecause createdיְהֹוָהthe LORDחֲדָשָׁהa new thingבָּאָרֶץin the landנְקֵבָהa womanתְּסוֹבֵבshall courtגָּבֶר׃a man

    How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man.

  23. 23

    כֹּה־אָמַרthus saysיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְבָאוֹתof Hostsאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelעוֹדyet againיֹאמְרוּthey shall useאֶת־הַדָּבָרspeechהַזֶּהthisבְּאֶרֶץin the land ofיְהוּדָהJudahוּבְעָרָיוand in its citiesבְּשׁוּבִיwhen I shall bring backאֶת־שְׁבוּתָםtheir captivityיְבָרֶכְךָmay bless youיְהֹוָהthe LORDנְוֵה־צֶדֶקO habitation of justiceהַרand mountain ofהַקֹּדֶשׁ׃holiness

    Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As yet they shall use this speech in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof, when I shall bring again their captivity; The LORD bless thee, O habitation of justice, and mountain of holiness.

    וְיָשְׁבוּand in it shall dwellבָהּin itיְהוּדָהJudahוְכׇל־עָרָיוand all its citiesיַחְדָּוtogetherאִכָּרִיםthe farmersוְנָסְעוּand they that go outבַּעֵדֶר׃with the flocks

    And there shall dwell in Judah itself, and in all the cities thereof together, husbandmen, and they that go forth with flocks.

  25. 25

    כִּיforהִרְוֵיתִיI will satisfyנֶפֶשׁthe soulעֲיֵפָהwearyוְכׇל־נֶפֶשׁand all soulדָּאֲבָהlanguishingמִלֵּאתִי׃I replenish

    For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.

    עַל־זֹאתupon thisהֱקִיצֹתִיI awokeוָאֶרְאֶהand beheldוּשְׁנָתִיand my sleepעָרְבָהwas sweetלִּי׃to me

    Upon this I awaked, and beheld; and my sleep was sweet unto me.

  27. 27

    הִנֵּהbeholdיָמִיםdaysבָּאִיםcomeנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDוְזָרַעְתִּיand I will sowאֶת־בֵּיתhouse ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelוְאֶת־בֵּיתand house ofיְהוּדָהJudahזֶרַעwith the seed ofאָדָםmanוְזֶרַעand the seed ofבְּהֵמָה׃beast

    Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast.

  28. 28

    וְהָיָהand beכַּאֲשֶׁרasשָׁקַדְתִּיI have watched overעֲלֵיהֶםupon themלִנְתוֹשׁto pluck upוְלִנְתוֹץand to pull downוְלַהֲרֹסand to break downוּלְהַאֲבִידand to destroyוּלְהָרֵעַand to afflictכֵּןthusאֶשְׁקֹדwill I watch overעֲלֵיהֶםupon themלִבְנוֹתto buildוְלִנְטֹעַand to plantנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃says the LORD

    And it shall come to pass, that like as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I watch over them, to build, and to plant, saith the LORD.

    בַּיָּמִיםin the daysהָהֵםthoseלֹא־יֹאמְרוּnot shall sayעוֹדany moreאָבוֹתthe fathersאָכְלוּhave eatenבֹסֶרsour grapesוְשִׁנֵּיand the teeth ofבָנִיםthe childrensתִּקְהֶינָה׃are set on edge

    In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children's teeth are set on edge.

    כִּיforאִם־אִישׁbut every oneבַּעֲוֺנוֹin his iniquityיָמוּתhe shall dieכׇּל־הָאָדָםevery manהָאֹכֵלthat eatsהַבֹּסֶרthe sour grapesתִּקְהֶינָהshall be set on edgeשִׁנָּיו׃his teeth

    But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.

    הִנֵּהbeholdיָמִיםdaysבָּאִיםcomeנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDוְכָרַתִּיwhen I will makeאֶת־בֵּיתhouse ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelוְאֶת־בֵּיתand house ofיְהוּדָהJudahבְּרִיתa covenantחֲדָשָׁה׃new

    Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

  32. 32

    לֹאnotכַבְּרִיתlike the covenantאֲשֶׁרwhichכָּרַתִּיI madeאֶת־אֲבוֹתָםwith their fathersבְּיוֹםin the day ofהֶחֱזִיקִיI took themבְיָדָםby the handלְהוֹצִיאָםto bring them outמֵאֶרֶץfrom the land ofמִצְרָיִםEgyptאֲשֶׁר־הֵמָּהwhich they areהֵפֵרוּthey brokeאֶת־בְּרִיתִיmy covenantוְאָנֹכִיyet IבָּעַלְתִּיI was their masterבָםin themנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃says the LORD

    Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:

    כִּיthatזֹאתthisהַבְּרִיתthe covenantאֲשֶׁרwhichאֶכְרֹתI will makeאֶת־בֵּיתwith the house ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelאַחֲרֵיafterהַיָּמִיםthe daysהָהֵםthoseנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDנָתַתִּיI will putאֶת־תּוֹרָתִיmy lawבְּקִרְבָּםin their inward partsוְעַל־לִבָּםand upon their heartsאֶכְתְּבֶנָּהwrite itוְהָיִיתִיand will beלָהֶםto themלֵאלֹהִיםtheir Godוְהֵמָּהand theyיִהְיוּ־לִיshall be to meלְעָם׃people

    But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

  34. 34

    וְלֹאand notיְלַמְּדוּshall they teachעוֹדany moreאִישׁevery manאֶת־רֵעֵהוּhis neighborוְאִישׁand every manאֶת־אָחִיוhis brotherלֵאמֹרsayingדְּעוּknowאֶת־יְהֹוָהthe LORDכִּי־כוּלָּםbecause all of themיֵדְעוּshall knowאוֹתִיmeלְמִקְּטַנָּםfrom the least of themוְעַד־גְּדוֹלָםto the greatest of themנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDכִּיbecauseאֶסְלַחI will forgiveלַעֲוֺנָםto their iniquityוּלְחַטָּאתָםand their sinלֹאnotאֶזְכָּר־עוֹד׃I will remember any more

    And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

    כֹּהthusאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDנֹתֵןwho givesשֶׁמֶשׁthe sunלְאוֹרfor a lightיוֹמָםby dayחֻקֹּתand the ordinances ofיָרֵחַmoonוְכוֹכָבִיםand the starsלְאוֹרfor a lightלָיְלָהnightרֹגַעwho stirs upהַיָּםthe seaוַיֶּהֱמוּthat roarגַלָּיוits wavesיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְבָאוֹתof Hostsשְׁמוֹ׃his name

    Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:

    אִם־יָמֻשׁוּif departהַחֻקִּיםthose ordinancesהָאֵלֶּהtheseמִלְּפָנַיfrom before meנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDגַּםalsoזֶרַעthe seed ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelיִשְׁבְּתוּshall ceaseמִהְיוֹתfrom beingגּוֹיa nationלְפָנַיbefore meכׇּל־הַיָּמִים׃for ever

    If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.

    כֹּהthusאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDאִם־יִמַּדּוּif can be measuredשָׁמַיִםthe heavensמִלְמַעְלָהaboveוְיֵחָקְרוּand searched outמוֹסְדֵי־אֶרֶץthe foundations of the earthלְמָטָּהbeneathגַּם־אֲנִיalso IאֶמְאַסI will cast offבְּכׇל־זֶרַעall the seed ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelעַל־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרupon all thatעָשׂוּthey didנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃says the LORD

    Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.

    הִנֵּהbeholdיָמִיםdays[בָּאִים]are comingנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDוְנִבְנְתָהwhen shall be builtהָעִירthe cityלַיהֹוָהto the LORDמִמִּגְדַּלfrom the tower ofחֲנַנְאֵלHananeelשַׁעַרthe gate ofהַפִּנָּה׃the corner

    Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the city shall be built to the LORD from the tower of Hananeel unto the gate of the corner.

    וְיָצָאand shall come forthעוֹדfurther(קוה)[קָו]the measuring lineהַמִּדָּהof measurementנֶגְדּוֹstraightעַלuponגִּבְעַתhill ofגָּרֵבGarebוְנָסַבand shall turn roundגֹּעָתָה׃to Goah

    And the measuring line shall yet go forth over against it upon the hill Gareb, and shall compass about to Goath.

    וְכׇל־הָעֵמֶקand all the valleyהַפְּגָרִיםof the dead bodiesוְהַדֶּשֶׁןand of the ashesוְכׇל־[הַשְּׁדֵמוֹת]and all the fieldsעַד־נַחַלas far as the wadi ofקִדְרוֹןKidronעַד־פִּנַּתto the corner ofשַׁעַרthe gate ofהַסּוּסִיםthe horseמִזְרָחָהeastwardקֹדֶשׁshall be holyלַיהֹוָהto the LORDלֹא־יִנָּתֵשׁit shall not be plucked upוְלֹא־יֵהָרֵסnor thrown downעוֹדany moreלְעוֹלָם׃forever
