    בְּרֵאשִׁיתin the beginning ofמַמְלֶכֶתthe reign ofיְהוֹיָקִםJehoiakimבֶּן־יֹאושִׁיָּהוּson of Josiahמֶלֶךְthe king ofיְהוּדָהJudahהָיָהcameהַדָּבָרthe wordהַזֶּהthisאֶל־יִרְמְיָהto Jeremiahמֵאֵתfromיְהֹוָהthe LORDלֵאמֹר׃saying

    In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah came this word unto Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

    כֹּה־אָמַרthus saysיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֵלַיto meעֲשֵׂהmakeלְךָfor yourselfמוֹסֵרוֹתbondsוּמֹטוֹתand barsוּנְתַתָּםand put themעַל־צַוָּארֶךָ׃upon your neck

    Thus saith the LORD to me; Make thee bonds and yokes, and put them upon thy neck,

    וְשִׁלַּחְתָּםand send themאֶל־מֶלֶךְto the king ofאֱדוֹםEdomוְאֶל־מֶלֶךְand king ofמוֹאָבMoabוְאֶל־מֶלֶךְand king ofבְּנֵיthe sons ofעַמּוֹןAmmonוְאֶל־מֶלֶךְand king ofצֹרTyreוְאֶל־מֶלֶךְand king ofצִידוֹןZidonבְּיַדin the hand ofמַלְאָכִיםmessengersהַבָּאִיםwhich comeיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםto Jerusalemאֶל־צִדְקִיָּהוּto Zedekiahמֶלֶךְthe king ofיְהוּדָה׃Judah

    And send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the Ammonites, and to the king of Tyrus, and to the king of Zidon, by the hand of the messengers which come to Jerusalem unto Zedekiah king of Judah;

    וְצִוִּיתָand you will commandאֹתָםthemאֶל־אֲדֹנֵיהֶםto their mastersלֵאמֹרsayingכֹּה־אָמַרthus saysיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְבָאוֹתof Hostsאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelכֹּהthusתֹאמְרוּyou sayאֶל־אֲדֹנֵיכֶם׃to your masters

    And command them to say unto their masters, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Thus shall ye say unto your masters;

    אָנֹכִיIעָשִׂיתִיI madeאֶת־הָאָרֶץthe earthאֶת־הָאָדָםthe manוְאֶת־הַבְּהֵמָהand the livestockאֲשֶׁרwhichעַל־פְּנֵיupon the face ofהָאָרֶץthe groundבְּכֹחִיby my powerהַגָּדוֹלthe greatוּבִזְרוֹעִיand by my armהַנְּטוּיָהoutstretchedוּנְתַתִּיהָand I will give itלַאֲשֶׁרto whomיָשַׁרit seemed properבְּעֵינָי׃in my eyes

    I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me.

    וְעַתָּהand nowאָנֹכִיIנָתַתִּיI gaveאֶת־כׇּל־הָאֲרָצוֹתall the landsהָאֵלֶּהtheseבְּיַדin the hand ofנְבוּכַדְנֶאצַּרNebuchadnezzarמֶלֶךְ־בָּבֶלking of Babylonעַבְדִּיmy servantוְגַםand alsoאֶת־חַיַּתbeasts ofהַשָּׂדֶהthe fieldנָתַתִּיI gaveלוֹto himלְעׇבְדוֹ׃to serve him

    And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him.

    וְעָבְדוּshall make him a slaveאֹתוֹhimכׇּל־הַגּוֹיִםall the nationsוְאֶת־בְּנוֹand his sonוְאֶת־בֶּן־בְּנוֹand son of his sonעַדuntilבֹּא־עֵתthe time come ofאַרְצוֹhis landגַּם־הוּאalso heוְעָבְדוּshall make him a slaveבוֹhimגּוֹיִםnationsרַבִּיםmanyוּמְלָכִיםand kingsגְּדֹלִים׃great

    And all nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the very time of his land come: and then many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of him.

    וְהָיָהand beהַגּוֹיthe nationוְהַמַּמְלָכָהand the kingdomאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יַעַבְדוּwill not serveאֹתוֹhimאֶת־נְבוּכַדְנֶאצַּרNebuchadnezzarמֶלֶךְ־בָּבֶלking of Babylonוְאֵתandאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יִתֵּןwill not putאֶת־צַוָּארוֹhis neckבְּעֹלunder the yoke ofמֶלֶךְthe king ofבָּבֶלBabylonבַּחֶרֶבwith the swordוּבָרָעָבand by famineוּבַדֶּבֶרand by the pestilenceאֶפְקֹדwill I punishעַל־הַגּוֹיupon the nationהַהוּאthatנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDעַד־תֻּמִּיuntil I have consumedאֹתָםthemבְּיָדוֹ׃in his hand

    And it shall come to pass, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, saith the LORD, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.

    וְאַתֶּםand youאַל־תִּשְׁמְעוּdo not you hearkenאֶל־נְבִיאֵיכֶםto your prophetsוְאֶל־קֹסְמֵיכֶםand your divinersוְאֶלnor toחֲלֹמֹתֵיכֶםyour dreamersוְאֶל־עֹנְנֵיכֶםnor to your enchantersוְאֶל־כַּשָּׁפֵיכֶםnor to your sorcerersאֲשֶׁר־הֵםwhich theyאֹמְרִיםsayאֲלֵיכֶםunto youלֵאמֹרsayingלֹאnotתַעַבְדוּyou shall serveאֶת־מֶלֶךְthe king ofבָּבֶל׃Babylon

    Therefore hearken not ye to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your enchanters, nor to your sorcerers, which speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon:

    כִּיforשֶׁקֶרfalseהֵםtheyנִבְּאִיםthey prophesyלָכֶםto youלְמַעַןin order thatהַרְחִיקto remove farאֶתְכֶםyouמֵעַלfrom uponאַדְמַתְכֶםyour landוְהִדַּחְתִּיand that I should drive outאֶתְכֶםyouוַאֲבַדְתֶּם׃and you will perish

    For they prophesy a lie unto you, to remove you far from your land; and that I should drive you out, and ye should perish.

    וְהַגּוֹיand the nationאֲשֶׁרwhichיָבִיאshall bringאֶת־צַוָּארוֹhis neckבְּעֹלunder the yoke ofמֶלֶךְ־בָּבֶלking of Babylonוַעֲבָדוֹand he will serve himוְהִנַּחְתִּיוthose will I let remainעַל־אַדְמָתוֹupon his landנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDוַעֲבָדָהּand they shall till itוְיָשַׁבand dwellבָּהּ׃in it

    But the nations that bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, those will I let remain still in their own land, saith the LORD; and they shall till it, and dwell therein.

    וְאֶל־צִדְקִיָּהand to Zedekiahמֶלֶךְ־יְהוּדָהking of JudahדִּבַּרְתִּיI have spokenכְּכׇל־הַדְּבָרִיםas all the wordsהָאֵלֶּהtheseלֵאמֹרsayingהָבִיאוּbringאֶת־צַוְּארֵיכֶםyour necksבְּעֹלunder the yoke ofמֶלֶךְ־בָּבֶלking of Babylonוְעִבְדוּand serveאֹתוֹhimוְעַמּוֹand his peopleוִחְיוּ׃and live

    I spake also to Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying, Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live.

    לָמָּהwhyתָמוּתוּwill you dieאַתָּהyouוְעַמֶּךָand your peopleבַּחֶרֶבwith the swordבָּרָעָבby the famineוּבַדָּבֶרand by the pestilenceכַּאֲשֶׁרasדִּבֶּרspokeיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶל־הַגּוֹיagainst the nationאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יַעֲבֹדwill not serveאֶת־מֶלֶךְthe king ofבָּבֶל׃Babylon

    Why will ye die, thou and thy people, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, as the LORD hath spoken against the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon?

    וְאַל־תִּשְׁמְעוּand do not you hearkenאֶל־דִּבְרֵיto the words ofהַנְּבִאִיםthe prophetsהָאֹמְרִיםthat speakאֲלֵיכֶםunto youלֵאמֹרsayingלֹאnotתַעַבְדוּyou shall serveאֶת־מֶלֶךְthe king ofבָּבֶלBabylonכִּיforשֶׁקֶרfalseהֵםtheyנִבְּאִיםthey prophesyלָכֶם׃to you

    Therefore hearken not unto the words of the prophets that speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon: for they prophesy a lie unto you.

    כִּיforלֹאnotשְׁלַחְתִּיםI sent themנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDוְהֵםand theyנִבְּאִיםthey prophesyבִּשְׁמִיin my nameלַשָּׁקֶרa lieלְמַעַןin order thatהַדִּיחִיthat I might drive outאֶתְכֶםyouוַאֲבַדְתֶּםand you will perishאַתֶּםyou areוְהַנְּבִאִיםand the prophetsהַנִּבְּאִיםthat prophesyלָכֶם׃to you

    For I have not sent them, saith the LORD, yet they prophesy a lie in my name; that I might drive you out, and that ye might perish, ye, and the prophets that prophesy unto you.

    וְאֶל־הַכֹּהֲנִיםalso to the priestsוְאֶל־כׇּל־הָעָםand to all peopleהַזֶּהthisדִּבַּרְתִּיI have spokenלֵאמֹרsayingכֹּהthusאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDאַל־תִּשְׁמְעוּdo not you hearkenאֶל־דִּבְרֵיto the words ofנְבִיאֵיכֶםyour prophetsהַנִּבְּאִיםthat prophesyלָכֶםto youלֵאמֹרsayingהִנֵּהbeholdכְלֵיthe vessels ofבֵית־יְהֹוָהhouse of the LORDמוּשָׁבִיםshall be brought backמִבָּבֶלָהfrom Babylonעַתָּהnowמְהֵרָהshortlyכִּיforשֶׁקֶרfalseהֵמָּהtheyנִבְּאִיםthey prophesyלָכֶם׃to you

    Also I spake to the priests and to all this people, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Hearken not to the words of your prophets that prophesy unto you, saying, Behold, the vessels of the LORD's house shall now shortly be brought again from Babylon: for they prophesy a lie unto you.

    אַל־תִּשְׁמְעוּdo not you hearkenאֲלֵיהֶםto themעִבְדוּserveאֶת־מֶלֶךְ־בָּבֶלking of Babylonוִחְיוּand liveלָמָּהwhyתִהְיֶהshould beהָעִירthe cityהַזֹּאתthisחׇרְבָּה׃laid waste

    Hearken not unto them; serve the king of Babylon, and live: wherefore should this city be laid waste?

  18. 18

    וְאִם־נְבִאִיםand if prophetsהֵםtheyוְאִם־יֵשׁand if there isדְּבַר־יְהֹוָהthe word of the LORDאִתָּםwith themיִפְגְּעוּ־נָאlet them now make intercessionבַּיהֹוָהin the LORDצְבָאוֹתof Hostsלְבִלְתִּי־בֹאוּgo notהַכֵּלִיםthe vesselsהַנּוֹתָרִיםwhich are leftבְּבֵית־יְהֹוָהin the house of the LORDוּבֵיתand house ofמֶלֶךְthe king ofיְהוּדָהJudahוּבִירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםand in Jerusalemבָּבֶלָה׃into Babylon

    But if they be prophets, and if the word of the LORD be with them, let them now make intercession to the LORD of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon.

  19. 19

    כִּיforכֹהthusאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְבָאוֹתof Hostsאֶל־הָעַמֻּדִיםconcerning the pillarsוְעַל־הַיָּםand upon the seaוְעַל־הַמְּכֹנוֹתand concerning the basesוְעַלand uponיֶתֶרthe residue ofהַכֵּלִיםthe vesselsהַנּוֹתָרִיםthat remainבָּעִירin the cityהַזֹּאת׃this

    For thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases, and concerning the residue of the vessels that remain in this city,

  20. 20

    אֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־לְקָחָםnot he took themנְבוּכַדְנֶאצַּרNebuchadnezzarמֶלֶךְthe king ofבָּבֶלBabylonבַּגְלוֹתוֹwhen he carried away captiveאֶת־[יְכׇנְיָה]Jeconiahבֶן־יְהוֹיָקִיםson of Jehoiakimמֶלֶךְ־יְהוּדָהking of Judahמִירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםfrom Jerusalemבָּבֶלָהinto Babylonוְאֵתandכׇּל־חֹרֵיall the nobles ofיְהוּדָהJudahוִירוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃and Jerusalem

    Which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took not, when he carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem;

    כִּיforכֹהthusאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְבָאוֹתof Hostsאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelעַל־הַכֵּלִיםconcerning the vesselsהַנּוֹתָרִיםthat remainבֵּיתin the house ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDוּבֵיתand house ofמֶלֶךְ־יְהוּדָהking of Judahוִירוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃and Jerusalem

    Yea, thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that remain in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah and of Jerusalem;

  22. 22

    בָּבֶלָהinto Babylonיוּבָאוּthey shall be carriedוְשָׁמָּהand thereיִהְיוּshall beעַדuntilיוֹםdayפׇּקְדִיthat I take heed ofאֹתָםthemנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDוְהַעֲלִיתִיםand I will bring up themוַהֲשִׁיבֹתִיםand restore themאֶל־הַמָּקוֹםunto the placeהַזֶּה׃this

    They shall be carried to Babylon, and there shall they be until the day that I visit them, saith the LORD; then will I bring them up, and restore them to this place.
