    כֹּהthusאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDרֵדgo downבֵּית־מֶלֶךְto the house of the king ofיְהוּדָהJudahוְדִבַּרְתָּand you will speakשָׁםthereאֶת־הַדָּבָרthe wordהַזֶּה׃this

    Thus saith the LORD; Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word,

    וְאָמַרְתָּand sayשְׁמַעhearkenדְּבַר־יְהֹוָהthe word of the LORDמֶלֶךְthe king ofיְהוּדָהJudahהַיֹּשֵׁבthat sittestעַל־כִּסֵּאupon the throne ofדָוִדDavidאַתָּהyouוַעֲבָדֶיךָand your servantsוְעַמְּךָand your peopleהַבָּאִיםthat enter inבַּשְּׁעָרִיםat the gatesהָאֵלֶּה׃these

    And say, Hear the word of the LORD, O king of Judah, that sittest upon the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people that enter in by these gates:

    כֹּהthusאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDעֲשׂוּexecuteמִשְׁפָּטjudgmentוּצְדָקָהand righteousnessוְהַצִּילוּand deliverגָזוּלthe robbedמִיַּדfrom the hand ofעָשׁוֹקthe oppressorוְגֵרand a sojournerיָתוֹםa fatherless oneוְאַלְמָנָהand a widowאַל־תֹּנוּdo no wrongאַל־תַּחְמֹסוּdo no violenceוְדָםand bloodנָקִיinnocentאַל־תִּשְׁפְּכוּdo not you shall shedבַּמָּקוֹםin the placeהַזֶּה׃this

    Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.

    כִּיforאִם־עָשׂוֹif indeedתַּעֲשׂוּyou doאֶת־הַדָּבָרthe thingהַזֶּהthisוּבָאוּthen shall there enter inבְשַׁעֲרֵיin the gates ofהַבַּיִתthe houseהַזֶּהthisמְלָכִיםkingsיֹשְׁבִיםsittingלְדָוִדof Davidעַל־כִּסְאוֹupon his throneרֹכְבִיםridingבָּרֶכֶבin chariotsוּבַסּוּסִיםand on the horsesהוּאheוַעֲבָדָוand his servantsוְעַמּוֹ׃and his people

    For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.

    וְאִםand ifלֹאnotתִשְׁמְעוּyou hearkenאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהtheseבִּיby myselfנִשְׁבַּעְתִּיI swearנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDכִּי־לְחׇרְבָּהthat a desolationיִהְיֶהshall beהַבַּיִתthe houseהַזֶּה׃this

    But if ye will not hear these words, I swear by myself, saith the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation.

    כִּי־כֹהbecause thusאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDעַל־בֵּיתto the house ofמֶלֶךְthe king ofיְהוּדָהJudahגִּלְעָדGileadאַתָּהyouלִיto meרֹאשׁthe summit ofהַלְּבָנוֹןLebanonאִם־לֹאyet surelyאֲשִׁיתְךָI will make youמִדְבָּרa wildernessעָרִיםcitiesלֹאnot(נושבה)[נוֹשָׁבוּ]׃inhabited

    For thus saith the LORD unto the king's house of Judah; Thou art Gilead unto me, and the head of Lebanon: yet surely I will make thee a wilderness, and cities which are not inhabited.

    וְקִדַּשְׁתִּיand I will prepareעָלֶיךָupon youמַשְׁחִתִיםdestroyersאִישׁevery oneוְכֵלָיוwith his weaponsוְכָרְתוּand they will cut downמִבְחַרyour choiceאֲרָזֶיךָyour cedarsוְהִפִּילוּand cast themעַל־הָאֵשׁ׃upon the fire

    And I will prepare destroyers against thee, every one with his weapons: and they shall cut down thy choice cedars, and cast them into the fire.

    וְעָבְרוּand they shall passגּוֹיִםnationsרַבִּיםmanyעַלuponהָעִירthe cityהַזֹּאתthisוְאָמְרוּshall sayאִישׁevery manאֶל־רֵעֵהוּto his neighborעַל־מֶהwhyעָשָׂהhas doneיְהֹוָהthe LORDכָּכָהsoלָעִירto cityהַגְּדוֹלָהthe greatהַזֹּאת׃this

    And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this great city?

    וְאָמְרוּshall sayעַלuponאֲשֶׁרwhichעָזְבוּthey have forsakenאֶת־בְּרִיתcovenant ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֵיהֶםtheir Godוַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּand worshipedלֵאלֹהִים־אֲחֵרִיםto other godsוַיַּעַבְדוּם׃and they served them

    Then they shall answer, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD their God, and worshipped other gods, and served them.

    אַל־תִּבְכּוּweep notלְמֵתto the deadוְאַל־תָּנֻדוּneither bemoanלוֹto himבְּכוּweepבָכוֹsoreלַהֹלֵךְfor him that goes awayכִּיbecauseלֹאnotיָשׁוּבhe shall returnעוֹדany moreוְרָאָהnor seeאֶת־אֶרֶץthe land ofמוֹלַדְתּוֹ׃his birth

    Weep ye not for the dead, neither bemoan him: but weep sore for him that goeth away: for he shall return no more, nor see his native country.

    כִּיforכֹהthusאָמַר־יְהֹוָהsaid the LORDאֶל־שַׁלֻּםto Shallumבֶּן־יֹאשִׁיָּהוּson of Josiahמֶלֶךְthe king ofיְהוּדָהJudahהַמֹּלֵךְwho reignedתַּחַתinstead ofיֹאשִׁיָּהוּJosiahאָבִיוhis fatherאֲשֶׁרwhichיָצָאhe went forthמִן־הַמָּקוֹםfrom the placeהַזֶּהthisלֹא־יָשׁוּבnot returnשָׁםthereעוֹד׃any more

    For thus saith the LORD touching Shallum the son of Josiah king of Judah, which reigned instead of Josiah his father, which went forth out of this place; He shall not return thither any more:

  12. 12

    כִּיbecauseבִּמְקוֹםat the place ofאֲשֶׁר־הִגְלוּto which they have led into exileאֹתוֹhimשָׁםthereיָמוּתhe shall dieוְאֶת־הָאָרֶץand the landהַזֹּאתthisלֹא־יִרְאֶהshall not seeעוֹד׃any more

    But he shall die in the place whither they have led him captive, and shall see this land no more.

    הוֹיwoe to himבֹּנֶהthat buildsבֵיתוֹhis houseבְּלֹא־צֶדֶקby unrighteousnessוַעֲלִיּוֹתָיוand his upper roomsבְּלֹאwithoutמִשְׁפָּטinjusticeבְּרֵעֵהוּhis neighbors serviceיַעֲבֹדthat usesחִנָּםwithout wagesוּפֹעֲלוֹand for his hireלֹאnotיִתֶּן־לוֹ׃he will give him

    Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbour's service without wages, and giveth him not for his work;

    הָאֹמֵרthat saysאֶבְנֶה־לִּיI will build to meבֵּיתa houseמִדּוֹתwideוַעֲלִיּוֹתand upper roomsמְרֻוָּחִיםlargeוְקָרַעand he cuts outלוֹto himחַלּוֹנָיwindowsוְסָפוּןand it is coveredבָּאָרֶזwith cedarוּמָשׁוֹחַand paintedבַּשָּׁשַׁר׃with the vermilion

    That saith, I will build me a wide house and large chambers, and cutteth him out windows; and it is cieled with cedar, and painted with vermilion.

    הֲתִמְלֹךְshall you reignכִּיbecauseאַתָּהyouמְתַחֲרֶהdost competeבָאָרֶזin cedarאָבִיךָyour fatherהֲלוֹאis it notאָכַלateוְשָׁתָהand drinkוְעָשָׂהand doמִשְׁפָּטjudgmentוּצְדָקָהand righteousnessאָזthenטוֹבit was wellלוֹ׃to him

    Shalt thou reign, because thou closest thyself in cedar? did not thy father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice, and then it was well with him?

  16. 16

    דָּןhe judgedדִּין־עָנִיthe cause of the poorוְאֶבְיוֹןand needyאָזthenטוֹבit was wellהֲלוֹא־הִיאwas not thisהַדַּעַתto knowאֹתִיmeנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃says the LORD

    He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him: was not this to know me? saith the LORD.

  17. 17

    כִּיbecauseאֵיןbut onlyעֵינֶיךָyour eyesוְלִבְּךָand your heartכִּיbecauseאִם־עַל־בִּצְעֶךָfor your dishonest gainוְעַלand uponדַּם־הַנָּקִיinnocent bloodלִשְׁפּוֹךְfor sheddingוְעַל־הָעֹשֶׁקand upon the oppressionוְעַל־הַמְּרוּצָהand for practising violenceלַעֲשׂוֹת׃to do

    But thine eyes and thine heart are not but for thy covetousness, and for to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it.

  18. 18

    לָכֵןthereforeכֹּה־אָמַרthus saysיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶל־יְהוֹיָקִיםto Jehoiakimבֶּן־יֹאשִׁיָּהוּson of Josiahמֶלֶךְthe king ofיְהוּדָהJudahלֹא־יִסְפְּדוּnot they will mournלוֹto himהוֹיahאָחִיmy brotherוְהוֹיor ahאָחוֹתa sisterלֹא־יִסְפְּדוּnot they will mournלוֹto himהוֹיahאָדוֹןlordוְהוֹיor ahהֹדֹה׃his glory

    Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah; They shall not lament for him, saying, Ah my brother! or, Ah sister! they shall not lament for him, saying, Ah lord! or, Ah his glory!

  19. 19

    קְבוּרַתthe burial ofחֲמוֹרa donkeyיִקָּבֵרhe will be buriedסָחוֹבdrawnוְהַשְׁלֵךְand cast forthמֵהָלְאָהfrom beyondלְשַׁעֲרֵיthe gates ofיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃Jerusalem

    He shall be buried with the burial of an ass, drawn and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.

  20. 20

    עֲלִיgo up toהַלְּבָנוֹןLebanonוּצְעָקִיand cry outוּבַבָּשָׁןand in Bashanתְּנִיlift upקוֹלֵךְyour voiceוְצַעֲקִיand cry outמֵעֲבָרִיםfrom Abarimכִּיforנִשְׁבְּרוּare destroyedכׇּל־מְאַהֲבָיִךְ׃all your lovers

    Go up to Lebanon, and cry; and lift up thy voice in Bashan, and cry from the passages: for all thy lovers are destroyed.

  21. 21

    דִּבַּרְתִּיI have spokenאֵלַיִךְinto youבְּשַׁלְוֺתַיִךְin your prosperityאָמַרְתְּbut you didst sayלֹאnotאֶשְׁמָעI will hearזֶהthisדַרְכֵּךְyour mannerמִנְּעוּרַיִךְfrom your youthכִּיthatלֹא־שָׁמַעַתְּyou didst not obeyבְּקוֹלִי׃my voice

    I spake unto thee in thy prosperity; but thou saidst, I will not hear. This hath been thy manner from thy youth, that thou obeyedst not my voice.

  22. 22

    כׇּל־רֹעַיִךְall your shepherdsתִּרְעֶה־רוּחַthe wind shall drive awayוּמְאַהֲבַיִךְand your loversבַּשְּׁבִיinto captivityיֵלֵכוּshall goכִּיsurelyאָזthenתֵּבֹשִׁיyou will be ashamedוְנִכְלַמְתְּand confoundedמִכֹּלfor allרָעָתֵךְ׃your wickedness

    The wind shall eat up all thy pastors, and thy lovers shall go into captivity: surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness.

  23. 23

    (ישבתי)[יֹשַׁבְתְּ]O inhabitant ofבַּלְּבָנוֹןLebanon[מְקֻנַּנְתְּ]that makest your nestבָּאֲרָזִיםin the cedarsמַה־נֵּחַנְתְּhow pitiable shall you beבְּבֹא־לָךְwhen come upon youחֲבָלִיםpangsחִילthe painכַּיֹּלֵדָה׃as of a woman in travail

    O inhabitant of Lebanon, that makest thy nest in the cedars, how gracious shalt thou be when pangs come upon thee, the pain as of a woman in travail!

  24. 24

    חַי־אָנִיas I liveנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDכִּיyetאִם־יִהְיֶהthough beכׇּנְיָהוּConiahבֶן־יְהוֹיָקִיםson of Jehoiakimמֶלֶךְthe king ofיְהוּדָהJudahחוֹתָםthe signetעַל־יַדuponיְמִינִיmy right handכִּיyetמִשָּׁםfrom thereאֶתְּקֶנְךָּ׃would I tear you off

    As I live, saith the LORD, though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet upon my right hand, yet would I pluck thee thence;

  25. 25

    וּנְתַתִּיךָand I will give youבְּיַדin the hand ofמְבַקְשֵׁיthose who seekנַפְשֶׁךָyour lifeוּבְיַדand by the hand ofאֲשֶׁר־אַתָּהwhich youיָגוֹרyou fearestמִפְּנֵיהֶםfrom before themוּבְיַדand by the hand ofנְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּרNebuchadrezzarמֶלֶךְ־בָּבֶלking of Babylonוּבְיַדand by the hand ofהַכַּשְׂדִּים׃the Chaldeans

    And I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them whose face thou fearest, even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.

  26. 26

    וְהֵטַלְתִּיand I will cast outאֹתְךָyouוְאֶת־אִמְּךָand your motherאֲשֶׁרwhichיְלָדַתְךָbore youעַלuponהָאָרֶץcountryאַחֶרֶתanotherאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יֻלַּדְתֶּםwhere you were not bornשָׁםthereוְשָׁםand thereתָּמוּתוּ׃you will die

    And I will cast thee out, and thy mother that bare thee, into another country, where ye were not born; and there shall ye die.

  27. 27

    וְעַל־הָאָרֶץand upon the landאֲשֶׁר־הֵםwhich theyמְנַשְּׂאִיםthey desireאֶת־נַפְשָׁםto returnלָשׁוּבto returnשָׁםthereשָׁמָּהto itלֹאnotיָשׁוּבוּ׃they shall return

    But to the land whereunto they desire to return, thither shall they not return.

  28. 28

    הַעֶצֶבa despisedנִבְזֶהdespisedנָפוּץbroken vesselהָאִישׁthe manהַזֶּהthisכׇּנְיָהוּConiahאִם־כְּלִיan objectאֵיןthere is noחֵפֶץthat no one cares forבּוֹin itמַדּוּעַwhyהוּטְלוּare they cast outהוּאheוְזַרְעוֹand his seedוְהֻשְׁלְכוּand banishedעַל־הָאָרֶץupon the landאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יָדָעוּ׃not they know

    Is this man Coniah a despised broken idol? is he a vessel wherein is no pleasure? wherefore are they cast out, he and his seed, and are cast into a land which they know not?

    אֶרֶץO landאֶרֶץO landאָרֶץlandשִׁמְעִיhearדְּבַר־יְהֹוָה׃the word of the LORD

    O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.

  30. 30

    כֹּהthusאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDכִּתְבוּwriteאֶת־הָאִישׁthe manהַזֶּהthisעֲרִירִיchildlessגֶּבֶרa manלֹא־יִצְלַחnot shall prosperבְּיָמָיוin his daysכִּיforלֹאnotיִצְלַחshall prosperמִזַּרְעוֹfrom his seedאִישׁno manיֹשֵׁבsittingעַל־כִּסֵּאupon the throne ofדָוִדDavidוּמֹשֵׁלand rulingעוֹדany moreבִּיהוּדָה׃in Judah

    Thus saith the LORD, Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days: for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah.
