   Now Pashur the son of Immer the priest, who was also chief governor in the house of the LORD, heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things.

   וַיַּכֶּהvay/yak/KEthen struckפַשְׁחוּרFash/CHURPashurאֵת־יִרְמְיָהוּet-Yir/me/YA/huJeremiahהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand putאֹתוֹo/TOhimעַל־הַמַּהְפֶּכֶתal-ham/mah/PE/khetin the stocksאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat wereבְּשַׁעַרbe/SHA/arin the gate ofבִּנְיָמִןBin/ya/MINBenjaminהָעֶלְיוֹןha/el/YONupperאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat wasבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

   Then Pashur smote Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the LORD.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passמִמׇּחֳרָתmim/mo/cho/RATon the next dayוַיֹּצֵאvay/yo/TSEthat broughtפַשְׁחוּרFash/CHURPashurאֶת־יִרְמְיָהוּet-Yir/me/YA/huJeremiahמִן־הַמַּהְפָּכֶתmin-ham/mah/PA/khetfrom the stocksוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himיִרְמְיָהוּYir/me/YA/huJeremiahלֹאlonotפַשְׁחוּרFash/CHURPashurקָרָאka/RAhas calledיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDשְׁמֶךָshe/ME/khayour nameכִּיkibutאִם־מָגוֹרIm-ma/GORMagor-מִסָּבִיב׃mis/sa/VIVmissabib

   And it came to pass on the morrow, that Pashur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him, The LORD hath not called thy name Pashur, but Magor-missabib.

   כִּיkiforכֹהkhothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iנֹתֶנְךָno/ten/KHAwill make youלְמָגוֹרle/ma/GORa terrorלְךָle/KHAto yourselfוּלְכׇל־אֹהֲבֶיךָu/le/KHOL-o/ha/VE/khaand to all your friendsוְנָפְלוּve/na/fe/LUand they will fallבְּחֶרֶבbe/CHE/revby the sword ofאֹיְבֵיהֶםoy/ve/HEMtheir enemiesוְעֵינֶיךָve/e/NE/khaand your eyesרֹאוֹתro/OTwill see itוְאֶת־כׇּל־יְהוּדָהve/ET-kol-ye/hu/DAand all Judahאֶתֵּןet/TENI will giveבְּיַדbe/YADin the hand ofמֶלֶךְ־בָּבֶלME/lekh-Ba/VELking of Babylonוְהִגְלָםve/hig/LAMand he will carry them captiveבָּבֶלָהba/VE/lato Babylonוְהִכָּםve/hik/KAMand will strike themבֶּחָרֶב׃be/CHA/revby the sword

   For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will make thee a terror to thyself, and to all thy friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold it: and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive into Babylon, and shall slay them with the sword.

   וְנָתַתִּיve/na/tat/TIand I will giveאֶת־כׇּל־חֹסֶןet-kol-CHO/senall the wealth ofהָעִירha/IRthe cityהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisוְאֶת־כׇּל־יְגִיעָהּve/ET-kol-ye/gi/Aand all its gainוְאֶת־כׇּל־יְקָרָהּve/ET-kol-ye/ka/RAand all its precious thingsוְאֵתve/ETandכׇּל־אוֹצְרוֹתkol-ots/ROTall the treasures ofמַלְכֵיmal/KHEthe kings ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahאֶתֵּןet/TENI will giveבְּיַדbe/YADin the hand ofאֹיְבֵיהֶםoy/ve/HEMtheir enemiesוּבְזָזוּםu/ve/za/ZUMwho will plunder themוּלְקָחוּםu/le/ka/CHUMand take themוֶהֱבִיאוּםve/he/vi/UMand bring themבָּבֶלָה׃ba/VE/lato Babylon

   Moreover I will deliver all the strength of this city, and all the labours thereof, and all the precious things thereof, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, which shall spoil them, and take them, and carry them to Babylon.

   וְאַתָּהve/at/TAand youפַשְׁחוּרFash/CHURPashurוְכֹלve/KHOLand allיֹשְׁבֵיyosh/VEwho dwell inבֵיתֶךָve/TE/khayour houseתֵּלְכוּtel/KHUwill goבַּשֶּׁבִיbash/SHE/viinto captivityוּבָבֶלu/Va/VELand to Babylonתָּבוֹאta/VOyou will comeוְשָׁםve/SHAMand thereתָּמוּתta/MUTyou will dieוְשָׁםve/SHAMand thereתִּקָּבֵרtik/ka/VERyou will be buriedאַתָּהat/TAyouוְכׇל־אֹהֲבֶיךָve/KHOL-o/ha/VE/khaand all your friendsאֲשֶׁר־נִבֵּאתָa/SHER-nib/BE/tato whom you have prophesiedלָהֶםla/HEMto themבַּשָּׁקֶר׃bash/SHA/kerfalsely

   And thou, Pashur, and all that dwell in thine house shall go into captivity: and thou shalt come to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and shalt be buried there, thou, and all thy friends, to whom thou hast prophesied lies.

   פִּתִּיתַנִיpit/ti/TA/niYou deceived meיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDוָאֶפָּתva/ep/PATand I was deceivedחֲזַקְתַּנִיcha/zak/TA/niYou are stronger than Iוַתּוּכָלvat/tu/KHALand have prevailedהָיִיתִיha/YI/tiI have becomeלִשְׂחוֹקlis/CHOKa laughingstockכׇּל־הַיּוֹםkol-hay/YOMall the dayכֻּלֹּהkul/LOeveryoneלֹעֵגlo/EGmocksלִי׃lime

   O LORD, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived: thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocketh me.

8. 8

   כִּי־מִדֵּיki-mid/DEfor as often asאֲדַבֵּרa/dab/BERI speakאֶזְעָקez/AKI cry outחָמָסcha/MASviolenceוָשֹׁדva/SHODand ruinאֶקְרָאek/RAI proclaimכִּי־הָיָהki-ha/YAfor has becomeדְבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDלִיlito meלְחֶרְפָּהle/cher/PAa reproachוּלְקֶלֶסu/le/KE/lesand a derisionכׇּל־הַיּוֹם׃kol-hay/YOMall the day

   For since I spake, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the LORD was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily.

9. 9

   וְאָמַרְתִּיve/a/mar/TIthen I saidלֹא־אֶזְכְּרֶנּוּlo-ez/ke/REN/nuI will not mention Himוְלֹא־אֲדַבֵּרve/LO-a/dab/BERnor speakעוֹדodagainבִּשְׁמוֹbish/MOin His nameוְהָיָהve/ha/YAbut there isבְלִבִּיve/lib/BIin my heartכְּאֵשׁke/ESHlike a fireבֹּעֶרֶתbo/E/retburningעָצֻרa/TSURshut upבְּעַצְמֹתָיbe/ats/mo/TAYin my bonesוְנִלְאֵיתִיve/nil/E/tiand I am weary ofכַּלְכֵלkal/KHELholding it inוְלֹאve/LOand notאוּכָל׃u/KHALI am able

   Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.

    כִּיkiforשָׁמַעְתִּיsha/MA/tiI have heardדִּבַּתdib/BATthe whispering ofרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyמָגוֹרma/GORterror isמִסָּבִיבmis/sa/VIVall aroundהַגִּידוּhag/GI/dudenounceוְנַגִּידֶנּוּve/nag/gi/DEN/nuand we will denounce himכֹּלkolallאֱנוֹשׁe/NOSHthe men ofשְׁלֹמִיshe/lo/MImy peaceשֹׁמְרֵיshom/REwatch forצַלְעִיtsal/Imy stumblingאוּלַיu/LAYperhapsיְפֻתֶּהye/fut/TEhe will be deceivedוְנוּכְלָהve/NUKH/laand we will prevailלוֹloagainst himוְנִקְחָהve/nik/CHAand let us takeנִקְמָתֵנוּnik/ma/TE/nuour vengeanceמִמֶּנּוּ׃mim/MEN/nufrom him

    For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.

11. 11

    וַיהֹוָהve-Adonaibut the LORDאוֹתִיo/TIis with meכְּגִבּוֹרke/gib/BORas a mightyעָרִיץa/RITSterribleעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeרֹדְפַיrod/FAYmy persecutorsיִכָּשְׁלוּyik/ka/she/LUshall stumbleוְלֹאve/LOand notיֻכָלוּyu/KHA/luprevailבֹּשׁוּBO/shuthey will be ashamedמְאֹדme/ODgreatlyכִּי־לֹאki-lofor notהִשְׂכִּילוּhis/KI/luhave they prosperedכְּלִמַּתke/lim/MATthe dishonor ofעוֹלָםo/LAMeverlastingלֹאlonotתִשָּׁכֵחַ׃tish/sha/KHE/achwill be forgotten

    But the LORD is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.

12. 12

    וַיהֹוָהve-Adonaiand the LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsבֹּחֵןbo/CHENwho testsצַדִּיקtsad/DIKthe righteousרֹאֶהro/Ewho seesכְלָיוֹתkhe/la/YOTthe kidneysוָלֵבva/LEVand the heartאֶרְאֶהer/Elet me seeנִקְמָתְךָnik/ma/te/KHAYour vengeanceמֵהֶםme/HEMon themכִּיkiforאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato Youגִּלִּיתִיgil/LI/tiI have revealedאֶת־רִיבִי׃et-ri/VImy cause

    But, O LORD of hosts, that triest the righteous, and seest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I opened my cause.

13. 13

    שִׁירוּSHI/rusingלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDהַלְלוּHAL/lupraiseאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDכִּיkiforהִצִּילhits/TSILHe has deliveredאֶת־נֶפֶשׁet-NE/feshthe soul ofאֶבְיוֹןev/YONthe needyמִיַּדmiy/YADfrom the hand ofמְרֵעִים׃me/re/IMevildoers

    Sing unto the LORD, praise ye the LORD: for he hath delivered the soul of the poor from the hand of evildoers.

14. 14

    אָרוּרa/RURcursed beהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthe dayאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיֻלַּדְתִּיyul/LAD/tiI was bornבּוֹboin itיוֹםyomthe dayאֲשֶׁר־יְלָדַתְנִיa/SHER-ye/la/DAT/niwhen bore meאִמִּיim/MImy motherאַל־יְהִיal-ye/HIlet not beבָרוּךְ׃va/RUKHblessed

    Cursed be the day wherein I was born: let not the day wherein my mother bare me be blessed.

15. 15

    אָרוּרa/RURcursed beהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoבִּשַּׂרbis/SARbrought news toאֶת־אָבִיet-a/VImy fatherלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingיֻלַּד־לְךָyul/LAD-le/KHAis born to youבֵּןbena sonזָכָרza/KHARa maleשַׂמֵּחַsam/ME/achmake gladשִׂמְּחָהוּ׃sim/me/cha/HUhe made him glad

    Cursed be the man who brought tidings to my father, saying, A man child is born unto thee; making him very glad.

16. 16

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand let beהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manהַהוּאha/HUthatכֶּעָרִיםke/a/RIMlike the citiesאֲשֶׁר־הָפַךְa/SHER-ha/FAKHwhich overthrewיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְלֹאve/LOand notנִחָםni/CHAMrelentedוְשָׁמַעve/sha/MAand let him hearזְעָקָהze/a/KAa cryבַּבֹּקֶרbab/BO/kerin the morningוּתְרוּעָהu/te/ru/Aand a shoutבְּעֵתbe/ETat the time ofצׇהֳרָיִם׃tso/ho/RA/yimnoon

    And let that man be as the cities which the LORD overthrew, and repented not: and let him hear the cry in the morning, and the shouting at noontide;

17. 17

    אֲשֶׁרa/SHERbecauseלֹא־מוֹתְתַנִיlo-mot/TA/nihe did not kill meמֵרָחֶםme/RA/chemfrom the wombוַתְּהִי־לִיvat/te/HI-liso that would have beenאִמִּיim/MImy motherקִבְרִיkiv/RImy graveוְרַחְמָהֿve/rach/MAand her wombהֲרַתha/RATpregnantעוֹלָם׃o/LAMforever

    Because he slew me not from the womb; or that my mother might have been my grave, and her womb to be always great with me.

18. 18

    לָמָּהLAM/mawhyזֶּהzethisמֵרֶחֶםme/RE/chemfrom the womb ofיָצָאתִיya/TSA/tidid I come outלִרְאוֹתlir/OTto seeעָמָלa/MALtoilוְיָגוֹןve/ya/GONand sorrowוַיִּכְלוּvay/yikh/LUand spendבְּבֹשֶׁתbe/VO/shetin shameיָמָי׃ya/MAYmy days

    Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labour and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?
