Jeremiah 19 יִרְמְיָהוּ פרק י״ט

   כֹּהthusאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDהָלֹךְgoוְקָנִיתָand getבַקְבֻּקa bottle ofיוֹצֵרof a potterחָרֶשׂearthenוּמִזִּקְנֵיand take of the elders ofהָעָםthe peopleוּמִזִּקְנֵיand take of the elders ofהַכֹּהֲנִים׃the priests

   Thus saith the LORD, Go and get a potter's earthen bottle, and take of the ancients of the people, and of the ancients of the priests;

   וְיָצָאתָand go outאֶל־גֵּיאinto the valley ofבֶן־הִנֹּםHinnomאֲשֶׁרwhichפֶּתַחby the entry ofשַׁעַרthe gate of[הַחַרְסִית]Harsithוְקָרָאתָand you shall proclaimשָּׁםthereאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםthe wordsאֲשֶׁר־אֲדַבֵּרwhich I speakאֵלֶיךָ׃to you

   And go forth unto the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the east gate, and proclaim there the words that I shall tell thee,

   וְאָמַרְתָּand sayשִׁמְעוּhearדְבַר־יְהֹוָהthe word of the LORDמַלְכֵיkings ofיְהוּדָהJudahוְיֹשְׁבֵיand the inhabitants ofיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִםJerusalemכֹּה־אָמַרthus saysיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְבָאוֹתof Hostsאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelהִנְנִיbehold Iמֵבִיאwill bringרָעָהevilעַל־הַמָּקוֹםupon the placeהַזֶּהthisאֲשֶׁרwhichכׇּל־שֹׁמְעָהּwhoever hears itתִּצַּלְנָהshall tingleאׇזְנָיו׃his ears

   And say, Hear ye the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem; Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, the which whosoever heareth, his ears shall tingle.

   יַעַןbecauseאֲשֶׁרwhichעֲזָבֻנִיthey have forsaken meוַיְנַכְּרוּand have estrangedאֶת־הַמָּקוֹםthe placeהַזֶּהthisוַיְקַטְּרוּ־בוֹand have burned incense in itלֵאלֹהִים־אֲחֵרִיםto other godsאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יְדָעוּםhave they knownהֵמָּהtheyוַאֲבוֹתֵיהֶםnor their fathersוּמַלְכֵיand the kings ofיְהוּדָהJudahוּמָלְאוּand have filledאֶת־הַמָּקוֹםthe placeהַזֶּהthisדַּםthe blood ofנְקִיִּם׃innocents

   Because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this place, and have burned incense in it unto other gods, whom neither they nor their fathers have known, nor the kings of Judah, and have filled this place with the blood of innocents;

   וּבָנוּthey have builtאֶת־בָּמוֹתthe high places ofהַבַּעַלthe Baalלִשְׂרֹףto burnאֶת־בְּנֵיהֶםtheir sonsבָּאֵשׁby fireעֹלוֹתfor burnt offeringsלַבָּעַלto the Baalאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־צִוִּיתִיnot have I commandedוְלֹאand notדִבַּרְתִּיI spokeוְלֹאand notעָלְתָהcame itעַל־לִבִּי׃upon my heart

   They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind:

   לָכֵןthereforeהִנֵּה־יָמִיםbehold daysבָּאִיםcomeנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDוְלֹא־יִקָּרֵאand not shall be calledלַמָּקוֹםthe placeהַזֶּהthisעוֹדany moreהַתֹּפֶתthe Tophetוְגֵיאand the valley ofבֶן־הִנֹּםBen-hinnomכִּיbecauseאִם־גֵּיאbut the valley ofהַהֲרֵגָה׃of slaughter

   Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that this place shall no more be called Tophet, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of slaughter.

7. 7

   וּבַקֹּתִיand I will make voidאֶת־עֲצַתthe counsel ofיְהוּדָהJudahוִירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםand Jerusalemבַּמָּקוֹםin the placeהַזֶּהthisוְהִפַּלְתִּיםand I will make fall themבַּחֶרֶבwith the swordלִפְנֵיbeforeאֹיְבֵיהֶםtheir enemiesוּבְיַדand by the hand ofמְבַקְשֵׁיthose who seekנַפְשָׁםtheir livesוְנָתַתִּיand I will giveאֶת־נִבְלָתָםtheir carcassesלְמַאֲכׇלto be foodלְעוֹףto the birds ofהַשָּׁמַיִםthe heavensוּלְבֶהֱמַתand for the animals ofהָאָרֶץ׃the earth

   And I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place; and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hands of them that seek their lives: and their carcases will I give to be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.

   וְשַׂמְתִּיand I will makeאֶת־הָעִירthe cityהַזֹּאתthisלְשַׁמָּהdesolateוְלִשְׁרֵקָהand a hissingכֹּלallעֹבֵרthat passes byעָלֶיהָupon itיִשֹּׁםshall be astonishedוְיִשְׁרֹקand hissעַל־כׇּל־מַכֹּתֶהָ׃because of all its disasters

   And I will make this city desolate, and an hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all the plagues thereof.

   וְהַאֲכַלְתִּיםand I will make eat themאֶת־בְּשַׂרthe fleshבְּנֵיהֶםtheir sonsוְאֵתandבְּשַׂרthe fleshבְּנֹתֵיהֶםtheir daughtersוְאִישׁand every oneבְּשַׂר־רֵעֵהוּthe flesh of his friendיֹאכֵלוּthey shall eatבְּמָצוֹרin the siegeוּבְמָצוֹקand in the distressאֲשֶׁרwhichיָצִיקוּshall afflict themלָהֶםto themאֹיְבֵיהֶםtheir enemiesוּמְבַקְשֵׁיand those who seekנַפְשָׁם׃their lives

   And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend in the siege and straitness, wherewith their enemies, and they that seek their lives, shall straiten them.

    וְשָׁבַרְתָּand you will breakהַבַּקְבֻּקthe bottleלְעֵינֵיin the sight ofהָאֲנָשִׁיםthe menהַהֹלְכִיםthat goאוֹתָךְ׃with you

    Then shalt thou break the bottle in the sight of the men that go with thee,

    וְאָמַרְתָּand sayאֲלֵיהֶםto themכֹּה־אָמַרthus saysיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְבָאוֹתof Hostsכָּכָהeven soאֶשְׁבֹּרI will breakאֶת־הָעָםthe peopleהַזֶּהthisוְאֶת־הָעִירand the cityהַזֹּאתthisכַּאֲשֶׁרasיִשְׁבֹּרone breaksאֶת־כְּלִיa vessel ofהַיּוֹצֵרthe potterאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יוּכַלnot canלְהֵרָפֵהto be made wholeעוֹדany moreוּבְתֹפֶתand in Tophetיִקְבְּרוּthey will buryמֵאֵיןwithoutמָקוֹםa placeלִקְבּוֹר׃to bury

    And shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Even so will I break this people and this city, as one breaketh a potter's vessel, that cannot be made whole again: and they shall bury them in Tophet, till there be no place to bury.

    כֵּן־אֶעֱשֶׂהthus will I doלַמָּקוֹםthe placeהַזֶּהthisנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDוּלְיוֹשְׁבָיוand to its inhabitantsוְלָתֵתand makeאֶת־הָעִירthe cityהַזֹּאתthisכְּתֹפֶת׃like Tophet

    Thus will I do unto this place, saith the LORD, and to the inhabitants thereof, and even make this city as Tophet:

13. 13

    וְהָיוּthen they shall beבָּתֵּיthe houses ofיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםJerusalemוּבָתֵּיand houses ofמַלְכֵיkings ofיְהוּדָהJudahכִּמְקוֹםlike the place ofהַתֹּפֶתthe Tophetהַטְּמֵאִיםshall be defiledלְכֹלfor allהַבָּתִּיםthe housesאֲשֶׁרwhichקִטְּרוּthey have burned incenseעַל־גַּגֹּתֵיהֶםupon their roofsלְכֹלfor allצְבָאthe host ofהַשָּׁמַיִםthe heavensוְהַסֵּךְand have poured outנְסָכִיםdrink offeringsלֵאלֹהִים־אֲחֵרִים׃to other gods

    And the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, shall be defiled as the place of Tophet, because of all the houses upon whose roofs they have burned incense unto all the host of heaven, and have poured out drink offerings unto other gods.

14. 14

    וַיָּבֹאand cameיִרְמְיָהוּJeremiahמֵהַתֹּפֶתfrom Tophetאֲשֶׁרwhichשְׁלָחוֹhad sent himיְהֹוָהthe LORDשָׁםthereלְהִנָּבֵאto prophesyוַיַּעֲמֹדand stoodבַּחֲצַרin the courtyard ofבֵּית־יְהֹוָהthe house of the LORDוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֶל־כׇּל־הָעָם׃to all the people

    Then came Jeremiah from Tophet, whither the LORD had sent him to prophesy; and he stood in the court of the LORD's house; and said to all the people,

15. 15

    כֹּה־אָמַרthus saysיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְבָאוֹתof Hostsאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelהִנְנִיbehold Iמֵבִיwill bringאֶל־הָעִירto the cityהַזֹּאתthisוְעַל־כׇּל־עָרֶיהָand upon all her townsאֵת־כׇּל־הָרָעָהall the evilאֲשֶׁרwhichדִּבַּרְתִּיI have pronouncedעָלֶיהָupon itכִּיbecauseהִקְשׁוּthey have made stiffאֶת־עׇרְפָּםtheir necksלְבִלְתִּיto notשְׁמוֹעַto listenאֶת־דְּבָרָי׃my words

    Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon this city and upon all her towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it, because they have hardened their necks, that they might not hear my words.
