Jeremiah 15 יִרְמְיָהוּ פרק ט״ו

1. 1

   וַיֹּאמֶרand saidיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֵלַיto meאִם־יַעֲמֹדthough were to standמֹשֶׁהMosesוּשְׁמוּאֵלand Samuelלְפָנַיbefore meאֵיןcould not inclineנַפְשִׁיmy mindאֶל־הָעָםto the peopleהַזֶּהthisשַׁלַּחsend themמֵעַל־פָּנַיout of my sightוְיֵצֵאוּ׃and let them depart

   Then said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth.

2. 2

   וְהָיָהand beכִּי־יֹאמְרוּwhen shall sayאֵלֶיךָto youאָנָהwhitherנֵצֵאlet us go forthוְאָמַרְתָּand sayאֲלֵיהֶםto themכֹּה־אָמַרthus saysיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֲשֶׁרwhichלַמָּוֶתfor deathלַמָּוֶתfor deathוַאֲשֶׁרand whichלַחֶרֶבto the swordלַחֶרֶבto the swordוַאֲשֶׁרand whichלָרָעָבfor famineלָרָעָבfor famineוַאֲשֶׁרand whichלַשְּׁבִיinto the captivityלַשֶּׁבִי׃into the captivity

   And it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee, Whither shall we go forth? then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith the LORD; Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for the captivity, to the captivity.

3. 3

   וּפָקַדְתִּיand I will appointעֲלֵיהֶםupon themאַרְבַּעfourמִשְׁפָּחוֹתkinds of ravagersנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDאֶת־הַחֶרֶבthe swordלַהֲרֹגto slayוְאֶת־הַכְּלָבִיםand the dogsלִסְחֹבto drag awayוְאֶת־עוֹףand the fowl ofהַשָּׁמַיִםthe heavensוְאֶת־בֶּהֱמַתand the beasts ofהָאָרֶץthe earthלֶאֱכֹלto devourוּלְהַשְׁחִית׃and destroy

   And I will appoint over them four kinds, saith the LORD: the sword to slay, and the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to devour and destroy.

   וּנְתַתִּיםand I will give them(לזועה)[לְזַעֲוָה]into a terrorלְכֹלfor allמַמְלְכוֹתthe kingdoms ofהָאָרֶץthe earthבִּגְלַלon account ofמְנַשֶּׁהManassehבֶן־יְחִזְקִיָּהוּson of Hezekiahמֶלֶךְthe king ofיְהוּדָהJudahעַלuponאֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂהwhich didבִּירוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃in Jerusalem

   And I will cause them to be removed into all kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah king of Judah, for that which he did in Jerusalem.

5. 5

   כִּיforמִי־יַחְמֹלwho shall have pityעָלַיִךְupon youיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםJerusalemוּמִיand whosoיָנוּדshall bemoanלָךְto youוּמִיand whosoיָסוּרshall go asideלִשְׁאֹלto askלְשָׁלֹםhow you doestלָךְ׃to you

   For who shall have pity upon thee, O Jerusalem? or who shall bemoan thee? or who shall go aside to ask how thou doest?

6. 6

   אַתְּyouנָטַשְׁתְּyou hast forsakenאֹתִיmeנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDאָחוֹרbackwardתֵּלֵכִיyou art goneוָאַטtherefore will I stretch outאֶת־יָדִיmy handעָלַיִךְupon youוָאַשְׁחִיתֵךְand destroy youנִלְאֵיתִיI am wearyהִנָּחֵם׃of relenting

   Thou hast forsaken me, saith the LORD, thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am weary with repenting.

7. 7

   וָאֶזְרֵםand I will winnow themבְּמִזְרֶהwith a winnowing forkבְּשַׁעֲרֵיin the gates ofהָאָרֶץthe landשִׁכַּלְתִּיI will bereave them of childrenאִבַּדְתִּיI will destroyאֶת־עַמִּיmy peopleמִדַּרְכֵיהֶםfrom their waysלוֹא־שָׁבוּ׃since they return not

   And I will fan them with a fan in the gates of the land; I will bereave them of children, I will destroy my people, since they return not from their ways.

8. 8

   עָצְמוּ־לִיare increased to meאַלְמְנוֹתָוtheir widowsמֵחוֹלmore than the sand ofיַמִּיםseasהֵבֵאתִיI have broughtלָהֶםto themעַל־אֵםupon the mother ofבָּחוּרof the young menשֹׁדֵדa spoilerבַּצׇּהֳרָיִםat the noonהִפַּלְתִּיI have made fallעָלֶיהָupon itפִּתְאֹםsuddenlyעִירtumultוּבֶהָלוֹת׃and sudden terror

   Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas: I have brought upon them against the mother of the young men a spoiler at noonday: I have caused him to fall upon it suddenly, and terrors upon the city.

9. 9

   אֻמְלְלָהlanguishesיֹלֶדֶתshe that has bornהַשִּׁבְעָהthe seven childrenנָפְחָהshe has fainted awayנַפְשָׁהּher soul(באה)[בָּא]cameשִׁמְשָׁהּher sunבְּעֹדwhile stillיוֹמָםby dayבּוֹשָׁהshe is ashamedוְחָפֵרָהand confoundedוּשְׁאֵרִיתָםand their remnantלַחֶרֶבto the swordאֶתֵּןwill I deliverלִפְנֵיbeforeאֹיְבֵיהֶםtheir enemiesנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃says the LORD

   She that hath borne seven languisheth: she hath given up the ghost; her sun is gone down while it was yet day: she hath been ashamed and confounded: and the residue of them will I deliver to the sword before their enemies, saith the LORD.

10. 10

    אוֹי־לִיwoe is meאִמִּיmy motherכִּיthatיְלִדְתִּנִיyou hast born meאִישׁa manרִיבof strifeוְאִישׁand a manמָדוֹןof contentionלְכׇל־הָאָרֶץto the whole earthלֹא־נָשִׁיתִיnot I have lentוְלֹא־נָשׁוּ־בִיnor have men lent to meכֻּלֹּהevery one of themמְקַלְלַוְנִי׃are cursing me

    Woe is me, my mother, that thou hast borne me a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent on usury, nor men have lent to me on usury; yet every one of them doth curse me.

11. 11

    אָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDאִם־לֹאif not[שֵׁרִיתִיךָ]have I provided for youלְטוֹבfor welfareאִם־לוֹאif notהִפְגַּעְתִּיhave I made entreatבְךָyour intercessionבְּעֵתin the time ofרָעָהevilוּבְעֵתand at the timeצָרָהafflictionאֶת־הָאֹיֵב׃the enemy

    The LORD said, Verily it shall be well with thy remnant; verily I will cause the enemy to entreat thee well in the time of evil and in the time of affliction.

12. 12

    הֲיָרֹעַwill it breakבַּרְזֶלironבַּרְזֶלironמִצָּפוֹןfrom the northוּנְחֹשֶׁת׃and of brass

    Shall iron break the northern iron and the steel?

13. 13

    חֵילְךָyour wealthוְאוֹצְרוֹתֶיךָand your treasuresלָבַזto the spoilאֶתֵּןwill I giveלֹאnotבִמְחִירfor priceוּבְכׇל־חַטֹּאותֶיךָand in all your sinsוּבְכׇל־גְּבוּלֶיךָ׃and in all your territories

    Thy substance and thy treasures will I give to the spoil without price, and that for all thy sins, even in all thy borders.

14. 14

    וְהַעֲבַרְתִּיand I will cause you to passאֶת־אֹיְבֶיךָwith your enemiesבְּאֶרֶץin the land ofלֹאnotיָדָעְתָּyou knowstכִּי־אֵשׁbecause fireקָדְחָהis kindledבְאַפִּיin my angerעֲלֵיכֶםover youתּוּקָד׃it will burn

    And I will make thee to pass with thine enemies into a land which thou knowest not: for a fire is kindled in mine anger, which shall burn upon you.

15. 15

    אַתָּהyouיָדַעְתָּYou knowstיְהֹוָהthe LORDזׇכְרֵנִיremember meוּפׇקְדֵנִיand be mindful of meוְהִנָּקֶםand revenge meלִיto meמֵרֹדְפַיof my persecutorsאַל־לְאֶרֶךְnot in the long suffering ofאַפְּךָYour angerתִּקָּחֵנִיyou will take meדַּעknowשְׂאֵתִיI have sufferedעָלֶיךָfor Your sakeחֶרְפָּה׃reproach

    O LORD, thou knowest: remember me, and visit me, and revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering: know that for thy sake I have suffered rebuke.

16. 16

    נִמְצְאוּthey were foundדְבָרֶיךָyour wordsוָאֹכְלֵםand I ate themוַיְהִיand it came to pass(דבריך)[דְבָרְךָ]your wordלִיto meלְשָׂשׂוֹןthe joyוּלְשִׂמְחַתand rejoicing ofלְבָבִיmy heartכִּי־נִקְרָאfor I am calledשִׁמְךָyour nameעָלַיupon meיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofצְבָאוֹת׃Hosts

    Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.

17. 17

    לֹא־יָשַׁבְתִּיI sat notבְסוֹד־מְשַׂחֲקִיםin the assembly of the merrymakersוָאֶעְלֹזnor rejoicedמִפְּנֵיbecause ofיָדְךָyour handבָּדָדaloneיָשַׁבְתִּיI satכִּי־זַעַםfor with indignationמִלֵּאתָנִי׃You hast filled me

    I sat not in the assembly of the mockers, nor rejoiced; I sat alone because of thy hand: for thou hast filled me with indignation.

18. 18

    לָמָּהwhyהָיָהwasכְאֵבִיmy painנֶצַחperpetualוּמַכָּתִיand my woundאֲנוּשָׁהincurableמֵאֲנָהrefusingהֵרָפֵאto be healedהָיוֹwill Youתִהְיֶהbeלִיto meכְּמוֹlikeאַכְזָבa deceitful streamמַיִםwaterלֹאnotנֶאֱמָנוּ׃that fail

    Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuseth to be healed? wilt thou be altogether unto me as a liar, and as waters that fail?

19. 19

    לָכֵןthereforeכֹּה־אָמַרthus saysיְהֹוָהthe LORDאִם־תָּשׁוּבif you returnוַאֲשִׁיבְךָand I will restore youלְפָנַיbefore meתַּעֲמֹדyou shall standוְאִם־תּוֹצִיאand if you will bring outיָקָרthe preciousמִזּוֹלֵלfrom the vileכְּפִיas my mouthתִהְיֶהyou shall beיָשֻׁבוּlet returnהֵמָּהtheyאֵלֶיךָto youוְאַתָּהand youלֹא־תָשׁוּבnot returnאֲלֵיהֶם׃to them

    Therefore thus saith the LORD, If thou return, then will I bring thee again, and thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return unto thee; but return not thou unto them.

20. 20

    וּנְתַתִּיךָand I will make youלָעָםto the peopleהַזֶּהthisלְחוֹמַתa wall ofנְחֹשֶׁתbrassבְּצוּרָהfortifiedוְנִלְחֲמוּand they will fightאֵלֶיךָagainst youוְלֹא־יוּכְלוּbut they shall not prevailלָךְagainst youכִּי־אִתְּךָbecause with youאֲנִיIלְהוֹשִׁיעֲךָto save youוּלְהַצִּילֶךָand to deliver youנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃says the LORD

    And I will make thee unto this people a fenced brasen wall: and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I am with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the LORD.

21. 21

    וְהִצַּלְתִּיךָand I will deliver youמִיַּדfrom the hand ofרָעִיםthe wickedוּפְדִתִיךָand I will ransom youמִכַּףout of the hand ofעָרִצִים׃the terrible

    And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible.
