   The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

   שִׁמְעוּshim/Uhearאֶת־דִּבְרֵיet-div/REthe words ofהַבְּרִיתhab/be/RITthe covenantהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisוְדִבַּרְתֶּםve/dib/bar/TEMand speakאֶל־אִישׁel-ishto the men ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahוְעַל־יֹשְׁבֵיve/AL-yosh/VEand to the inhabitants ofיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃Ye/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalem

   Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;

   וְאָמַרְתָּve/a/mar/TAand sayאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themכֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאָרוּרa/RURcursed beהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹאlodoes notיִשְׁמַעyish/MAobeyאֶת־דִּבְרֵיet-div/REthe words ofהַבְּרִיתhab/be/RITthe covenantהַזֹּאת׃haz/ZOTthis

   And say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant,

   Which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God:

   לְמַעַןle/MA/anin order thatהָקִיםha/KIMI may establishאֶת־הַשְּׁבוּעָהet-hash/she/vu/Athe oathאֲשֶׁר־נִשְׁבַּעְתִּיa/SHER-nish/BA/tiwhich I have swornלַאֲבוֹתֵיכֶםla/a/vo/te/KHEMto your fathersלָתֵתla/TETto giveלָהֶםla/HEMto themאֶרֶץE/retsa landזָבַתza/VATflowing withחָלָבcha/LAVmilkוּדְבַשׁu/de/VASHand honeyכַּיּוֹםkay/YOMas the dayהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוָאַעַןva/A/anthen I answeredוָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidאָמֵןa/MENamenיְהֹוָה׃AdonaiO LORD

   That I may perform the oath which I have sworn unto your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day. Then answered I, and said, So be it, O LORD.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֵלַיe/LAYto meקְרָאke/RAproclaimאֶת־כׇּל־הַדְּבָרִיםet-kol-had/de/va/RIMall the wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseבְּעָרֵיbe/a/REin the cities ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahוּבְחֻצוֹתu/ve/chu/TSOTand in the streets ofיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingשִׁמְעוּshim/Uhearאֶת־דִּבְרֵיet-div/REthe words ofהַבְּרִיתhab/be/RITthe covenantהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisוַעֲשִׂיתֶםva/a/si/TEMand doאוֹתָם׃o/TAMthem

   Then the LORD said unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them.

   כִּיkiforהָעֵדha/EDwarnהַעִדֹתִיha/i/DO/tiI warnedבַּאֲבוֹתֵיכֶםba/a/vo/te/KHEMyour fathersבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the day ofהַעֲלוֹתִיha/a/lo/TII brought upאוֹתָםo/TAMthemמֵאֶרֶץme/E/retsfrom the land ofמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptוְעַד־הַיּוֹםve/AD-hay/YOMand to the dayהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisהַשְׁכֵּםhash/KEMrising earlyוְהָעֵדve/ha/EDand warningלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingשִׁמְעוּshim/Uobeyבְּקוֹלִי׃be/ko/LImy voice

   For I earnestly protested unto your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice.

   וְלֹאve/LOand notשָׁמְעוּsha/me/Uthey obeyedוְלֹא־הִטּוּve/LO-hit/TUnor inclinedאֶת־אׇזְנָםet-oz/NAMtheir earוַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUbut walkedאִישׁishevery oneבִּשְׁרִירוּתbish/ri/RUTin the stubbornness ofלִבָּםlib/BAMtheir heartsהָרָעha/RAevilוָאָבִיאva/a/VIso I broughtעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMupon themאֶת־כׇּל־דִּבְרֵיet-kol-div/REall the words ofהַבְּרִית־הַזֹּאתhab/be/RIT-haz/ZOTthis covenantאֲשֶׁר־צִוִּיתִיa/SHER-tsiv/VI/tiwhich I commanded themלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doוְלֹאve/LOand notעָשׂוּ׃a/SUthey did them

   Yet they obeyed not, nor inclined their ear, but walked every one in the imagination of their evil heart: therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do; but they did them not.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֵלָיe/LAYto meנִמְצָא־קֶשֶׁרnim/TSA-KE/shera conspiracy is foundבְּאִישׁbe/ISHamong the men ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahוּבְיֹשְׁבֵיu/ve/yosh/VEand among the inhabitants ofיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃Ye/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalem

   And the LORD said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

    שָׁבוּSHA/vuthey have turned backעַל־עֲוֺנֹתal-a/vo/NOTto the iniquities ofאֲבוֹתָםa/vo/TAMtheir fathersהָרִאשֹׁנִיםha/ri/sho/NIMformerאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoמֵאֲנוּme/a/NUrefusedלִשְׁמוֹעַlish/MO/ato hearאֶת־דְּבָרַיet-de/va/RAYmy wordsוְהֵמָּהve/HEM/maand they haveהָלְכוּha/le/KHUgoneאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterאֱלֹהִים־אֲחֵרִיםe/lo/HIM-a/che/RIMother godsלְעׇבְדָםle/ov/DAMto serve themהֵפֵרוּhe/FE/ruhave brokenבֵית־יִשְׂרָאֵלvet-Yis/ra/ELthe house of Israelוּבֵיתu/VETand the house ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahאֶת־בְּרִיתִיet-be/ri/TImy covenantאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichכָּרַתִּיka/RAT/tiI madeאֶת־אֲבוֹתָם׃et-a/vo/TAMwith their fathers

    They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeכֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iמֵבִיאme/VIwill bringאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMon themרָעָהra/Aevilאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלֹא־יוּכְלוּlo-yukh/LUthey will not be ableלָצֵאתla/TSETto escapeמִמֶּנָּהmim/MEN/nafrom itוְזָעֲקוּve/za/a/KUand they will cry outאֵלַיe/LAYto meוְלֹאve/LObut notאֶשְׁמַעesh/MAwill I listenאֲלֵיהֶם׃a/le/HEMto them

    Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.

12. 12

    וְהָלְכוּve/ha/le/KHUthen will goעָרֵיa/REthe cities ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahוְיֹשְׁבֵיve/yosh/VEand the inhabitants ofיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemוְזָעֲקוּve/za/a/KUand cryאֶל־הָאֱלֹהִיםel-ha/e/lo/HIMto the godsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERto whomהֵםhemtheyמְקַטְּרִיםme/kat/te/RIMburn incenseלָהֶםla/HEMto themוְהוֹשֵׁעַve/ho/SHE/asaveלֹא־יוֹשִׁיעוּlo-yo/SHI/uthey will not saveלָהֶםla/HEMthemבְּעֵתbe/ETin the time ofרָעָתָם׃ra/a/TAMtheir trouble

    Then shall the cities of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem go, and cry unto the gods unto whom they offer incense: but they shall not save them at all in the time of their trouble.

    כִּיkiforמִסְפַּרmis/PARthe number ofעָרֶיךָa/RE/khayour citiesהָיוּha/YUareאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour godsיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAO Judahוּמִסְפַּרu/mis/PARand the number ofחֻצוֹתchu/TSOTthe streets ofיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemשַׂמְתֶּםsam/TEMyou have set upמִזְבְּחוֹתmiz/be/CHOTaltarsלַבֹּשֶׁתlab/BO/shetto the shameful thingמִזְבְּחוֹתmiz/be/CHOTaltarsלְקַטֵּרle/kat/TERto burn incenseלַבָּעַל׃lab/BA/alto Baal

    For according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to that shameful thing, even altars to burn incense unto Baal.

14. 14

    וְאַתָּהve/at/TAand youאַל־תִּתְפַּלֵּלal-tit/pal/LELdo not prayבְּעַד־הָעָםbe/AD-ha/AMon behalf of the peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוְאַל־תִּשָּׂאve/AL-tis/SAnor lift upבַעֲדָםva/a/DAMfor themרִנָּהrin/NAa cryוּתְפִלָּהu/te/fil/LAand prayerכִּיkiforאֵינֶנִּיe/NEN/niI will notשֹׁמֵעַsho/ME/ahearבְּעֵתbe/ETin the timeקׇרְאָםkor/AMthey cryאֵלַיe/LAYto meבְּעַדbe/ADbecause ofרָעָתָם׃ra/a/TAMtheir trouble

    Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them: for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto me for their trouble.

15. 15

    מֶהmewhatלִידִידִיli/di/DIhas my belovedבְּבֵיתִיbe/ve/TIin my houseעֲשׂוֹתָהּa/so/TAto doהַמְזִמָּתָהham/zim/MA/talewdnessהָרַבִּיםha/rab/BIMwith manyוּבְשַׂר־קֹדֶשׁu/ve/SAR-KO/deshand the holy fleshיַעַבְרוּya/av/RUhas passedמֵעָלָיִךְme/a/LA/yikhfrom youכִּיkiwhenרָעָתֵכִיra/a/TE/khiyou do evilאָזazthenתַּעֲלֹזִי׃ta/a/LO/ziyou rejoice

    What hath my beloved to do in mine house, seeing she hath wrought lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from thee? when thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest.

16. 16

    זַיִתZA/yitan olive treeרַעֲנָןra/a/NANgreenיְפֵהye/FEfair withפְרִי־תֹאַרfe/RI-TO/argoodly fruitקָרָאka/RAcalledיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDשְׁמֵךְshe/MEKHyour nameלְקוֹלle/KOLwith the noise ofהֲמוּלָּהha/mul/LAa tumultגְדֹלָהge/do/LAgreatהִצִּיתhits/TSITHe has kindledאֵשׁeshfireעָלֶיהָa/LE/haon itוְרָעוּve/ra/Uand are brokenדָּלִיּוֹתָיו׃da/liy/yo/TAYVits branches

    The LORD called thy name, A green olive tree, fair, and of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken.

    וַיהֹוָהve-Adonaiand the LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsהַנּוֹטֵעַhan/no/TE/awho plantedאוֹתָךְo/TAKHyouדִּבֶּרdib/BERhas pronouncedעָלַיִךְa/LA/yikhagainst youרָעָהra/Aevilבִּגְלַלbig/LALbecause ofרָעַתra/ATthe evil ofבֵּית־יִשְׂרָאֵלbet-Yis/ra/ELthe house of Israelוּבֵיתu/VETand the house ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichעָשׂוּa/SUthey have doneלָהֶםla/HEMfor themselvesלְהַכְעִסֵנִיle/hakh/i/SE/nito provoke me to angerלְקַטֵּרle/kat/TERby burning incenseלַבָּעַל׃lab/BA/alto Baal

    For the LORD of hosts, that planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Baal.

18. 18

    וַיהֹוָהve-Adonaiand the LORDהוֹדִיעַנִיho/di/A/nimade it known to meוָאֵדָעָהva/e/DA/aand I knew itאָזazthenהִרְאִיתַנִיhir/i/TA/niYou showed meמַעַלְלֵיהֶם׃ma/al/le/HEMtheir doings

    And the LORD hath given me knowledge of it, and I know it: then thou shewedst me their doings.

19. 19

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iכְּכֶבֶשׂke/KHE/veslike a lambאַלּוּףal/LUFgentleיוּבַלyu/VALledלִטְבוֹחַlit/VO/achto the slaughterוְלֹא־יָדַעְתִּיve/LO-ya/DA/tiand I did not knowכִּי־עָלַיki-a/LAYthat against meחָשְׁבוּcha/she/VUthey devisedמַחֲשָׁבוֹתma/cha/sha/VOTschemesנַשְׁחִיתָהnash/CHI/talet us destroyעֵץetsa treeבְּלַחְמוֹbe/lach/MOwith its fruitוְנִכְרְתֶנּוּve/nikh/re/TEN/nuand let us cut him offמֵאֶרֶץme/E/retsfrom the land ofחַיִּיםchay/YIMthe livingוּשְׁמוֹu/she/MOthat his nameלֹא־יִזָּכֵרlo-yiz/za/KHERwill not be rememberedעוֹד׃odagain

    But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.

    וַיהֹוָהve-Adonaiand the LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsשֹׁפֵטsho/FETwho judgesצֶדֶקTSE/dekrighteouslyבֹּחֵןbo/CHENwho testsכְּלָיוֹתke/la/YOTthe kidneysוָלֵבva/LEVand the heartאֶרְאֶהer/Elet me seeנִקְמָתְךָnik/ma/te/KHAYour vengeanceמֵהֶםme/HEMon themכִּיkiforאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato Youגִּלִּיתִיgil/LI/tiI have revealedאֶת־רִיבִי׃et-ri/VImy cause

    But, O LORD of hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I revealed my cause.

21. 21

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeכֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעַל־אַנְשֵׁיal-an/SHEconcerning the men ofעֲנָתוֹתA/na/TOTAnathothהַמְבַקְשִׁיםham/vak/SHIMwho seekאֶת־נַפְשְׁךָet-naf/she/KHAyour lifeלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingלֹאlodo notתִנָּבֵאtin/na/VEprophesyבְּשֵׁםbe/SHEMin the name ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְלֹאve/LOthat notתָמוּתta/MUTyou dieבְּיָדֵנוּ׃be/ya/DE/nuin our hand

    Therefore thus saith the LORD of the men of Anathoth, that seek thy life, saying, Prophesy not in the name of the LORD, that thou die not by our hand:

22. 22

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeכֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iפֹקֵדfo/KEDwill punishעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMthemהַבַּחוּרִיםhab/ba/chu/RIMthe young menיָמֻתוּya/MU/tuwill dieבַחֶרֶבva/CHE/revby the swordבְּנֵיהֶםbe/ne/HEMtheir sonsוּבְנוֹתֵיהֶםu/ve/no/te/HEMand their daughtersיָמֻתוּya/MU/tuwill dieבָּרָעָב׃ba/ra/AVby famine

    Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will punish them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine:

23. 23

    וּשְׁאֵרִיתu/she/e/RITand a remnantלֹאlonoתִהְיֶהtih/YEwill there beלָהֶםla/HEMto themכִּי־אָבִיאki-a/VIfor I will bringרָעָהra/Aevilאֶל־אַנְשֵׁיel-an/SHEon the men ofעֲנָתוֹתA/na/TOTAnathothשְׁנַתshe/NATthe year ofפְּקֻדָּתָם׃pe/kud/da/TAMtheir punishment

    And there shall be no remnant of them: for I will bring evil upon the men of Anathoth, even the year of their visitation.
