Isaiah 8 יְשַׁעְיָהוּ פרק ח׳

   Moreover the LORD said unto me, Take thee a great roll, and write in it with a man's pen concerning Maher-shalal-hash-baz.

   And I took unto me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.

   וָאֶקְרַבva/ek/RAVand-I-came-nearאֶל־הַנְּבִיאָהel-han/ne/vi/Aunto-the-prophetessוַתַּהַרvat/TA/harand-she-conceivedוַתֵּלֶדvat/TE/ledand-boreבֵּןbena-sonוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand-saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe-LORDאֵלַיe/LAYto-meקְרָאke/RAcallשְׁמוֹshe/MOhis-nameמַהֵרMa/HERMaher-שָׁלָלsha/LALshalal-חָשׁchashhash-בַּז׃bazbaz

   And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bare a son. Then said the LORD to me, Call his name Maher-shalal-hash-baz.

   For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.

   The LORD spake also unto me again, saying,

   יַעַןYA/anbecauseכִּיkithatמָאַסma/ASrefusesהָעָםha/AMthe-peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֵת־מֵיet-methe-waters-ofהַשִּׁלֹחַHash/shi/LO/achShiloahהַהֹלְכִיםha/hol/KHIMthat-goלְאַטle/ATsoftlyוּמְשׂוֹשׂu/me/SOSand-rejoicingאֶת־רְצִיןet-Re/TSINRezinוּבֶן־רְמַלְיָהוּ׃u/VEN-re/mal/YA/huand-the-son-of-Remaliah

   Forasmuch as this people refuseth the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah's son;

   וְלָכֵןve/la/KHENand-thereforeהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe-Lordמַעֲלֶהma/a/LEbrings-upעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMupon-themאֶת־מֵיet-methe-waters-ofהַנָּהָרhan/na/HARthe-riverהָעֲצוּמִיםha/a/tsu/MIMthe-strongוְהָרַבִּיםve/ha/rab/BIMand-the-manyאֶת־מֶלֶךְet-ME/lekhthe-king-ofאַשּׁוּרAsh/SHURAssyriaוְאֶת־כׇּל־כְּבוֹדוֹve/ET-kol-ke/vo/DOand-all-his-gloryוְעָלָהve/a/LAand-he-shall-come-upעַל־כׇּל־אֲפִיקָיוal-kol-a/fi/KAYVover-all-its-channelsוְהָלַךְve/ha/LAKHand-he-shall-goעַל־כׇּל־גְּדוֹתָיו׃al-kol-ge/do/TAYVover-all-its-banks

   Now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters of the river, strong and many, even the king of Assyria, and all his glory: and he shall come up over all his channels, and go over all his banks:

   וְחָלַףve/cha/LAFand-he-shall-sweepבִּיהוּדָהbI/hu/DAthrough-Judahשָׁטַףsha/TAFhe-shall-overflowוְעָבַרve/a/VARand-go-overעַד־צַוָּארad-tsav/VAReven-to-the-neckיַגִּיעַyag/GI/ahe-shall-reachוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand-it-shall-beמֻטּוֹתmut/TOTthe-stretching-out-ofכְּנָפָיוke/na/FAYVhis-wingsמְלֹאme/LOthe-fullness-ofרֹחַב־אַרְצְךָRO/chav-ar/tse/KHAthe-breadth-of-your-landעִמָּנוּIm/MA/nuO-Immanu-אֵל׃elel

   And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel.

   רֹעוּRO/uassociate-yourselvesעַמִּיםam/MIMO-peoplesוָחֹתּוּva/CHOT/tuand-be-brokenוְהַאֲזִינוּve/ha/a/ZI/nuand-listenכֹּלkolallמֶרְחַקֵּי־אָרֶץmer/chak/KE-A/retsfar-places-of-the-earthהִתְאַזְּרוּhit/az/ze/RUgird-yourselvesוָחֹתּוּva/CHOT/tuand-be-brokenהִתְאַזְּרוּhit/az/ze/RUgird-yourselvesוָחֹתּוּ׃va/CHOT/tuand-be-broken

   Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces.

    עֻצוּU/tsutake-counselעֵצָהe/TSAcounselוְתֻפָרve/tu/FARand-it-shall-come-to-naughtדַּבְּרוּdab/be/RUspeakדָבָרda/VARa-wordוְלֹאve/LOand-notיָקוּםya/KUMit-shall-standכִּיkiforעִמָּנוּim/MA/nuwith-usאֵל׃elGod

    Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.

11. 11

    כִּיkiforכֹהkhothusאָמַרa/MARsaidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe-LORDאֵלַיe/LAYto-meכְּחֶזְקַתke/chez/KATwith-the-strength-ofהַיָּדhay/YADthe-handוְיִסְּרֵנִיve/yis/se/RE/niand-instructed-meמִלֶּכֶתmil/LE/khetfrom-walkingבְּדֶרֶךְbe/DE/rekhin-the-way-ofהָעָם־הַזֶּהha/AM-haz/ZEthis-peopleלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    For the LORD spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying,

    לֹא־תֹאמְרוּןlo-to/me/RUNyou-shall-not-sayקֶשֶׁרKE/shera-conspiracyלְכֹלle/KHOLfor-allאֲשֶׁר־יֹאמַרa/SHER-yo/MARthat-shall-sayהָעָםha/AMthe-peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisקָשֶׁרKA/shera-conspiracyוְאֶת־מוֹרָאוֹve/ET-mo/ra/Oand-his-fearלֹא־תִירְאוּlo-ti/re/Uyou-shall-not-fearוְלֹאve/LOand-notתַעֲרִיצוּ׃ta/a/RI/tsube-in-dread

    Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid.

13. 13

    אֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe-LORDצְבָאוֹתTse/va/OTof-Hostsאֹתוֹo/TOHimתַקְדִּישׁוּtak/DI/shuyou-shall-sanctifyוְהוּאve/HUand-Heמוֹרַאֲכֶםmo/ra/a/KHEMyour-fearוְהוּאve/HUand-Heמַעֲרִצְכֶם׃ma/a/rits/KHEMyour-dread

    Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.

14. 14

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand-He-shall-beלְמִקְדָּשׁle/mik/DASHfor-a-sanctuaryוּלְאֶבֶןu/le/E/venand-for-a-stone-ofנֶגֶףNE/gefstumblingוּלְצוּרu/le/TSURand-for-a-rock-ofמִכְשׁוֹלmikh/SHOLoffenseלִשְׁנֵיlish/NEto-bothבָתֵּיvat/TEthe-houses-ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelלְפַחle/FACHfor-a-trapוּלְמוֹקֵשׁu/le/mo/KESHand-for-a-snareלְיוֹשֵׁבle/yo/SHEVto-the-inhabitant-ofיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃Ye/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalem

    And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

15. 15

    וְכָשְׁלוּve/kha/she/LUand-shall-stumbleבָםvamamong-themרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyוְנָפְלוּve/na/fe/LUand-they-shall-fallוְנִשְׁבָּרוּve/nish/BA/ruand-be-brokenוְנוֹקְשׁוּve/nok/SHUand-be-snaredוְנִלְכָּדוּ׃ve/nil/KA/duand-be-taken

    And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.

16. 16

    צוֹרtsorbind-upתְּעוּדָהte/u/DAthe-testimonyחֲתוֹםcha/TOMsealתּוֹרָהto/RAlawבְּלִמֻּדָי׃be/lim/mu/DAYamong-my-disciples

    Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.

17. 17

    וְחִכִּיתִיve/chik/KI/tiand-I-will-waitלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaifor-the-LORDהַמַּסְתִּירham/mas/TIRthe-one-who-hidesפָּנָיוpa/NAYVHis-faceמִבֵּיתmib/BETfrom-the-house-ofיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobוְקִוֵּיתִי־לוֹ׃ve/kiv/VE/ti-loand-I-will-hope-for-Him

    And I will wait upon the LORD, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.

18. 18

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIוְהַיְלָדִיםve/hay/la/DIMand-the-childrenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנָתַן־לִיna/TAN-lihas-given-meיְהֹוָהAdonaithe-LORDלְאֹתוֹתle/o/TOTfor-signsוּלְמוֹפְתִיםu/le/mof/TIMand-for-portentsבְּיִשְׂרָאֵלbe/Yis/ra/ELin-Israelמֵעִםme/IMfromיְהֹוָהAdonaithe-LORDצְבָאוֹתTse/va/OTof-Hostsהַשֹּׁכֵןhash/sho/KHENthe-one-who-dwellsבְּהַרbe/HARon-the-mount-ofצִיּוֹן׃Tsiy/YONZion

    Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.

19. 19

    וְכִי־יֹאמְרוּve/KHI-yo/me/RUand-when-they-shall-sayאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMunto-youדִּרְשׁוּdir/SHUseekאֶל־הָאֹבוֹתel-ha/o/VOTunto-the-mediumsוְאֶל־הַיִּדְּעֹנִיםve/EL-hay/yid/de/o/NIMand-unto-the-wizardsהַמְצַפְצְפִיםham/tsaf/tse/FIMthat-chirpוְהַמַּהְגִּיםve/ham/mah/GIMand-that-mutterהֲלוֹא־עַםha/LO-amis-it-not-a-peopleאֶל־אֱלֹהָיוel-e/lo/HAYVunto-his-Godיִדְרֹשׁyid/ROSHseekבְּעַדbe/ADforהַחַיִּיםha/chay/YIMthe-livingאֶל־הַמֵּתִים׃el-ham/me/TIMto-the-dead

    And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?

20. 20

    לְתוֹרָהle/to/RAto-the-lawוְלִתְעוּדָהve/lit/u/DAand-to-the-testimonyאִם־לֹאim-losurelyיֹאמְרוּyo/me/RUthey-will-speakכַּדָּבָרkad/da/VARaccording-to-the-wordהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאֵין־לוֹen-loit-has-noשָׁחַר׃SHA/chardawn

    To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

21. 21

    וְעָבַרve/a/VARand-shall-passבָּהּbain-itנִקְשֶׁהnik/SHEgreatly-distressedוְרָעֵבve/ra/EVand-hungryוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand-it-shall-beכִי־יִרְעַבkhi-yir/AVwhen-he-hungersוְהִתְקַצַּףve/hit/kats/TSAFand-he-shall-be-enragedוְקִלֵּלve/kil/LELand-curseבְּמַלְכּוֹbe/mal/KOby-his-kingוּבֵאלֹהָיוu/ve/lo/HAYVand-by-his-Godוּפָנָהu/fa/NAand-lookלְמָעְלָה׃le/MA/laupward

    And they shall pass through it, hardly bestead and hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse their king and their God, and look upward.

22. 22

    וְאֶל־אֶרֶץve/EL-E/retsand-unto-the-earthיַבִּיטyab/BIThe-shall-lookוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand-beholdצָרָהtsa/RAafflictionוַחֲשֵׁכָהva/cha/she/KHAand-darknessמְעוּףme/UFdimness-ofצוּקָהtsu/KAanguishוַאֲפֵלָהva/a/fe/LAand-gloomמְנֻדָּח׃me/nud/DACHdriven-away

    And they shall look unto the earth; and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish; and they shall be driven to darkness.

    כִּיkiforלֹאlonotמוּעָףmu/AFgloomלַאֲשֶׁרla/a/SHERfor-that-whichמוּצָקmu/TSAKwas-in-distressלָהּlato-herכָּעֵתka/ETas-at-the-timeהָרִאשׁוֹןha/ri/SHONthe-firstהֵקַלhe/KALhe-made-lightאַרְצָהAR/tsathe-land-ofזְבֻלוּןZe/vu/LUNZebulunוְאַרְצָהve/AR/tsaand-the-land-ofנַפְתָּלִיNaf/ta/LINaphtaliוְהָאַחֲרוֹןve/ha/a/cha/RONand-the-latterהִכְבִּידhikh/BIDhe-made-heavyדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhthe-way-ofהַיָּםhay/YAMthe-seaעֵבֶרE/verbeyondהַיַּרְדֵּןhay/Yar/DENthe-JordanגְּלִילGe/LILthe-Galilee-ofהַגּוֹיִם׃hag/go/YIMthe-nations

    Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.
