   The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

   Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.

   The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.

   Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.

   Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

   From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.

   Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

   וְנוֹתְרָהve/not/RAand-is-leftבַת־צִיּוֹןvat-Tsiy/YONthe-daughter-of-Zionכְּסֻכָּהke/suk/KAas-a-boothבְכָרֶםve/KHA/remin-a-vineyardכִּמְלוּנָהkim/lu/NAas-a-lodgeבְמִקְשָׁהve/mik/SHAin-a-garden-of-cucumbersכְּעִירke/IRas-a-cityנְצוּרָה׃ne/tsu/RAbesieged

   And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city.

   Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.

    Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.

    To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.

    When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?

13. 13

    לֹאlonotתוֹסִיפוּto/SI/fuyou-shall-addהָבִיאha/VIto-bringמִנְחַת־שָׁוְאmin/CHAT-shavan-offering-of-vanityקְטֹרֶתke/TO/retincenseתּוֹעֵבָהto/e/VAan-abominationהִיאhiitלִיlito-meחֹדֶשׁCHO/deshnew-moonוְשַׁבָּתve/shab/BATand-sabbathקְרֹאke/ROthe-calling-ofמִקְרָאmik/RAassemblyלֹא־אוּכַלlo-u/KHALI-cannotאָוֶןA/veniniquityוַעֲצָרָה׃va/a/tsa/RAand-a-solemn-assembly

    Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.

    Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.

    וּבְפָרִשְׂכֶםu/ve/fa/ris/KHEMand-when-you-spread-forthכַּפֵּיכֶםkap/pe/KHEMyour-palmsאַעְלִיםa/LIMI-will-hideעֵינַיe/NAYmy-eyesמִכֶּםmik/KEMfrom-youגַּםgamalsoכִּי־תַרְבּוּki-tar/BUwhen-you-make-manyתְפִלָּהte/fil/LAprayerאֵינֶנִּיe/NEN/niI-am-notשֹׁמֵעַsho/ME/ahearingיְדֵיכֶםye/de/KHEMyour-handsדָּמִיםda/MIMbloodמָלֵאוּ׃ma/LE/uare-full

    And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

    Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;

    לִמְדוּlim/DUlearnהֵיטֵבhe/TEVto-do-wellדִּרְשׁוּdir/SHUseekמִשְׁפָּטmish/PATjudgmentאַשְּׁרוּash/she/RUset-rightחָמוֹץcha/MOTSthe-oppressedשִׁפְטוּshif/TUjudgeיָתוֹםya/TOMa-fatherless-oneרִיבוּRI/vuplead-forאַלְמָנָה׃al/ma/NAa-widow

    Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

18. 18

    לְכוּ־נָאle/KHU-nacome-nowוְנִוָּכְחָהve/niv/va/khe/CHAand-let-us-reason-togetherיֹאמַרyo/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe-LORDאִם־יִהְיוּim-yih/YUif-shall-beחֲטָאֵיכֶםcha/ta/e/KHEMyour-sinsכַּשָּׁנִיםkash/sha/NIMas-scarletכַּשֶּׁלֶגkash/SHE/legas-snowיַלְבִּינוּyal/BI/nuthey-shall-be-whiteאִם־יַאְדִּימוּim-ya/DI/muif-they-be-redכַתּוֹלָעkhat/to/LAlike-crimsonכַּצֶּמֶרkats/TSE/meras-woolיִהְיוּ׃yih/YUthey-shall-be

    Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

19. 19

    אִם־תֹּאבוּim-to/VUif-you-are-willingוּשְׁמַעְתֶּםu/she/ma/TEMand-you-hearkenטוּבtuvthe-good-ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe-landתֹּאכֵלוּ׃to/KHE/luyou-shall-eat

    If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:

20. 20

    וְאִם־תְּמָאֲנוּve/IM-te/ma/a/NUbut-if-you-refuseוּמְרִיתֶםu/me/ri/TEMand-you-rebelחֶרֶבCHE/revswordתְּאֻכְּלוּte/uk/ke/LUyou-shall-be-devouredכִּיkiforפִּיpithe-mouth-ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe-LORDדִּבֵּר׃dib/BERhas-spoken

    But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

21. 21

    אֵיכָהe/KHAhowהָיְתָהha/ye/TAhas-becomeלְזוֹנָהle/zo/NAa-harlotקִרְיָהkir/YAthe-cityנֶאֱמָנָהne/e/ma/NAfaithfulמְלֵאֲתִיme/le/a/TIit-was-full-ofמִשְׁפָּטmish/PATjudgmentצֶדֶקTSE/dekrighteousnessיָלִיןya/LINlodgedבָּהּbain-itוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand-nowמְרַצְּחִים׃me/rats/tse/CHIMmurderers

    How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.

22. 22

    כַּסְפֵּךְkas/PEKHyour-silverהָיָהha/YAhas-becomeלְסִיגִיםle/si/GIMdrossסׇבְאֵךְsov/EKHyour-wineמָהוּלma/HULmixedבַּמָּיִם׃bam/MA/yimwith-water

    Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water:

23. 23

    שָׂרַיִךְsa/RA/yikhyour-princesסוֹרְרִיםsor/RIMare-rebelliousוְחַבְרֵיve/chav/REand-companions-ofגַּנָּבִיםgan/na/VIMthievesכֻּלּוֹkul/LOeveryoneאֹהֵבo/HEVlovesשֹׁחַדSHO/chada-bribeוְרֹדֵףve/ro/DEFand-follows-afterשַׁלְמֹנִיםshal/mo/NIMrewardsיָתוֹםya/TOMa-fatherless-oneלֹאlonotיִשְׁפֹּטוּyish/PO/tuthey-judgeוְרִיבve/RIVand-the-cause-ofאַלְמָנָהal/ma/NAa-widowלֹא־יָבוֹאlo-ya/VOdoes-not-comeאֲלֵיהֶם׃a/le/HEMto-them

    Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeנְאֻםne/UMsaysהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe-LordיְהֹוָהAdonaithe-LORDצְבָאוֹתTse/va/OTof-HostsאֲבִירA/VIRthe-Mighty-One-ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelהוֹיhoyahאֶנָּחֵםen/na/CHEMI-will-be-easedמִצָּרַיmits/tsa/RAYfrom-my-adversariesוְאִנָּקְמָהve/in/na/ke/MAand-I-will-be-avengedמֵאוֹיְבָי׃me/oy/VAYfrom-my-enemies

    Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:

25. 25

    וְאָשִׁיבָהve/a/SHI/vaand-I-will-turnיָדִיya/DImy-handעָלַיִךְa/LA/yikhupon-youוְאֶצְרֹףve/ets/ROFand-I-will-refineכַּבֹּרkab/BORas-with-lyeסִיגָיִךְsi/GA/yikhyour-drossוְאָסִירָהve/a/SI/raand-I-will-removeכׇּל־בְּדִילָיִךְ׃kol-be/di/LA/yikhall-your-alloy

    And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin:

26. 26

    וְאָשִׁיבָהve/a/SHI/vaand-I-will-restoreשֹׁפְטַיִךְshof/TA/yikhyour-judgesכְּבָרִאשֹׁנָהke/va/ri/sho/NAas-at-the-firstוְיֹעֲצַיִךְve/yo/a/TSA/yikhand-your-counselorsכְּבַתְּחִלָּהke/vat/te/chil/LAas-at-the-beginningאַחֲרֵי־כֵןa/cha/RE-khenafterwardיִקָּרֵאyik/ka/REshall-be-calledלָךְlakhto-youעִירirthe-city-ofהַצֶּדֶקhats/TSE/dekrighteousnessקִרְיָהkir/YAthe-cityנֶאֱמָנָה׃ne/e/ma/NAfaithful

    And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.

27. 27

    צִיּוֹןTsiy/YONZionבְּמִשְׁפָּטbe/mish/PATin-judgmentתִּפָּדֶהtip/pa/DEshall-be-redeemedוְשָׁבֶיהָve/sha/VE/haand-her-returning-onesבִּצְדָקָה׃bits/da/KAin-righteousness

    Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.

28. 28

    וְשֶׁבֶרve/SHE/verand-the-destruction-ofפֹּשְׁעִיםposh/IMthe-transgressorsוְחַטָּאִיםve/chat/ta/IMand-sinnersיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherוְעֹזְבֵיve/oz/VEand-they-that-forsakeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe-LORDיִכְלוּ׃yikh/LUshall-be-consumed

    And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed.

29. 29

    כִּיkiforיֵבֹשׁוּye/VO/shuthey-shall-be-ashamedמֵאֵילִיםme/e/LIMof-the-oaksאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichחֲמַדְתֶּםcha/mad/TEMyou-have-desiredוְתַחְפְּרוּve/tach/pe/RUand-you-shall-be-confoundedמֵהַגַּנּוֹתme/hag/gan/NOTof-the-gardensאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבְּחַרְתֶּם׃be/char/TEMyou-have-chosen

    For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen.

30. 30

    כִּיkiforתִהְיוּtih/YUyou-shall-beכְּאֵלָהke/e/LAas-an-oakנֹבֶלֶתno/VE/letfadingעָלֶהָa/LE/haits-leafוּכְגַנָּהu/khe/gan/NAand-as-a-gardenאֲשֶׁר־מַיִםa/SHER-MA/yimthat-waterאֵיןenthere-is-noלָהּ׃lato-her

    For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water.

31. 31

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand-shall-beהֶחָסֹןhe/cha/SONthe-strongלִנְעֹרֶתlin/O/retas-towוּפֹעֲלוֹu/fo/a/LOand-his-workלְנִיצוֹץle/ni/TSOTSas-a-sparkוּבָעֲרוּu/va/a/RUand-they-shall-burnשְׁנֵיהֶםshe/ne/HEMboth-of-themיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherוְאֵיןve/ENand-there-is-noמְכַבֶּה׃me/khab/BEquencher

    And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them.
