Hosea 8 הוֹשֵׁעַ פרק ח׳

   אֶל־חִכְּךָel-chik/ke/KHAto your mouthשֹׁפָרsho/FARthe shofarכַּנֶּשֶׁרkan/NE/sheras an eagleעַל־בֵּיתal-betagainst the house ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDיַעַןYA/anbecauseעָבְרוּa/ve/RUthey have transgressedבְרִיתִיve/ri/TImy covenantוְעַל־תּוֹרָתִיve/AL-to/ra/TIand against my lawפָּשָׁעוּ׃pa/SHA/utrespassed

   Set the trumpet to thy mouth. He shall come as an eagle against the house of the LORD, because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law.

   לִיlito meיִזְעָקוּyiz/A/kushall cryאֱלֹהַיe/lo/HAYmy Godיְדַעֲנוּךָye/da/a/NU/khawe know youיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

   Israel shall cry unto me, My God, we know thee.

   זָנַחza/NACHhas cast offיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelטוֹבtovthe goodאוֹיֵבo/YEVthe enemyיִרְדְּפוֹ׃yir/DE/foshall pursue him

   Israel hath cast off the thing that is good: the enemy shall pursue him.

   הֵםhemtheyהִמְלִיכוּhim/li/KHUhave set up kingsוְלֹאve/LObut notמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/niby meהֵשִׂירוּhe/SI/ruthey have made princesוְלֹאve/LObut notיָדָעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knew itכַּסְפָּםkas/PAMtheir silverוּזְהָבָםu/ze/ha/VAMand their goldעָשׂוּa/SUhave they madeלָהֶםla/HEMfor themעֲצַבִּיםa/tsab/BIMidolsלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיִכָּרֵת׃yik/ka/RETthey may be cut off

   They have set up kings, but not by me: they have made princes, and I knew it not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.

   זָנַחza/NACHhas cast offעֶגְלֵךְeg/LEKHyour calfשֹׁמְרוֹןShom/RONO Samariaחָרָהcha/RAis kindledאַפִּיap/PImy angerבָּםbamagainst themעַד־מָתַיad-ma/TAYhow longלֹאlonotיוּכְלוּyukh/LUwill they be ableנִקָּיֹן׃nik/ka/YONto bear innocence

   Thy calf, O Samaria, hath cast thee off; mine anger is kindled against them: how long will it be ere they attain to innocency?

   כִּיkiforמִיִּשְׂרָאֵלmiy/Yis/ra/ELfrom Israelוְהוּאve/HUwas it alsoחָרָשׁcha/RASHthe workmanעָשָׂהוּa/SA/humade itוְלֹאve/LOand notאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodהוּאhuit isכִּי־שְׁבָבִיםki-she/va/VIMbut broken in piecesיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beעֵגֶלE/gelthe calf ofשֹׁמְרוֹן׃Shom/RONSamaria

   For from Israel was it also: the workman made it; therefore it is not God: but the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.

   כִּיkiforרוּחַRU/achthe windיִזְרָעוּyiz/RA/uthey sowוְסוּפָתָהve/su/FA/taand the whirlwindיִקְצֹרוּyik/TSO/ruthey shall reapקָמָהKA/maa stalkאֵין־לוֹen-loit has noצֶמַחTSE/machbudבְּלִיbe/LIit shall notיַעֲשֶׂה־קֶּמַחya/a/SE-KE/machyield mealאוּלַיu/LAYif so beיַעֲשֶׂהya/a/SEit yieldזָרִיםza/RIMstrangersיִבְלָעֻהוּ׃yiv/la/U/hushall swallow it up

   For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk: the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up.

   נִבְלַעniv/LAis swallowed upיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelעַתָּהat/TAnowהָיוּha/YUthey areבַגּוֹיִםvag/go/YIMamong the nationsכִּכְלִיkikh/LIas a vesselאֵין־חֵפֶץen-CHE/fetswherein is no pleasureבּוֹ׃boin it

   Israel is swallowed up: now shall they be among the Gentiles as a vessel wherein is no pleasure.

9. 9

   כִּי־הֵמָּהki-HEM/mafor theyעָלוּa/LUare gone upאַשּׁוּרAsh/SHURto AssyriaפֶּרֶאPE/rea wild assבּוֹדֵדbo/DEDaloneלוֹloby himselfאֶפְרַיִםEf/RA/yimEphraimהִתְנוּhit/NUhas hiredאֲהָבִים׃a/ha/VIMlovers

   For they are gone up to Assyria, a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers.

10. 10

    גַּםgamyeaכִּי־יִתְנוּki-yit/NUthough they hireבַגּוֹיִםvag/go/YIMamong the nationsעַתָּהat/TAnowאֲקַבְּצֵםa/kab/be/TSEMwill I gather themוַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand they shall sorrowמְּעָטme/ATa littleמִמַּשָּׂאmim/mas/SAfor the burden ofמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofשָׂרִים׃sa/RIMprinces

    Yea, though they have hired among the nations, now will I gather them, and they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the king of princes.

11. 11

    כִּי־הִרְבָּהki-hir/BAbecause has multipliedאֶפְרַיִםEf/RA/yimEphraimמִזְבְּחוֹתmiz/be/CHOTaltarsלַחֲטֹאla/cha/TOto sinהָיוּ־לוֹha/YU-lothey have been to himמִזְבְּחוֹתmiz/be/CHOTaltarsלַחֲטֹא׃la/cha/TOto sin

    Because Ephraim hath made many altars to sin, altars shall be unto him to sin.

12. 12

    [אֶכְתׇּב־]לוֹekh/TOV-loI have written to him(רבו)ravav[רֻבֵּי]rub/BEthe great things ofתּוֹרָתִיto/ra/TImy lawכְּמוֹ־זָרke/MO-zaras a strange thingנֶחְשָׁבוּ׃nech/SHA/vuthey were counted

    I have written to him the great things of my law, but they were counted as a strange thing.

13. 13

    זִבְחֵיziv/CHEthe sacrifices ofהַבְהָבַיhav/ha/VAYmy offeringsיִזְבְּחוּyiz/be/CHUthey sacrificeבָשָׂרva/SARfleshוַיֹּאכֵלוּvay/yo/KHE/luand eat itיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלֹאlonotרָצָםra/TSAMaccepts themעַתָּהat/TAnowיִזְכֹּרyiz/KORwill He rememberעֲוֺנָםa/vo/NAMtheir iniquityוְיִפְקֹדve/yif/KODand visitחַטֹּאותָםchat/to/TAMtheir sinsהֵמָּהHEM/matheyמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptיָשׁוּבוּ׃ya/SHU/vuthey shall return

    They sacrifice flesh for the sacrifices of mine offerings, and eat it; but the LORD accepteth them not; now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt.

14. 14

    וַיִּשְׁכַּחvay/yish/KACHfor has forgottenיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֶת־עֹשֵׂהוּet-O/SE/huhis Makerוַיִּבֶןvay/YI/venand buildsהֵיכָלוֹתhe/kha/LOTtemplesוִיהוּדָהVi/hu/DAand Judahהִרְבָּהhir/BAhas multipliedעָרִיםa/RIMcitiesבְּצֻרוֹתbe/tsu/ROTfortifiedוְשִׁלַּחְתִּי־אֵשׁve/shil/lach/TI-eshbut I will send a fireבְּעָרָיוbe/a/RAYVupon his citiesוְאׇכְלָהve/okh/LAand shall devourאַרְמְנֹתֶיהָ׃ar/me/no/TE/haher palaces

    For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and buildeth temples; and Judah hath multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the palaces thereof.
