Hosea 14 הוֹשֵׁעַ פרק י״ד

1. 1

   תֶּאְשַׁםshall become desolateשֹׁמְרוֹןSamariaכִּיforמָרְתָהit has rebelledבֵּאלֹהֶיהָagainst its Godבַּחֶרֶבwith the swordיִפֹּלוּthey must fallעֹלְלֵיהֶםtheir childrenיְרֻטָּשׁוּthey will be dashed in piecesוְהָרִיּוֹתָיוand its pregnant womenיְבֻקָּעוּ׃they will be ripped open

   Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.

   שׁוּבָהreturnיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelעַדuntilיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָyour Godכִּיforכָשַׁלְתָּyou have stumbledבַּעֲוֺנֶךָ׃on your iniquity

   O Israel, return unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.

   קְחוּtakeעִמָּכֶםwith youדְּבָרִיםwordsוְשׁוּבוּand returnאֶל־יְהֹוָהto the LORDאִמְרוּsayאֵלָיוto himכׇּל־תִּשָּׂאtake away allעָוֺןiniquityוְקַח־טוֹבand receive graciouslyוּנְשַׁלְּמָהso let us payפָרִיםthe calves ofשְׂפָתֵינוּ׃our lips

   Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.

4. 4

   אַשּׁוּרAssyriaלֹאnotיוֹשִׁיעֵנוּhe will deliver usעַל־סוּסupon a horseלֹאnotנִרְכָּבwe will rideוְלֹא־נֹאמַרand we will not sayעוֹדany moreאֱלֹהֵינוּour Godלְמַעֲשֵׂהunto the work ofיָדֵינוּour handsאֲשֶׁר־בְּךָwhich in Youיְרֻחַםhe is shown compassionיָתוֹם׃a fatherless one

   Asshur shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, Ye are our gods: for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.

   אֶרְפָּאI will healמְשׁוּבָתָםtheir apostasyאֹהֲבֵםI will love themנְדָבָהfreelyכִּיforשָׁבreturnedאַפִּיMy angerמִמֶּנּוּ׃from him

   I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him.

   אֶהְיֶהI may beכַטַּלlike the dewלְיִשְׂרָאֵלto Israelיִפְרַחhe will flourishכַּשּׁוֹשַׁנָּהlike the lilyוְיַךְand cast forthשׇׁרָשָׁיוits rootsכַּלְּבָנוֹן׃like Lebanon

   I will be as the dew unto Israel: he shall grow as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon.

7. 7

   יֵלְכוּshall spreadיֹנְקוֹתָיוits young shootsוִיהִיand may beכַזַּיִתlike the olive treeהוֹדוֹhis beautyוְרֵיחַand the aroma ofלוֹto himכַּלְּבָנוֹן׃like Lebanon

   His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive tree, and his smell as Lebanon.

8. 8

   יָשֻׁבוּshall returnיֹשְׁבֵיinhabitants ofבְצִלּוֹin its shadeיְחַיּוּthey will let liveדָגָןgrainוְיִפְרְחוּso they may blossomכַגָּפֶןlike the vineזִכְרוֹthe scent thereofכְּיֵיןlike the wine ofלְבָנוֹן׃Lebanon

   They that dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall revive as the corn, and grow as the vine: the scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon.

   אֶפְרַיִםEphraimמַה־לִּיwhat to meעוֹדany moreלָעֲצַבִּיםto idolsאֲנִיIעָנִיתִיI have heard himוַאֲשׁוּרֶנּוּand I will watch over itאֲנִיIכִּבְרוֹשׁam like a cypress treeרַעֲנָןluxuriantמִמֶּנִּיfrom meפֶּרְיְךָyour fruitנִמְצָא׃was found

   Ephraim shall say, What have I to do any more with idols? I have heard him, and observed him: I am like a green fir tree. From me is thy fruit found.

    מִיwhoחָכָםwiseוְיָבֵןand he may understandאֵלֶּהtheseנָבוֹןdiscerningוְיֵדָעֵםand let him know themכִּי־יְשָׁרִיםbecause justדַּרְכֵיthe ways ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDוְצַדִּקִיםand righteousיֵלְכוּshall walkבָםin themוּפֹשְׁעִיםand transgressorsיִכָּשְׁלוּthey might stumbleבָם׃in them

    Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein.
