   וַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLand fellיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEupon the face ofאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherוַיֵּבְךְּvay/YEVKand weptעָלָיוa/LAYVupon himוַיִּשַּׁק־לוֹ׃vay/yish/SHAK-loand kissed him

   And Joseph fell upon his father's face, and wept upon him, and kissed him.

   וַיְצַוvay/TSAVand commandedיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephאֶת־עֲבָדָיוet-a/va/DAYVhis servantsאֶת־הָרֹפְאִיםet-ha/rof/IMthe physiciansלַחֲנֹטla/cha/NOTto embalmאֶת־אָבִיוet-a/VIVhis fatherוַיַּחַנְטוּvay/ya/chan/TUand they embalmedהָרֹפְאִיםha/rof/IMthe physiciansאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃et-Yis/ra/ELIsrael

   And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father: and the physicians embalmed Israel.

   וַיִּמְלְאוּ־לוֹvay/yim/le/U-loand were fulfilled for himאַרְבָּעִיםar/ba/IMfortyיוֹםyomdaysכִּיkibecauseכֵּןkensoיִמְלְאוּyim/le/Uare fulfilledיְמֵיye/MEthe days ofהַחֲנֻטִיםha/cha/nu/TIMthose who are embalmedוַיִּבְכּוּvay/yiv/KUand weptאֹתוֹo/TOfor himמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimthe Egyptiansשִׁבְעִיםshiv/IMseventyיוֹם׃yomdays

   And forty days were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of those which are embalmed: and the Egyptians mourned for him threescore and ten days.

   And when the days of his mourning were past, Joseph spake unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,

   אָבִיa/VImy fatherהִשְׁבִּיעַנִיhish/bi/A/nimade me swearלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIמֵתmetdieבְּקִבְרִיbe/kiv/RIin my graveאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichכָּרִיתִיka/RI/tiI have dugלִיlifor meבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofכְּנַעַןKe/NA/anCanaanשָׁמָּהSHAM/mathereתִּקְבְּרֵנִיtik/be/RE/nishall you bury meוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאֶעֱלֶה־נָּאe/e/LE-nalet me go up I prayוְאֶקְבְּרָהve/ek/be/RAand buryאֶת־אָבִיet-a/VImy fatherוְאָשׁוּבָה׃ve/a/SHU/vaand I will come again

   My father made me swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have digged for me in the land of Canaan, there shalt thou bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray thee, and bury my father, and I will come again.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidפַּרְעֹהPar/OPharaohעֲלֵהa/LEgo upוּקְבֹרu/ke/VORand buryאֶת־אָבִיךָet-a/VI/khayour fatherכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasהִשְׁבִּיעֶךָ׃hish/bi/E/khahe made you swear

   And Pharaoh said, Go up, and bury thy father, according as he made thee swear.

   וַיַּעַלvay/YA/aland went upיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephלִקְבֹּרlik/BORto buryאֶת־אָבִיוet-a/VIVhis fatherוַיַּעֲלוּvay/ya/a/LUand went upאִתּוֹit/TOwith himכׇּל־עַבְדֵיkol-av/DEall the servants ofפַרְעֹהFar/OPharaohזִקְנֵיzik/NEthe elders ofבֵיתוֹve/TOhis houseוְכֹלve/KHOLand allזִקְנֵיzik/NEthe elders ofאֶרֶץ־מִצְרָיִם׃E/rets-Mits/RA/yimthe land of Egypt

   And Joseph went up to bury his father: and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt,

   וְכֹלve/KHOLand allבֵּיתbetthe house ofיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephוְאֶחָיוve/e/CHAYVand his brethrenוּבֵיתu/VETand the house ofאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherרַקrakonlyטַפָּםtap/PAMtheir little onesוְצֹאנָםve/tso/NAMand their flocksוּבְקָרָםu/ve/ka/RAMand their herdsעָזְבוּa/ze/VUthey leftבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofגֹּשֶׁן׃GO/shenGoshen

   And all the house of Joseph, and his brethren, and his father's house: only their little ones, and their flocks, and their herds, they left in the land of Goshen.

   וַיַּעַלvay/YA/aland there went upעִמּוֹim/MOwith himגַּם־רֶכֶבgam-RE/khevboth chariotsגַּם־פָּרָשִׁיםgam-pa/ra/SHIMand horsemenוַיְהִיvay/HIand it wasהַמַּחֲנֶהham/ma/cha/NEa companyכָּבֵדka/VEDgreatמְאֹד׃me/ODexceedingly

   And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen: and it was a very great company.

    וַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameעַד־גֹּרֶןad-GO/rento the threshing floor ofהָאָטָדHa/a/TADAtadאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבְּעֵבֶרbe/E/veron the other side ofהַיַּרְדֵּןhay/Yar/DENthe Jordanוַיִּסְפְּדוּ־שָׁםvay/yis/pe/DU-shamand there they lamentedמִסְפֵּדmis/PEDa lamentationגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatוְכָבֵדve/kha/VEDand soreמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyוַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand he madeלְאָבִיוle/a/VIVfor his fatherאֵבֶלE/vela mourningשִׁבְעַתshiv/ATsevenיָמִים׃ya/MIMdays

    And they came to the threshingfloor of Atad, which is beyond Jordan, and there they mourned with a great and very sore lamentation: and he made a mourning for his father seven days.

    וַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawיוֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVthe inhabitants ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landהַכְּנַעֲנִיhak/Ke/na/a/NIthe Canaaniteאֶת־הָאֵבֶלet-ha/E/velthe mourningבְּגֹרֶןbe/GO/renat the threshing floor ofהָאָטָדHa/a/TADAtadוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵבֶל־כָּבֵדE/vel-ka/VEDa grievous mourningזֶהzeis thisלְמִצְרָיִםle/Mits/RA/yimto the Egyptiansעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeקָרָאka/RAwas calledשְׁמָהּshe/MAits nameאָבֵלA/VELAbel-מִצְרַיִםmits/RA/yimmizraimאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבְּעֵבֶרbe/E/veron the other side ofהַיַּרְדֵּן׃hay/Yar/DENthe Jordan

    And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians: wherefore the name of it was called Abel-mizraim, which is beyond Jordan.

    וַיַּעֲשׂוּvay/ya/a/SUand didבָנָיוva/NAYVhis sonsלוֹloto himכֵּןkensoכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasצִוָּם׃tsiv/VAMhe commanded them

    And his sons did unto him according as he commanded them:

    וַיִּשְׂאוּvay/yis/Uand carriedאֹתוֹo/TOhimבָנָיוva/NAYVhis sonsאַרְצָהAR/tsainto the land ofכְּנַעַןKe/NA/anCanaanוַיִּקְבְּרוּvay/yik/be/RUand buriedאֹתוֹo/TOhimבִּמְעָרַתbim/a/RATin the cave ofשְׂדֵהse/DEthe field ofהַמַּכְפֵּלָהHam/makh/pe/LAMachpelahאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichקָנָהka/NAboughtאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamאֶת־הַשָּׂדֶהet-has/sa/DEthe fieldלַאֲחֻזַּת־קֶבֶרla/a/chuz/ZAT-KE/verfor a possession of a buryingplaceמֵאֵתme/ETfromעֶפְרֹןEf/RONEphronהַחִתִּיha/Chit/TIthe Hittiteעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEbeforeמַמְרֵא׃Mam/REMamre

    For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a buryingplace of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre.

    וַיָּשׇׁבvay/YA/shovand returnedיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephמִצְרַיְמָהMits/RAY/mato Egyptהוּאhuheוְאֶחָיוve/e/CHAYVand his brethrenוְכׇל־הָעֹלִיםve/KHOL-ha/o/LIMand all who went upאִתּוֹit/TOwith himלִקְבֹּרlik/BORto buryאֶת־אָבִיוet-a/VIVhis fatherאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterקׇבְרוֹkov/ROhe had buriedאֶת־אָבִיו׃et-a/VIVhis father

    And Joseph returned into Egypt, he, and his brethren, and all that went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.

15. 15

    וַיִּרְאוּvay/yir/Uand they sawאֲחֵי־יוֹסֵףA/CHE-yo/SEFJoseph's brethrenכִּי־מֵתki-metthat was deadאֲבִיהֶםa/vi/HEMtheir fatherוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidלוּluperhapsיִשְׂטְמֵנוּyis/te/ME/nuwill hate usיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephוְהָשֵׁבve/ha/SHEVand requiteיָשִׁיבya/SHIVwill requiteלָנוּLA/nuusאֵת־כׇּל־הָרָעָהet-kol-ha/ra/Aall the evilאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichגָּמַלְנוּga/MAL/nuwe did toאֹתוֹ׃o/TOhim

    And when Joseph's brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him.

16. 16

    וַיְצַוּוּvay/tsav/VUand they sent a messengerאֶל־יוֹסֵףel-Yo/SEFto Josephלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאָבִיךָa/VI/khayour fatherצִוָּהtsiv/VAdid commandלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeמוֹתוֹmo/TOhis deathלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Thy father did command before he died, saying,

17. 17

    כֹּה־תֹאמְרוּko-to/me/RUso shall you sayלְיוֹסֵףle/Yo/SEFto Josephאָנָּאan/NAI beseech youשָׂאsaforgiveנָאnaI prayפֶּשַׁעPE/shathe transgression ofאַחֶיךָa/CHE/khayour brethrenוְחַטָּאתָםve/chat/ta/TAMand their sinכִּי־רָעָהki-ra/Afor evilגְמָלוּךָge/ma/LU/khathey did to youוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowשָׂאsaforgiveנָאnaI prayלְפֶשַׁעle/FE/shathe transgression ofעַבְדֵיav/DEthe servants ofאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofאָבִיךָa/VI/khayour fatherוַיֵּבְךְּvay/YEVKand he weptיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephבְּדַבְּרָםbe/dab/be/RAMwhen they spokeאֵלָיו׃e/LAYVto him

    So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him.

18. 18

    וַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand wentגַּם־אֶחָיוgam-e/CHAYValso his brethrenוַיִּפְּלוּvay/yip/pe/LUand they fellלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore himוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidהִנֶּנּוּhin/NEN/nubehold we areלְךָle/KHAyourלַעֲבָדִים׃la/a/va/DIMservants

    And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants.

19. 19

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵהֶםa/le/HEMto themיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephאַל־תִּירָאוּal-ti/RA/ufear notכִּיkiforהֲתַחַתha/TA/chatin the stead ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאָנִי׃A/niam I

    And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?

20. 20

    וְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMbut as for youחֲשַׁבְתֶּםcha/shav/TEMyou thoughtעָלַיa/LAYagainst meרָעָהra/Aevilאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodחֲשָׁבָהּcha/sha/VAmeant itלְטֹבָהle/to/VAfor goodלְמַעַןle/MA/antoעֲשֹׂהa/SObring to passכַּיּוֹםkay/YOMas at the dayהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisלְהַחֲיֹתle/ha/cha/YOTto save aliveעַם־רָב׃am-ravmuch people

    But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

21. 21

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאַל־תִּירָאוּal-ti/RA/ufear notאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIאֲכַלְכֵּלa/khal/KELwill nourishאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouוְאֶת־טַפְּכֶםve/ET-tap/pe/KHEMand your little onesוַיְנַחֵםvay/na/CHEMand he comfortedאוֹתָםo/TAMthemוַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand spokeעַל־לִבָּם׃al-lib/BAMto their heart

    Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.

22. 22

    וַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand dweltיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephבְּמִצְרַיִםbe/Mits/RA/yimin Egyptהוּאhuheוּבֵיתu/VETand the house ofאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherוַיְחִיvay/CHIand livedיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephמֵאָהme/Aa hundredוָעֶשֶׂרva/E/serand tenשָׁנִים׃sha/NIMyears

    And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father's house: and Joseph lived an hundred and ten years.

23. 23

    וַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephלְאֶפְרַיִםLe/ef/RA/yimEphraim'sבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofשִׁלֵּשִׁיםshil/le/SHIMthe third generationגַּםgamalsoבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofמָכִירMa/KHIRMachirבֶּן־מְנַשֶּׁהben-Me/nash/SHEthe son of Manassehיֻלְּדוּyul/le/DUwere bornעַל־בִּרְכֵּיal-bir/KEupon the knees ofיוֹסֵף׃Yo/SEFJoseph

    And Joseph saw Ephraim's children of the third generation: the children also of Machir the son of Manasseh were brought up upon Joseph's knees.

24. 24

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephאֶל־אֶחָיוel-e/CHAYVto his brethrenאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIמֵתmetdieוֵאלֹהִיםve/lo/HIMand Godפָּקֹדpa/KODvisitיִפְקֹדyif/KODwill visitאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouוְהֶעֱלָהve/he/e/LAand will bring upאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouמִן־הָאָרֶץmin-ha/A/retsout of the landהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאֶל־הָאָרֶץel-ha/A/retsto the landאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנִשְׁבַּעnish/BAHe sworeלְאַבְרָהָםle/Av/ra/HAMto Abrahamלְיִצְחָקle/Yits/CHAKto Isaacוּלְיַעֲקֹב׃u/Le/ya/a/KOVand to Jacob

    And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

25. 25

    וַיַּשְׁבַּעvay/yash/BAand took an oath ofיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephאֶת־בְּנֵיet-be/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingפָּקֹדpa/KODvisitיִפְקֹדyif/KODwill visitאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouוְהַעֲלִתֶםve/ha/a/li/TEMand you shall carry upאֶת־עַצְמֹתַיet-ats/mo/TAYmy bonesמִזֶּה׃miz/ZEfrom here

    And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence.

26. 26

    וַיָּמׇתvay/YA/motand diedיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephבֶּן־מֵאָהben-me/Aa son of a hundredוָעֶשֶׂרva/E/serand tenשָׁנִיםsha/NIMyearsוַיַּחַנְטוּvay/ya/chan/TUand they embalmedאֹתוֹo/TOhimוַיִּישֶׂםvay/YI/semand he was putבָּאָרוֹןba/a/RONin a coffinבְּמִצְרָיִם׃be/Mits/RA/yimin Egypt

    So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.
