   וְאֵלֶּהve/EL/leand theseשְׁמוֹתshe/MOTthe names ofבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelהַבָּאִיםhab/ba/IMwho cameמִצְרָיְמָהMits/RAY/mato Egyptאֵת־יַעֲקֹבet-Ya/a/KOVwith Jacobאִישׁishevery manוּבֵיתוֹu/ve/TOand his houseבָּאוּ׃BA/ucame

   Now these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt; every man and his household came with Jacob.

   רְאוּבֵןRe/u/VENReubenשִׁמְעוֹןShim/ONSimeonלֵוִיLe/VILeviוִיהוּדָה׃Vi/hu/DAand Judah

   Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah,

   יִשָּׂשכָרYis/sash/KHARIssacharזְבוּלֻןZe/vu/LUNZebulunוּבִנְיָמִן׃u/Vin/ya/MINand Benjamin

   Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin,

   דָּןDanDanוְנַפְתָּלִיve/Naf/ta/LIand NaphtaliגָּדGadGadוְאָשֵׁר׃ve/A/SHERand Asher

   Dan, and Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand wereכׇּל־נֶפֶשׁkol-NE/feshall the soulsיֹצְאֵיyots/Ethat came out ofיֶרֶךְ־יַעֲקֹבYE/rekh-Ya/a/KOVthe loins of Jacobשִׁבְעִיםshiv/IMseventyנָפֶשׁNA/feshsoulsוְיוֹסֵףve/Yo/SEFand Josephהָיָהha/YAwasבְמִצְרָיִם׃ve/Mits/RA/yimin Egypt

   And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt already.

   וַיָּמׇתvay/YA/motand diedיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephוְכׇל־אֶחָיוve/KHOL-e/CHAYVand all his brethrenוְכֹלve/KHOLand allהַדּוֹרhad/DORthe generationהַהוּא׃ha/HUthat

   And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation.

   וּבְנֵיu/ve/NEand the children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelפָּרוּpa/RUwere fruitfulוַיִּשְׁרְצוּvay/yish/re/TSUand they swarmedוַיִּרְבּוּvay/yir/BUand multipliedוַיַּעַצְמוּvay/ya/ats/MUand grew mightyבִּמְאֹדbim/ODwith exceedingמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyוַתִּמָּלֵאvat/tim/ma/LEand was filledהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landאֹתָם׃o/TAMwith them

   And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.

   וַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komnow there aroseמֶלֶךְ־חָדָשׁME/lekh-cha/DASHa new kingעַל־מִצְרָיִםal-Mits/RA/yimover Egyptאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹא־יָדַעlo-ya/DAknew notאֶת־יוֹסֵף׃et-Yo/SEFJoseph

   Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶל־עַמּוֹel-am/MOto his peopleהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdעַםamthe people ofבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelרַבravare moreוְעָצוּםve/a/TSUMand mightierמִמֶּנּוּ׃mim/MEN/nuthan we

   And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:

10. 10

    הָבָהHA/vacomeנִתְחַכְּמָהnit/chak/ke/MAlet us deal wiselyלוֹlowith themפֶּן־יִרְבֶּהpen-yir/BElest they multiplyוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it come to passכִּי־תִקְרֶאנָהki-tik/RE/nawhen there befallsמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAany warוְנוֹסַףve/no/SAFand they joinגַּם־הוּאgam-huthey alsoעַל־שֹׂנְאֵינוּal-son/E/nuupon those who hate usוְנִלְחַם־בָּנוּve/nil/CHAM-BA/nuand fight against usוְעָלָהve/a/LAand so get them upמִן־הָאָרֶץ׃min-ha/A/retsout of the land

    Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.

    וַיָּשִׂימוּvay/ya/SI/mutherefore they setעָלָיוa/LAYVover themשָׂרֵיsa/REmasters ofמִסִּיםmis/SIMforced laborלְמַעַןle/MA/anin order thatעַנֹּתוֹan/no/TOafflict themבְּסִבְלֹתָםbe/siv/lo/TAMwith their burdensוַיִּבֶןvay/YI/venand they builtעָרֵיa/REcities ofמִסְכְּנוֹתmis/ke/NOTstoreלְפַרְעֹהle/Far/Ofor Pharaohאֶת־פִּתֹםet-Pi/TOMPithomוְאֶת־רַעַמְסֵס׃ve/ET-ra/am/SESand Rameses

    Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.

12. 12

    וְכַאֲשֶׁרve/kha/a/SHERbut the moreיְעַנּוּye/an/NUthey afflictedאֹתוֹo/TOthemכֵּןkensoיִרְבֶּהyir/BEthey multipliedוְכֵןve/KHENand soיִפְרֹץyif/ROTSthey spread abroadוַיָּקֻצוּvay/ya/KU/tsuand they dreadedמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.

13. 13

    וַיַּעֲבִדוּvay/ya/a/VI/duand made to serveמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimthe Egyptiansאֶת־בְּנֵיet-be/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelבְּפָרֶךְ׃be/FA/rekhwith rigor

    And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour:

14. 14

    וַיְמָרְרוּvay/ma/re/RUand they made bitterאֶת־חַיֵּיהֶםet-chay/ye/HEMtheir livesבַּעֲבֹדָהba/a/vo/DAwith bondageקָשָׁהka/SHAhardבְּחֹמֶרbe/CHO/merin mortarוּבִלְבֵנִיםu/vil/ve/NIMand in bricksוּבְכׇל־עֲבֹדָהu/ve/KHOL-a/vo/DAand in all manner of serviceבַּשָּׂדֶהbas/sa/DEin the fieldאֵת־כׇּל־עֲבֹדָתָםet-kol-a/vo/da/TAMall their serviceאֲשֶׁר־עָבְדוּa/SHER-a/ve/DUwherein they made to serveבָהֶםva/HEMthemבְּפָרֶךְ׃be/FA/rekhwith rigor

    And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptלַמְיַלְּדֹתlam/yal/le/DOTto the midwivesהָעִבְרִיֹּתha/Iv/riy/YOTthe Hebrew womenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERof whomשֵׁםshemthe name ofהָאַחַתha/a/CHATthe oneשִׁפְרָהShif/RAShiphrahוְשֵׁםve/SHEMand the name ofהַשֵּׁנִיתhash/she/NITthe secondפּוּעָה׃Pu/APuah

    And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah:

16. 16

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidבְּיַלֶּדְכֶןbe/yal/led/KHENwhen you deliverאֶת־הָעִבְרִיּוֹתet-Ha/iv/riy/YOTthe Hebrew womenוּרְאִיתֶןu/re/i/TENand see themעַל־הָאׇבְנָיִםal-ha/ov/NA/yimupon the birthstoolאִם־בֵּןim-benif a sonהוּאhuit isוַהֲמִתֶּןva/ha/mit/TENthen you shall killאֹתוֹo/TOhimוְאִם־בַּתve/IM-batand if a daughterהִואhivit isוָחָיָה׃va/CHA/yathen she shall live

    And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.

    וַתִּירֶאןָvat/ti/RE/nabut fearedהַמְיַלְּדֹתham/yal/le/DOTthe midwivesאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִיםet-ha/e/lo/HIMGodוְלֹאve/LOand notעָשׂוּa/SUdidכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasדִּבֶּרdib/BERcommandedאֲלֵיהֶןa/le/HENthemמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofמִצְרָיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptוַתְּחַיֶּיןָvat/te/chay/YE/nabut saved aliveאֶת־הַיְלָדִים׃et-hay/la/DIMthe children

    But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.

18. 18

    וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledמֶלֶךְ־מִצְרַיִםME/lekh-Mits/RA/yimthe king of Egyptלַמְיַלְּדֹתlam/yal/le/DOTfor the midwivesוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָהֶןla/HENto themמַדּוּעַmad/DU/awhyעֲשִׂיתֶןa/si/TENhave you doneהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe thingהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוַתְּחַיֶּיןָvat/te/chay/YE/naand have saved aliveאֶת־הַיְלָדִים׃et-hay/la/DIMthe children

    And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?

19. 19

    וַתֹּאמַרְןָvat/to/MAR/naand they saidהַמְיַלְּדֹתham/yal/le/DOTthe midwivesאֶל־פַּרְעֹהel-Par/Oto Pharaohכִּיkibecauseלֹאlonotכַנָּשִׁיםkhan/na/SHIMas the womenהַמִּצְרִיֹּתHam/mits/riy/YOTEgyptianהָעִבְרִיֹּתha/Iv/riy/YOTare the Hebrew womenכִּי־חָיוֹתki-cha/YOTfor livelyהֵנָּהHEN/nathey areבְּטֶרֶםbe/TE/rembeforeתָּבוֹאta/VOcome inאֲלֵהֶןa/le/HENto themהַמְיַלֶּדֶתham/yal/LE/detthe midwifeוְיָלָדוּ׃ve/ya/LA/duand they have borne

    And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them.

20. 20

    וַיֵּיטֶבvay/YE/tevtherefore dealt wellאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodלַמְיַלְּדֹתlam/yal/le/DOTto the midwivesוַיִּרֶבvay/YI/revand multipliedהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוַיַּעַצְמוּvay/ya/ats/MUand grew mightyמְאֹד׃me/ODexceedingly

    Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.

21. 21

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכִּי־יָרְאוּki-ya/re/Ubecause fearedהַמְיַלְּדֹתham/yal/le/DOTthe midwivesאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִיםet-ha/e/lo/HIMGodוַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asthat He madeלָהֶםla/HEMthemבָּתִּים׃bat/TIMhouses

    And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.

22. 22

    וַיְצַוvay/TSAVand commandedפַּרְעֹהPar/OPharaohלְכׇל־עַמּוֹle/KHOL-am/MOall his peopleלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingכׇּל־הַבֵּןkol-hab/BENevery sonהַיִּלּוֹדhay/yil/LODthat is bornהַיְאֹרָהHay/O/rainto the Nileתַּשְׁלִיכֻהוּtash/li/KHU/huyou shall cast himוְכׇל־הַבַּתve/KHOL-hab/BATand every daughterתְּחַיּוּן׃te/chay/YUNyou shall save alive

    And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.
