   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterהַדְּבָרִיםhad/de/va/RIMthe thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand one saidלְיוֹסֵףle/Yo/SEFto Josephהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאָבִיךָa/VI/khayour fatherחֹלֶהcho/LEis sickוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֶת־שְׁנֵיet-she/NEtwoבָנָיוva/NAYVhis sonsעִמּוֹim/MOwith himאֶת־מְנַשֶּׁהet-Me/nash/SHEManassehוְאֶת־אֶפְרָיִם׃ve/ET-ef/RA/yimand Ephraim

   And it came to pass after these things, that one told Joseph, Behold, thy father is sick: and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.

   וַיַּגֵּדvay/yag/GEDand one toldלְיַעֲקֹבLe/ya/a/KOVJacobוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdבִּנְךָbin/KHAyour sonיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephבָּאbacomesאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youוַיִּתְחַזֵּקvay/yit/chaz/ZEKand strengthened himselfיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand satעַל־הַמִּטָּה׃al-ham/mit/TAupon the bed

   And one told Jacob, and said, Behold, thy son Joseph cometh unto thee: and Israel strengthened himself, and sat upon the bed.

3. 3

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobאֶל־יוֹסֵףel-Yo/SEFto JosephאֵלelGodשַׁדַּיShad/DAYAlmightyנִרְאָה־אֵלַיnir/A-e/LAYappeared to meבְּלוּזbe/LUZat Luzבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofכְּנָעַןKe/NA/anCanaanוַיְבָרֶךְvay/VA/rekhand blessedאֹתִי׃o/TIme

   And Jacob said unto Joseph, God Almighty appeared unto me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,

4. 4

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלַיe/LAYto meהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iמַפְרְךָmaf/re/KHAwill make you fruitfulוְהִרְבִּיתִךָve/hir/bi/TI/khaand multiply youוּנְתַתִּיךָu/ne/tat/TI/khaand I will make of youלִקְהַלlik/HALan assembly ofעַמִּיםam/MIMpeoplesוְנָתַתִּיve/na/tat/TIand I will giveאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe landהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisלְזַרְעֲךָle/zar/a/KHAto your seedאַחֲרֶיךָa/cha/RE/khaafter youאֲחֻזַּתa/chuz/ZATfor a possessionעוֹלָם׃o/LAMeverlasting

   And said unto me, Behold, I will make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, and I will make of thee a multitude of people; and will give this land to thy seed after thee for an everlasting possession.

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowשְׁנֵי־בָנֶיךָshe/NE-va/NE/khayour two sonsהַנּוֹלָדִיםhan/no/la/DIMwho were bornלְךָle/KHAto youבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptעַד־בֹּאִיad-bo/Ibefore I cameאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youמִצְרַיְמָהMits/RAY/mato Egyptלִי־הֵםli-hemare mineאֶפְרַיִםEf/RA/yimEphraimוּמְנַשֶּׁהu/Me/nash/SHEand ManassehכִּרְאוּבֵןKir/u/VENas Reubenוְשִׁמְעוֹןve/Shim/ONand Simeonיִהְיוּ־לִי׃yih/YU-lithey shall be mine

   And now thy two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, which were born unto thee in the land of Egypt before I came unto thee into Egypt, are mine; as Reuben and Simeon, they shall be mine.

   וּמוֹלַדְתְּךָu/mo/lad/te/KHAand your issueאֲשֶׁר־הוֹלַדְתָּa/SHER-ho/LAD/tawhich you begetאַחֲרֵיהֶםa/cha/re/HEMafter themלְךָle/KHAyoursיִהְיוּyih/YUshall beעַלalafterשֵׁםshemthe name ofאֲחֵיהֶםa/che/HEMtheir brethrenיִקָּרְאוּyik/ka/re/Ushall they be calledבְּנַחֲלָתָם׃be/na/cha/la/TAMin their inheritance

   And thy issue, which thou begettest after them, shall be thine, and shall be called after the name of their brethren in their inheritance.

   וַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iבְּבֹאִיbe/vo/Iwhen I cameמִפַּדָּןmip/Pad/DANfrom PadanמֵתָהME/tadiedעָלַיa/LAYby meרָחֵלRa/CHELRachelבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofכְּנַעַןKe/NA/anCanaanבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhin the wayבְּעוֹדbe/ODwhen yet there wasכִּבְרַת־אֶרֶץkiv/RAT-E/retsa little wayלָבֹאla/VOto come toאֶפְרָתָהEf/RA/taEphratahוָאֶקְבְּרֶהָva/ek/be/RE/haand I buried herשָּׁםshamthereבְּדֶרֶךְbe/DE/rekhon the way toאֶפְרָתEf/RATEphrathהִואhivthat isבֵּיתBetBeth-לָחֶם׃LA/chemlehem

   And as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan in the way, when yet there was but a little way to come unto Ephrath: and I buried her there in the way of Ephrath; the same is Beth-lehem.

8. 8

   וַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֶת־בְּנֵיet-be/NEthe sons ofיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidמִי־אֵלֶּה׃mi-EL/lewho are these

   And Israel beheld Joseph's sons, and said, Who are these?

9. 9

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephאֶל־אָבִיוel-a/VIVto his fatherבָּנַיba/NAYmy sonsהֵםhemthey areאֲשֶׁר־נָתַן־לִיa/SHER-na/TAN-liwhom has given meאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodבָּזֶהba/ZEhereוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidקָחֶם־נָאKA/chem-nabring them I prayאֵלַיe/LAYto meוַאֲבָרְכֵם׃va/a/va/re/KHEMand I will bless them

   And Joseph said unto his father, They are my sons, whom God hath given me in this place. And he said, Bring them, I pray thee, unto me, and I will bless them.

10. 10

    וְעֵינֵיve/e/NEnow the eyes ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelכָּבְדוּka/ve/DUwere dimמִזֹּקֶןmiz/ZO/kenfor ageלֹאlonotיוּכַלyu/KHALhe couldלִרְאוֹתlir/OTseeוַיַּגֵּשׁvay/yag/GESHand he brought nearאֹתָםo/TAMthemאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himוַיִּשַּׁקvay/yish/SHAKand he kissedלָהֶםla/HEMthemוַיְחַבֵּקvay/chab/BEKand embracedלָהֶם׃la/HEMthem

    Now the eyes of Israel were dim for age, so that he could not see. And he brought them near unto him; and he kissed them, and embraced them.

11. 11

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֶל־יוֹסֵףel-Yo/SEFto Josephרְאֹהre/Oto seeפָנֶיךָfa/NE/khayour faceלֹאlonotפִלָּלְתִּיfil/LAL/tiI had thoughtוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdהֶרְאָהher/Ahas shownאֹתִיo/TImeאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodגַּםgamalsoאֶת־זַרְעֶךָ׃et-zar/E/khayour seed

    And Israel said unto Joseph, I had not thought to see thy face: and, lo, God hath shewed me also thy seed.

12. 12

    וַיּוֹצֵאvay/yo/TSEand brought outיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephאֹתָםo/TAMthemמֵעִםme/IMfrom betweenבִּרְכָּיוbir/KAYVhis kneesוַיִּשְׁתַּחוּvay/yish/TA/chuand bowed himselfלְאַפָּיוle/ap/PAYVwith his faceאָרְצָה׃AR/tsato the earth

    And Joseph brought them out from between his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth.

13. 13

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephאֶת־שְׁנֵיהֶםet-she/ne/HEMthem bothאֶת־אֶפְרַיִםet-Ef/RA/yimEphraimבִּימִינוֹbi/mi/NOin his right handמִשְּׂמֹאלmis/se/MOLtoward the left hand ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוְאֶת־מְנַשֶּׁהve/ET-me/nash/SHEand Manassehבִשְׂמֹאלוֹvis/mo/LOin his left handמִימִיןmi/MINtoward the right hand ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוַיַּגֵּשׁvay/yag/GESHand brought nearאֵלָיו׃e/LAYVto him

    And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel's left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel's right hand, and brought them near unto him.

14. 14

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand stretched outיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֶת־יְמִינוֹet-ye/mi/NOhis right handוַיָּשֶׁתvay/YA/shetand laid itעַל־רֹאשׁal-roshupon the head ofאֶפְרַיִםEf/RA/yimEphraimוְהוּאve/HUwho wasהַצָּעִירhats/tsa/IRthe youngerוְאֶת־שְׂמֹאלוֹve/ET-se/mo/LOand his left handעַל־רֹאשׁal-roshupon the head ofמְנַשֶּׁהMe/nash/SHEManassehשִׂכֵּלsik/KELguiding wittinglyאֶת־יָדָיוet-ya/DAYVhis handsכִּיkiforמְנַשֶּׁהMe/nash/SHEManassehהַבְּכוֹר׃hab/be/KHORwas the firstborn

    And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh's head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the firstborn.

15. 15

    וַיְבָרֶךְvay/VA/rekhand blessedאֶת־יוֹסֵףet-Yo/SEFJosephוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomהִתְהַלְּכוּhit/hal/le/KHUwalkedאֲבֹתַיa/vo/TAYmy fathersלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore HimאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamוְיִצְחָקve/Yits/CHAKand Isaacהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodהָרֹעֶהha/ro/Ewho shepherdedאֹתִיo/TImeמֵעוֹדִיme/o/DIall my life longעַד־הַיּוֹםad-hay/YOMunto the dayהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God which fed me all my life long unto this day,

16. 16

    הַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHthe angelהַגֹּאֵלhag/go/ELwho redeemedאֹתִיo/TImeמִכׇּל־רָעmik/KOL-rafrom all evilיְבָרֵךְye/va/REKHblessאֶת־הַנְּעָרִיםet-han/ne/a/RIMthe ladsוְיִקָּרֵאve/yik/ka/REand let be namedבָהֶםva/HEMon themשְׁמִיshe/MImy nameוְשֵׁםve/SHEMand the name ofאֲבֹתַיa/vo/TAYmy fathersאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamוְיִצְחָקve/Yits/CHAKand Isaacוְיִדְגּוּve/yid/GUand let them growלָרֹבla/ROVinto a multitudeבְּקֶרֶבbe/KE/revin the midst ofהָאָרֶץ׃ha/A/retsthe earth

    The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.

17. 17

    וַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephכִּי־יָשִׁיתki-ya/SHITthat laidאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherיַד־יְמִינוֹyad-ye/mi/NOhis right handעַל־רֹאשׁal-roshupon the head ofאֶפְרַיִםEf/RA/yimEphraimוַיֵּרַעvay/YE/raand it was evilבְּעֵינָיוbe/e/NAYVin his eyesוַיִּתְמֹךְvay/yit/MOKHand he took hold ofיַד־אָבִיוyad-a/VIVhis father's handלְהָסִירle/ha/SIRto removeאֹתָהּo/TAitמֵעַלme/ALfromרֹאשׁ־אֶפְרַיִםRosh-ef/RA/yimEphraim's headעַל־רֹאשׁal-roshupon the head ofמְנַשֶּׁה׃Me/nash/SHEManasseh

    And when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him: and he held up his father's hand, to remove it from Ephraim's head unto Manasseh's head.

18. 18

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephאֶל־אָבִיוel-a/VIVto his fatherלֹא־כֵןlo-khennot soאָבִיa/VImy fatherכִּי־זֶהki-zefor this isהַבְּכֹרhab/be/KHORthe firstbornשִׂיםsimputיְמִינְךָye/mi/ne/KHAyour right handעַל־רֹאשׁוֹ׃al-ro/SHOupon his head

    And Joseph said unto his father, Not so, my father: for this is the firstborn; put thy right hand upon his head.

19. 19

    וַיְמָאֵןvay/ma/ENand he refusedאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knowבְנִיve/NImy sonיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knowגַּם־הוּאgam-huhe alsoיִהְיֶה־לְּעָםyih/YE-le/AMshall become a peopleוְגַם־הוּאve/GAM-huand he alsoיִגְדָּלyig/DALshall be greatוְאוּלָםve/u/LAMbut trulyאָחִיוa/CHIVhis brotherהַקָּטֹןhak/ka/TONthe youngerיִגְדַּלyig/DALshall be greaterמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nuthan heוְזַרְעוֹve/zar/Oand his seedיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beמְלֹא־הַגּוֹיִם׃me/LO-hag/go/YIMa multitude of nations

    And his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it: he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.

20. 20

    וַיְבָרְכֵםvay/va/re/KHEMand he blessed themבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMin the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatלֵאמוֹרle/MORsayingבְּךָbe/KHAin youיְבָרֵךְye/va/REKHshall blessיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingיְשִׂמְךָye/sim/KHAmake youאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodכְּאֶפְרַיִםke/Ef/RA/yimas Ephraimוְכִמְנַשֶּׁהve/Khim/nash/SHEand as Manassehוַיָּשֶׂםvay/YA/semand he setאֶת־אֶפְרַיִםet-Ef/RA/yimEphraimלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeמְנַשֶּׁה׃Me/nash/SHEManasseh

    And he blessed them that day, saying, In thee shall Israel bless, saying, God make thee as Ephraim and as Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before Manasseh.

21. 21

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֶל־יוֹסֵףel-Yo/SEFto Josephהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIמֵתmetdieוְהָיָהve/ha/YAbut shall beאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodעִמָּכֶםim/ma/KHEMwith youוְהֵשִׁיבve/he/SHIVand bring againאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouאֶל־אֶרֶץel-E/retsto the land ofאֲבֹתֵיכֶם׃a/vo/te/KHEMyour fathers

    And Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die: but God shall be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers.

22. 22

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iנָתַתִּיna/TAT/tihave givenלְךָle/KHAto youשְׁכֶםshe/KHEMportionאַחַדa/CHADoneעַל־אַחֶיךָal-a/CHE/khaabove your brethrenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלָקַחְתִּיla/KACH/tiI tookמִיַּדmiy/YADfrom the hand ofהָאֱמֹרִיha/E/mo/RIthe Amoriteבְּחַרְבִּיbe/char/BIwith my swordוּבְקַשְׁתִּי׃u/ve/kash/TIand with my bow

    Moreover I have given to thee one portion above thy brethren, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.
