   Then Joseph came and told Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brethren, and their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have, are come out of the land of Canaan; and, behold, they are in the land of Goshen.

   וּמִקְצֵהu/mik/TSEand from amongאֶחָיוe/CHAYVhis brethrenלָקַחla/KACHtookחֲמִשָּׁהcha/mish/SHAfiveאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenוַיַּצִּגֵםvay/yats/tsi/GEMand presented themלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeפַרְעֹה׃Far/OPharaoh

   And he took some of his brethren, even five men, and presented them unto Pharaoh.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidפַּרְעֹהPar/OPharaohאֶל־אֶחָיוel-e/CHAYVto his brethrenמַה־מַּעֲשֵׂיכֶםma-ma/a/se/KHEMwhat is your occupationוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֶל־פַּרְעֹהel-Par/Oto Pharaohרֹעֵהro/Eare shepherds ofצֹאןtsonflocksעֲבָדֶיךָa/va/DE/khayour servantsגַּם־אֲנַחְנוּgam-a/NACH/nuboth weגַּם־אֲבוֹתֵינוּ׃gam-a/vo/TE/nuand our fathers

   And Pharaoh said unto his brethren, What is your occupation? And they said unto Pharaoh, Thy servants are shepherds, both we, and also our fathers.

   They said moreover unto Pharaoh, For to sojourn in the land are we come; for thy servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the famine is sore in the land of Canaan: now therefore, we pray thee, let thy servants dwell in the land of Goshen.

   And Pharaoh spake unto Joseph, saying, Thy father and thy brethren are come unto thee:

   The land of Egypt is before thee; in the best of the land make thy father and brethren to dwell; in the land of Goshen let them dwell: and if thou knowest any men of activity among them, then make them rulers over my cattle.

   And Joseph brought in Jacob his father, and set him before Pharaoh: and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidפַּרְעֹהPar/OPharaohאֶל־יַעֲקֹבel-Ya/a/KOVto Jacobכַּמָּהkam/MAhow many areיְמֵיye/MEthe days ofשְׁנֵיshe/NEthe years ofחַיֶּיךָ׃chay/YE/khayour life

   And Pharaoh said unto Jacob, How old art thou?

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobאֶל־פַּרְעֹהel-Par/Oto Pharaohיְמֵיye/MEthe days ofשְׁנֵיshe/NEthe years ofמְגוּרַיme/gu/RAYmy sojourningsשְׁלֹשִׁיםshe/lo/SHIMthirtyוּמְאַתu/me/ATand one hundredשָׁנָהsha/NAyearsמְעַטme/ATfewוְרָעִיםve/ra/IMand evilהָיוּha/YUhave beenיְמֵיye/MEthe days ofשְׁנֵיshe/NEthe years ofחַיַּיchay/YAYmy lifeוְלֹאve/LOand notהִשִּׂיגוּhis/SI/guhave attained toאֶת־יְמֵיet-ye/MEthe days ofשְׁנֵיshe/NEthe years ofחַיֵּיchay/YEthe life ofאֲבֹתַיa/vo/TAYmy fathersבִּימֵיbi/MEin the days ofמְגוּרֵיהֶם׃me/gu/re/HEMtheir sojournings

   And Jacob said unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage are an hundred and thirty years: few and evil have the days of the years of my life been, and have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.

    וַיְבָרֶךְvay/VA/rekhand blessedיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobאֶת־פַּרְעֹהet-Par/OPharaohוַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outמִלִּפְנֵיmil/lif/NEfrom the presence ofפַרְעֹה׃Far/OPharaoh

    And Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from before Pharaoh.

    וַיּוֹשֵׁבvay/yo/SHEVand placedיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephאֶת־אָבִיוet-a/VIVhis fatherוְאֶת־אֶחָיוve/ET-e/CHAYVand his brethrenוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand gaveלָהֶםla/HEMto themאֲחֻזָּהa/chuz/ZAa possessionבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptבְּמֵיטַבbe/me/TAVin the best ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofרַעְמְסֵסRa/me/SESRamesesכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasצִוָּהtsiv/VAcommandedפַרְעֹה׃Far/OPharaoh

    And Joseph placed his father and his brethren, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.

    וַיְכַלְכֵּלvay/khal/KELand nourishedיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephאֶת־אָבִיוet-a/VIVhis fatherוְאֶת־אֶחָיוve/ET-e/CHAYVand his brethrenוְאֵתve/ETandכׇּל־בֵּיתkol-betall the house ofאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherלֶחֶםLE/chembreadלְפִיle/FIaccording toהַטָּף׃hat/TAFthe little ones

    And Joseph nourished his father, and his brethren, and all his father's household, with bread, according to their families.

13. 13

    וְלֶחֶםve/LE/chemand breadאֵיןenthere was noבְּכׇל־הָאָרֶץbe/KHOL-ha/A/retsin all the landכִּי־כָבֵדki-kha/VEDfor was soreהָרָעָבha/ra/AVthe famineמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyוַתֵּלַהּvat/TE/laso that faintedאֶרֶץE/retsthe land ofמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptוְאֶרֶץve/E/retsand the land ofכְּנַעַןKe/NA/anCanaanמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEby reason ofהָרָעָב׃ha/ra/AVthe famine

    And there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very sore, so that the land of Egypt and all the land of Canaan fainted by reason of the famine.

14. 14

    וַיְלַקֵּטvay/lak/KETand he gathered upיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephאֶת־כׇּל־הַכֶּסֶףet-kol-hak/KE/sefall the moneyהַנִּמְצָאhan/nim/TSAthat was foundבְאֶרֶץ־מִצְרַיִםve/E/rets-mits/RA/yimin the land of Egyptוּבְאֶרֶץu/ve/E/retsand in the land ofכְּנַעַןKe/NA/anCanaanבַּשֶּׁבֶרbash/SHE/verfor the grainאֲשֶׁר־הֵםa/SHER-hemwhich theyשֹׁבְרִיםshov/RIMboughtוַיָּבֵאvay/ya/VEand broughtיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephאֶת־הַכֶּסֶףet-hak/KE/sefthe moneyבֵּיתָהBE/tainto the house ofפַרְעֹה׃Far/OPharaoh

    And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the corn which they bought: and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house.

15. 15

    וַיִּתֹּםvay/yit/TOMand when failedהַכֶּסֶףhak/KE/sefthe moneyמֵאֶרֶץme/E/retsfrom the land ofמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptוּמֵאֶרֶץu/me/E/retsand from the land ofכְּנַעַןKe/NA/anCanaanוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/ucameכׇל־מִצְרַיִםkhol-Mits/RA/yimall Egyptאֶל־יוֹסֵףel-Yo/SEFto Josephלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהָבָה־לָּנוּHA/va-LA/nugive usלֶחֶםLE/chembreadוְלָמָּהve/LAM/mafor whyנָמוּתna/MUTshould we dieנֶגְדֶּךָneg/DE/khain your presenceכִּיkiforאָפֵסa/FESfailsכָּסֶף׃KA/sefthe money

    And when money failed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came unto Joseph, and said, Give us bread: for why should we die in thy presence? for the money faileth.

16. 16

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephהָבוּha/VUgiveמִקְנֵיכֶםmik/ne/KHEMyour livestockוְאֶתְּנָהve/et/te/NAand I will giveלָכֶםla/KHEMyouבְּמִקְנֵיכֶםbe/mik/ne/KHEMfor your livestockאִם־אָפֵסim-a/FESif failsכָּסֶף׃KA/sefmoney

    And Joseph said, Give your cattle; and I will give you for your cattle, if money fail.

17. 17

    וַיָּבִיאוּvay/ya/VI/uand they broughtאֶת־מִקְנֵיהֶםet-mik/ne/HEMtheir livestockאֶל־יוֹסֵףel-Yo/SEFto Josephוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand gaveלָהֶםla/HEMthemיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephלֶחֶםLE/chembreadבַּסּוּסִיםbas/su/SIMfor the horsesוּבְמִקְנֵהu/ve/mik/NEand for the livestock ofהַצֹּאןhats/TSONthe flockוּבְמִקְנֵהu/ve/mik/NEand for the livestock ofהַבָּקָרhab/ba/KARthe herdוּבַחֲמֹרִיםu/va/cha/mo/RIMand for the donkeysוַיְנַהֲלֵםvay/na/ha/LEMand he fed themבַּלֶּחֶםbal/LE/chemwith breadבְּכׇל־מִקְנֵהֶםbe/KHOL-mik/ne/HEMfor all their livestockבַּשָּׁנָהbash/sha/NAin the yearהַהִוא׃ha/HIVthat

    And they brought their cattle unto Joseph: and Joseph gave them bread in exchange for horses, and for the flocks, and for the cattle of the herds, and for the asses: and he fed them with bread for all their cattle for that year.

18. 18

    וַתִּתֹּםvat/tit/TOMwhen was endedהַשָּׁנָהhash/sha/NAthe yearהַהִואha/HIVthatוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himבַּשָּׁנָהbash/sha/NAin the yearהַשֵּׁנִיתhash/she/NITthe secondוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidלוֹloto himלֹא־נְכַחֵדlo-ne/kha/CHEDwe will not hideמֵאֲדֹנִיme/a/do/NIfrom my lordכִּיkihow thatאִם־תַּםim-tamis spentהַכֶּסֶףhak/KE/sefthe moneyוּמִקְנֵהu/mik/NEand the herds ofהַבְּהֵמָהhab/be/he/MAcattleאֶל־אֲדֹנִיel-a/do/NIare my lord'sלֹאlonotנִשְׁאַרnish/ARis leftלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordבִּלְתִּיbil/TIbutאִם־גְּוִיָּתֵנוּim-ge/viy/ya/TE/nuour bodiesוְאַדְמָתֵנוּ׃ve/ad/ma/TE/nuand our lands

    When that year was ended, they came unto him the second year, and said unto him, We will not hide it from my lord, how that our money is spent; my lord also hath our herds of cattle; there is not ought left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands:

19. 19

    לָמָּהLAM/mawhyנָמוּתna/MUTshall we dieלְעֵינֶיךָle/e/NE/khabefore your eyesגַּם־אֲנַחְנוּgam-a/NACH/nuboth weגַּםgamandאַדְמָתֵנוּad/ma/TE/nuour landקְנֵה־אֹתָנוּke/NE-o/TA/nubuy usוְאֶת־אַדְמָתֵנוּve/ET-ad/ma/TE/nuand our landבַּלָּחֶםbal/LA/chemfor breadוְנִהְיֶהve/nih/YEand will beאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuweוְאַדְמָתֵנוּve/ad/ma/TE/nuand our landעֲבָדִיםa/va/DIMservantsלְפַרְעֹהle/Far/Oto Pharaohוְתֶן־זֶרַעve/TEN-ZE/raand give seedוְנִחְיֶהve/nich/YEthat we may liveוְלֹאve/LOand notנָמוּתna/MUTdieוְהָאֲדָמָהve/ha/a/da/MAand the landלֹאlonotתֵשָׁם׃te/SHAMbe desolate

    Wherefore shall we die before thine eyes, both we and our land? buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants unto Pharaoh: and give us seed, that we may live, and not die, that the land be not desolate.

20. 20

    וַיִּקֶןvay/YI/kenand boughtיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephאֶת־כׇּל־אַדְמַתet-kol-ad/MATall the land ofמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimthe EgyptiansלְפַרְעֹהLe/far/OPharaoh'sכִּי־מָכְרוּki-ma/khe/RUfor soldמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimthe Egyptiansאִישׁishevery manשָׂדֵהוּsa/DE/huhis fieldכִּי־חָזַקki-cha/ZAKbecause prevailedעֲלֵהֶםa/le/HEMover themהָרָעָבha/ra/AVthe famineוַתְּהִיvat/te/HIso becameהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landלְפַרְעֹה׃Le/far/OPharaoh's

    And Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptians sold every man his field, because the famine prevailed over them: so the land became Pharaoh's.

21. 21

    וְאֶת־הָעָםve/ET-ha/AMand the peopleהֶעֱבִירhe/e/VIRhe removedאֹתוֹo/TOthemלֶעָרִיםle/a/RIMto the citiesמִקְצֵהmik/TSEfrom the end ofגְבוּל־מִצְרַיִםge/VUL-Mits/RA/yimthe borders of Egyptוְעַד־קָצֵהוּ׃ve/AD-ka/TSE/hueven to the other end of it

    And as for the people, he removed them to cities from one end of the borders of Egypt even to the other end thereof.

22. 22

    רַקrakonlyאַדְמַתad/MATthe land ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsלֹאlonotקָנָהka/NAbought heכִּיkiforחֹקchoka portionלַכֹּהֲנִיםlak/ko/ha/NIMfor the priestsמֵאֵתme/ETfromפַּרְעֹהPar/OPharaohוְאָכְלוּve/a/khe/LUand did eatאֶת־חֻקָּםet-chuk/KAMtheir portionאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנָתַןna/TANgaveלָהֶםla/HEMthemפַּרְעֹהPar/OPharaohעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeלֹאlonotמָכְרוּma/khe/RUthey soldאֶת־אַדְמָתָם׃et-ad/ma/TAMtheir lands

    Only the land of the priests bought he not; for the priests had a portion assigned them of Pharaoh, and did eat their portion which Pharaoh gave them: wherefore they sold not their lands.

23. 23

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephאֶל־הָעָםel-ha/AMto the peopleהֵןhenbeholdקָנִיתִיka/NI/tiI have boughtאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthis dayוְאֶת־אַדְמַתְכֶםve/ET-ad/mat/KHEMand your landלְפַרְעֹהle/Far/Ofor Pharaohהֵא־לָכֶםhe-la/KHEMlo here is for youזֶרַעZE/raseedוּזְרַעְתֶּםu/ze/ra/TEMand you shall sowאֶת־הָאֲדָמָה׃et-ha/a/da/MAthe ground

    Then Joseph said unto the people, Behold, I have bought you this day and your land for Pharaoh: lo, here is seed for you, and ye shall sow the land.

24. 24

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall come to passבַּתְּבוּאֹתbat/te/vu/OTin the increaseוּנְתַתֶּםu/ne/tat/TEMthat you shall giveחֲמִישִׁיתcha/mi/SHITthe fifth partלְפַרְעֹהle/Far/Oto Pharaohוְאַרְבַּעve/ar/BAand fourהַיָּדֹתhay/ya/DOTpartsיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beלָכֶםla/KHEMyour ownלְזֶרַעle/ZE/rafor seed ofהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEthe fieldוּלְאׇכְלְכֶםu/le/okh/le/KHEMand for your foodוְלַאֲשֶׁרve/la/a/SHERand for them thatבְּבָתֵּיכֶםbe/vat/te/KHEMare in your housesוְלֶאֱכֹלve/le/e/KHOLand for foodלְטַפְּכֶם׃le/tap/pe/KHEMfor your little ones

    And it shall come to pass in the increase, that ye shall give the fifth part unto Pharaoh, and four parts shall be your own, for seed of the field, and for your food, and for them of your households, and for food for your little ones.

25. 25

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidהֶחֱיִתָנוּhe/che/yi/TA/nuyou have saved our livesנִמְצָא־חֵןnim/TSA-chenlet us find favorבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyes ofאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordוְהָיִינוּve/ha/YI/nuand we will beעֲבָדִיםa/va/DIMservantsלְפַרְעֹה׃le/Far/Oto Pharaoh

    And they said, Thou hast saved our lives: let us find grace in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh's servants.

26. 26

    וַיָּשֶׂםvay/YA/semand madeאֹתָהּo/TAitיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephלְחֹקle/CHOKa statuteעַד־הַיּוֹםad-hay/YOMeven until the dayהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisעַל־אַדְמַתal-ad/MATupon the land ofמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptלְפַרְעֹהle/Far/Ofor Pharaohלַחֹמֶשׁla/CHO/meshto the fifth partרַקrakonlyאַדְמַתad/MATthe land ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsלְבַדָּםle/vad/DAMonlyלֹאlonotהָיְתָהha/ye/TAbecameלְפַרְעֹה׃Le/far/OPharaoh's

    And Joseph made it a law over the land of Egypt unto this day, that Pharaoh should have the fifth part; except the land of the priests only, which became not Pharaoh's.

27. 27

    וַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand dweltיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofגֹּשֶׁןGO/shenGoshenוַיֵּאָחֲזוּvay/ye/a/cha/ZUand they had possessionsבָהּvain itוַיִּפְרוּvay/yif/RUand they were fruitfulוַיִּרְבּוּvay/yir/BUand multipliedמְאֹד׃me/ODexceedingly

    And Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of Goshen; and they had possessions therein, and grew, and multiplied exceedingly.

    And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years: so the whole age of Jacob was an hundred forty and seven years.

    וַיִּקְרְבוּvay/yik/re/VUand drew nearיְמֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלye/ME-Yis/ra/ELthe days of Israelלָמוּתla/MUTto dieוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledלִבְנוֹliv/NOhis sonלְיוֹסֵףLe/yo/SEFJosephוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלוֹloto himאִם־נָאim-naif I prayמָצָאתִיma/TSA/tiI have foundחֵןchenfavorבְּעֵינֶיךָbe/e/NE/khain your eyesשִׂים־נָאsim-naput I prayיָדְךָya/de/KHAyour handתַּחַתTA/chatunderיְרֵכִיye/re/KHImy thighוְעָשִׂיתָve/a/SI/taand doעִמָּדִיim/ma/DIwith meחֶסֶדCHE/sedkindnessוֶאֱמֶתve/e/METand truthאַל־נָאal-nado not I prayתִקְבְּרֵנִיtik/be/RE/nibury meבְּמִצְרָיִם׃be/Mits/RA/yimin Egypt

    And the time drew nigh that Israel must die: and he called his son Joseph, and said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me; bury me not, I pray thee, in Egypt:

30. 30

    וְשָׁכַבְתִּיve/sha/KHAV/tibut I will lieעִם־אֲבֹתַיim-a/vo/TAYwith my fathersוּנְשָׂאתַנִיu/ne/sa/TA/niand you shall carry meמִמִּצְרַיִםmim/Mits/RA/yimout of Egyptוּקְבַרְתַּנִיu/ke/var/TA/niand bury meבִּקְבֻרָתָםbik/vu/ra/TAMin their buryingplaceוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIאֶעֱשֶׂהe/e/SEwill doכִדְבָרֶךָ׃khid/va/RE/khaaccording to your word

    But I will lie with my fathers, and thou shalt carry me out of Egypt, and bury me in their buryingplace. And he said, I will do as thou hast said.

31. 31

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהִשָּׁבְעָהhish/SHAV/aswearלִיlito meוַיִּשָּׁבַעvay/yish/sha/VAand sworeלוֹloto himוַיִּשְׁתַּחוּvay/yish/TA/chuand bowed himselfיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelעַל־רֹאשׁal-roshupon the head ofהַמִּטָּה׃ham/mit/TAthe bed

    And he said, Swear unto me. And he sware unto him. And Israel bowed himself upon the bed's head.
