   וְאֵלֶּהand theseתֹּלְדוֹתthe generations ofעֵשָׂוEsauהוּאheאֱדוֹם׃Edom

   Now these are the generations of Esau, who is Edom.

2. 2

   עֵשָׂוEsauלָקַחtookאֶת־נָשָׁיוhis wivesמִבְּנוֹתof the daughters ofכְּנָעַןCanaanאֶת־עָדָהAdahבַּת־אֵילוֹןdaughter of Elonהַחִתִּיthe Hittiteוְאֶת־אׇהֳלִיבָמָהand Aholibamahבַּת־עֲנָהdaughter of Anahבַּת־צִבְעוֹןdaughter of Zibeonהַחִוִּי׃the Hivite

   Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaan; Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite;

   וְאֶת־בָּשְׂמַתand Bashemathבַּת־יִשְׁמָעֵאלdaughter of Ishmaelאֲחוֹתthe sister ofנְבָיוֹת׃Nebaioth

   And Bashemath Ishmael's daughter, sister of Nebajoth.

4. 4

   וַתֵּלֶדand boreעָדָהAdahלְעֵשָׂוto Esauאֶת־אֱלִיפָזEliphazוּבָשְׂמַתand Bashemathיָלְדָהshe boreאֶת־רְעוּאֵל׃Reuel

   And Adah bare to Esau Eliphaz; and Bashemath bare Reuel;

   וְאׇהֳלִיבָמָהand Aholibamahיָלְדָהshe boreאֶת־[יְעוּשׁ]Jeush(יעיש)וְאֶת־יַעְלָםand Jaalamוְאֶת־קֹרַחand Korahאֵלֶּהtheseבְּנֵיthe sons ofעֵשָׂוEsauאֲשֶׁרwhichיֻלְּדוּ־לוֹwere born to himבְּאֶרֶץin the land ofכְּנָעַן׃Canaan

   And Aholibamah bare Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah: these are the sons of Esau, which were born unto him in the land of Canaan.

   וַיִּקַּחand tookעֵשָׂוEsauאֶת־נָשָׁיוhis wivesוְאֶת־בָּנָיוand his sonsוְאֶת־בְּנֹתָיוand his daughtersוְאֶת־כׇּל־נַפְשׁוֹתand all souls ofבֵּיתוֹhis houseוְאֶת־מִקְנֵהוּand his livestockוְאֶת־כׇּל־בְּהֶמְתּוֹand all his beastsוְאֵתandכׇּל־קִנְיָנוֹall his substanceאֲשֶׁרwhichרָכַשׁhe had accumulatedבְּאֶרֶץin the land ofכְּנָעַןCanaanוַיֵּלֶךְand wentאֶל־אֶרֶץto a landמִפְּנֵיfrom the face ofיַעֲקֹבJacobאָחִיו׃his brother

   And Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance, which he had got in the land of Canaan; and went into the country from the face of his brother Jacob.

7. 7

   כִּי־הָיָהbecause wasרְכוּשָׁםtheir substanceרָבgreatמִשֶּׁבֶתthan to dwellיַחְדָּוtogetherוְלֹאand notיָכְלָהcouldאֶרֶץthe land ofמְגוּרֵיהֶםtheir sojourningsלָשֵׂאתto bearאֹתָםthemמִפְּנֵיbecause ofמִקְנֵיהֶם׃their livestock

   For their riches were more than that they might dwell together; and the land wherein they were strangers could not bear them because of their cattle.

8. 8

   וַיֵּשֶׁבand dweltעֵשָׂוEsauבְּהַרin mountשֵׂעִירSeirעֵשָׂוEsauהוּאheאֱדוֹם׃Edom

   Thus dwelt Esau in mount Seir: Esau is Edom.

9. 9

   וְאֵלֶּהand theseתֹּלְדוֹתthe generations ofעֵשָׂוEsauאֲבִיthe father ofאֱדוֹםEdomבְּהַרin mountשֵׂעִיר׃Seir

   And these are the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in mount Seir:

10. 10

    אֵלֶּהtheseשְׁמוֹתthe names ofבְּנֵי־עֵשָׂוsons of EsauאֱלִיפַזEliphazבֶּן־עָדָהson of Adahאֵשֶׁתthe wife ofעֵשָׂוEsauרְעוּאֵלReuelבֶּן־בָּשְׂמַתson of Bashemathאֵשֶׁתthe wife ofעֵשָׂו׃Esau

    These are the names of Esau's sons; Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau, Reuel the son of Bashemath the wife of Esau.

11. 11

    וַיִּהְיוּand they wereבְּנֵיthe sons ofאֱלִיפָזEliphazתֵּימָןTemanאוֹמָרOmarצְפוֹZephoוְגַעְתָּםand Gatamוּקְנַז׃and Kenaz

    And the sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, and Gatam, and Kenaz.

12. 12

    וְתִמְנַעand Timnahהָיְתָהwasפִילֶגֶשׁa concubineלֶאֱלִיפַזof Eliphazבֶּן־עֵשָׂוson of Esauוַתֵּלֶדand boreלֶאֱלִיפַזof Eliphazאֶת־עֲמָלֵקAmalekאֵלֶּהtheseבְּנֵיthe sons ofעָדָהAdahאֵשֶׁתthe wife ofעֵשָׂו׃Esau

    And Timna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau's son; and she bare to Eliphaz Amalek: these were the sons of Adah Esau's wife.

13. 13

    וְאֵלֶּהand theseבְּנֵיthe sons ofרְעוּאֵלReuelנַחַתNahathוָזֶרַחand ZerahשַׁמָּהShammahוּמִזָּהand Mizzahאֵלֶּהtheseהָיוּwereבְּנֵיthe sons ofבָשְׂמַתBashemathאֵשֶׁתthe wife ofעֵשָׂו׃Esau

    And these are the sons of Reuel; Nahath, and Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah: these were the sons of Bashemath Esau's wife.

14. 14

    וְאֵלֶּהand theseהָיוּwereבְּנֵיthe sons ofאׇהֳלִיבָמָהAholibamahבַת־עֲנָהthe daughter of Anahבַּת־צִבְעוֹןdaughter of Zibeonאֵשֶׁתthe wife ofעֵשָׂוEsauוַתֵּלֶדand boreלְעֵשָׂוto Esauאֶת־[יְעוּשׁ]Jeush(יעיש)וְאֶת־יַעְלָםand Jaalamוְאֶת־קֹרַח׃and Korah

    And these were the sons of Aholibamah, the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon, Esau's wife: and she bare to Esau Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah.

    אֵלֶּהtheseאַלּוּפֵיchiefs ofבְנֵי־עֵשָׂוsons of Esauבְּנֵיthe sons ofאֱלִיפַזEliphazבְּכוֹרthe firstborn ofעֵשָׂוEsauאַלּוּףchiefתֵּימָןTemanאַלּוּףchiefאוֹמָרOmarאַלּוּףchiefצְפוֹZephoאַלּוּףchiefקְנַז׃Kenaz

    These were dukes of the sons of Esau: the sons of Eliphaz the firstborn son of Esau; duke Teman, duke Omar, duke Zepho, duke Kenaz,

16. 16

    אַלּוּף־קֹרַחchief KorahאַלּוּףchiefגַּעְתָּםGatamאַלּוּףchiefעֲמָלֵקAmalekאֵלֶּהtheseאַלּוּפֵיchiefs ofאֱלִיפַזEliphazבְּאֶרֶץin the land ofאֱדוֹםEdomאֵלֶּהtheseבְּנֵיthe sons ofעָדָה׃Adah

    Duke Korah, duke Gatam, and duke Amalek: these are the dukes that came of Eliphaz in the land of Edom; these were the sons of Adah.

17. 17

    וְאֵלֶּהand theseבְּנֵיthe sons ofרְעוּאֵלReuelבֶּן־עֵשָׂוson of EsauאַלּוּףchiefנַחַתNahathאַלּוּףchiefזֶרַחZerahאַלּוּףchiefשַׁמָּהShammahאַלּוּףchiefמִזָּהMizzahאֵלֶּהtheseאַלּוּפֵיchiefs ofרְעוּאֵלReuelבְּאֶרֶץin the land ofאֱדוֹםEdomאֵלֶּהtheseבְּנֵיthe sons ofבָשְׂמַתBashemathאֵשֶׁתthe wife ofעֵשָׂו׃Esau

    And these are the sons of Reuel Esau's son; duke Nahath, duke Zerah, duke Shammah, duke Mizzah: these are the dukes that came of Reuel in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Bashemath Esau's wife.

18. 18

    וְאֵלֶּהand theseבְּנֵיthe sons ofאׇהֳלִיבָמָהAholibamahאֵשֶׁתthe wife ofעֵשָׂוEsauאַלּוּףchiefיְעוּשׁJeushאַלּוּףchiefיַעְלָםJaalamאַלּוּףchiefקֹרַחKorahאֵלֶּהtheseאַלּוּפֵיchiefs ofאׇהֳלִיבָמָהAholibamahבַּת־עֲנָהdaughter of Anahאֵשֶׁתthe wife ofעֵשָׂו׃Esau

    And these are the sons of Aholibamah Esau's wife; duke Jeush, duke Jaalam, duke Korah: these were the dukes that came of Aholibamah the daughter of Anah, Esau's wife.

19. 19

    אֵלֶּהtheseבְנֵי־עֵשָׂוsons of Esauוְאֵלֶּהand theseאַלּוּפֵיהֶםtheir chiefsהוּאheאֱדוֹם׃Edom

    These are the sons of Esau, who is Edom, and these are their dukes.

20. 20

    אֵלֶּהtheseבְנֵי־שֵׂעִירsons of Seirהַחֹרִיthe Horitesיֹשְׁבֵיinhabitants ofהָאָרֶץthe landלוֹטָןLotanוְשׁוֹבָלand Shobalוְצִבְעוֹןand Zibeonוַעֲנָה׃and Anah

    These are the sons of Seir the Horite, who inhabited the land; Lotan, and Shobal, and Zibeon, and Anah,

21. 21

    וְדִשׁוֹןand Dishonוְאֵצֶרand Ezerוְדִישָׁןand Dishanאֵלֶּהtheseאַלּוּפֵיchiefs ofהַחֹרִיthe Horitesבְּנֵיthe sons ofשֵׂעִירSeirבְּאֶרֶץin the land ofאֱדוֹם׃Edom

    And Dishon, and Ezer, and Dishan: these are the dukes of the Horites, the children of Seir in the land of Edom.

22. 22

    וַיִּהְיוּand they wereבְנֵי־לוֹטָןsons of LotanחֹרִיHoriוְהֵימָםand Hemamוַאֲחוֹתand the sister ofלוֹטָןLotanתִּמְנָע׃Timnah

    And the children of Lotan were Hori and Hemam; and Lotan's sister was Timna.

23. 23

    וְאֵלֶּהand theseבְּנֵיthe sons ofשׁוֹבָלShobalעַלְוָןAlvanוּמָנַחַתand Manahathוְעֵיבָלand EbalשְׁפוֹShephoוְאוֹנָם׃and Onam

    And the children of Shobal were these; Alvan, and Manahath, and Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.

24. 24

    וְאֵלֶּהand theseבְנֵי־צִבְעוֹןsons of Zibeonוְאַיָּהand Aiahוַעֲנָהand AnahהוּאheעֲנָהAnahאֲשֶׁרwhichמָצָאfoundאֶת־הַיֵּמִםthe hot springsבַּמִּדְבָּרin the wildernessבִּרְעֹתוֹas he fedאֶת־הַחֲמֹרִיםthe donkeysלְצִבְעוֹןof Zibeonאָבִיו׃his father

    And these are the children of Zibeon; both Ajah, and Anah: this was that Anah that found the mules in the wilderness, as he fed the asses of Zibeon his father.

25. 25

    וְאֵלֶּהand theseבְנֵי־עֲנָהsons of AnahדִּשֹׁןDishonוְאׇהֳלִיבָמָהand Aholibamahבַּת־עֲנָה׃daughter of Anah

    And the children of Anah were these; Dishon, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah.

26. 26

    וְאֵלֶּהand theseבְּנֵיthe sons ofדִישָׁןDishanחֶמְדָּןHemdanוְאֶשְׁבָּןand Eshbanוְיִתְרָןand Ithranוּכְרָן׃and Cheran

    And these are the children of Dishon; Hemdan, and Eshban, and Ithran, and Cheran.

27. 27

    אֵלֶּהtheseבְּנֵי־אֵצֶרsons of EzerבִּלְהָןBilhanוְזַעֲוָןand Zaavanוַעֲקָן׃and Akan

    The children of Ezer are these; Bilhan, and Zaavan, and Akan.

28. 28

    אֵלֶּהtheseבְנֵי־דִישָׁןsons of DishanעוּץUzוַאֲרָן׃and Aran

    The children of Dishan are these; Uz, and Aran.

29. 29

    אֵלֶּהtheseאַלּוּפֵיchiefs ofהַחֹרִיthe HoritesאַלּוּףchiefלוֹטָןLotanאַלּוּףchiefשׁוֹבָלShobalאַלּוּףchiefצִבְעוֹןZibeonאַלּוּףchiefעֲנָה׃Anah

    These are the dukes that came of the Horites; duke Lotan, duke Shobal, duke Zibeon, duke Anah,

30. 30

    אַלּוּףchiefדִּשֹׁןDishonאַלּוּףchiefאֵצֶרEzerאַלּוּףchiefדִּישָׁןDishanאֵלֶּהtheseאַלּוּפֵיchiefs ofהַחֹרִיthe Horitesלְאַלֻּפֵיהֶםaccording to their chiefsבְּאֶרֶץin the land ofשֵׂעִיר׃Seir

    Duke Dishon, duke Ezer, duke Dishan: these are the dukes that came of Hori, among their dukes in the land of Seir.

31. 31

    וְאֵלֶּהand theseהַמְּלָכִיםthe kingsאֲשֶׁרwhichמָלְכוּthey reignedבְּאֶרֶץin the land ofאֱדוֹםEdomלִפְנֵיbeforeמְלׇךְ־מֶלֶךְreigned any kingלִבְנֵיover the sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel

    And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom, before there reigned any king over the children of Israel.

32. 32

    וַיִּמְלֹךְand he did reignבֶּאֱדוֹםin EdomבֶּלַעBelaבֶּן־בְּעוֹרson of Beorוְשֵׁםand the name ofעִירוֹhis cityדִּנְהָבָה׃Dinhabah

    And Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom: and the name of his city was Dinhabah.

33. 33

    וַיָּמׇתand he diedבָּלַעBelaוַיִּמְלֹךְand he did reignתַּחְתָּיוin his steadיוֹבָבJobabבֶּן־זֶרַחson of Zerahמִבׇּצְרָה׃from Bozrah

    And Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his stead.

34. 34

    וַיָּמׇתand he diedיוֹבָבJobabוַיִּמְלֹךְand he did reignתַּחְתָּיוin his steadחֻשָׁםHushamמֵאֶרֶץfrom the land ofהַתֵּימָנִי׃the Temanites

    And Jobab died, and Husham of the land of Temani reigned in his stead.

35. 35

    וַיָּמׇתand he diedחֻשָׁםHushamוַיִּמְלֹךְand he did reignתַּחְתָּיוin his steadהֲדַדHadadבֶּן־בְּדַדson of Bedadהַמַּכֶּהthe one strikingאֶת־מִדְיָןMidianבִּשְׂדֵהin the field ofמוֹאָבMoabוְשֵׁםand the name ofעִירוֹhis cityעֲוִית׃Avith

    And Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who smote Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Avith.

36. 36

    וַיָּמׇתand he diedהֲדָדHadadוַיִּמְלֹךְand he did reignתַּחְתָּיוin his steadשַׂמְלָהSamlahמִמַּשְׂרֵקָה׃from Masrekah

    And Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead.

37. 37

    וַיָּמׇתand he diedשַׂמְלָהSamlahוַיִּמְלֹךְand he did reignתַּחְתָּיוin his steadשָׁאוּלSaulמֵרְחֹבוֹתfrom Rehobothהַנָּהָר׃the river

    And Samlah died, and Saul of Rehoboth by the river reigned in his stead.

38. 38

    וַיָּמׇתand diedשָׁאוּלSaulוַיִּמְלֹךְand he did reignתַּחְתָּיוin his steadבַּעַלBaalחָנָןHananבֶּן־עַכְבּוֹר׃son of Achbor

    And Saul died, and Baal-hanan the son of Achbor reigned in his stead.

39. 39

    וַיָּמׇתand he diedבַּעַלBaalחָנָןHananבֶּן־עַכְבּוֹרson of Achborוַיִּמְלֹךְand he did reignתַּחְתָּיוin his steadהֲדַרHadarוְשֵׁםand the name ofעִירוֹhis cityפָּעוּPauוְשֵׁםand the name ofאִשְׁתּוֹhis wifeמְהֵיטַבְאֵלMehetabelבַּת־מַטְרֵדdaughter of Matredבַּתthe daughter ofמֵיMeזָהָב׃zahab

    And Baal-hanan the son of Achbor died, and Hadar reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Pau; and his wife's name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mezahab.

40. 40

    וְאֵלֶּהand theseשְׁמוֹתthe names ofאַלּוּפֵיchiefs ofעֵשָׂוEsauלְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָםby their familiesלִמְקֹמֹתָםby their placesבִּשְׁמֹתָםby their namesאַלּוּףchiefתִּמְנָעTimnahאַלּוּףchiefעַלְוָהAlvahאַלּוּףchiefיְתֵת׃Jetheth

    And these are the names of the dukes that came of Esau, according to their families, after their places, by their names; duke Timnah, duke Alvah, duke Jetheth,

41. 41

    אַלּוּףchiefאׇהֳלִיבָמָהAholibamahאַלּוּףchiefאֵלָהElahאַלּוּףchiefפִּינֹן׃Pinon

    Duke Aholibamah, duke Elah, duke Pinon,

42. 42

    אַלּוּףchiefקְנַזKenazאַלּוּףchiefתֵּימָןTemanאַלּוּףchiefמִבְצָר׃Mibzar

    Duke Kenaz, duke Teman, duke Mibzar,

43. 43

    אַלּוּףchiefמַגְדִּיאֵלMagdielאַלּוּףchiefעִירָםIramאֵלֶּהtheseאַלּוּפֵיchiefs ofאֱדוֹםEdomלְמֹשְׁבֹתָםby their dwellingsבְּאֶרֶץin the land ofאֲחֻזָּתָםtheir possessionהוּאheעֵשָׂוEsauאֲבִיthe father ofאֱדוֹם׃Edom

    Duke Magdiel, duke Iram: these be the dukes of Edom, according to their habitations in the land of their possession: he is Esau the father of the Edomites.
