   וַתֵּצֵאvat/te/TSEand went outדִינָהDi/NADinahבַּת־לֵאָהbat-Le/Athe daughter of Leahאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomיָלְדָהya/le/DAshe boreלְיַעֲקֹבle/Ya/a/KOVto Jacobלִרְאוֹתlir/OTto seeבִּבְנוֹתbiv/NOTthe daughters ofהָאָרֶץ׃ha/A/retsthe land

   And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.

   וַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawאֹתָהּo/TAherשְׁכֶםShe/KHEMShechemבֶּן־חֲמוֹרben-Cha/MORthe son of Hamorהַחִוִּיha/Chiv/VIthe Hiviteנְשִׂיאne/SIthe prince ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֹתָהּo/TAherוַיִּשְׁכַּבvay/yish/KAVand lay withאֹתָהּo/TAherוַיְעַנֶּהָ׃vay/an/NE/haand humbled her

   And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her.

   וַתִּדְבַּקvat/tid/BAKand claveנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhis soulבְּדִינָהbe/Di/NAto Dinahבַּת־יַעֲקֹבbat-Ya/a/KOVthe daughter of Jacobוַיֶּאֱהַבvay/ye/e/HAVand he lovedאֶת־הַנַּעֲרָet-han/na/a/RAthe damselוַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand spokeעַל־לֵבal-levto the heart ofהַנַּעֲרָ׃han/na/a/RAthe damsel

   And his soul clave unto Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and spake kindly unto the damsel.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשְׁכֶםShe/KHEMShechemאֶל־חֲמוֹרel-Cha/MORto Hamorאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingקַח־לִיkach-liget meאֶת־הַיַּלְדָּהet-hay/yal/DAthe girlהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisלְאִשָּׁה׃le/ish/SHAto wife

   And Shechem spake unto his father Hamor, saying, Get me this damsel to wife.

   וְיַעֲקֹבve/Ya/a/KOVand Jacobשָׁמַעsha/MAheardכִּיkithatטִמֵּאtim/MEhe had defiledאֶת־דִּינָהet-Di/NADinahבִתּוֹvit/TOhis daughterוּבָנָיוu/va/NAYVand his sonsהָיוּha/YUwereאֶת־מִקְנֵהוּet-mik/NE/huwith his livestockבַּשָּׂדֶהbas/sa/DEin the fieldוְהֶחֱרִשׁve/he/che/RISHand held his peaceיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobעַד־בֹּאָם׃ad-bo/AMuntil they came

   And Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter: now his sons were with his cattle in the field: and Jacob held his peace until they were come.

   וַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outחֲמוֹרCha/MORHamorאֲבִי־שְׁכֶםa/VI-She/KHEMthe father of Shechemאֶל־יַעֲקֹבel-Ya/a/KOVto Jacobלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERto speakאִתּוֹ׃it/TOwith him

   And Hamor the father of Shechem went out unto Jacob to commune with him.

   וּבְנֵיu/ve/NEand the sons ofיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobבָּאוּBA/ucameמִן־הַשָּׂדֶהmin-has/sa/DEfrom the fieldכְּשׇׁמְעָםke/shom/AMwhen they heard itוַיִּתְעַצְּבוּvay/yit/ats/tse/VUand were grievedהָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMthe menוַיִּחַרvay/YI/charand it burnedלָהֶםla/HEMto themמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyכִּי־נְבָלָהki-ne/va/LAbecause a disgraceעָשָׂהa/SAhe had wroughtבְיִשְׂרָאֵלve/Yis/ra/ELin Israelלִשְׁכַּבlish/KAVin lying withאֶת־בַּת־יַעֲקֹבet-Bat-ya/a/KOVJacob's daughterוְכֵןve/KHENand soלֹאlonotיֵעָשֶׂה׃ye/a/SEought to be done

   And the sons of Jacob came out of the field when they heard it: and the men were grieved, and they were very wroth, because he had wrought folly in Israel in lying with Jacob's daughter; which thing ought not to be done.

   וַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand spokeחֲמוֹרCha/MORHamorאִתָּםit/TAMwith themלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingשְׁכֶםShe/KHEMShechemבְּנִיbe/NImy sonחָשְׁקָהcha/she/KAlongsנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhis soulבְּבִתְּכֶםbe/vit/te/KHEMfor your daughterתְּנוּte/NUgiveנָאnaI prayאֹתָהּo/TAherלוֹloto himלְאִשָּׁה׃le/ish/SHAto wife

   And Hamor communed with them, saying, The soul of my son Shechem longeth for your daughter: I pray you give her him to wife.

   וְהִתְחַתְּנוּve/hit/chat/te/NUand make marriages withאֹתָנוּo/TA/nuusבְּנֹתֵיכֶםbe/no/te/KHEMyour daughtersתִּתְּנוּ־לָנוּtit/te/NU-LA/nuyou shall give usוְאֶת־בְּנֹתֵינוּve/ET-be/no/TE/nuand our daughtersתִּקְחוּtik/CHUtakeלָכֶם׃la/KHEMfor yourselves

   And make ye marriages with us, and give your daughters unto us, and take our daughters unto you.

10. 10

    וְאִתָּנוּve/it/TA/nuand with usתֵּשֵׁבוּte/SHE/vuyou shall dwellוְהָאָרֶץve/ha/A/retsand the landתִּהְיֶהtih/YEshall beלִפְנֵיכֶםlif/ne/KHEMbefore youשְׁבוּshe/VUdwellוּסְחָרוּהָu/se/cha/RU/haand trade in itוְהֵאָחֲזוּve/he/a/cha/ZUand get possessionsבָּהּ׃bain it

    And ye shall dwell with us: and the land shall be before you; dwell and trade ye therein, and get you possessions therein.

11. 11

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשְׁכֶםShe/KHEMShechemאֶל־אָבִיהָel-a/VI/hato her fatherוְאֶל־אַחֶיהָve/EL-a/CHE/haand to her brethrenאֶמְצָא־חֵןem/TSA-chenlet me find favorבְּעֵינֵיכֶםbe/e/ne/KHEMin your eyesוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whateverתֹּאמְרוּto/me/RUyou shall sayאֵלַיe/LAYto meאֶתֵּן׃et/TENI will give

    And Shechem said unto her father and unto her brethren, Let me find grace in your eyes, and what ye shall say unto me I will give.

12. 12

    הַרְבּוּhar/BUincreaseעָלַיa/LAYupon meמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyמֹהַרMO/hara bride priceוּמַתָּןu/mat/TANand a giftוְאֶתְּנָהve/et/te/NAand I will giveכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasתֹּאמְרוּto/me/RUyou shall sayאֵלָיe/LAYunto meוּתְנוּ־לִיu/te/NU-liand give meאֶת־הַנַּעֲרָet-han/na/a/RAthe damselלְאִשָּׁה׃le/ish/SHAto wife

    Ask me never so much dowry and gift, and I will give according as ye shall say unto me: but give me the damsel to wife.

13. 13

    וַיַּעֲנוּvay/ya/a/NUand they answeredבְנֵי־יַעֲקֹבve/NE-ya/a/KOVthe sons of Jacobאֶת־שְׁכֶםet-She/KHEMShechemוְאֶת־חֲמוֹרve/ET-cha/MORand Hamorאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherבְּמִרְמָהbe/mir/MAdeceitfullyוַיְדַבֵּרוּvay/dab/BE/ruand they spokeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERbecauseטִמֵּאtim/MEhe had defiledאֵת־דִּינָהet-Di/NADinahאֲחֹתָם׃a/cho/TAMtheir sister

    And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and said, because he had defiled Dinah their sister:

14. 14

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themלֹאlonotנוּכַלnu/KHALcan weלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe thingהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisלָתֵתla/TETto giveאֶת־אֲחֹתֵנוּet-a/cho/TE/nuour sisterלְאִישׁle/ISHto a manאֲשֶׁר־לוֹa/SHER-lowho hasעׇרְלָהor/LAa foreskinכִּי־חֶרְפָּהki-cher/PAfor a reproachהִואhivthat isלָנוּ׃LA/nuto us

    And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that were a reproach unto us:

15. 15

    אַךְ־בְּזֹאתakh-be/ZOTbut in thisנֵאוֹתne/OTwill we consentלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאִםimifתִּהְיוּtih/YUyou will beכָמֹנוּkha/MO/nulike usלְהִמֹּלle/him/MOLthat be circumcisedלָכֶםla/KHEMof youכׇּל־זָכָר׃kol-za/KHARevery male

    But in this will we consent unto you: If ye will be as we be, that every male of you be circumcised;

16. 16

    וְנָתַנּוּve/na/TAN/nuand we will giveאֶת־בְּנֹתֵינוּet-be/no/TE/nuour daughtersלָכֶםla/KHEMto youוְאֶת־בְּנֹתֵיכֶםve/ET-be/no/te/KHEMand your daughtersנִקַּח־לָנוּnik/KACH-LA/nuwe will take to usוְיָשַׁבְנוּve/ya/SHAV/nuand we will dwellאִתְּכֶםit/te/KHEMwith youוְהָיִינוּve/ha/YI/nuand we will beלְעַםle/AMa peopleאֶחָד׃e/CHADone

    Then will we give our daughters unto you, and we will take your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people.

17. 17

    וְאִם־לֹאve/IM-loand if notתִשְׁמְעוּtish/me/Uyou will hearkenאֵלֵינוּe/LE/nuunto usלְהִמּוֹלle/him/MOLto be circumcisedוְלָקַחְנוּve/la/KACH/nuand we will takeאֶת־בִּתֵּנוּet-bit/TE/nuour daughterוְהָלָכְנוּ׃ve/ha/LAKH/nuand we will go

    But if ye will not hearken unto us, to be circumcised; then will we take our daughter, and we will be gone.

18. 18

    וַיִּיטְבוּvay/yi/te/VUand pleasedדִבְרֵיהֶםdiv/re/HEMtheir wordsבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyes ofחֲמוֹרCha/MORHamorוּבְעֵינֵיu/ve/e/NEand in the eyes ofשְׁכֶםShe/KHEMShechemבֶּן־חֲמוֹר׃ben-Cha/MORthe son of Hamor

    And their words pleased Hamor, and Shechem Hamor's son.

19. 19

    וְלֹא־אֵחַרve/LO-e/CHARand did not delayהַנַּעַרhan/NA/arthe young manלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe thingכִּיkibecauseחָפֵץcha/FETShe had delightבְּבַת־יַעֲקֹבbe/VAT-ya/a/KOVin the daughter of Jacobוְהוּאve/HUand heנִכְבָּדnikh/BADwas honoredמִכֹּלmik/KOLmore than allבֵּיתbetthe house ofאָבִיו׃a/VIVhis father

    And the young man deferred not to do the thing, because he had delight in Jacob's daughter: and he was more honourable than all the house of his father.

20. 20

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameחֲמוֹרCha/MORHamorוּשְׁכֶםu/She/KHEMand Shechemבְּנוֹbe/NOhis sonאֶל־שַׁעַרel-SHA/arto the gate ofעִירָםi/RAMtheir cityוַיְדַבְּרוּvay/dab/be/RUand they spokeאֶל־אַנְשֵׁיel-an/SHEto the men ofעִירָםi/RAMtheir cityלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    And Hamor and Shechem his son came unto the gate of their city, and communed with the men of their city, saying,

21. 21

    הָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMthe menהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseשְׁלֵמִיםshe/le/MIMpeaceableהֵםhemareאִתָּנוּit/TA/nuwith usוְיֵשְׁבוּve/yesh/VUand let them dwellבָאָרֶץva/A/retsin the landוְיִסְחֲרוּve/yis/cha/RUand let them tradeאֹתָהּo/TAin itוְהָאָרֶץve/ha/A/retsand the landהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdרַחֲבַת־יָדַיִםra/cha/VAT-ya/DA/yimis large enoughלִפְנֵיהֶםlif/ne/HEMfor themאֶת־בְּנֹתָםet-be/no/TAMtheir daughtersנִקַּח־לָנוּnik/KACH-LA/nulet us take to usלְנָשִׁיםle/na/SHIMfor wivesוְאֶת־בְּנֹתֵינוּve/ET-be/no/TE/nuand our daughtersנִתֵּןnit/TENlet us giveלָהֶם׃la/HEMto them

    These men are peaceable with us; therefore let them dwell in the land, and trade therein; for the land, behold, it is large enough for them; let us take their daughters to us for wives, and let us give them our daughters.

22. 22

    אַךְ־בְּזֹאתakh-be/ZOTbut in thisיֵאֹתוּye/O/tuwill consentלָנוּLA/nuto usהָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMthe menלָשֶׁבֶתla/SHE/vetto dwellאִתָּנוּit/TA/nuwith usלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beלְעַםle/AMa peopleאֶחָדe/CHADoneבְּהִמּוֹלbe/him/MOLif be circumcisedלָנוּLA/nuof usכׇּל־זָכָרkol-za/KHARevery maleכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasהֵםhemtheyנִמֹּלִים׃nim/mo/LIMare circumcised

    Only herein will the men consent unto us for to dwell with us, to be one people, if every male among us be circumcised, as they are circumcised.

23. 23

    מִקְנֵהֶםmik/ne/HEMtheir livestockוְקִנְיָנָםve/kin/ya/NAMand their substanceוְכׇל־בְּהֶמְתָּםve/KHOL-be/hem/TAMand all their beastsהֲלוֹאha/LOshall notלָנוּLA/nuoursהֵםhemthey beאַךְakhonlyנֵאוֹתָהne/O/talet us consentלָהֶםla/HEMto themוְיֵשְׁבוּve/yesh/VUand let them dwellאִתָּנוּ׃it/TA/nuwith us

    Shall not their cattle and their substance and every beast of theirs be ours? only let us consent unto them, and they will dwell with us.

24. 24

    וַיִּשְׁמְעוּvay/yish/me/Uand hearkenedאֶל־חֲמוֹרel-Cha/MORto Hamorוְאֶל־שְׁכֶםve/EL-she/KHEMand Shechemבְּנוֹbe/NOhis sonכׇּל־יֹצְאֵיkol-yots/Eall who went out ofשַׁעַרSHA/arthe gate ofעִירוֹi/ROhis cityוַיִּמֹּלוּvay/yim/MO/luand they were circumcisedכׇּל־זָכָרkol-za/KHARevery maleכׇּל־יֹצְאֵיkol-yots/Eall who went out ofשַׁעַרSHA/arthe gate ofעִירוֹ׃i/ROhis city

    And unto Hamor and unto Shechem his son hearkened all that went out of the gate of his city; and every male was circumcised, all that went out of the gate of his city.

25. 25

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבַיּוֹםvay/YOMon the dayהַשְּׁלִישִׁיhash/she/li/SHIthe thirdבִּהְיוֹתָםbih/yo/TAMwhen they wereכֹּאֲבִיםko/a/VIMsoreוַיִּקְחוּvay/yik/CHUand they tookשְׁנֵי־בְנֵי־יַעֲקֹבshe/NE-ve/NE-Ya/a/KOVtwo of the sons of JacobשִׁמְעוֹןShim/ONSimeonוְלֵוִיve/Le/VIand Leviאֲחֵיa/CHEthe brethren ofדִינָהDi/NADinahאִישׁisheach manחַרְבּוֹchar/BOhis swordוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameעַל־הָעִירal-ha/IRupon the cityבֶּטַחBE/tachboldlyוַיַּהַרְגוּvay/ya/har/GUand slewכׇּל־זָכָר׃kol-za/KHARevery male

    And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon the city boldly, and slew all the males.

26. 26

    וְאֶת־חֲמוֹרve/ET-cha/MORand Hamorוְאֶת־שְׁכֶםve/ET-she/KHEMand Shechemבְּנוֹbe/NOhis sonהָרְגוּha/re/GUthey slewלְפִי־חָרֶבle/FI-CHA/revwith the edge of the swordוַיִּקְחוּvay/yik/CHUand they tookאֶת־דִּינָהet-Di/NADinahמִבֵּיתmib/BETfrom the house ofשְׁכֶםShe/KHEMShechemוַיֵּצֵאוּ׃vay/ye/TSE/uand they went out

    And they slew Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem's house, and went out.

27. 27

    בְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobבָּאוּBA/ucameעַל־הַחֲלָלִיםal-ha/cha/la/LIMupon the slainוַיָּבֹזּוּvay/ya/VOZ/zuand spoiledהָעִירha/IRthe cityאֲשֶׁרa/SHERbecauseטִמְּאוּtim/me/Uthey had defiledאֲחוֹתָם׃a/cho/TAMtheir sister

    The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and spoiled the city, because they had defiled their sister.

28. 28

    אֶת־צֹאנָםet-tso/NAMtheir flocksוְאֶת־בְּקָרָםve/ET-be/ka/RAMand their herdsוְאֶת־חֲמֹרֵיהֶםve/ET-cha/mo/re/HEMand their donkeysוְאֵתve/ETandאֲשֶׁר־בָּעִירa/SHER-ba/IRthat was in the cityוְאֶת־אֲשֶׁרve/ET-a/SHERand that which wasבַּשָּׂדֶהbas/sa/DEin the fieldלָקָחוּ׃la/KA/chuthey took

    They took their sheep, and their oxen, and their asses, and that which was in the city, and that which was in the field,

29. 29

    וְאֶת־כׇּל־חֵילָםve/ET-kol-che/LAMand all their wealthוְאֶת־כׇּל־טַפָּםve/ET-kol-tap/PAMand all their little onesוְאֶת־נְשֵׁיהֶםve/ET-ne/she/HEMand their wivesשָׁבוּSHA/vuthey took captiveוַיָּבֹזּוּvay/ya/VOZ/zuand spoiledוְאֵתve/ETandכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרkol-a/SHERall thatבַּבָּיִת׃bab/BA/yitin the house

    And all their wealth, and all their little ones, and their wives took they captive, and spoiled even all that was in the house.

30. 30

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobאֶל־שִׁמְעוֹןel-Shim/ONto Simeonוְאֶל־לֵוִיve/EL-le/VIand Leviעֲכַרְתֶּםa/khar/TEMyou have troubledאֹתִיo/TImeלְהַבְאִישֵׁנִיle/hav/i/SHE/nito make me stinkבְּיֹשֵׁבbe/yo/SHEVamong the inhabitants ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landבַּכְּנַעֲנִיbak/Ke/na/a/NIamong the Canaaniteוּבַפְּרִזִּיu/Vap/pe/riz/ZIand among the Perizziteוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iמְתֵיme/TEmen ofמִסְפָּרmis/PARnumberוְנֶאֶסְפוּve/ne/es/FUand they shall gather themselvesעָלַיa/LAYagainst meוְהִכּוּנִיve/hik/KU/niand smite meוְנִשְׁמַדְתִּיve/nish/mad/TIand I shall be destroyedאֲנִיa/NIIוּבֵיתִי׃u/ve/TIand my house

    And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, Ye have troubled me to make me to stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites: and I being few in number, they shall gather themselves together against me, and slay me; and I shall be destroyed, I and my house.

31. 31

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidהַכְזוֹנָהhakh/zo/NAas with a harlotיַעֲשֶׂהya/a/SEshould he deal withאֶת־אֲחוֹתֵנוּ׃et-a/cho/TE/nuour sister

    And they said, Should he deal with our sister as with an harlot?
