   וַיִּשְׁמַעvay/yish/MAand he heardאֶת־דִּבְרֵיet-div/REthe words ofבְנֵי־לָבָןve/NE-la/VANthe sons of Labanלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingלָקַחla/KACHhas taken awayיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרet-kol-a/SHERall thatלְאָבִינוּle/a/VI/nuour father'sוּמֵאֲשֶׁרu/me/a/SHERand from that whichלְאָבִינוּle/a/VI/nuour father'sעָשָׂהa/SAhe has gottenאֵת־כׇּל־הַכָּבֹדet-kol-hak/ka/VODall the wealthהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

   And he heard the words of Laban's sons, saying, Jacob hath taken away all that was our father's; and of that which was our father's hath he gotten all this glory.

   וַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobאֶת־פְּנֵיet-pe/NEthe countenance ofלָבָןLa/VANLabanוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdאֵינֶנּוּe/NEN/nuit was notעִמּוֹim/MOwith himכִּתְמוֹלkit/MOLas yesterdayשִׁלְשׁוֹם׃shil/SHOMthe day before

   And Jacob beheld the countenance of Laban, and, behold, it was not toward him as before.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־יַעֲקֹבel-Ya/a/KOVto Jacobשׁוּבshuvreturnאֶל־אֶרֶץel-E/retsto the land ofאֲבוֹתֶיךָa/vo/TE/khayour fathersוּלְמוֹלַדְתֶּךָu/le/mo/lad/TE/khaand to your kindredוְאֶהְיֶהve/eh/YEand I will beעִמָּךְ׃im/MAKHwith you

   And the LORD said unto Jacob, Return unto the land of thy fathers, and to thy kindred; and I will be with thee.

   וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledלְרָחֵלLe/ra/CHELRachelוּלְלֵאָהu/Le/le/Aand Leahהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEto the fieldאֶל־צֹאנוֹ׃el-tso/NOto his flock

   And Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field unto his flock,

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָהֶןla/HENto themרֹאֶהro/Eseeאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIאֶת־פְּנֵיet-pe/NEthe countenance ofאֲבִיכֶןa/vi/KHENyour fatherכִּי־אֵינֶנּוּki-e/NEN/nuthat it is notאֵלַיe/LAYto meכִּתְמֹלkit/MOLas yesterdayשִׁלְשֹׁםshil/SHOMthe day beforeוֵאלֹהֵיve/lo/HEand the God ofאָבִיa/VImy fatherהָיָהha/YAhas beenעִמָּדִי׃im/ma/DIwith me

   And said unto them, I see your father's countenance, that it is not toward me as before; but the God of my father hath been with me.

   וְאַתֵּנָהve/at/TE/naand youיְדַעְתֶּןye/da/TENyou knowכִּיkithatבְּכׇל־כֹּחִיbe/KHOL-ko/CHIin all my strengthעָבַדְתִּיa/VAD/tiI have servedאֶת־אֲבִיכֶן׃et-a/vi/KHENyour father

   And ye know that with all my power I have served your father.

   וַאֲבִיכֶןva/a/vi/KHENand your fatherהֵתֶלHE/telhas deceivedבִּיbimeוְהֶחֱלִףve/he/che/LIFand changedאֶת־מַשְׂכֻּרְתִּיet-mas/kur/TImy wagesעֲשֶׂרֶתa/SE/rettenמֹנִיםmo/NIMtimesוְלֹא־נְתָנוֹve/LO-ne/ta/NObut did not suffer himאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodלְהָרַעle/ha/RAto hurtעִמָּדִי׃im/ma/DIwith me

   And your father hath deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God suffered him not to hurt me.

   אִם־כֹּהim-koif thusיֹאמַרyo/MARhe saidנְקֻדִּיםne/kud/DIMspeckled onesיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beשְׂכָרֶךָse/kha/RE/khayour wagesוְיָלְדוּve/ya/le/DUthen boreכׇל־הַצֹּאןkhol-hats/TSONall the flockנְקֻדִּיםne/kud/DIMspeckled onesוְאִם־כֹּהve/IM-koand if thusיֹאמַרyo/MARhe saidעֲקֻדִּיםa/kud/DIMstriped onesיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beשְׂכָרֶךָse/kha/RE/khayour wagesוְיָלְדוּve/ya/le/DUthen boreכׇל־הַצֹּאןkhol-hats/TSONall the flockעֲקֻדִּים׃a/kud/DIMstriped ones

   If he said thus, The speckled shall be thy wages; then all the cattle bare speckled: and if he said thus, The ringstraked shall be thy hire; then bare all the cattle ringstraked.

   וַיַּצֵּלvay/yats/TSELand has taken awayאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶת־מִקְנֵהet-mik/NEthe livestock ofאֲבִיכֶםa/vi/KHEMyour fatherוַיִּתֶּן־לִי׃vay/YIT/ten-liand given them to me

   Thus God hath taken away the cattle of your father, and given them to me.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבְּעֵתbe/ETat the timeיַחֵםya/CHEMthe mating ofהַצֹּאןhats/TSONthe flockוָאֶשָּׂאva/es/SAand I took upעֵינַיe/NAYmy eyesוָאֵרֶאva/E/reand I sawבַּחֲלוֹםba/cha/LOMin a dreamוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdהָעַתֻּדִיםha/at/tu/DIMthe male goatsהָעֹלִיםha/o/LIMthat leapedעַל־הַצֹּאןal-hats/TSONupon the flockעֲקֻדִּיםa/kud/DIMstriped onesנְקֻדִּיםne/kud/DIMspeckled onesוּבְרֻדִּים׃u/ve/rud/DIMand mottled

    And it came to pass at the time that the cattle conceived, that I lifted up mine eyes, and saw in a dream, and, behold, the rams which leaped upon the cattle were ringstraked, speckled, and grisled.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלַיe/LAYto meמַלְאַךְmal/AKHthe angel ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodבַּחֲלוֹםba/cha/LOMin a dreamיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobוָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidהִנֵּנִי׃hin/NE/nihere am I

    And the angel of God spake unto me in a dream, saying, Jacob: And I said, Here am I.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשָׂא־נָאsa-nalift up I prayעֵינֶיךָe/NE/khayour eyesוּרְאֵהu/re/Eand beholdכׇּל־הָעַתֻּדִיםkol-ha/at/tu/DIMall the male goatsהָעֹלִיםha/o/LIMthat leapעַל־הַצֹּאןal-hats/TSONupon the flockעֲקֻדִּיםa/kud/DIMstriped onesנְקֻדִּיםne/kud/DIMspeckled onesוּבְרֻדִּיםu/ve/rud/DIMand mottledכִּיkiforרָאִיתִיra/I/tiI sawאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרet-kol-a/SHERall thatלָבָןLa/VANLabanעֹשֶׂהo/SEdoesלָּךְ׃lakhto you

    And he said, Lift up now thine eyes, and see, all the rams which leap upon the cattle are ringstraked, speckled, and grisled: for I have seen all that Laban doeth unto thee.

    I am the God of Beth-el, where thou anointedst the pillar, and where thou vowedst a vow unto me: now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy kindred.

    וַתַּעַןvat/TA/anand she answeredרָחֵלRa/CHELRachelוְלֵאָהve/Le/Aand Leahוַתֹּאמַרְנָהvat/to/MAR/naand they saidלוֹloto himהַעוֹדha/ODis there yetלָנוּLA/nufor usחֵלֶקCHE/lekportionוְנַחֲלָהve/na/cha/LAand inheritanceבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofאָבִינוּ׃a/VI/nuour father

    And Rachel and Leah answered and said unto him, Is there yet any portion or inheritance for us in our father's house?

15. 15

    הֲלוֹאha/LOis it notנׇכְרִיּוֹתnokh/riy/YOTstrangersנֶחְשַׁבְנוּnech/SHAV/nuare we accountedלוֹloby himכִּיkiforמְכָרָנוּme/kha/RA/nuhe has sold usוַיֹּאכַלvay/YO/khaland has devouredגַּם־אָכוֹלgam-a/KHOLalso devourאֶת־כַּסְפֵּנוּ׃et-kas/PE/nuour silver

    Are we not counted of him strangers? for he hath sold us, and hath quite devoured also our money.

16. 16

    כִּיkiforכׇל־הָעֹשֶׁרkhol-ha/O/sherall the richesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהִצִּילhits/TSILhas takenאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodמֵאָבִינוּme/a/VI/nufrom our fatherלָנוּLA/nuoursהוּאhuit isוּלְבָנֵינוּu/le/va/NE/nuand our children'sוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowכֹּלkolallאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאָמַרa/MARsaidאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youעֲשֵׂה׃a/SEdo

    For all the riches which God hath taken from our father, that is ours, and our children's: now then, whatsoever God hath said unto thee, do.

17. 17

    וַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand rose upיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobוַיִּשָּׂאvay/yis/SAand setאֶת־בָּנָיוet-ba/NAYVhis sonsוְאֶת־נָשָׁיוve/ET-na/SHAYVand his wivesעַל־הַגְּמַלִּים׃al-hag/ge/mal/LIMupon the camels

    Then Jacob rose up, and set his sons and his wives upon camels;

18. 18

    וַיִּנְהַגvay/yin/HAGand he droveאֶת־כׇּל־מִקְנֵהוּet-kol-mik/NE/huall his livestockוְאֶת־כׇּל־רְכֻשׁוֹve/ET-kol-re/khu/SHOand all his goodsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichרָכָשׁra/KHASHhe had gottenמִקְנֵהmik/NEthe livestock ofקִנְיָנוֹkin/ya/NOhis gettingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichרָכַשׁra/KHASHhe had gottenבְּפַדַּןbe/Fad/DANin Padan-אֲרָםa/RAMaramלָבוֹאla/VOto comeאֶל־יִצְחָקel-Yits/CHAKto Isaacאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherאַרְצָהAR/tsato the land ofכְּנָעַן׃Ke/NA/anCanaan

    And he carried away all his cattle, and all his goods which he had gotten, the cattle of his getting, which he had gotten in Padan-aram, for to go to Isaac his father in the land of Canaan.

19. 19

    וְלָבָןve/La/VANand Labanהָלַךְha/LAKHhad goneלִגְזֹזlig/ZOZto shearאֶת־צֹאנוֹet-tso/NOhis sheepוַתִּגְנֹבvat/tig/NOVand stoleרָחֵלRa/CHELRachelאֶת־הַתְּרָפִיםet-hat/te/ra/FIMthe teraphimאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלְאָבִיהָ׃le/a/VI/haher father's

    And Laban went to shear his sheep: and Rachel had stolen the images that were her father's.

20. 20

    וַיִּגְנֹבvay/yig/NOVand stoleיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobאֶת־לֵבet-levthe heart ofלָבָןLa/VANLabanהָאֲרַמִּיha/A/ram/MIthe Syrianעַל־בְּלִיal-be/LIin that notהִגִּידhig/GIDhe toldלוֹlohimכִּיkithatבֹרֵחַvo/RE/achfledהוּא׃huhe

    And Jacob stole away unawares to Laban the Syrian, in that he told him not that he fled.

21. 21

    וַיִּבְרַחvay/yiv/RACHand he fledהוּאhuheוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁר־לוֹve/KHOL-a/SHER-loand all that he hadוַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand rose upוַיַּעֲבֹרvay/ya/a/VORand crossedאֶת־הַנָּהָרet-han/na/HARthe riverוַיָּשֶׂםvay/YA/semand setאֶת־פָּנָיוet-pa/NAYVhis faceהַרhartoward the mount ofהַגִּלְעָד׃Hag/gil/ADGilead

    So he fled with all that he had; and he rose up, and passed over the river, and set his face toward the mount Gilead.

22. 22

    וַיֻּגַּדvay/yug/GADand it was toldלְלָבָןle/La/VANto Labanבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMin the dayהַשְּׁלִישִׁיhash/she/li/SHIthe thirdכִּיkithatבָרַחva/RACHhe had fledיַעֲקֹב׃Ya/a/KOVJacob

    And it was told Laban on the third day that Jacob was fled.

23. 23

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֶת־אֶחָיוet-e/CHAYVhis brethrenעִמּוֹim/MOwith himוַיִּרְדֹּףvay/yir/DOFand pursuedאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himדֶּרֶךְDE/rekha journey ofשִׁבְעַתshiv/ATsevenיָמִיםya/MIMdaysוַיַּדְבֵּקvay/yad/BEKand he overtookאֹתוֹo/TOhimבְּהַרbe/HARin the mount ofהַגִּלְעָד׃Hag/gil/ADGilead

    And he took his brethren with him, and pursued after him seven days' journey; and they overtook him in the mount Gilead.

24. 24

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶל־לָבָןel-La/VANto Labanהָאֲרַמִּיha/A/ram/MIthe Syrianבַּחֲלֹםba/cha/LOMin a dreamהַלָּיְלָהhal/LAY/laby nightוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלוֹloto himהִשָּׁמֶרhish/SHA/mertake heedלְךָle/KHAto yourselfפֶּן־תְּדַבֵּרpen-te/dab/BERlest you speakעִם־יַעֲקֹבim-Ya/a/KOVwith Jacobמִטּוֹבmit/TOVfrom goodעַד־רָע׃ad-rato evil

    And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said unto him, Take heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.

25. 25

    וַיַּשֵּׂגvay/yas/SEGand overtookלָבָןLa/VANLabanאֶת־יַעֲקֹבet-Ya/a/KOVJacobוְיַעֲקֹבve/Ya/a/KOVand Jacobתָּקַעta/KAhad pitchedאֶת־אׇהֳלוֹet-o/ho/LOhis tentבָּהָרba/HARin the mountוְלָבָןve/La/VANand Labanתָּקַעta/KAhad pitchedאֶת־אֶחָיוet-e/CHAYVhis brethrenבְּהַרbe/HARin the mount ofהַגִּלְעָד׃Hag/gil/ADGilead

    Then Laban overtook Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mount: and Laban with his brethren pitched in the mount of Gilead.

26. 26

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָבָןLa/VANLabanלְיַעֲקֹבle/Ya/a/KOVto Jacobמֶהmewhatעָשִׂיתָa/SI/tahave you doneוַתִּגְנֹבvat/tig/NOVand you have stolenאֶת־לְבָבִיet-le/va/VImy heartוַתְּנַהֵגvat/te/na/HEGand you have carried awayאֶת־בְּנֹתַיet-be/no/TAYmy daughtersכִּשְׁבֻיוֹתkish/vu/YOTas captives ofחָרֶב׃CHA/revthe sword

    And Laban said to Jacob, What hast thou done, that thou hast stolen away unawares to me, and carried away my daughters, as captives taken with the sword?

27. 27

    לָמָּהLAM/mawhyנַחְבֵּאתָnach/BE/tadid you hide yourselfלִבְרֹחַliv/RO/achto fleeוַתִּגְנֹבvat/tig/NOVand stole away fromאֹתִיo/TImeוְלֹא־הִגַּדְתָּve/LO-hig/GAD/taand did not tellלִּיlimeוָאֲשַׁלֵּחֲךָva/a/shal/le/cha/KHAthat I might have sent you awayבְּשִׂמְחָהbe/sim/CHAwith joyוּבְשִׁרִיםu/ve/shi/RIMand with songsבְּתֹףbe/TOFwith tambourineוּבְכִנּוֹר׃u/ve/khin/NORand with harp

    Wherefore didst thou flee away secretly, and steal away from me; and didst not tell me, that I might have sent thee away with mirth, and with songs, with tabret, and with harp?

28. 28

    וְלֹאve/LOand notנְטַשְׁתַּנִיne/tash/TA/nihave you suffered meלְנַשֵּׁקle/nash/SHEKto kissלְבָנַיle/va/NAYmy sonsוְלִבְנֹתָיve/liv/no/TAYand my daughtersעַתָּהat/TAnowהִסְכַּלְתָּhis/KAL/tayou have behaved foolishlyעֲשׂוֹ׃a/SOin so doing

    And hast not suffered me to kiss my sons and my daughters? thou hast now done foolishly in so doing.

29. 29

    יֶשׁ־לְאֵלyesh-le/ELit is in the power ofיָדִיya/DImy handלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doעִמָּכֶםim/ma/KHEMto youרָעraevilוֵאלֹהֵיve/lo/HEand the God ofאֲבִיכֶםa/vi/KHEMyour fatherאֶמֶשׁE/meshlast nightאָמַרa/MARsaidאֵלַיe/LAYto meלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהִשָּׁמֶרhish/SHA/mertake heedלְךָle/KHAto yourselfמִדַּבֵּרmid/dab/BERthat you speak notעִם־יַעֲקֹבim-Ya/a/KOVwith Jacobמִטּוֹבmit/TOVfrom goodעַד־רָע׃ad-rato evil

    It is in the power of my hand to do you hurt: but the God of your father spake unto me yesternight, saying, Take thou heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.

30. 30

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהָלֹךְha/LOKHgoהָלַכְתָּha/LAKH/tayou have goneכִּי־נִכְסֹףki-nikh/SOFbecause longנִכְסַפְתָּהnikh/SAF/tayou longedלְבֵיתle/VETto the house ofאָבִיךָa/VI/khayour fatherלָמָּהLAM/mawhyגָנַבְתָּga/NAV/tadid you stealאֶת־אֱלֹהָי׃et-e/lo/HAYmy gods

    And now, though thou wouldest needs be gone, because thou sore longedst after thy father's house, yet wherefore hast thou stolen my gods?

31. 31

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלְלָבָןle/La/VANto Labanכִּיkibecauseיָרֵאתִיya/RE/tiI was afraidכִּיkiforאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tiI saidפֶּן־תִּגְזֹלpen-tig/ZOLlest you would take by forceאֶת־בְּנוֹתֶיךָet-be/no/TE/khayour daughtersמֵעִמִּי׃me/im/MIfrom me

    And Jacob answered and said to Laban, Because I was afraid: for I said, Peradventure thou wouldest take by force thy daughters from me.

32. 32

    עִםimwithאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomeverתִּמְצָאtim/TSAyou findאֶת־אֱלֹהֶיךָet-e/lo/HE/khayour godsלֹאlonotיִחְיֶהyich/YElet him liveנֶגֶדNE/gedbeforeאַחֵינוּa/CHE/nuour brethrenהַכֶּר־לְךָhak/KER-le/KHAdiscern for yourselfמָהmawhatעִמָּדִיim/ma/DIwith meוְקַח־לָךְve/KACH-lakhand take it for yourselfוְלֹא־יָדַעve/LO-ya/DAand did not knowיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobכִּיkithatרָחֵלRa/CHELRachelגְּנָבָתַם׃ge/na/VA/tamhad stolen them

    With whomsoever thou findest thy gods, let him not live: before our brethren discern thou what is thine with me, and take it to thee. For Jacob knew not that Rachel had stolen them.

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand wentלָבָןLa/VANLabanבְּאֹהֶלbe/O/helinto the tent ofיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobוּבְאֹהֶלu/ve/O/heland into the tent ofלֵאָהLe/ALeahוּבְאֹהֶלu/ve/O/heland into the tent ofשְׁתֵּיshtethe twoהָאֲמָהֹתha/a/ma/HOTmaidsוְלֹאve/LOand notמָצָאma/TSAfoundוַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outמֵאֹהֶלme/O/helfrom the tent ofלֵאָהLe/ALeahוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand wentבְּאֹהֶלbe/O/helinto the tent ofרָחֵל׃Ra/CHELRachel

    And Laban went into Jacob's tent, and into Leah's tent, and into the two maidservants' tents; but he found them not. Then went he out of Leah's tent, and entered into Rachel's tent.

34. 34

    וְרָחֵלve/Ra/CHELand Rachelלָקְחָהla/ke/CHAhad takenאֶת־הַתְּרָפִיםet-hat/te/ra/FIMthe teraphimוַתְּשִׂמֵםvat/te/si/MEMand she had put themבְּכַרbe/KHARin the saddle ofהַגָּמָלhag/ga/MALthe camelוַתֵּשֶׁבvat/TE/shevand she satעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMupon themוַיְמַשֵּׁשׁvay/mash/SHESHand he searchedלָבָןLa/VANLabanאֶת־כׇּל־הָאֹהֶלet-kol-ha/O/helall the tentוְלֹאve/LOand notמָצָא׃ma/TSAfound

    Now Rachel had taken the images, and put them in the camel's furniture, and sat upon them. And Laban searched all the tent, but found them not.

    And she said to her father, Let it not displease my lord that I cannot rise up before thee; for the custom of women is upon me. And he searched, but found not the images.

36. 36

    וַיִּחַרvay/YI/charand was angryלְיַעֲקֹבLe/ya/a/KOVJacobוַיָּרֶבvay/YA/revand he contendedבְּלָבָןbe/La/VANwith Labanוַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלְלָבָןle/La/VANto Labanמַה־פִּשְׁעִיma-pish/Iwhat is my trespassמַהmawhatחַטָּאתִיchat/ta/TIis my sinכִּיkithatדָלַקְתָּda/LAK/tayou have hotly pursuedאַחֲרָי׃a/cha/RAYafter me

    And Jacob was wroth, and chode with Laban: and Jacob answered and said to Laban, What is my trespass? what is my sin, that thou hast so hotly pursued after me?

37. 37

    כִּי־מִשַּׁשְׁתָּki-mish/SHASH/tathat you have searchedאֶת־כׇּל־כֵּלַיet-kol-ke/LAYall my stuffמַה־מָּצָאתָma-ma/TSA/tawhat have you foundמִכֹּלmik/KOLof allכְּלֵי־בֵיתֶךָke/LE-ve/TE/khathe stuff of your houseשִׂיםsimset itכֹּהkohereנֶגֶדNE/gedbeforeאַחַיa/CHAYmy brethrenוְאַחֶיךָve/a/CHE/khaand your brethrenוְיוֹכִיחוּve/yo/KHI/chuthat they may judgeבֵּיןbenbetweenשְׁנֵינוּ׃she/NE/nuthe two of us

    Whereas thou hast searched all my stuff, what hast thou found of all thy household stuff? set it here before my brethren and thy brethren, that they may judge betwixt us both.

38. 38

    זֶהzethisעֶשְׂרִיםes/RIMtwentyשָׁנָהsha/NAyearsאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIעִמָּךְim/MAKHwith youרְחֵלֶיךָre/che/LE/khayour ewesוְעִזֶּיךָve/iz/ZE/khaand your she-goatsלֹאlonotשִׁכֵּלוּshik/KE/luhave cast their youngוְאֵילֵיve/e/LEand the rams ofצֹאנְךָtso/ne/KHAyour flockלֹאlonotאָכָלְתִּי׃a/KHAL/tiI have eaten

    This twenty years have I been with thee; thy ewes and thy she goats have not cast their young, and the rams of thy flock have I not eaten.

39. 39

    טְרֵפָהte/re/FAa torn animalלֹא־הֵבֵאתִיlo-he/VE/tiI did not bringאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIאֲחַטֶּנָּהa/chat/TEN/naI bore the loss of itמִיָּדִיmiy/ya/DIof my handתְּבַקְשֶׁנָּהte/vak/SHEN/nayou required itגְּנֻבְתִיge/nuv/TIone stolen ofיוֹםyomdayוּגְנֻבְתִיu/ge/nuv/TIand one stolen ofלָיְלָה׃LAY/lanight

    That which was torn of beasts I brought not unto thee; I bare the loss of it; of my hand didst thou require it, whether stolen by day, or stolen by night.

40. 40

    הָיִיתִיha/YI/tiI wasבַיּוֹםvay/YOMby dayאֲכָלַנִיa/kha/LA/niconsumed meחֹרֶבCHO/revthe droughtוְקֶרַחve/KE/rachand the frostבַּלָּיְלָהbal/LAY/laby nightוַתִּדַּדvat/tid/DADand departedשְׁנָתִיshe/na/TImy sleepמֵעֵינָי׃me/e/NAYfrom my eyes

    Thus I was; in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep departed from mine eyes.

41. 41

    זֶה־לִּיze-lithis to meעֶשְׂרִיםes/RIMtwentyשָׁנָהsha/NAyearsבְּבֵיתֶךָbe/ve/TE/khain your houseעֲבַדְתִּיךָa/vad/TI/khaI have served youאַרְבַּע־עֶשְׂרֵהar/BA-es/REfourteenשָׁנָהsha/NAyearsבִּשְׁתֵּיbish/TEfor twoבְנֹתֶיךָve/no/TE/khayour daughtersוְשֵׁשׁve/SHESHand sixשָׁנִיםsha/NIMyearsבְּצֹאנֶךָbe/tso/NE/khafor your flockוַתַּחֲלֵףvat/ta/cha/LEFand you have changedאֶת־מַשְׂכֻּרְתִּיet-mas/kur/TImy wagesעֲשֶׂרֶתa/SE/rettenמֹנִים׃mo/NIMtimes

    Thus have I been twenty years in thy house; I served thee fourteen years for thy two daughters, and six years for thy cattle: and thou hast changed my wages ten times.

42. 42

    לוּלֵיlu/LEexceptאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofאָבִיa/VImy fatherאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamוּפַחַדu/FA/chadand the Fear ofיִצְחָקYits/CHAKIsaacהָיָהha/YAhad beenלִיliwith meכִּיkisurelyעַתָּהat/TAnowרֵיקָםre/KAMemptyשִׁלַּחְתָּנִיshil/lach/TA/niyou had sent me awayאֶת־עׇנְיִיet-on/YImy afflictionוְאֶת־יְגִיעַve/ET-ye/GI/aand the labor ofכַּפַּיkap/PAYmy handsרָאָהra/Ahas seenאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוַיּוֹכַחvay/YO/khachand rebukedאָמֶשׁ׃A/meshlast night

    Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely thou hadst sent me away now empty. God hath seen mine affliction and the labour of my hands, and rebuked thee yesternight.

43. 43

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredלָבָןLa/VANLabanוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶל־יַעֲקֹבel-Ya/a/KOVto Jacobהַבָּנוֹתhab/ba/NOTthe daughtersבְּנֹתַיbe/no/TAYmy daughtersוְהַבָּנִיםve/hab/ba/NIMand the sonsבָּנַיba/NAYmy sonsוְהַצֹּאןve/hats/TSONand the flockצֹאנִיtso/NImy flockוְכֹלve/KHOLand allאֲשֶׁר־אַתָּהa/SHER-at/TAwhich youרֹאֶהro/Eseeלִי־הוּאli-huis mineוְלִבְנֹתַיve/liv/no/TAYand to my daughtersמָה־אֶעֱשֶׂהma-e/e/SEwhat shall I doלָאֵלֶּהla/EL/leto theseהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthis dayאוֹoorלִבְנֵיהֶןliv/ne/HENto their childrenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichיָלָדוּ׃ya/LA/duthey have borne

    And Laban answered and said unto Jacob, These daughters are my daughters, and these children are my children, and these cattle are my cattle, and all that thou seest is mine: and what can I do this day unto these my daughters, or unto their children which they have born?

44. 44

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowלְכָהle/KHAcomeנִכְרְתָהnikh/re/TAlet us makeבְרִיתve/RITa covenantאֲנִיa/NIIוָאָתָּהva/AT/taand youוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand let it beלְעֵדle/EDfor a witnessבֵּינִיbe/NIbetween meוּבֵינֶךָ׃u/ve/NE/khaand between you

    Now therefore come thou, let us make a covenant, I and thou; and let it be for a witness between me and thee.

45. 45

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobאָבֶןA/vena stoneוַיְרִימֶהָvay/ri/ME/haand set it upמַצֵּבָה׃mats/tse/VAfor a pillar

    And Jacob took a stone, and set it up for a pillar.

46. 46

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobלְאֶחָיוle/e/CHAYVto his brethrenלִקְטוּlik/TUgatherאֲבָנִיםa/va/NIMstonesוַיִּקְחוּvay/yik/CHUand they tookאֲבָנִיםa/va/NIMstonesוַיַּעֲשׂוּ־גָלvay/ya/a/SU-galand they made a heapוַיֹּאכְלוּvay/yo/khe/LUand they ateשָׁםshamthereעַל־הַגָּל׃al-hag/GALupon the heap

    And Jacob said unto his brethren, Gather stones; and they took stones, and made an heap: and they did eat there upon the heap.

47. 47

    וַיִּקְרָא־לוֹvay/yik/RA-loand called itלָבָןLa/VANLabanיְגַרYe/GARJegarשָׂהֲדוּתָאSa/ha/du/TASahaduthaוְיַעֲקֹבve/Ya/a/KOVand Jacobקָרָאka/RAcalledלוֹloitגַּלְעֵד׃Gal/EDGaleed

    And Laban called it Jegar-sahadutha: but Jacob called it Galeed.

48. 48

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָבָןLa/VANLabanהַגַּלhag/GALthe heapהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisעֵדedis a witnessבֵּינִיbe/NIbetween meוּבֵינְךָu/ve/ne/KHAand between youהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthis dayעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeקָרָא־שְׁמוֹka/RA-she/MOwas its name calledגַּלְעֵד׃Gal/EDGaleed

    And Laban said, This heap is a witness between me and thee this day. Therefore was the name of it called Galeed;

49. 49

    וְהַמִּצְפָּהve/ham/Mits/PAand Mizpahאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאָמַרa/MARsaidיִצֶףYI/tsefwatchיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבֵּינִיbe/NIbetween meוּבֵינֶךָu/ve/NE/khaand between youכִּיkiforנִסָּתֵרnis/sa/TERwe are hiddenאִישׁisheachמֵרֵעֵהוּ׃me/re/E/hufrom his neighbor

    And Mizpah; for he said, The LORD watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another.

50. 50

    אִם־תְּעַנֶּהim-te/an/NEif you shall afflictאֶת־בְּנֹתַיet-be/no/TAYmy daughtersוְאִם־תִּקַּחve/IM-tik/KACHor if you shall takeנָשִׁיםna/SHIMwivesעַל־בְּנֹתַיal-be/no/TAYbesides my daughtersאֵיןenthere is noאִישׁishmanעִמָּנוּim/MA/nuwith usרְאֵהre/Ebeholdאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodעֵדedis witnessבֵּינִיbe/NIbetween meוּבֵינֶךָ׃u/ve/NE/khaand between you

    If thou shalt afflict my daughters, or if thou shalt take other wives beside my daughters, no man is with us; see, God is witness betwixt me and thee.

51. 51

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָבָןLa/VANLabanלְיַעֲקֹבle/Ya/a/KOVto Jacobהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהַגַּלhag/GALthe heapהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdהַמַּצֵּבָהham/mats/tse/VAthe pillarאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichיָרִיתִיya/RI/tiI have castבֵּינִיbe/NIbetween meוּבֵינֶךָ׃u/ve/NE/khaand between you

    And Laban said to Jacob, Behold this heap, and behold this pillar, which I have cast betwixt me and thee;

52. 52

    עֵדedbe witnessהַגַּלhag/GALthe heapהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוְעֵדָהve/e/DAand witness beהַמַּצֵּבָהham/mats/tse/VAthe pillarאִם־אָנִיim-A/nithat Iלֹא־אֶעֱבֹרlo-e/e/VORwill not pass overאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youאֶת־הַגַּלet-hag/GALthe heapהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוְאִם־אַתָּהve/IM-at/TAand that youלֹא־תַעֲבֹרlo-ta/a/VORshall not pass overאֵלַיe/LAYto meאֶת־הַגַּלet-hag/GALthe heapהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוְאֶת־הַמַּצֵּבָהve/ET-ham/mats/tse/VAand the pillarהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisלְרָעָה׃le/ra/Afor harm

    This heap be witness, and this pillar be witness, that I will not pass over this heap to thee, and that thou shalt not pass over this heap and this pillar unto me, for harm.

53. 53

    אֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamוֵאלֹהֵיve/lo/HEand the God ofנָחוֹרNa/CHORNahorיִשְׁפְּטוּyish/pe/TUjudgeבֵינֵינוּve/NE/nubetween usאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofאֲבִיהֶםa/vi/HEMtheir fatherוַיִּשָּׁבַעvay/yish/sha/VAand sworeיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobבְּפַחַדbe/FA/chadby the Fear ofאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherיִצְחָק׃Yits/CHAKIsaac

    The God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge betwixt us. And Jacob sware by the fear of his father Isaac.

54. 54

    וַיִּזְבַּחvay/yiz/BACHand he sacrificedיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobזֶבַחZE/vacha sacrificeבָּהָרba/HARon the mountוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledלְאֶחָיוle/e/CHAYVto his brethrenלֶאֱכׇל־לָחֶםle/e/KHOL-LA/chemto eat breadוַיֹּאכְלוּvay/yo/khe/LUand they ateלֶחֶםLE/chembreadוַיָּלִינוּvay/ya/LI/nuand they tarried all nightבָּהָר׃ba/HARon the mount

    Then Jacob offered sacrifice upon the mount, and called his brethren to eat bread: and they did eat bread, and tarried all night in the mount.
