1. 1

   וַיִּשְׁמַעand he heardאֶת־דִּבְרֵיthe words ofבְנֵי־לָבָןsons of LabanלֵאמֹרsayingלָקַחtookיַעֲקֹבJacobאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרall thatלְאָבִינוּour father'sוּמֵאֲשֶׁרand from that whichלְאָבִינוּour father'sעָשָׂהhe has gottenאֵת־כׇּל־הַכָּבֹדall this wealthהַזֶּה׃this

   And he heard the words of Laban's sons, saying, Jacob hath taken away all that was our father's; and of that which was our father's hath he gotten all this glory.

2. 2

   וַיַּרְאand sawיַעֲקֹבJacobאֶת־פְּנֵיface ofלָבָןLabanוְהִנֵּהand beholdאֵינֶנּוּit is notעִמּוֹwith himכִּתְמוֹלas yesterdayשִׁלְשׁוֹם׃the day before

   And Jacob beheld the countenance of Laban, and, behold, it was not toward him as before.

   וַיֹּאמֶרand saidיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶל־יַעֲקֹבto Jacobשׁוּבreturnאֶל־אֶרֶץto the land ofאֲבוֹתֶיךָyour fathersוּלְמוֹלַדְתֶּךָand to your kindredוְאֶהְיֶהso I may beעִמָּךְ׃with you

   And the LORD said unto Jacob, Return unto the land of thy fathers, and to thy kindred; and I will be with thee.

4. 4

   וַיִּשְׁלַחand sentיַעֲקֹבJacobוַיִּקְרָאand calledלְרָחֵלRachelוּלְלֵאָהand Leahהַשָּׂדֶהthe fieldאֶל־צֹאנוֹ׃to his flock

   And Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field unto his flock,

   וַיֹּאמֶרand saidלָהֶןto themרֹאֶהseeאָנֹכִיIאֶת־פְּנֵיface ofאֲבִיכֶןyour fatherכִּי־אֵינֶנּוּbecause it is notאֵלַיto meכִּתְמֹלas yesterdayשִׁלְשֹׁםthe day beforeוֵאלֹהֵיand God ofאָבִיmy fatherהָיָהwasעִמָּדִי׃with me

   And said unto them, I see your father's countenance, that it is not toward me as before; but the God of my father hath been with me.

6. 6

   וְאַתֵּנָהand youיְדַעְתֶּןyou knowכִּיthatבְּכׇל־כֹּחִיin all my strengthעָבַדְתִּיdid I workאֶת־אֲבִיכֶן׃your father

   And ye know that with all my power I have served your father.

7. 7

   וַאֲבִיכֶןand your fatherהֵתֶלhe has deceivedבִּיmeוְהֶחֱלִףand he has changedאֶת־מַשְׂכֻּרְתִּיmy wagesעֲשֶׂרֶתtenמֹנִיםtimesוְלֹא־נְתָנוֹand did not allow himאֱלֹהִיםGodלְהָרַעto injureעִמָּדִי׃with me

   And your father hath deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God suffered him not to hurt me.

8. 8

   אִם־כֹּהif thusיֹאמַרhe saidנְקֻדִּיםspeckled onesיִהְיֶהshall beשְׂכָרֶךָyour wagesוְיָלְדוּthen boreכׇל־הַצֹּאןall the flockנְקֻדִּיםspeckled onesוְאִם־כֹּהand if thusיֹאמַרhe saidעֲקֻדִּיםstriped onesיִהְיֶהshall beשְׂכָרֶךָyour wagesוְיָלְדוּthen boreכׇל־הַצֹּאןall the flockעֲקֻדִּים׃striped ones

   If he said thus, The speckled shall be thy wages; then all the cattle bare speckled: and if he said thus, The ringstraked shall be thy hire; then bare all the cattle ringstraked.

   וַיַּצֵּלand has taken awayאֱלֹהִיםGodאֶת־מִקְנֵהthe livestock ofאֲבִיכֶםyour fatherוַיִּתֶּן־לִי׃and gave unto me

   Thus God hath taken away the cattle of your father, and given them to me.

10. 10

    וַיְהִיand it came to passבְּעֵתin timeיַחֵםthe being in heat ofהַצֹּאןthe flockוָאֶשָּׂאand I took upעֵינַיmy eyesוָאֵרֶאand I sawבַּחֲלוֹםin a dreamוְהִנֵּהand beholdהָעַתֻּדִיםthe male goatsהָעֹלִיםthat were mountingעַל־הַצֹּאןupon the flockעֲקֻדִּיםstriped onesנְקֻדִּיםspeckled onesוּבְרֻדִּים׃and mottled

    And it came to pass at the time that the cattle conceived, that I lifted up mine eyes, and saw in a dream, and, behold, the rams which leaped upon the cattle were ringstraked, speckled, and grisled.

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֵלַיto meמַלְאַךְangel ofהָאֱלֹהִיםthe Godבַּחֲלוֹםin a dreamיַעֲקֹבJacobוָאֹמַרand I saidהִנֵּנִי׃here am I

    And the angel of God spake unto me in a dream, saying, Jacob: And I said, Here am I.

12. 12

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidשָׂא־נָאlift up I prayעֵינֶיךָyour eyesוּרְאֵהand beholdכׇּל־הָעַתֻּדִיםall the male goatsהָעֹלִיםthat were mountingעַל־הַצֹּאןupon the flockעֲקֻדִּיםstriped onesנְקֻדִּיםspeckled onesוּבְרֻדִּיםand mottledכִּיforרָאִיתִיI sawאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרall thatלָבָןLabanעֹשֶׂהdoלָּךְ׃to you

    And he said, Lift up now thine eyes, and see, all the rams which leap upon the cattle are ringstraked, speckled, and grisled: for I have seen all that Laban doeth unto thee.

13. 13

    אָנֹכִיIהָאֵלthe God ofבֵּית־אֵלBeth-elאֲשֶׁרwhichמָשַׁחְתָּyou anointedשָּׁםthereמַצֵּבָהa pillarאֲשֶׁרwhichנָדַרְתָּyou vowedלִּיto meשָׁםthereנֶדֶרa vowעַתָּהnowקוּםariseצֵאgo forthמִן־הָאָרֶץfrom the landהַזֹּאתthisוְשׁוּבand returnאֶל־אֶרֶץto the land ofמוֹלַדְתֶּךָ׃your kindred

    I am the God of Beth-el, where thou anointedst the pillar, and where thou vowedst a vow unto me: now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy kindred.

14. 14

    וַתַּעַןand she answeredרָחֵלRachelוְלֵאָהand Leahוַתֹּאמַרְנָהand they saidלוֹto himהַעוֹדis there yetלָנוּfor usחֵלֶקpartוְנַחֲלָהand inheritanceבְּבֵיתin the house ofאָבִינוּ׃our father

    And Rachel and Leah answered and said unto him, Is there yet any portion or inheritance for us in our father's house?

15. 15

    הֲלוֹאis it notנׇכְרִיּוֹתas strangersנֶחְשַׁבְנוּare we accountedלוֹby himכִּיforמְכָרָנוּhe has sold usוַיֹּאכַלand has devouredגַּם־אָכוֹלalso utterlyאֶת־כַּסְפֵּנוּ׃our silver

    Are we not counted of him strangers? for he hath sold us, and hath quite devoured also our money.

16. 16

    כִּיforכׇל־הָעֹשֶׁרall the richesאֲשֶׁרwhichהִצִּילdeliveredאֱלֹהִיםGodמֵאָבִינוּfrom our fatherלָנוּto usהוּאisוּלְבָנֵינוּand our sons'וְעַתָּהand nowכֹּלallאֲשֶׁרwhichאָמַרsaidאֱלֹהִיםGodאֵלֶיךָto youעֲשֵׂה׃do

    For all the riches which God hath taken from our father, that is ours, and our children's: now then, whatsoever God hath said unto thee, do.

17. 17

    וַיָּקׇםand rose upיַעֲקֹבJacobוַיִּשָּׂאand setאֶת־בָּנָיוhis sonsוְאֶת־נָשָׁיוand his wivesעַל־הַגְּמַלִּים׃upon the camels

    Then Jacob rose up, and set his sons and his wives upon camels;

18. 18

    וַיִּנְהַגand he droveאֶת־כׇּל־מִקְנֵהוּall his livestockוְאֶת־כׇּל־רְכֻשׁוֹand all his goodsאֲשֶׁרwhichרָכָשׁhe had accumulatedמִקְנֵהthe livestock ofקִנְיָנוֹhis acquiringאֲשֶׁרwhichרָכַשׁhe had accumulatedבְּפַדַּןin Padan-אֲרָםaramלָבוֹאto comeאֶל־יִצְחָקto Isaacאָבִיוhis fatherאַרְצָהto the earthכְּנָעַן׃Canaan

    And he carried away all his cattle, and all his goods which he had gotten, the cattle of his getting, which he had gotten in Padan-aram, for to go to Isaac his father in the land of Canaan.

19. 19

    וְלָבָןand Labanהָלַךְwentלִגְזֹזto shearאֶת־צֹאנוֹhis sheepוַתִּגְנֹבand she stoleרָחֵלRachelאֶת־הַתְּרָפִיםthe teraphimאֲשֶׁרwhichלְאָבִיהָ׃her father's

    And Laban went to shear his sheep: and Rachel had stolen the images that were her father's.

20. 20

    וַיִּגְנֹבand stoleיַעֲקֹבJacobאֶת־לֵבthe heart ofלָבָןLabanהָאֲרַמִּיthe Syrianעַל־בְּלִיin that notהִגִּידhe toldלוֹto himכִּיthatבֹרֵחַwas fleeingהוּא׃he

    And Jacob stole away unawares to Laban the Syrian, in that he told him not that he fled.

21. 21

    וַיִּבְרַחand he fledהוּאheוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁר־לוֹand all whose himוַיָּקׇםand rose upוַיַּעֲבֹרand crossedאֶת־הַנָּהָרthe riverוַיָּשֶׂםand setאֶת־פָּנָיוhis faceהַרtoward the mountain ofהַגִּלְעָד׃Gilead

    So he fled with all that he had; and he rose up, and passed over the river, and set his face toward the mount Gilead.

22. 22

    וַיֻּגַּדand it was toldלְלָבָןto Labanבַּיּוֹםin the dayהַשְּׁלִישִׁיthe thirdכִּיthatבָרַחhe had fledיַעֲקֹב׃Jacob

    And it was told Laban on the third day that Jacob was fled.

23. 23

    וַיִּקַּחand tookאֶת־אֶחָיוhis brethrenעִמּוֹwith himוַיִּרְדֹּףand pursuedאַחֲרָיוafter himדֶּרֶךְa journey ofשִׁבְעַתsevenיָמִיםdaysוַיַּדְבֵּקand he overtookאֹתוֹhimבְּהַרin the mount ofהַגִּלְעָד׃Gilead

    And he took his brethren with him, and pursued after him seven days' journey; and they overtook him in the mount Gilead.

24. 24

    וַיָּבֹאand cameאֱלֹהִיםGodאֶל־לָבָןto Labanהָאֲרַמִּיthe Syrianבַּחֲלֹםin a dreamהַלָּיְלָהthe nightוַיֹּאמֶרand saidלוֹto himהִשָּׁמֶרtake heedלְךָfor youפֶּן־תְּדַבֵּרlest you speakעִם־יַעֲקֹבwith Jacobמִטּוֹבfrom goodעַד־רָע׃until evil

    And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said unto him, Take heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.

25. 25

    וַיַּשֵּׂגand he overtookלָבָןLabanאֶת־יַעֲקֹבJacobוְיַעֲקֹבand Jacobתָּקַעhe had pitchedאֶת־אׇהֳלוֹhis tentבָּהָרin the mountainוְלָבָןand Labanתָּקַעhe had pitchedאֶת־אֶחָיוhis brethrenבְּהַרin the mount ofהַגִּלְעָד׃Gilead

    Then Laban overtook Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mount: and Laban with his brethren pitched in the mount of Gilead.

26. 26

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidלָבָןLabanלְיַעֲקֹבto Jacobמֶהwhatעָשִׂיתָyou didוַתִּגְנֹבand you have stolenאֶת־לְבָבִיmy heartוַתְּנַהֵגand you have led awayאֶת־בְּנֹתַיmy daughtersכִּשְׁבֻיוֹתlike captives ofחָרֶב׃a sword

    And Laban said to Jacob, What hast thou done, that thou hast stolen away unawares to me, and carried away my daughters, as captives taken with the sword?

27. 27

    לָמָּהwhyנַחְבֵּאתָdid you hide yourselfלִבְרֹחַto fleeוַתִּגְנֹבand you stoleאֹתִיmeוְלֹא־הִגַּדְתָּand not you declaredלִּיto meוָאֲשַׁלֵּחֲךָthat I might have sent you awayבְּשִׂמְחָהwith joyוּבְשִׁרִיםand with songsבְּתֹףwith tambourineוּבְכִנּוֹר׃and with harp

    Wherefore didst thou flee away secretly, and steal away from me; and didst not tell me, that I might have sent thee away with mirth, and with songs, with tabret, and with harp?

28. 28

    וְלֹאand notנְטַשְׁתַּנִיyou allowed meלְנַשֵּׁקto kissלְבָנַיmy sonsוְלִבְנֹתָיand my daughtersעַתָּהnowהִסְכַּלְתָּyou have behaved foolishlyעֲשׂוֹ׃in doing

    And hast not suffered me to kiss my sons and my daughters? thou hast now done foolishly in so doing.

29. 29

    יֶשׁ־לְאֵלit is in the power ofיָדִיmy handלַעֲשׂוֹתto doעִמָּכֶםwith youרָעevilוֵאלֹהֵיand God ofאֲבִיכֶםyour fatherאֶמֶשׁlast nightאָמַרsaidאֵלַיto meלֵאמֹרsayingהִשָּׁמֶרtake heedלְךָfor youמִדַּבֵּרfrom speakingעִם־יַעֲקֹבwith Jacobמִטּוֹבfrom goodעַד־רָע׃until evil

    It is in the power of my hand to do you hurt: but the God of your father spake unto me yesternight, saying, Take thou heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.

30. 30

    וְעַתָּהand nowהָלֹךְsurelyהָלַכְתָּyou have goneכִּי־נִכְסֹףbecause sorelyנִכְסַפְתָּהyou longedלְבֵיתto the house ofאָבִיךָyour fatherלָמָּהwhyגָנַבְתָּdid you stealאֶת־אֱלֹהָי׃my gods

    And now, though thou wouldest needs be gone, because thou sore longedst after thy father's house, yet wherefore hast thou stolen my gods?

31. 31

    וַיַּעַןand he answeredיַעֲקֹבJacobוַיֹּאמֶרand saidלְלָבָןto LabanכִּיbecauseיָרֵאתִיI was afraidכִּיbecauseאָמַרְתִּיI saidפֶּן־תִּגְזֹלlest you should tear awayאֶת־בְּנוֹתֶיךָyour daughtersמֵעִמִּי׃from with me

    And Jacob answered and said to Laban, Because I was afraid: for I said, Peradventure thou wouldest take by force thy daughters from me.

32. 32

    עִםwithאֲשֶׁרwhichתִּמְצָאyou findאֶת־אֱלֹהֶיךָyour godsלֹאnotיִחְיֶהhe shall liveנֶגֶדbeforeאַחֵינוּour brethrenהַכֶּר־לְךָdiscern for yourselfמָהwhatעִמָּדִיwith meוְקַח־לָךְand take for youוְלֹא־יָדַעand not he knewיַעֲקֹבJacobכִּיforרָחֵלRachelגְּנָבָתַם׃she had stolen them

    With whomsoever thou findest thy gods, let him not live: before our brethren discern thou what is thine with me, and take it to thee. For Jacob knew not that Rachel had stolen them.

33. 33

    וַיָּבֹאand cameלָבָןLabanבְּאֹהֶלin the tent ofיַעֲקֹבJacobוּבְאֹהֶלand in the tent ofלֵאָהLeahוּבְאֹהֶלand in the tent ofשְׁתֵּיtwoהָאֲמָהֹתthe maidservantsוְלֹאand notמָצָאfoundוַיֵּצֵאand went outמֵאֹהֶלfrom the tent ofלֵאָהLeahוַיָּבֹאand cameבְּאֹהֶלin the tent ofרָחֵל׃Rachel

    And Laban went into Jacob's tent, and into Leah's tent, and into the two maidservants' tents; but he found them not. Then went he out of Leah's tent, and entered into Rachel's tent.

34. 34

    וְרָחֵלand Rachelלָקְחָהhad takenאֶת־הַתְּרָפִיםthe teraphimוַתְּשִׂמֵםand she had put themבְּכַרin the saddlebag ofהַגָּמָלthe camelוַתֵּשֶׁבand she satעֲלֵיהֶםupon themוַיְמַשֵּׁשׁand he searchedלָבָןLabanאֶת־כׇּל־הָאֹהֶלall the tentוְלֹאand notמָצָא׃found

    Now Rachel had taken the images, and put them in the camel's furniture, and sat upon them. And Laban searched all the tent, but found them not.

35. 35

    וַתֹּאמֶרand saidאֶל־אָבִיהָto her fatherאַל־יִחַרdo not be angry withבְּעֵינֵיin the eyes ofאֲדֹנִיmy lordכִּיforלוֹאnotאוּכַלI couldלָקוּםto rise upמִפָּנֶיךָfrom before youכִּי־דֶרֶךְbecause the way ofנָשִׁיםwomenלִיto meוַיְחַפֵּשׂand he searchedוְלֹאand notמָצָאfoundאֶת־הַתְּרָפִים׃the teraphim

    And she said to her father, Let it not displease my lord that I cannot rise up before thee; for the custom of women is upon me. And he searched, but found not the images.

36. 36

    וַיִּחַרand was angryלְיַעֲקֹבto Jacobוַיָּרֶבand he contendedבְּלָבָןwith Labanוַיַּעַןand he answeredיַעֲקֹבJacobוַיֹּאמֶרand saidלְלָבָןto Labanמַה־פִּשְׁעִיwhat is my trespassמַהwhatחַטָּאתִיmy sinכִּיthatדָלַקְתָּyou have hotly pursuedאַחֲרָי׃after me

    And Jacob was wroth, and chode with Laban: and Jacob answered and said to Laban, What is my trespass? what is my sin, that thou hast so hotly pursued after me?

37. 37

    כִּי־מִשַּׁשְׁתָּbecause you have searchedאֶת־כׇּל־כֵּלַיall my goodsמַה־מָּצָאתָwhat did you findמִכֹּלof allכְּלֵי־בֵיתֶךָthe goods of your houseשִׂיםputכֹּהthusנֶגֶדagainstאַחַיmy brothersוְאַחֶיךָand your brothersוְיוֹכִיחוּthat they may judgeבֵּיןbetweenשְׁנֵינוּ׃the two of us

    Whereas thou hast searched all my stuff, what hast thou found of all thy household stuff? set it here before my brethren and thy brethren, that they may judge betwixt us both.

38. 38

    זֶהthisעֶשְׂרִיםtwentyשָׁנָהyearsאָנֹכִיIעִמָּךְwith youרְחֵלֶיךָyour ewesוְעִזֶּיךָand your female goatsלֹאnotשִׁכֵּלוּthey have miscarriedוְאֵילֵיand the rams ofצֹאנְךָyour flockלֹאnotאָכָלְתִּי׃I have eaten

    This twenty years have I been with thee; thy ewes and thy she goats have not cast their young, and the rams of thy flock have I not eaten.

39. 39

    טְרֵפָהa torn animalלֹא־הֵבֵאתִיI did not bringאֵלֶיךָto youאָנֹכִיIאֲחַטֶּנָּהI bore the loss of itמִיָּדִיat my handתְּבַקְשֶׁנָּהyou sought itגְּנֻבְתִיone stolen ofיוֹםdayוּגְנֻבְתִיand one stolen ofלָיְלָה׃night

    That which was torn of beasts I brought not unto thee; I bare the loss of it; of my hand didst thou require it, whether stolen by day, or stolen by night.

40. 40

    הָיִיתִיI wasבַיּוֹםby the dayאֲכָלַנִיit consumed meחֹרֶבheatוְקֶרַחand frostבַּלָּיְלָהby the nightוַתִּדַּדand it fledשְׁנָתִיmy sleepמֵעֵינָי׃from my eyes

    Thus I was; in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep departed from mine eyes.

41. 41

    זֶה־לִּיthis to meעֶשְׂרִיםtwentyשָׁנָהyearsבְּבֵיתֶךָin your houseעֲבַדְתִּיךָI have served youאַרְבַּע־עֶשְׂרֵהfourteenשָׁנָהyearsבִּשְׁתֵּיin twoבְנֹתֶיךָyour daughtersוְשֵׁשׁand sixשָׁנִיםyearsבְּצֹאנֶךָfor your flockוַתַּחֲלֵףand you changedאֶת־מַשְׂכֻּרְתִּיmy wagesעֲשֶׂרֶתtenמֹנִים׃times

    Thus have I been twenty years in thy house; I served thee fourteen years for thy two daughters, and six years for thy cattle: and thou hast changed my wages ten times.

42. 42

    לוּלֵיif not forאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofאָבִיmy fatherאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofאַבְרָהָםAbrahamוּפַחַדand the dread ofיִצְחָקIsaacהָיָהwasלִיto meכִּיthatעַתָּהnowרֵיקָםempty handedשִׁלַּחְתָּנִיyou sent away meאֶת־עׇנְיִיmy afflictionוְאֶת־יְגִיעַand the labor ofכַּפַּיmy handsרָאָהsawאֱלֹהִיםGodוַיּוֹכַחand rebuked youאָמֶשׁ׃last night

    Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely thou hadst sent me away now empty. God hath seen mine affliction and the labour of my hands, and rebuked thee yesternight.

43. 43

    וַיַּעַןand he answeredלָבָןLabanוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֶל־יַעֲקֹבto Jacobהַבָּנוֹתthe daughtersבְּנֹתַיmy daughtersוְהַבָּנִיםand the sonsבָּנַיmy sonsוְהַצֹּאןand the flockצֹאנִיmy flockוְכֹלand allאֲשֶׁר־אַתָּהwhich youרֹאֶהseeלִי־הוּאis mineוְלִבְנֹתַיand to my daughtersמָה־אֶעֱשֶׂהwhat shall I doלָאֵלֶּהto theseהַיּוֹםtodayאוֹorלִבְנֵיהֶןfor their sonsאֲשֶׁרwhichיָלָדוּ׃they have borne

    And Laban answered and said unto Jacob, These daughters are my daughters, and these children are my children, and these cattle are my cattle, and all that thou seest is mine: and what can I do this day unto these my daughters, or unto their children which they have born?

44. 44

    וְעַתָּהand nowלְכָהcome nowנִכְרְתָהlet us makeבְרִיתa covenantאֲנִיIוָאָתָּהand youוְהָיָהand let it beלְעֵדis a witnessבֵּינִיbetween meוּבֵינֶךָ׃and between you

    Now therefore come thou, let us make a covenant, I and thou; and let it be for a witness between me and thee.

45. 45

    וַיִּקַּחand tookיַעֲקֹבJacobאָבֶןa stoneוַיְרִימֶהָand he raised up itמַצֵּבָה׃a pillar

    And Jacob took a stone, and set it up for a pillar.

46. 46

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidיַעֲקֹבJacobלְאֶחָיוunto his brethrenלִקְטוּgatherאֲבָנִיםstonesוַיִּקְחוּand they tookאֲבָנִיםstonesוַיַּעֲשׂוּ־גָלand they made a heapוַיֹּאכְלוּand they ateשָׁםthereעַל־הַגָּל׃upon the heap

    And Jacob said unto his brethren, Gather stones; and they took stones, and made an heap: and they did eat there upon the heap.

47. 47

    וַיִּקְרָא־לוֹand he called himלָבָןLabanיְגַרJegarשָׂהֲדוּתָאSahaduthaוְיַעֲקֹבand Jacobקָרָאcalledלוֹto himגַּלְעֵד׃Galeed

    And Laban called it Jegar-sahadutha: but Jacob called it Galeed.

48. 48

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidלָבָןLabanהַגַּלthe heapהַזֶּהthisעֵדwitnessבֵּינִיbetween meוּבֵינְךָand between youהַיּוֹםthe dayעַל־כֵּןthereforeקָרָא־שְׁמוֹhe called its nameגַּלְעֵד׃Galeed

    And Laban said, This heap is a witness between me and thee this day. Therefore was the name of it called Galeed;

49. 49

    וְהַמִּצְפָּהand Mizpahאֲשֶׁרwhichאָמַרsaidיִצֶףmay watchיְהֹוָהthe LORDבֵּינִיbetween meוּבֵינֶךָand between youכִּיforנִסָּתֵרwe are hiddenאִישׁeachמֵרֵעֵהוּ׃from his neighbor

    And Mizpah; for he said, The LORD watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another.

50. 50

    אִם־תְּעַנֶּהif you will mistreatאֶת־בְּנֹתַיmy daughtersוְאִם־תִּקַּחand if you shall takeנָשִׁיםwomenעַל־בְּנֹתַיupon my daughtersאֵיןnoאִישׁmanעִמָּנוּwith usרְאֵהbeholdאֱלֹהִיםGodעֵדwitnessבֵּינִיbetween meוּבֵינֶךָ׃and between you

    If thou shalt afflict my daughters, or if thou shalt take other wives beside my daughters, no man is with us; see, God is witness betwixt me and thee.

51. 51

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidלָבָןLabanלְיַעֲקֹבto Jacobהִנֵּהbeholdהַגַּלthe heapהַזֶּהthisוְהִנֵּהand beholdהַמַּצֵּבָהthe pillarאֲשֶׁרwhichיָרִיתִיI have castבֵּינִיbetween meוּבֵינֶךָ׃and between you

    And Laban said to Jacob, Behold this heap, and behold this pillar, which I have cast betwixt me and thee;

52. 52

    עֵדwitnessהַגַּלthe heapהַזֶּהthisוְעֵדָהand a witnessהַמַּצֵּבָהthe pillarאִם־אָנִיif Iלֹא־אֶעֱבֹרnot let me passאֵלֶיךָto youאֶת־הַגַּלthe heapהַזֶּהthisוְאִם־אַתָּהand if youלֹא־תַעֲבֹרnot you pass byאֵלַיto meאֶת־הַגַּלthe heapהַזֶּהthisוְאֶת־הַמַּצֵּבָהand the pillarהַזֹּאתthisלְרָעָה׃for evil

    This heap be witness, and this pillar be witness, that I will not pass over this heap to thee, and that thou shalt not pass over this heap and this pillar unto me, for harm.

53. 53

    אֱלֹהֵיthe God ofאַבְרָהָםAbrahamוֵאלֹהֵיand God ofנָחוֹרNahorיִשְׁפְּטוּshall judgeבֵינֵינוּbetween usאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofאֲבִיהֶםtheir fatherוַיִּשָּׁבַעand sworeיַעֲקֹבJacobבְּפַחַדby the dread ofאָבִיוhis fatherיִצְחָק׃Isaac

    The God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge betwixt us. And Jacob sware by the fear of his father Isaac.

54. 54

    וַיִּזְבַּחand he sacrificedיַעֲקֹבJacobזֶבַחsacrificeבָּהָרin the mountainוַיִּקְרָאand calledלְאֶחָיוunto his brethrenלֶאֱכׇל־לָחֶםto eat breadוַיֹּאכְלוּand they ateלֶחֶםbreadוַיָּלִינוּand they lodgedבָּהָר׃in the mountain

    Then Jacob offered sacrifice upon the mount, and called his brethren to eat bread: and they did eat bread, and tarried all night in the mount.
