   וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledיִצְחָקYits/CHAKIsaacאֶל־יַעֲקֹבel-Ya/a/KOVto Jacobוַיְבָרֶךְvay/VA/rekhand blessedאֹתוֹo/TOhimוַיְצַוֵּהוּvay/tsav/VE/huand commanded himוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלוֹloto himלֹא־תִקַּחlo-tik/KACHyou shall not takeאִשָּׁהish/SHAa wifeמִבְּנוֹתmib/be/NOTof the daughters ofכְּנָעַן׃Ke/NA/anCanaan

   And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said unto him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.

   Arise, go to Padan-aram, to the house of Bethuel thy mother's father; and take thee a wife from thence of the daughters of Laban thy mother's brother.

   וְאֵלve/ELand GodשַׁדַּיShad/DAYAlmightyיְבָרֵךְye/va/REKHblessאֹתְךָot/KHAyouוְיַפְרְךָve/yaf/re/KHAand make you fruitfulוְיַרְבֶּךָve/yar/BE/khaand multiply youוְהָיִיתָve/ha/YI/tathat you may beלִקְהַלlik/HALan assembly ofעַמִּים׃am/MIMpeoples

   And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people;

   וְיִתֶּן־לְךָve/yit/TEN-le/KHAand give youאֶת־בִּרְכַּתet-bir/KATthe blessing ofאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamלְךָle/KHAto youוּלְזַרְעֲךָu/le/zar/a/KHAand to your seedאִתָּךְit/TAKHwith youלְרִשְׁתְּךָle/rish/te/KHAthat you may inheritאֶת־אֶרֶץet-E/retsthe land ofמְגֻרֶיךָme/gu/RE/khayour sojourningsאֲשֶׁר־נָתַןa/SHER-na/TANwhich gaveאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodלְאַבְרָהָם׃le/Av/ra/HAMto Abraham

   And give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee; that thou mayest inherit the land wherein thou art a stranger, which God gave unto Abraham.

   And Isaac sent away Jacob: and he went to Padan-aram unto Laban, son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob's and Esau's mother.

   וַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawעֵשָׂוE/SAVEsauכִּי־בֵרַךְki-ve/RAKHthat had blessedיִצְחָקYits/CHAKIsaacאֶת־יַעֲקֹבet-Ya/a/KOVJacobוְשִׁלַּחve/shil/LACHand sent awayאֹתוֹo/TOhimפַּדֶּנָהPad/DE/nato Padan-אֲרָםa/RAMaramלָקַחַת־לוֹla/KA/chat-loto take for himselfמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereאִשָּׁהish/SHAa wifeבְּבָרְכוֹbe/va/re/KHOas he blessedאֹתוֹo/TOhimוַיְצַוvay/TSAVand he chargedעָלָיוa/LAYVhimלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingלֹא־תִקַּחlo-tik/KACHyou shall not takeאִשָּׁהish/SHAa wifeמִבְּנוֹתmib/be/NOTof the daughters ofכְּנָעַן׃Ke/NA/anCanaan

   When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Padan-aram, to take him a wife from thence; and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan;

   וַיִּשְׁמַעvay/yish/MAand obeyedיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobאֶל־אָבִיוel-a/VIVto his fatherוְאֶל־אִמּוֹve/EL-im/MOand to his motherוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentפַּדֶּנָהPad/DE/nato Padan-אֲרָם׃a/RAMaram

   And that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Padan-aram;

8. 8

   וַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawעֵשָׂוE/SAVEsauכִּיkithatרָעוֹתra/OTwere evilבְּנוֹתbe/NOTthe daughters ofכְּנָעַןKe/NA/anCanaanבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyes ofיִצְחָקYits/CHAKIsaacאָבִיו׃a/VIVhis father

   And Esau seeing that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father;

9. 9

   וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentעֵשָׂוE/SAVEsauאֶל־יִשְׁמָעֵאלel-Yish/ma/ELto Ishmaelוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֶת־מָחֲלַתet-Ma/cha/LATMahalathבַּת־יִשְׁמָעֵאלbat-Yish/ma/ELthe daughter of Ishmaelבֶּן־אַבְרָהָםben-Av/ra/HAMAbraham's sonאֲחוֹתa/CHOTthe sister ofנְבָיוֹתNe/va/YOTNebaiothעַל־נָשָׁיוal-na/SHAYVbesides his wivesלוֹloto himלְאִשָּׁה׃le/ish/SHAto wife

   Then went Esau unto Ishmael, and took unto the wives which he had Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham's son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife.

    וַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobמִבְּאֵרmib/Be/ERfrom Beer-שָׁבַעSHA/vashebaוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentחָרָנָה׃Cha/RA/natoward Haran

    And Jacob went out from Beer-sheba, and went toward Haran.

11. 11

    וַיִּפְגַּעvay/yif/GAand he lighted uponבַּמָּקוֹםbam/ma/KOMin the placeוַיָּלֶןvay/YA/lenand tarriedשָׁםshamthereכִּי־בָאki-vabecause was setהַשֶּׁמֶשׁhash/SHE/meshthe sunוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookמֵאַבְנֵיme/av/NEof the stones ofהַמָּקוֹםham/ma/KOMthe placeוַיָּשֶׂםvay/YA/semand put themמְרַאֲשֹׁתָיוme/ra/a/sho/TAYVat his headוַיִּשְׁכַּבvay/yish/KAVand he lay downבַּמָּקוֹםbam/ma/KOMin the placeהַהוּא׃ha/HUthat

    And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.

12. 12

    וַיַּחֲלֹםvay/ya/cha/LOMand he dreamedוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdסֻלָּםsul/LAMa ladderמֻצָּבmuts/TSAVset upאַרְצָהAR/tsaon the earthוְרֹאשׁוֹve/ro/SHOand its topמַגִּיעַmag/GI/areachedהַשָּׁמָיְמָהhash/sha/MAY/mato heavenוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdמַלְאֲכֵיmal/a/KHEthe angels ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodעֹלִיםo/LIMascendingוְיֹרְדִיםve/yor/DIMand descendingבּוֹ׃boon it

    And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.

13. 13

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDנִצָּבnits/TSAVstoodעָלָיוa/LAYVabove itוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidאֲנִיa/NIIיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamאָבִיךָa/VI/khayour fatherוֵאלֹהֵיve/lo/HEand the God ofיִצְחָקYits/CHAKIsaacהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאַתָּהat/TAyouשֹׁכֵבsho/KHEVlieעָלֶיהָa/LE/haupon itלְךָle/KHAto youאֶתְּנֶנָּהet/te/NEN/nawill I give itוּלְזַרְעֶךָ׃u/le/zar/E/khaand to your seed

    And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;

14. 14

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand shall beזַרְעֲךָzar/a/KHAyour seedכַּעֲפַרka/a/FARas the dust ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe earthוּפָרַצְתָּu/fa/rats/TAand you shall spread abroadיָמָּהYAM/mawestwardוָקֵדְמָהva/KED/maand eastwardוְצָפֹנָהve/tsa/FO/naand northwardוָנֶגְבָּהva/NEG/baand southwardוְנִבְרְכוּve/niv/re/KHUand shall be blessedבְךָve/KHAin youכׇּל־מִשְׁפְּחֹתkol-mish/pe/CHOTall the families ofהָאֲדָמָהha/a/da/MAthe earthוּבְזַרְעֶךָ׃u/ve/zar/E/khaand in your seed

    And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

15. 15

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdאָנֹכִיa/no/KHII amעִמָּךְim/MAKHwith youוּשְׁמַרְתִּיךָu/she/mar/TI/khaand will keep youבְּכֹלbe/KHOLin allאֲשֶׁר־תֵּלֵךְa/SHER-te/LEKHwherever you goוַהֲשִׁבֹתִיךָva/ha/shi/vo/TI/khaand will bring you againאֶל־הָאֲדָמָהel-ha/a/da/MAto the landהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisכִּיkiforלֹאlonotאֶעֱזׇבְךָe/e/zov/KHAwill I leave youעַדaduntilאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאִם־עָשִׂיתִיim-a/SI/tiI have doneאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־דִּבַּרְתִּיet-a/SHER-dib/BAR/tithat which I have spokenלָךְ׃lakhto you

    And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

16. 16

    וַיִּיקַץvay/yi/KATSand he awokeיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobמִשְּׁנָתוֹmish/she/na/TOfrom his sleepוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאָכֵןa/KHENsurelyיֵשׁyeshisיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבַּמָּקוֹםbam/ma/KOMin the placeהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוְאָנֹכִיve/a/no/KHIand Iלֹאlonotיָדָעְתִּי׃ya/DA/tiI knew it

    And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not.

17. 17

    וַיִּירָאvay/yi/RAand he was afraidוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidמַה־נּוֹרָאma-no/RAhow dreadfulהַמָּקוֹםham/ma/KOMthe placeהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֵיןenis noneזֶהzethisכִּיkibutאִם־בֵּיתim-betthe house ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוְזֶהve/ZEand thisשַׁעַרSHA/arthe gate ofהַשָּׁמָיִם׃hash/sha/MA/yimheaven

    And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.

18. 18

    וַיַּשְׁכֵּםvay/yash/KEMand he rose earlyיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobבַּבֹּקֶרbab/BO/kerin the morningוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֶת־הָאֶבֶןet-ha/E/venthe stoneאֲשֶׁר־שָׂםa/SHER-samthat he had putמְרַאֲשֹׁתָיוme/ra/a/sho/TAYVat his headוַיָּשֶׂםvay/YA/semand he setאֹתָהּo/TAitמַצֵּבָהmats/tse/VAfor a pillarוַיִּצֹקvay/yi/TSOKand he pouredשֶׁמֶןSHE/menoilעַל־רֹאשָׁהּ׃al-ro/SHAupon its top

    And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.

19. 19

    וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledאֶת־שֵׁם־הַמָּקוֹםet-shem-ham/ma/KOMthe name of the placeהַהוּאha/HUthatבֵּית־אֵלBet-elBeth-elוְאוּלָםve/u/LAMbutלוּזLuzLuzשֵׁם־הָעִירshem-ha/IRthe name of the city wasלָרִאשֹׁנָה׃la/ri/sho/NAat the first

    And he called the name of that place Beth-el: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.

20. 20

    וַיִּדַּרvay/yid/DARand he vowedיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobנֶדֶרNE/dera vowלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאִם־יִהְיֶהim-yih/YEif will beאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodעִמָּדִיim/ma/DIwith meוּשְׁמָרַנִיu/she/ma/RA/niand will keep meבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhin the wayהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIהוֹלֵךְho/LEKHgoוְנָתַן־לִיve/na/TAN-liand will give meלֶחֶםLE/chembreadלֶאֱכֹלle/e/KHOLto eatוּבֶגֶדu/VE/gedand raimentלִלְבֹּשׁ׃lil/BOSHto put on

    And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,

21. 21

    וְשַׁבְתִּיve/shav/TIand I returnבְשָׁלוֹםve/sha/LOMin peaceאֶל־בֵּיתel-betto the house ofאָבִיa/VImy fatherוְהָיָהve/ha/YAthen shall beיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלִיlito meלֵאלֹהִים׃le/lo/HIMGod

    So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God:

22. 22

    וְהָאֶבֶןve/ha/E/venand the stoneהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאֲשֶׁר־שַׂמְתִּיa/SHER-SAM/tiwhich I have setמַצֵּבָהmats/tse/VAfor a pillarיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beבֵּיתbetthe house ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוְכֹלve/KHOLand of allאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichתִּתֶּן־לִיtit/TEN-liYou shall give meעַשֵּׂרas/SERtitheאֲעַשְּׂרֶנּוּa/as/se/REN/nuI will tithe itלָךְ׃lakhto You

    And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.
