   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכִּי־זָקֵןki-za/KENthat was oldיִצְחָקYits/CHAKIsaacוַתִּכְהֶיןָvat/tikh/HE/naand were dimעֵינָיוe/NAYVhis eyesמֵרְאֹתmer/OTfrom seeingוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledאֶת־עֵשָׂוet-E/SAVEsauבְּנוֹbe/NOhis sonהַגָּדֹלhag/ga/DOLthe elderוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himבְּנִיbe/NImy sonוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהִנֵּנִי׃hin/NE/nihere am I

   And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he said unto him, Behold, here am I.

   And he said, Behold now, I am old, I know not the day of my death:

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowשָׂא־נָאsa-natake I prayכֵלֶיךָkhe/LE/khayour weaponsתֶּלְיְךָtel/ye/KHAyour quiverוְקַשְׁתֶּךָve/kash/TE/khaand your bowוְצֵאve/TSEand go outהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEto the fieldוְצוּדָהve/TSU/daand huntלִּיlifor me(צידה)tsayadah[צָיִד]׃TSA/yidvenison

   Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison;

   וַעֲשֵׂה־לִיva/a/SE-liand make meמַטְעַמִּיםmat/am/MIMsavory meatכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasאָהַבְתִּיa/HAV/tiI loveוְהָבִיאָהve/ha/VI/aand bring itלִּיlito meוְאֹכֵלָהve/o/KHE/lathat I may eatבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURthatתְּבָרֶכְךָte/va/rekh/KHAmay bless youנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHImy soulבְּטֶרֶםbe/TE/rembeforeאָמוּת׃a/MUTI die

   And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die.

   And Rebekah heard when Isaac spake to Esau his son. And Esau went to the field to hunt for venison, and to bring it.

   And Rebekah spake unto Jacob her son, saying, Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau thy brother, saying,

   הָבִיאָהha/VI/abringלִּיlito meצַיִדTSA/yidvenisonוַעֲשֵׂה־לִיva/a/SE-liand make meמַטְעַמִּיםmat/am/MIMsavory meatוְאֹכֵלָהve/o/KHE/lathat I may eatוַאֲבָרֶכְכָהva/a/va/rekh/KHAand bless youלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeמוֹתִי׃mo/TImy death

   Bring me venison, and make me savoury meat, that I may eat, and bless thee before the LORD before my death.

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowבְנִיve/NImy sonשְׁמַעshe/MAobeyבְּקֹלִיbe/ko/LImy voiceלַאֲשֶׁרla/a/SHERaccording to that whichאֲנִיa/NIIמְצַוָּהme/tsav/VAcommandאֹתָךְ׃o/TAKHyou

   Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee.

   לֶךְ־נָאlekh-nago nowאֶל־הַצֹּאןel-hats/TSONto the flockוְקַח־לִיve/KACH-liand fetch meמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereשְׁנֵיshe/NEtwoגְּדָיֵיge/da/YEkids ofעִזִּיםiz/ZIMgoatsטֹבִיםto/VIMgoodוְאֶעֱשֶׂהve/e/e/SEand I will makeאֹתָםo/TAMthemמַטְעַמִּיםmat/am/MIMsavory meatלְאָבִיךָle/a/VI/khafor your fatherכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasאָהֵב׃a/HEVhe loves

   Go now to the flock, and fetch me from thence two good kids of the goats; and I will make them savoury meat for thy father, such as he loveth:

10. 10

    וְהֵבֵאתָve/he/ve/TAand you shall bring itלְאָבִיךָle/a/VI/khato your fatherוְאָכָלve/a/KHALthat he may eatבַּעֲבֻרba/a/VURsoאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיְבָרֶכְךָye/va/rekh/KHAmay bless youלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeמוֹתוֹ׃mo/TOhis death

    And thou shalt bring it to thy father, that he may eat, and that he may bless thee before his death.

11. 11

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobאֶל־רִבְקָהel-Riv/KAto Rebekahאִמּוֹim/MOhis motherהֵןhenbeholdעֵשָׂוE/SAVEsauאָחִיa/CHImy brotherאִישׁisha manשָׂעִרsa/IRhairyוְאָנֹכִיve/a/no/KHIand I amאִישׁisha manחָלָק׃cha/LAKsmooth

    And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man:

12. 12

    אוּלַיu/LAYperhapsיְמֻשֵּׁנִיye/mush/SHE/niwill feel meאָבִיa/VImy fatherוְהָיִיתִיve/ha/YI/tiand I shall beבְעֵינָיוve/e/NAYVin his eyesכִּמְתַעְתֵּעַkim/ta/TE/aas a deceiverוְהֵבֵאתִיve/he/ve/TIand I shall bringעָלַיa/LAYupon meקְלָלָהke/la/LAa curseוְלֹאve/LOand notבְרָכָה׃ve/ra/KHAa blessing

    My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing.

13. 13

    וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidלוֹloto himאִמּוֹim/MOhis motherעָלַיa/LAYupon meקִלְלָתְךָkil/la/te/KHAyour curseבְּנִיbe/NImy sonאַךְakhbutשְׁמַעshe/MAobeyבְּקֹלִיbe/ko/LImy voiceוְלֵךְve/LEKHand goקַח־לִי׃kach-lifetch me

    And his mother said unto him, Upon me be thy curse, my son: only obey my voice, and go fetch me them.

14. 14

    וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand fetchedוַיָּבֵאvay/ya/VEand broughtלְאִמּוֹle/im/MOto his motherוַתַּעַשׂvat/TA/asand madeאִמּוֹim/MOhis motherמַטְעַמִּיםmat/am/MIMsavory meatכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasאָהֵבa/HEVlovedאָבִיו׃a/VIVhis father

    And he went, and fetched, and brought them to his mother: and his mother made savoury meat, such as his father loved.

15. 15

    וַתִּקַּחvat/tik/KACHand she tookרִבְקָהRiv/KARebekahאֶת־בִּגְדֵיet-big/DEthe garments ofעֵשָׂוE/SAVEsauבְּנָהּbe/NAher sonהַגָּדֹלhag/ga/DOLthe elderהַחֲמֻדֹתha/cha/mu/DOTgoodlyאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich wereאִתָּהּit/TAwith herבַּבָּיִתbab/BA/yitin the houseוַתַּלְבֵּשׁvat/tal/BESHand clothedאֶת־יַעֲקֹבet-Ya/a/KOVJacobבְּנָהּbe/NAher sonהַקָּטָן׃hak/ka/TANthe younger

    And Rebekah took goodly raiment of her eldest son Esau, which were with her in the house, and put them upon Jacob her younger son:

16. 16

    וְאֵתve/ETandעֹרֹתo/ROTthe skins ofגְּדָיֵיge/da/YEkids ofהָעִזִּיםha/iz/ZIMthe goatsהִלְבִּישָׁהhil/BI/shashe clothedעַל־יָדָיוal-ya/DAYVupon his handsוְעַלve/ALand uponחֶלְקַתchel/KATthe smooth ofצַוָּארָיו׃tsav/va/RAYVhis neck

    And she put the skins of the kids of the goats upon his hands, and upon the smooth of his neck:

17. 17

    וַתִּתֵּןvat/tit/TENand she gaveאֶת־הַמַּטְעַמִּיםet-ham/mat/am/MIMthe savory meatוְאֶת־הַלֶּחֶםve/ET-hal/LE/chemand the breadאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichעָשָׂתָהa/SA/tashe had preparedבְּיַדbe/YADinto the hand ofיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobבְּנָהּ׃be/NAher son

    And she gave the savoury meat and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Jacob.

18. 18

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameאֶל־אָבִיוel-a/VIVto his fatherוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאָבִיa/VImy fatherוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהִנֶּנִּיhin/NEN/nihere am Iמִיmiwhoאַתָּהat/TAare youבְּנִי׃be/NImy son

    And he came unto his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I; who art thou, my son?

19. 19

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobאֶל־אָבִיוel-a/VIVto his fatherאָנֹכִיa/no/KHII amעֵשָׂוE/SAVEsauבְּכֹרֶךָbe/kho/RE/khayour firstbornעָשִׂיתִיa/SI/tiI have doneכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasדִּבַּרְתָּdib/BAR/tayou toldאֵלָיe/LAYmeקוּם־נָאkum-naarise I prayשְׁבָהshe/VAsitוְאׇכְלָהve/okh/LAand eatמִצֵּידִיmits/tse/DIof my venisonבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURthatתְּבָרְכַנִּיte/va/re/KHAN/nimay bless meנַפְשֶׁךָ׃naf/SHE/khayour soul

    And Jacob said unto his father, I am Esau thy firstborn; I have done according as thou badest me: arise, I pray thee, sit and eat of my venison, that thy soul may bless me.

20. 20

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיִצְחָקYits/CHAKIsaacאֶל־בְּנוֹel-be/NOto his sonמַה־זֶּהma-zehow is thisמִהַרְתָּmi/HAR/tahave you hastenedלִמְצֹאlim/TSOto findבְּנִיbe/NImy sonוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidכִּיkibecauseהִקְרָהhik/RAbrought itיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godלְפָנָי׃le/fa/NAYto me

    And Isaac said unto his son, How is it that thou hast found it so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the LORD thy God brought it to me.

21. 21

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיִצְחָקYits/CHAKIsaacאֶל־יַעֲקֹבel-Ya/a/KOVto Jacobגְּשָׁה־נָּאge/SHA-nacome near I prayוַאֲמֻשְׁךָva/a/mush/KHAthat I may feel youבְּנִיbe/NImy sonהַאַתָּהha/at/TAwhether you beזֶהzethisבְּנִיbe/NImy sonעֵשָׂוE/SAVEsauאִם־לֹא׃im-loor not

    And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou be my very son Esau or not.

22. 22

    וַיִּגַּשׁvay/yig/GASHand drew nearיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobאֶל־יִצְחָקel-Yits/CHAKto Isaacאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherוַיְמֻשֵּׁהוּvay/mush/SHE/huand he felt himוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַקֹּלhak/KOLthe voice isקוֹלkolthe voice ofיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobוְהַיָּדַיִםve/hay/ya/DA/yimand the handsיְדֵיye/DEhands ofעֵשָׂו׃E/SAVEsau

    And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob's voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.

23. 23

    וְלֹאve/LOand notהִכִּירוֹhik/ki/ROhe discerned himכִּי־הָיוּki-ha/YUbecause wereיָדָיוya/DAYVhis handsכִּידֵיki/DElike the hands ofעֵשָׂוE/SAVEsauאָחִיוa/CHIVhis brotherשְׂעִרֹתse/i/ROThairyוַיְבָרְכֵהוּ׃vay/va/re/KHE/huand he blessed him

    And he discerned him not, because his hands were hairy, as his brother Esau's hands: so he blessed him.

24. 24

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאַתָּהat/TAare youזֶהzethisבְּנִיbe/NImy sonעֵשָׂוE/SAVEsauוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאָנִי׃A/niI am

    And he said, Art thou my very son Esau? And he said, I am.

25. 25

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַגִּשָׁהhag/GI/shabring nearלִּיlito meוְאֹכְלָהve/okh/LAand I will eatמִצֵּידmits/TSEDof the venison ofבְּנִיbe/NImy sonלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatתְּבָרֶכְךָte/va/rekh/KHAmay bless youנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHImy soulוַיַּגֶּשׁ־לוֹvay/yag/GESH-loand he brought it near to himוַיֹּאכַלvay/YO/khaland he ateוַיָּבֵאvay/ya/VEand he broughtלוֹloto himיַיִןYA/yinwineוַיֵּשְׁתְּ׃vay/YESHTand he drank

    And he said, Bring it near to me, and I will eat of my son's venison, that my soul may bless thee. And he brought it near to him, and he did eat: and he brought him wine, and he drank.

26. 26

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himיִצְחָקYits/CHAKIsaacאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherגְּשָׁה־נָּאge/SHA-nacome near I prayוּשְׁקָה־לִּיu/she/KA-liand kiss meבְּנִי׃be/NImy son

    And his father Isaac said unto him, Come near now, and kiss me, my son.

27. 27

    וַיִּגַּשׁvay/yig/GASHand he drew nearוַיִּשַּׁק־לוֹvay/yish/SHAK-loand kissed himוַיָּרַחvay/YA/rachand he smelledאֶת־רֵיחַet-RE/achthe smell ofבְּגָדָיוbe/ga/DAYVhis garmentsוַיְבָרְכֵהוּvay/va/re/KHE/huand he blessed himוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidרְאֵהre/EseeרֵיחַRE/achthe smell ofבְּנִיbe/NImy sonכְּרֵיחַke/RE/achis as the smell ofשָׂדֶהsa/DEa fieldאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבֵּרְכוֹber/KHOhas blessedיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the LORD hath blessed:

28. 28

    וְיִתֶּן־לְךָve/yit/TEN-le/KHAand give youהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodמִטַּלmit/TALof the dew ofהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensוּמִשְׁמַנֵּיu/mish/man/NEand of the fatness ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe earthוְרֹבve/ROVand plenty ofדָּגָןda/GANgrainוְתִירֹשׁ׃ve/ti/ROSHand new wine

    Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine:

29. 29

    יַעַבְדוּךָya/av/DU/khalet serve youעַמִּיםam/MIMpeoples(וישתחו)vayashatachav[וְיִשְׁתַּחֲווּ]ve/yish/ta/cha/VUand bow downלְךָle/KHAto youלְאֻמִּיםle/um/MIMnationsהֱוֵהhe/VEbeגְבִירge/VIRlordלְאַחֶיךָle/a/CHE/khaover your brethrenוְיִשְׁתַּחֲווּve/yish/ta/cha/VUand let bow downלְךָle/KHAto youבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofאִמֶּךָim/ME/khayour motherאֹרְרֶיךָor/RE/khathose who curse youאָרוּרa/RURcursedוּמְבָרְכֶיךָu/me/va/re/KHE/khaand those who bless youבָּרוּךְ׃ba/RUKHblessed

    Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother's sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee.

30. 30

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenכִּלָּהkil/LAhad made an end ofיִצְחָקYits/CHAKIsaacלְבָרֵךְle/va/REKHblessingאֶת־יַעֲקֹבet-Ya/a/KOVJacobוַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passאַךְakhonlyיָצֹאya/TSOgone outיָצָאya/TSAhad gone outיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobמֵאֵתme/ETfromפְּנֵיpe/NEthe face ofיִצְחָקYits/CHAKIsaacאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherוְעֵשָׂוve/E/SAVand Esauאָחִיוa/CHIVhis brotherבָּאbacameמִצֵּידוֹ׃mits/tse/DOfrom his hunting

    And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.

31. 31

    וַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand he madeגַּם־הוּאgam-huhe alsoמַטְעַמִּיםmat/am/MIMsavory meatוַיָּבֵאvay/ya/VEand he broughtלְאָבִיוle/a/VIVto his fatherוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלְאָבִיוle/a/VIVto his fatherיָקֻםya/KUMlet him ariseאָבִיa/VImy fatherוְיֹאכַלve/YO/khaland let him eatמִצֵּידmits/TSEDof the venison ofבְּנוֹbe/NOhis sonבַּעֲבֻרba/a/VURthatתְּבָרְכַנִּיte/va/re/KHAN/nimay bless meנַפְשֶׁךָ׃naf/SHE/khayour soul

    And he also had made savoury meat, and brought it unto his father, and said unto his father, Let my father arise, and eat of his son's venison, that thy soul may bless me.

32. 32

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלוֹloto himיִצְחָקYits/CHAKIsaacאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherמִי־אָתָּהmi-AT/tawho are youוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲנִיa/NII amבִּנְךָbin/KHAyour sonבְכֹרְךָve/khor/KHAyour firstbornעֵשָׂו׃E/SAVEsau

    And Isaac his father said unto him, Who art thou? And he said, I am thy son, thy firstborn Esau.

33. 33

    וַיֶּחֱרַדvay/ye/che/RADand he trembledיִצְחָקYits/CHAKIsaacחֲרָדָהcha/ra/DAa tremblingגְּדֹלָהge/do/LAgreatעַד־מְאֹדad-me/ODexceedinglyוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidמִי־אֵפוֹאmi-e/FOwho thenהוּאhuis heהַצָּד־צַיִדhats/TSAD-TSA/yidthat has taken venisonוַיָּבֵאvay/ya/VEand brought itלִיlito meוָאֹכַלva/o/KHALand I ateמִכֹּלmik/KOLof allבְּטֶרֶםbe/TE/rembeforeתָּבוֹאta/VOyou cameוָאֲבָרְכֵהוּva/a/va/re/KHE/huand I blessed himגַּם־בָּרוּךְgam-ba/RUKHyea and blessedיִהְיֶה׃yih/YEhe shall be

    And Isaac trembled very exceedingly, and said, Who? where is he that hath taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him? yea, and he shall be blessed.

34. 34

    כִּשְׁמֹעַkish/MO/awhen heardעֵשָׂוE/SAVEsauאֶת־דִּבְרֵיet-div/REthe words ofאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherוַיִּצְעַקvay/yits/AKand he criedצְעָקָהtse/a/KAa cryגְּדֹלָהge/do/LAgreatוּמָרָהu/ma/RAand bitterעַד־מְאֹדad-me/ODexceedinglyוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלְאָבִיוle/a/VIVto his fatherבָּרְכֵנִיba/re/KHE/nibless meגַם־אָנִיgam-A/nieven me alsoאָבִי׃a/VImy father

    And when Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry, and said unto his father, Bless me, even me also, O my father.

35. 35

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidבָּאbacameאָחִיךָa/CHI/khayour brotherבְּמִרְמָהbe/mir/MAwith deceitוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookבִּרְכָתֶךָ׃bir/kha/TE/khayour blessing

    And he said, Thy brother came with subtilty, and hath taken away thy blessing.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהֲכִיha/KHIis it thatקָרָאka/RAis calledשְׁמוֹshe/MOhis nameיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobוַיַּעְקְבֵנִיvay/ya/ke/VE/nifor he has supplanted meזֶהzethisפַעֲמַיִםfa/a/MA/yimtwiceאֶת־בְּכֹרָתִיet-be/kho/ra/TImy birthrightלָקָחla/KACHhe took awayוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdעַתָּהat/TAnowלָקַחla/KACHhe has taken awayבִּרְכָתִיbir/kha/TImy blessingוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidהֲלֹא־אָצַלְתָּha/LO-a/TSAL/tahave you not reservedלִּיlifor meבְּרָכָה׃be/ra/KHAa blessing

    And he said, Is not he rightly named Jacob? for he hath supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright; and, behold, now he hath taken away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me?

37. 37

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredיִצְחָקYits/CHAKIsaacוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלְעֵשָׂוle/E/SAVto Esauהֵןhenbeholdגְּבִירge/VIRlordשַׂמְתִּיוsam/TIVI have made himלָךְlakhyourוְאֶת־כׇּל־אֶחָיוve/ET-kol-e/CHAYVand all his brethrenנָתַתִּיna/TAT/tihave I givenלוֹloto himלַעֲבָדִיםla/a/va/DIMfor servantsוְדָגָןve/da/GANand grainוְתִירֹשׁve/ti/ROSHand new wineסְמַכְתִּיוse/makh/TIVhave I sustained himוּלְכָהu/le/KHAand to youאֵפוֹאe/FOnowמָהmawhatאֶעֱשֶׂהe/e/SEshall I doבְּנִי׃be/NImy son

    And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now unto thee, my son?

38. 38

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidעֵשָׂוE/SAVEsauאֶל־אָבִיוel-a/VIVto his fatherהַבְרָכָהhav/ra/KHAblessingאַחַתa/CHAToneהִוא־לְךָhiv-le/KHAis it to youאָבִיa/VImy fatherבָּרְכֵנִיba/re/KHE/nibless meגַם־אָנִיgam-A/nime alsoאָבִיa/VImy fatherוַיִּשָּׂאvay/yis/SAand lifted upעֵשָׂוE/SAVEsauקֹלוֹko/LOhis voiceוַיֵּבְךְּ׃vay/YEVKand he wept

    And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept.

39. 39

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredיִצְחָקYits/CHAKIsaacאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdמִשְׁמַנֵּיmish/man/NEof the fatness ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe earthיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beמוֹשָׁבֶךָmo/sha/VE/khayour dwellingוּמִטַּלu/mit/TALand of the dew ofהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensמֵעָל׃me/ALfrom above

    And Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above;

40. 40

    וְעַל־חַרְבְּךָve/AL-char/be/KHAand by your swordתִחְיֶהtich/YEshall you liveוְאֶת־אָחִיךָve/ET-a/CHI/khaand your brotherתַּעֲבֹדta/a/VODyou shall serveוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenתָּרִידta/RIDyou shall have dominionוּפָרַקְתָּu/fa/rak/TAthat you shall breakעֻלּוֹul/LOhis yokeמֵעַלme/ALfrom offצַוָּארֶךָ׃tsav/va/RE/khayour neck

    And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.

41. 41

    וַיִּשְׂטֹםvay/yis/TOMand hatedעֵשָׂוE/SAVEsauאֶת־יַעֲקֹבet-Ya/a/KOVJacobעַל־הַבְּרָכָהal-hab/be/ra/KHAbecause of the blessingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwith whichבֵּרְכוֹber/KHOblessed himאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidעֵשָׂוE/SAVEsauבְּלִבּוֹbe/lib/BOin his heartיִקְרְבוּyik/re/VUare at handיְמֵיye/MEthe days ofאֵבֶלE/velmourning forאָבִיa/VImy fatherוְאַהַרְגָהve/a/har/GAthen will I slayאֶת־יַעֲקֹבet-Ya/a/KOVJacobאָחִי׃a/CHImy brother

    And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.

42. 42

    וַיֻּגַּדvay/yug/GADand were toldלְרִבְקָהle/Riv/KAto Rebekahאֶת־דִּבְרֵיet-div/REthe words ofעֵשָׂוE/SAVEsauבְּנָהּbe/NAher sonהַגָּדֹלhag/ga/DOLthe elderוַתִּשְׁלַחvat/tish/LACHand she sentוַתִּקְרָאvat/tik/RAand she calledלְיַעֲקֹבLe/ya/a/KOVJacobבְּנָהּbe/NAher sonהַקָּטָןhak/ka/TANthe youngerוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdעֵשָׂוE/SAVEsauאָחִיךָa/CHI/khayour brotherמִתְנַחֵםmit/na/CHEMdoes comfort himselfלְךָle/KHAtouching youלְהׇרְגֶךָ׃le/hor/GE/khato kill you

    And these words of Esau her elder son were told to Rebekah: and she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said unto him, Behold, thy brother Esau, as touching thee, doth comfort himself, purposing to kill thee.

43. 43

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowבְנִיve/NImy sonשְׁמַעshe/MAobeyבְּקֹלִיbe/ko/LImy voiceוְקוּםve/KUMand ariseבְּרַח־לְךָbe/RACH-le/KHAflee youאֶל־לָבָןel-La/VANto Labanאָחִיa/CHImy brotherחָרָנָה׃Cha/RA/nato Haran

    Now therefore, my son, obey my voice; and arise, flee thou to Laban my brother to Haran;

44. 44

    וְיָשַׁבְתָּve/ya/shav/TAand tarryעִמּוֹim/MOwith himיָמִיםya/MIMdaysאֲחָדִיםa/cha/DIMa fewעַדaduntilאֲשֶׁר־תָּשׁוּבa/SHER-ta/SHUVturn awayחֲמַתcha/MATthe wrath ofאָחִיךָ׃a/CHI/khayour brother

    And tarry with him a few days, until thy brother's fury turn away;

45. 45

    עַד־שׁוּבad-shuvuntil turn awayאַף־אָחִיךָaf-a/CHI/khathe anger of your brotherמִמְּךָmim/me/KHAfrom youוְשָׁכַחve/SHA/khachand he forgetאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־עָשִׂיתָet-a/SHER-a/SI/tathat which you didלּוֹloto himוְשָׁלַחְתִּיve/sha/lach/TIthen I will sendוּלְקַחְתִּיךָu/le/kach/TI/khaand I will fetch youמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereלָמָהla/MAwhyאֶשְׁכַּלesh/KALshould I be bereavedגַּם־שְׁנֵיכֶםgam-she/ne/KHEMof you bothיוֹםyomdayאֶחָד׃e/CHADone

    Until thy brother's anger turn away from thee, and he forget that which thou hast done to him: then I will send, and fetch thee from thence: why should I be deprived also of you both in one day?

46. 46

    וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidרִבְקָהRiv/KARebekahאֶל־יִצְחָקel-Yits/CHAKto IsaacקַצְתִּיKATS/tiI am wearyבְחַיַּיve/chay/YAYof my lifeמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofבְּנוֹתbe/NOTthe daughters ofחֵתChetHethאִם־לֹקֵחַim-lo/KE/achif takeיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobאִשָּׁהish/SHAa wifeמִבְּנוֹת־חֵתmib/Be/NOT-chetof the daughters of Hethכָּאֵלֶּהka/EL/lesuch as theseמִבְּנוֹתmib/be/NOTof the daughters ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landלָמָּהLAM/mawhat goodלִּיlito meחַיִּים׃chay/YIMlife

    And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth: if Jacob take a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these which are of the daughters of the land, what good shall my life do me?
