1. 1

   וַיֹּסֶףand continuedאַבְרָהָםAbrahamוַיִּקַּחand tookאִשָּׁהa womanוּשְׁמָהּand her name wasקְטוּרָה׃Keturah

   Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah.

2. 2

   וַתֵּלֶדand boreלוֹto himאֶת־זִמְרָןZimranוְאֶת־יׇקְשָׁןand Jokshanוְאֶת־מְדָןand Medanוְאֶת־מִדְיָןand Midianוְאֶת־יִשְׁבָּקand Ishbakוְאֶת־שׁוּחַ׃and Shuah

   And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.

   וְיׇקְשָׁןand Jokshanיָלַדbegatאֶת־שְׁבָאShebaוְאֶת־דְּדָןand Dedanוּבְנֵיand sons ofדְדָןDedanהָיוּwereאַשּׁוּרִםAsshuritesוּלְטוּשִׁםand Letushimוּלְאֻמִּים׃and Leummites

   And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim.

4. 4

   וּבְנֵיand sons ofמִדְיָןMidianעֵיפָהEphahוָעֵפֶרand Epherוַחֲנֹךְand Hanochוַאֲבִידָעand Abidaוְאֶלְדָּעָהand Eldaahכׇּל־אֵלֶּהall theseבְּנֵיthe sons ofקְטוּרָה׃Keturah

   And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abidah, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.

5. 5

   וַיִּתֵּןand gaveאַבְרָהָםAbrahamאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־לוֹall that he hadלְיִצְחָק׃for Isaac

   And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.

6. 6

   וְלִבְנֵיand to the sons ofהַפִּילַגְשִׁיםthe concubinesאֲשֶׁרwhichלְאַבְרָהָםunto AbrahamנָתַןgaveאַבְרָהָםAbrahamמַתָּנֹתgiftsוַיְשַׁלְּחֵםand he sent away themמֵעַלfrom uponיִצְחָקIsaacבְּנוֹhis sonבְּעוֹדֶנּוּwhile he still wasחַיlivingקֵדְמָהeastwardאֶל־אֶרֶץto the land ofקֶדֶם׃the east

   But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.

7. 7

   וְאֵלֶּהand theseיְמֵיthe days ofשְׁנֵי־חַיֵּיthe years of the life ofאַבְרָהָםAbrahamאֲשֶׁר־חָיwhich aliveמְאַתone hundredשָׁנָהyearsוְשִׁבְעִיםand seventyשָׁנָהyearsוְחָמֵשׁand fiveשָׁנִים׃years

   And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years.

8. 8

   וַיִּגְוַעand he gave up the ghostוַיָּמׇתand he diedאַבְרָהָםAbrahamבְּשֵׂיבָהin old ageטוֹבָהgoodזָקֵןoldוְשָׂבֵעַand satisfiedוַיֵּאָסֶףand he was gatheredאֶל־עַמָּיו׃to his people

   Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.

9. 9

   וַיִּקְבְּרוּand they buriedאֹתוֹhimיִצְחָקIsaacוְיִשְׁמָעֵאלand Ishmaelבָּנָיוhis sonsאֶל־מְעָרַתto the cave ofהַמַּכְפֵּלָהthe Machpelahאֶל־שְׂדֵהto the field ofעֶפְרֹןEphronבֶּן־צֹחַרson of Zoharהַחִתִּיthe Hittitesאֲשֶׁרwhichעַל־פְּנֵיupon the face ofמַמְרֵא׃Mamre

   And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre;

10. 10

    הַשָּׂדֶהthe fieldאֲשֶׁר־קָנָהwhich he acquiredאַבְרָהָםAbrahamמֵאֵתfromבְּנֵי־חֵתsons of Hethשָׁמָּהthereקֻבַּרhe was buriedאַבְרָהָםAbrahamוְשָׂרָהand Sarahאִשְׁתּוֹ׃his wife

    The field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth: there was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.

11. 11

    וַיְהִיand it came to passאַחֲרֵיafterמוֹתthe death ofאַבְרָהָםAbrahamוַיְבָרֶךְand blessedאֱלֹהִיםGodאֶת־יִצְחָקIsaacבְּנוֹhis sonוַיֵּשֶׁבand he dweltיִצְחָקIsaacעִם־בְּאֵרwith Beer-לַחַיlahai-רֹאִי׃roi

    And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahai-roi.

12. 12

    וְאֵלֶּהand theseתֹּלְדֹתthe accounts ofיִשְׁמָעֵאלIshmaelבֶּן־אַבְרָהָםson of Abrahamאֲשֶׁרwhichיָלְדָהshe boreהָגָרHagarהַמִּצְרִיתthe Egyptianשִׁפְחַתthe maidservant ofשָׂרָהSarahלְאַבְרָהָם׃unto Abraham

    Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, bare unto Abraham:

13. 13

    וְאֵלֶּהand theseשְׁמוֹתthe names ofבְּנֵיthe sons ofיִשְׁמָעֵאלIshmaelבִּשְׁמֹתָםby their namesלְתוֹלְדֹתָםby their generationsבְּכֹרthe firstborn ofיִשְׁמָעֵאלIshmaelנְבָיֹתNebaiothוְקֵדָרand Kedarוְאַדְבְּאֵלand Adbeelוּמִבְשָׂם׃and Mibsam

    And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,

14. 14

    וּמִשְׁמָעand Mishmaוְדוּמָהand Dumahוּמַשָּׂא׃and Massa

    And Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,

15. 15

    חֲדַדHadadוְתֵימָאand TemaיְטוּרJeturנָפִישׁNaphishוָקֵדְמָה׃and Kedemah

    Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:

16. 16

    אֵלֶּהtheseהֵםtheyבְּנֵיthe sons ofיִשְׁמָעֵאלIshmaelוְאֵלֶּהand theseשְׁמֹתָםtheir namesבְּחַצְרֵיהֶםby their villagesוּבְטִירֹתָםand by their encampmentsשְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרtwelveנְשִׂיאִםleadersלְאֻמֹּתָם׃by their tribes

    These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations.

17. 17

    וְאֵלֶּהand theseשְׁנֵיthe years ofחַיֵּיthe life ofיִשְׁמָעֵאלIshmaelמְאַתone hundredשָׁנָהyearsוּשְׁלֹשִׁיםand thirtyשָׁנָהyearsוְשֶׁבַעand sevenשָׁנִיםyearsוַיִּגְוַעand he gave up the ghostוַיָּמׇתand he diedוַיֵּאָסֶףand he was gatheredאֶל־עַמָּיו׃to his people

    And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died; and was gathered unto his people.

18. 18

    וַיִּשְׁכְּנוּand they dweltמֵחֲוִילָהfrom Havilahעַד־שׁוּרuntil Shurאֲשֶׁרwhichעַל־פְּנֵיupon the face ofמִצְרַיִםEgyptבֹּאֲכָהas you goאַשּׁוּרָהtoward Asshurעַל־פְּנֵיupon the face ofכׇל־אֶחָיוall his brothersנָפָל׃he settled

    And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren.

19. 19

    וְאֵלֶּהand theseתּוֹלְדֹתthe generations ofיִצְחָקIsaacבֶּן־אַבְרָהָםson of AbrahamאַבְרָהָםAbrahamהוֹלִידbegatאֶת־יִצְחָק׃Isaac

    And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham begat Isaac:

20. 20

    וַיְהִיand it came to passיִצְחָקIsaacבֶּן־אַרְבָּעִיםson of fortyשָׁנָהyearsבְּקַחְתּוֹwhen he tookאֶת־רִבְקָהRebekahבַּת־בְּתוּאֵלdaughter of Bethuelהָאֲרַמִּיthe Syrianמִפַּדַּןfrom Padan-אֲרָםaramאֲחוֹתthe sister ofלָבָןLabanהָאֲרַמִּיthe Syrianלוֹto himלְאִשָּׁה׃for wife

    And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan-aram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.

21. 21

    וַיֶּעְתַּרand he prayedיִצְחָקIsaacלַיהֹוָהto the LORDלְנֹכַחforאִשְׁתּוֹhis wifeכִּיbecauseעֲקָרָהbarrenהִואsheוַיֵּעָתֶרand he was entreatedלוֹto himיְהֹוָהthe LORDוַתַּהַרand she conceivedרִבְקָהRebekahאִשְׁתּוֹ׃his wife

    And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

22. 22

    וַיִּתְרֹצְצוּand they struggled togetherהַבָּנִיםthe sonsבְּקִרְבָּהּher withinוַתֹּאמֶרand saidאִם־כֵּןif soלָמָּהwhyזֶּהthisאָנֹכִיIוַתֵּלֶךְand she wentלִדְרֹשׁto inquire ofאֶת־יְהֹוָה׃the LORD

    And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD.

23. 23

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidיְהֹוָהthe LORDלָהּto herשְׁנֵיtwo[גוֹיִם]the nationsבְּבִטְנֵךְare in your wombוּשְׁנֵיand the twoלְאֻמִּיםpeoplesמִמֵּעַיִךְfrom your bodyיִפָּרֵדוּthey will separateוּלְאֹםand a peopleמִלְאֹםmore than a peopleיֶאֱמָץit will be strongוְרַבand the elderיַעֲבֹדhe shall serveצָעִיר׃the younger

    And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.

24. 24

    וַיִּמְלְאוּand they were completedיָמֶיהָher daysלָלֶדֶתto give birth toוְהִנֵּהand beholdתוֹמִםtwinsבְּבִטְנָהּ׃in her womb

    And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.

25. 25

    וַיֵּצֵאand went outהָרִאשׁוֹןthe firstאַדְמוֹנִיredכֻּלּוֹall overכְּאַדֶּרֶתlike a cloak ofשֵׂעָרhairוַיִּקְרְאוּand they calledשְׁמוֹhis nameעֵשָׂו׃Esau

    And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.

26. 26

    וְאַחֲרֵי־כֵןand after thusיָצָאhe went forthאָחִיוhis brotherוְיָדוֹand his handאֹחֶזֶתwas holdingבַּעֲקֵבon the heel ofעֵשָׂוEsauוַיִּקְרָאand calledשְׁמוֹhis nameיַעֲקֹבJacobוְיִצְחָקand Isaacבֶּן־שִׁשִּׁיםson of sixtyשָׁנָהyearsבְּלֶדֶתwhen boreאֹתָם׃them

    And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.

27. 27

    וַיִּגְדְּלוּand wax greatהַנְּעָרִיםthe boysוַיְהִיand it came to passעֵשָׂוEsauאִישׁa manיֹדֵעַskilled inצַיִדhuntingאִישׁa manשָׂדֶהfieldוְיַעֲקֹבand Jacobאִישׁa manתָּםquietיֹשֵׁבdwelling inאֹהָלִים׃tents

    And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.

28. 28

    וַיֶּאֱהַבand he lovedיִצְחָקIsaacאֶת־עֵשָׂוEsauכִּי־צַיִדbecause gameבְּפִיוin his mouthוְרִבְקָהand Rebekahאֹהֶבֶתwas lovingאֶת־יַעֲקֹב׃Jacob

    And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.

29. 29

    וַיָּזֶדand he had cookedיַעֲקֹבJacobנָזִידcooked foodוַיָּבֹאand cameעֵשָׂוEsauמִן־הַשָּׂדֶהfrom the fieldוְהוּאand heעָיֵף׃was faint

    And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:

30. 30

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidעֵשָׂוEsauאֶל־יַעֲקֹבto Jacobהַלְעִיטֵנִיlet swallow meנָאI prayמִן־הָאָדֹםof the redהָאָדֹםredהַזֶּהthisכִּיforעָיֵףfaintאָנֹכִיIעַל־כֵּןthereforeקָרָא־שְׁמוֹcalled his nameאֱדוֹם׃Edom

    And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.

31. 31

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidיַעֲקֹבJacobמִכְרָהsellכַיּוֹםthis dayאֶת־בְּכֹרָתְךָyour birthrightלִי׃to me

    And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.

32. 32

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidעֵשָׂוEsauהִנֵּהbeholdאָנֹכִיIהוֹלֵךְgoingלָמוּתto dieוְלָמָּה־זֶּהand why thisלִיto meבְּכֹרָה׃is a birthright

    And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?

33. 33

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidיַעֲקֹבJacobהִשָּׁבְעָהswearלִּיto meכַּיּוֹםthis dayוַיִּשָּׁבַעand sworeלוֹto himוַיִּמְכֹּרand he soldאֶת־בְּכֹרָתוֹhis birthrightלְיַעֲקֹב׃to Jacob

    And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.

34. 34

    וְיַעֲקֹבand Jacobנָתַןgaveלְעֵשָׂוto Esauלֶחֶםbreadוּנְזִידand cooked food ofעֲדָשִׁיםlentilsוַיֹּאכַלand he ateוַיֵּשְׁתְּand he drankוַיָּקׇםand rose upוַיֵּלַךְand he departedוַיִּבֶזand he despisedעֵשָׂוEsauאֶת־הַבְּכֹרָה׃the birthright

    Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.
