   And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the LORD had blessed Abraham in all things.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamאֶל־עַבְדּוֹel-av/DOto his servantזְקַןze/KANthe eldest ofבֵּיתוֹbe/TOhis houseהַמֹּשֵׁלham/mo/SHELthat ruledבְּכׇל־אֲשֶׁר־לוֹbe/KHOL-a/SHER-loover all that he hadשִׂים־נָאsim-naput I prayיָדְךָya/de/KHAyour handתַּחַתTA/chatunderיְרֵכִי׃ye/re/KHImy thigh

   And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh:

   וְאַשְׁבִּיעֲךָve/ash/bi/a/KHAand I will make you swearבַּיהֹוָהba-Adonaiby the LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensוֵאלֹהֵיve/lo/HEand the God ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe earthאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹא־תִקַּחlo-tik/KACHyou shall not takeאִשָּׁהish/SHAa wifeלִבְנִיliv/NIfor my sonמִבְּנוֹתmib/be/NOTof the daughters ofהַכְּנַעֲנִיhak/Ke/na/a/NIthe Canaaniteאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIיוֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVdwellבְּקִרְבּוֹ׃be/kir/BOamong them

   And I will make thee swear by the LORD, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell:

   כִּיkibutאֶל־אַרְצִיel-ar/TSIto my countryוְאֶל־מוֹלַדְתִּיve/EL-mo/lad/TIand to my kindredתֵּלֵךְte/LEKHyou shall goוְלָקַחְתָּve/la/kach/TAand takeאִשָּׁהish/SHAa wifeלִבְנִיliv/NIfor my sonלְיִצְחָק׃le/Yits/CHAKfor Isaac

   But thou shalt go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהָעֶבֶדha/E/vedthe servantאוּלַיu/LAYperhapsלֹא־תֹאבֶהlo-to/VEwill not be willingהָאִשָּׁהha/ish/SHAthe womanלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetto goאַחֲרַיa/cha/RAYafter meאֶל־הָאָרֶץel-ha/A/retsunto the landהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisהֶהָשֵׁבhe/ha/SHEVbring backאָשִׁיבa/SHIVshall I bring backאֶת־בִּנְךָet-bin/KHAyour sonאֶל־הָאָרֶץel-ha/A/retsunto the landאֲשֶׁר־יָצָאתָa/SHER-ya/TSA/tawhich you came outמִשָּׁם׃mish/SHAMfrom there

   And the servant said unto him, Peradventure the woman will not be willing to follow me unto this land: must I needs bring thy son again unto the land from whence thou camest?

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamהִשָּׁמֶרhish/SHA/merbewareלְךָle/KHAyouפֶּן־תָּשִׁיבpen-ta/SHIVthat you bring not backאֶת־בְּנִיet-be/NImy sonשָׁמָּה׃SHAM/mathere

   And Abraham said unto him, Beware thou that thou bring not my son thither again.

   The LORD God of heaven, which took me from my father's house, and from the land of my kindred, and which spake unto me, and that sware unto me, saying, Unto thy seed will I give this land; he shall send his angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife unto my son from thence.

   וְאִם־לֹאve/IM-loand if notתֹאבֶהto/VEbe willingהָאִשָּׁהha/ish/SHAthe womanלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetto goאַחֲרֶיךָa/cha/RE/khaafter youוְנִקִּיתָve/nik/KI/tathen you shall be clearמִשְּׁבֻעָתִיmish/she/vu/a/TIfrom my oathזֹאתzotthisרַקrakonlyאֶת־בְּנִיet-be/NImy sonלֹאlonotתָשֵׁבta/SHEVbring backשָׁמָּה׃SHAM/mathere

   And if the woman will not be willing to follow thee, then thou shalt be clear from this my oath: only bring not my son thither again.

   וַיָּשֶׂםvay/YA/semand putהָעֶבֶדha/E/vedthe servantאֶת־יָדוֹet-ya/DOhis handתַּחַתTA/chatunderיֶרֶךְYE/rekhthe thigh ofאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamאֲדֹנָיוa/do/NAYVhis masterוַיִּשָּׁבַעvay/yish/sha/VAand sworeלוֹloto himעַל־הַדָּבָרal-had/da/VARconcerning matterהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

   And the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and sware to him concerning that matter.

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookהָעֶבֶדha/E/vedthe servantעֲשָׂרָהa/sa/RAtenגְמַלִּיםge/mal/LIMcamelsמִגְּמַלֵּיmig/ge/mal/LEfrom the camels ofאֲדֹנָיוa/do/NAYVhis masterוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand departedוְכׇל־טוּבve/KHOL-tuvand all the goods ofאֲדֹנָיוa/do/NAYVhis masterבְּיָדוֹbe/ya/DOin his handוַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand rose upוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand departedאֶל־אֲרַםel-A/RAMto Aram-נַהֲרַיִםna/ha/RA/yimnaharaimאֶל־עִירel-irto the city ofנָחוֹר׃Na/CHORNahor

    And the servant took ten camels of the camels of his master, and departed; for all the goods of his master were in his hand: and he arose, and went to Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor.

    וַיַּבְרֵךְvay/yav/REKHand he made kneelהַגְּמַלִּיםhag/ge/mal/LIMthe camelsמִחוּץmi/CHUTSwithoutלָעִירla/IRthe cityאֶל־בְּאֵרel-be/ERby a well ofהַמָּיִםham/MA/yimthe waterלְעֵתle/ETat the time ofעֶרֶבE/reveveningלְעֵתle/ETat the time ofצֵאתtsetthat go outהַשֹּׁאֲבֹת׃hash/sho/a/VOTwomen that draw water

    And he made his camels to kneel down without the city by a well of water at the time of the evening, even the time that women go out to draw water.

12. 12

    וַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy masterאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamהַקְרֵה־נָאhak/RE-nacause to happen I prayלְפָנַיle/fa/NAYbefore meהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthis dayוַעֲשֵׂה־חֶסֶדva/a/SE-CHE/sedand show kindnessעִםimtoאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy masterאַבְרָהָם׃Av/ra/HAMAbraham

    And he said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham.

13. 13

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIנִצָּבnits/TSAVstandעַל־עֵיןal-enby the fountain ofהַמָּיִםham/MA/yimwaterוּבְנוֹתu/ve/NOTand the daughters ofאַנְשֵׁיan/SHEthe men ofהָעִירha/IRthe cityיֹצְאֹתyots/OTcome outלִשְׁאֹבlish/OVto drawמָיִם׃MA/yimwater

    Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water:

14. 14

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand let it beהַנַּעֲרָhan/na/a/RAthe damselאֲשֶׁרa/SHERto whomאֹמַרo/MARI shall sayאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herהַטִּי־נָאhat/TI-nalet down I prayכַדֵּךְkhad/DEKHyour pitcherוְאֶשְׁתֶּהve/esh/TEthat I may drinkוְאָמְרָהve/a/me/RAand she shall sayשְׁתֵהshe/TEdrinkוְגַם־גְּמַלֶּיךָve/GAM-ge/mal/LE/khaand also your camelsאַשְׁקֶהash/KEI will give drinkאֹתָהּo/TAherהֹכַחְתָּho/KHACH/taYou have appointedלְעַבְדְּךָle/av/de/KHAfor Your servantלְיִצְחָקle/Yits/CHAKfor Isaacוּבָהּu/VAand therebyאֵדַעe/DAshall I knowכִּי־עָשִׂיתָki-a/SI/tathat You have shownחֶסֶדCHE/sedkindnessעִם־אֲדֹנִי׃im-a/do/NIto my master

    And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master.

    וַיְהִי־הוּאvay/HI-huand it came to pass heטֶרֶםTE/rembeforeכִּלָּהkil/LAhad doneלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERspeakingוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdרִבְקָהRiv/KARebekahיֹצֵאתyo/TSETcame outאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoיֻלְּדָהyul/le/DAwas bornלִבְתוּאֵלLiv/tu/ELto Bethuelבֶּן־מִלְכָּהben-Mil/KAthe son of MilcahאֵשֶׁתE/shetthe wife ofנָחוֹרNa/CHORNahorאֲחִיa/CHIthe brother ofאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamוְכַדָּהּve/khad/DAwith her pitcherעַל־שִׁכְמָהּ׃al-shikh/MAupon her shoulder

    And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder.

16. 16

    וְהַנַּעֲרָve/han/na/a/RAand the damselטֹבַתto/VATfair ofמַרְאֶהmar/Eappearanceמְאֹדme/ODveryבְּתוּלָהbe/tu/LAa virginוְאִישׁve/ISHand a manלֹאlonotיְדָעָהּye/da/Ahad known herוַתֵּרֶדvat/TE/redand she went downהָעַיְנָהha/AY/nato the wellוַתְּמַלֵּאvat/te/mal/LEand filledכַדָּהּkhad/DAher pitcherוַתָּעַל׃vat/TA/aland she came up

    And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up.

17. 17

    וַיָּרׇץvay/YA/rotsand he ranהָעֶבֶדha/E/vedthe servantלִקְרָאתָהּlik/ra/TAto meet herוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַגְמִיאִינִיhag/mi/I/nilet me drinkנָאnaI prayמְעַט־מַיִםme/AT-MA/yima little waterמִכַּדֵּךְ׃mik/kad/DEKHof your pitcher

    And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray thee, drink a little water of thy pitcher.

18. 18

    וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidשְׁתֵהshe/TEdrinkאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordוַתְּמַהֵרvat/te/ma/HERand she hastenedוַתֹּרֶדvat/TO/redand let downכַּדָּהּkad/DAher pitcherעַל־יָדָהּal-ya/DAupon her handוַתַּשְׁקֵהוּ׃vat/tash/KE/huand gave him drink

    And she said, Drink, my lord: and she hasted, and let down her pitcher upon her hand, and gave him drink.

19. 19

    וַתְּכַלvat/te/KHALand she finishedלְהַשְׁקֹתוֹle/hash/ko/TOgiving him drinkוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidגַּםgamalsoלִגְמַלֶּיךָlig/mal/LE/khafor your camelsאֶשְׁאָבesh/AVI will drawעַדaduntilאִם־כִּלּוּim-kil/LUthey have doneלִשְׁתֹּת׃lish/TOTdrinking

    And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking.

20. 20

    וַתְּמַהֵרvat/te/ma/HERand she hastenedוַתְּעַרvat/te/ARand she emptiedכַּדָּהּkad/DAher pitcherאֶל־הַשֹּׁקֶתel-hash/SHO/ketinto the troughוַתָּרׇץvat/TA/rotsand she ranעוֹדodagainאֶל־הַבְּאֵרel-hab/be/ERto the wellלִשְׁאֹבlish/OVto drawוַתִּשְׁאַבvat/tish/AVand drewלְכׇל־גְּמַלָּיו׃le/KHOL-ge/mal/LAYVto all his camels

    And she hasted, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again unto the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels.

21. 21

    וְהָאִישׁve/ha/ISHand the manמִשְׁתָּאֵהmish/ta/Ewonderingלָהּlaat herמַחֲרִישׁma/cha/RISHheld his peaceלָדַעַתla/DA/atto knowהַהִצְלִיחַha/hits/LI/achwhether had made prosperousיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDדַּרְכּוֹdar/KOhis journeyאִם־לֹא׃im-loor not

    And the man wondering at her held his peace, to wit whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not.

22. 22

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasכִּלּוּkil/LUhad finishedהַגְּמַלִּיםhag/ge/mal/LIMthe camelsלִשְׁתּוֹתlish/TOTto drinkוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manנֶזֶםNE/zema ring ofזָהָבza/HAVgoldבֶּקַעBE/kaa bekaמִשְׁקָלוֹmish/ka/LOits weightוּשְׁנֵיu/she/NEand twoצְמִידִיםtse/mi/DIMbraceletsעַל־יָדֶיהָal-ya/DE/haon her handsעֲשָׂרָהa/sa/RAtenזָהָבza/HAVgoldמִשְׁקָלָם׃mish/ka/LAMtheir weight

    And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold;

23. 23

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidבַּת־מִיbat-miwhose daughterאַתְּattare youהַגִּידִיhag/GI/ditellנָאnaI prayלִיlito meהֲיֵשׁha/YESHis thereבֵּית־אָבִיךְbet-a/VIKHin your father's houseמָקוֹםma/KOMa placeלָנוּLA/nufor usלָלִין׃la/LINto lodge in

    And said, Whose daughter art thou? tell me, I pray thee: is there room in thy father's house for us to lodge in?

24. 24

    וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himבַּת־בְּתוּאֵלbat-Be/tu/ELthe daughter of Bethuelאָנֹכִיa/no/KHII amבֶּן־מִלְכָּהben-Mil/KAthe son of Milcahאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomיָלְדָהya/le/DAshe boreלְנָחוֹר׃le/Na/CHORto Nahor

    And she said unto him, I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, which she bare unto Nahor.

25. 25

    וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himגַּם־תֶּבֶןgam-TE/venboth strawגַּם־מִסְפּוֹאgam-mis/POand provenderרַבravenoughעִמָּנוּim/MA/nuwith usגַּם־מָקוֹםgam-ma/KOMand roomלָלוּן׃la/LUNto lodge

    She said moreover unto him, We have both straw and provender enough, and room to lodge in.

26. 26

    וַיִּקֹּדvay/yik/KODand bowed his headהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manוַיִּשְׁתַּחוּvay/yish/TA/chuand bowed himselfלַיהֹוָה׃la-Adonaito the LORD

    And the man bowed down his head, and worshipped the LORD.

27. 27

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidבָּרוּךְba/RUKHblessedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy masterאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹא־עָזַבlo-a/ZAVhas not forsakenחַסְדּוֹchas/DOHis mercyוַאֲמִתּוֹva/a/mit/TOand His truthמֵעִםme/IMfromאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy masterאָנֹכִיa/no/KHII beingבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhin the wayנָחַנִיna/CHA/niled meיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבֵּיתbetto the house ofאֲחֵיa/CHEthe brethren ofאֲדֹנִי׃a/do/NImy master

    And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master's brethren.

28. 28

    וַתָּרׇץvat/TA/rotsand she ranהַנַּעֲרָhan/na/a/RAthe damselוַתַּגֵּדvat/tag/GEDand toldלְבֵיתle/VETto the house ofאִמָּהּim/MAher motherכַּדְּבָרִיםkad/de/va/RIMaccording to the thingsהָאֵלֶּה׃ha/EL/lethese

    And the damsel ran, and told them of her mother's house these things.

29. 29

    וּלְרִבְקָהu/Le/riv/KAand to Rebekahאָחacha brotherוּשְׁמוֹu/she/MOand his nameלָבָןLa/VANLabanוַיָּרׇץvay/YA/rotsand he ranלָבָןLa/VANLabanאֶל־הָאִישׁel-ha/ISHto the manהַחוּצָהha/CHU/tsaoutאֶל־הָעָיִן׃el-ha/A/yinto the well

    And Rebekah had a brother, and his name was Laban: and Laban ran out unto the man, unto the well.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכִּרְאֹתkir/OTwhen he sawאֶת־הַנֶּזֶםet-han/NE/zemthe ringוְאֶת־הַצְּמִדִיםve/ET-hats/tse/mi/DIMand the braceletsעַל־יְדֵיal-ye/DEon the hands ofאֲחֹתוֹa/cho/TOhis sisterוּכְשׇׁמְעוֹu/khe/shom/Oand when he heardאֶת־דִּבְרֵיet-div/REthe words ofרִבְקָהRiv/KARebekahאֲחֹתוֹa/cho/TOhis sisterלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingכֹּה־דִבֶּרko-dib/BERthus spokeאֵלַיe/LAYto meהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameאֶל־הָאִישׁel-ha/ISHto the manוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdעֹמֵדo/MEDhe stoodעַל־הַגְּמַלִּיםal-hag/ge/mal/LIMby the camelsעַל־הָעָיִן׃al-ha/A/yinat the well

    And it came to pass, when he saw the earring and bracelets upon his sister's hands, and when he heard the words of Rebekah his sister, saying, Thus spake the man unto me; that he came unto the man; and, behold, he stood by the camels at the well.

31. 31

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidבּוֹאbocome inבְּרוּךְbe/RUKHyou blessed ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלָמָּהLAM/mawhyתַעֲמֹדta/a/MODdo you standבַּחוּץba/CHUTSwithoutוְאָנֹכִיve/a/no/KHIfor Iפִּנִּיתִיpin/NI/tihave preparedהַבַּיִתhab/BA/yitthe houseוּמָקוֹםu/ma/KOMand a placeלַגְּמַלִּים׃lag/ge/mal/LIMfor the camels

    And he said, Come in, thou blessed of the LORD; wherefore standest thou without? for I have prepared the house, and room for the camels.

32. 32

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manהַבַּיְתָהhab/BAY/tainto the houseוַיְפַתַּחvay/fat/TACHand he ungirdedהַגְּמַלִּיםhag/ge/mal/LIMthe camelsוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand gaveתֶּבֶןTE/venstrawוּמִסְפּוֹאu/mis/POand fodderלַגְּמַלִּיםlag/ge/mal/LIMfor the camelsוּמַיִםu/MA/yimand waterלִרְחֹץlir/CHOTSto washרַגְלָיוrag/LAYVhis feetוְרַגְלֵיve/rag/LEand the feet ofהָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMthe menאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat wereאִתּוֹ׃it/TOwith him

    And the man came into the house: and he ungirded his camels, and gave straw and provender for the camels, and water to wash his feet, and the men's feet that were with him.

33. 33

    (ויישם)vayayasham[וַיּוּשַׂם]vay/yu/SAMand was setלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore himלֶאֱכֹלle/e/KHOLto eatוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלֹאlonotאֹכַלo/KHALwill I eatעַדaduntilאִם־דִּבַּרְתִּיim-dib/BAR/tiI have toldדְּבָרָיde/va/RAYmy errandוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidדַּבֵּר׃dab/BERspeak on

    And there was set meat before him to eat: but he said, I will not eat, until I have told mine errand. And he said, Speak on.

    And he said, I am Abraham's servant.

35. 35

    וַיהֹוָהve-Adonaiand the LORDבֵּרַךְbe/RAKHblessedאֶת־אֲדֹנִיet-a/do/NImy masterמְאֹדme/ODgreatlyוַיִּגְדָּלvay/yig/DALand he is become greatוַיִּתֶּן־לוֹvay/YIT/ten-loand He has given himצֹאןtsonflocksוּבָקָרu/va/KARand herdsוְכֶסֶףve/KHE/sefand silverוְזָהָבve/za/HAVand goldוַעֲבָדִםva/a/va/DIMand menservantsוּשְׁפָחֹתu/she/fa/CHOTand maidservantsוּגְמַלִּיםu/ge/mal/LIMand camelsוַחֲמֹרִים׃va/cha/mo/RIMand asses

    And the LORD hath blessed my master greatly; and he is become great: and he hath given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and asses.

36. 36

    וַתֵּלֶדvat/TE/ledand boreשָׂרָהSa/RASarahאֵשֶׁתE/shetthe wife ofאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy masterבֵןvena sonלַאדֹנִיla/do/NIto my masterאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterזִקְנָתָהּzik/na/TAher old ageוַיִּתֶּן־לוֹvay/YIT/ten-loand he has given to himאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־לוֹ׃et-kol-a/SHER-loall that he had

    And Sarah my master's wife bare a son to my master when she was old: and unto him hath he given all that he hath.

37. 37

    וַיַּשְׁבִּעֵנִיvay/yash/bi/E/niand made me swearאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy masterלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingלֹא־תִקַּחlo-tik/KACHyou shall not takeאִשָּׁהish/SHAa wifeלִבְנִיliv/NIfor my sonמִבְּנוֹתmib/be/NOTof the daughters ofהַכְּנַעֲנִיhak/Ke/na/a/NIthe Canaaniteאֲשֶׁרa/SHERin whoseאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIיֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVdwellבְּאַרְצוֹ׃be/ar/TSOin his land

    And my master made me swear, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell:

38. 38

    אִם־לֹאim-lobutאֶל־בֵּית־אָבִיel-bet-a/VIto my father's houseתֵּלֵךְte/LEKHyou shall goוְאֶל־מִשְׁפַּחְתִּיve/EL-mish/pach/TIand to my kindredוְלָקַחְתָּve/la/kach/TAand takeאִשָּׁהish/SHAa wifeלִבְנִי׃liv/NIfor my son

    But thou shalt go unto my father's house, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son.

39. 39

    וָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidאֶל־אֲדֹנִיel-a/do/NIto my masterאֻלַיu/LAYperhapsלֹא־תֵלֵךְlo-te/LEKHwill not goהָאִשָּׁהha/ish/SHAthe womanאַחֲרָי׃a/cha/RAYafter me

    And I said unto my master, Peradventure the woman will not follow me.

40. 40

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיe/LAYto meיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֲשֶׁר־הִתְהַלַּכְתִּיa/SHER-hit/hal/LAKH/tiwhom I walkלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore Himיִשְׁלַחyish/LACHhe will sendמַלְאָכוֹmal/a/KHOHis angelאִתָּךְit/TAKHwith youוְהִצְלִיחַve/hits/LI/achand prosperדַּרְכֶּךָdar/KE/khayour wayוְלָקַחְתָּve/la/kach/TAand you shall takeאִשָּׁהish/SHAa wifeלִבְנִיliv/NIfor my sonמִמִּשְׁפַּחְתִּיmim/mish/pach/TIof my kindredוּמִבֵּיתu/mib/BETand of the house ofאָבִי׃a/VImy father

    And he said unto me, The LORD, before whom I walk, will send his angel with thee, and prosper thy way; and thou shalt take a wife for my son of my kindred, and of my father's house:

41. 41

    אָזazthenתִּנָּקֶהtin/na/KEshall you be clearמֵאָלָתִיme/a/la/TIfrom my oathכִּיkiwhenתָבוֹאta/VOyou comeאֶל־מִשְׁפַּחְתִּיel-mish/pach/TIto my kindredוְאִם־לֹאve/IM-loand if notיִתְּנוּyit/te/NUthey giveלָךְlakhyou oneוְהָיִיתָve/ha/YI/taand you shall beנָקִיna/KIclearמֵאָלָתִי׃me/a/la/TIfrom my oath

    Then shalt thou be clear from this my oath, when thou comest to my kindred; and if they give not thee one, thou shalt be clear from my oath.

42. 42

    וָאָבֹאva/a/VOand I cameהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthis dayאֶל־הָעָיִןel-ha/A/yinto the wellוָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy masterאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamאִם־יֶשְׁךָ־נָּאim-yesh/KHA-naif now You doמַצְלִיחַmats/LI/achprosperדַּרְכִּיdar/KImy wayאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIהֹלֵךְho/LEKHgoעָלֶיהָ׃a/LE/haon it

    And I came this day unto the well, and said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, if now thou do prosper my way which I go:

43. 43

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIנִצָּבnits/TSAVstandעַל־עֵיןal-enby the well ofהַמָּיִםham/MA/yimthe waterוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand let it beהָעַלְמָהha/al/MAthe maidenהַיֹּצֵאתhay/yo/TSETthat comes forthלִשְׁאֹבlish/OVto drawוְאָמַרְתִּיve/a/mar/TIand I will sayאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herהַשְׁקִינִי־נָאhash/KI/ni-nagive me I pray to drinkמְעַט־מַיִםme/AT-MA/yima little waterמִכַּדֵּךְ׃mik/kad/DEKHof your pitcher

    Behold, I stand by the well of water; and it shall come to pass, that when the virgin cometh forth to draw water, and I say to her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water of thy pitcher to drink;

44. 44

    וְאָמְרָהve/a/me/RAand she will sayאֵלַיe/LAYto meגַּם־אַתָּהgam-at/TAboth youשְׁתֵהshe/TEdrinkוְגַםve/GAMand alsoלִגְמַלֶּיךָlig/mal/LE/khafor your camelsאֶשְׁאָבesh/AVwill I drawהִואhivlet the same beהָאִשָּׁהha/ish/SHAthe womanאֲשֶׁר־הֹכִיחַa/SHER-ho/KHI/achwhom has appointedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלְבֶן־אֲדֹנִי׃le/VEN-a/do/NIfor my master's son

    And she say to me, Both drink thou, and I will also draw for thy camels: let the same be the woman whom the LORD hath appointed out for my master's son.

45. 45

    אֲנִיa/NIIטֶרֶםTE/rembeforeאֲכַלֶּהa/khal/LEI had doneלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERspeakingאֶל־לִבִּיel-lib/BIin my heartוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdרִבְקָהRiv/KARebekahיֹצֵאתyo/TSETcame forthוְכַדָּהּve/khad/DAwith her pitcherעַל־שִׁכְמָהּal-shikh/MAon her shoulderוַתֵּרֶדvat/TE/redand she went downהָעַיְנָהha/AY/nato the wellוַתִּשְׁאָבvat/tish/AVand drewוָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herהַשְׁקִינִיhash/KI/nilet me drinkנָא׃naI pray

    And before I had done speaking in mine heart, behold, Rebekah came forth with her pitcher on her shoulder; and she went down unto the well, and drew water: and I said unto her, Let me drink, I pray thee.

46. 46

    וַתְּמַהֵרvat/te/ma/HERand she hastenedוַתּוֹרֶדvat/TO/redand let downכַּדָּהּkad/DAher pitcherמֵעָלֶיהָme/a/LE/hafrom her shoulderוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidשְׁתֵהshe/TEdrinkוְגַם־גְּמַלֶּיךָve/GAM-ge/mal/LE/khaand also your camelsאַשְׁקֶהash/KEI will give drinkוָאֵשְׁתְּva/ESHTand I drankוְגַםve/GAMand alsoהַגְּמַלִּיםhag/ge/mal/LIMthe camelsהִשְׁקָתָה׃hish/KA/tashe gave drink

    And she made haste, and let down her pitcher from her shoulder, and said, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: so I drank, and she made the camels drink also.

47. 47

    וָאֶשְׁאַלva/esh/ALand I askedאֹתָהּo/TAherוָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidבַּת־מִיbat-miwhose daughterאַתְּattare youוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidבַּת־בְּתוּאֵלbat-Be/tu/ELthe daughter of Bethuelבֶּן־נָחוֹרben-Na/CHORNahor's sonאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomיָלְדָה־לּוֹya/le/DA-lobore to himמִלְכָּהMil/KAMilcahוָאָשִׂםva/a/SIMand I putהַנֶּזֶםhan/NE/zemthe ringעַל־אַפָּהּal-ap/PAupon her noseוְהַצְּמִידִיםve/hats/tse/mi/DIMand the braceletsעַל־יָדֶיהָ׃al-ya/DE/haon her hands

    And I asked her, and said, Whose daughter art thou? And she said, The daughter of Bethuel, Nahor's son, whom Milcah bare unto him: and I put the earring upon her face, and the bracelets upon her hands.

48. 48

    וָאֶקֹּדva/ek/KODand I bowed my headוָאֶשְׁתַּחֲוֶהva/esh/ta/cha/VEand worshippedלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDוָאֲבָרֵךְva/a/va/REKHand I blessedאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy masterאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהִנְחַנִיhin/CHA/nihe had led meבְּדֶרֶךְbe/DE/rekhin the way ofאֱמֶתe/METtruthלָקַחַתla/KA/chatto takeאֶת־בַּת־אֲחִיet-bat-a/CHIthe daughter of the brother ofאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy masterלִבְנוֹ׃liv/NOfor his son

    And I bowed down my head, and worshipped the LORD, and blessed the LORD God of my master Abraham, which had led me in the right way to take my master's brother's daughter unto his son.

49. 49

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאִם־יֶשְׁכֶםim-yesh/KHEMif you willעֹשִׂיםo/SIMdealחֶסֶדCHE/sedkindlyוֶאֱמֶתve/e/METand trulyאֶת־אֲדֹנִיet-a/do/NIwith my masterהַגִּידוּhag/GI/dutellלִיlito meוְאִם־לֹאve/IM-loand if notהַגִּידוּhag/GI/dutellלִיlito meוְאֶפְנֶהve/ef/NEthat I may turnעַל־יָמִיןal-ya/MINto the right handאוֹoorעַל־שְׂמֹאל׃al-se/MOLto the left

    And now if ye will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me: and if not, tell me; that I may turn to the right hand, or to the left.

50. 50

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredלָבָןLa/VANLabanוּבְתוּאֵלu/ve/Tu/ELand Bethuelוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidמֵיְהֹוָהme-Adonaifrom the LORDיָצָאya/TSAproceedsהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe thingלֹאlonotנוּכַלnu/KHALcan weדַּבֵּרdab/BERspeakאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youרַעraevilאוֹ־טוֹב׃o-tovor good

    Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, The thing proceedeth from the LORD: we cannot speak unto thee bad or good.

51. 51

    הִנֵּה־רִבְקָהhin/NE-Riv/KAbehold Rebekah isלְפָנֶיךָle/fa/NE/khabefore youקַחkachtakeוָלֵךְva/LEKHand goוּתְהִיu/te/HIand let her beאִשָּׁהish/SHAwifeלְבֶן־אֲדֹנֶיךָle/VEN-a/do/NE/khaof your master's sonכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasדִּבֶּרdib/BERhas spokenיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    Behold, Rebekah is before thee, take her, and go, and let her be thy master's son's wife, as the LORD hath spoken.

52. 52

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasשָׁמַעsha/MAheardעֶבֶדE/vedthe servant ofאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamאֶת־דִּבְרֵיהֶםet-div/re/HEMtheir wordsוַיִּשְׁתַּחוּvay/yish/TA/chuand bowed himselfאַרְצָהAR/tsato the earthלַיהֹוָה׃la-Adonaito the LORD

    And it came to pass, that, when Abraham's servant heard their words, he worshipped the LORD, bowing himself to the earth.

53. 53

    וַיּוֹצֵאvay/yo/TSEand brought forthהָעֶבֶדha/E/vedthe servantכְּלֵי־כֶסֶףke/LE-KHE/sefvessels of silverוּכְלֵיu/khe/LEand vessels ofזָהָבza/HAVgoldוּבְגָדִיםu/ve/ga/DIMand garmentsוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand gaveלְרִבְקָהle/Riv/KAto Rebekahוּמִגְדָּנֹתu/mig/da/NOTand precious thingsנָתַןna/TANhe gaveלְאָחִיהָle/a/CHI/hato her brotherוּלְאִמָּהּ׃u/le/im/MAand to her mother

    And the servant brought forth jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment, and gave them to Rebekah: he gave also to her brother and to her mother precious things.

54. 54

    וַיֹּאכְלוּvay/yo/khe/LUand they ateוַיִּשְׁתּוּvay/yish/TUand drankהוּאhuheוְהָאֲנָשִׁיםve/ha/a/na/SHIMand the menאֲשֶׁר־עִמּוֹa/SHER-im/MOthat were with himוַיָּלִינוּvay/ya/LI/nuand tarried all nightוַיָּקוּמוּvay/ya/KU/muand they rose upבַבֹּקֶרvab/BO/kerin the morningוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשַׁלְּחֻנִיshal/le/CHU/nisend me awayלַאדֹנִי׃la/do/NIto my master

    And they did eat and drink, he and the men that were with him, and tarried all night; and they rose up in the morning, and he said, Send me away unto my master.

55. 55

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאָחִיהָa/CHI/haher brotherוְאִמָּהּve/im/MAand her motherתֵּשֵׁבte/SHEVlet abideהַנַּעֲרָhan/na/a/RAthe damselאִתָּנוּit/TA/nuwith usיָמִיםya/MIMdaysאוֹoorעָשׂוֹרa/SORtenאַחַרa/CHARafter thatתֵּלֵךְ׃te/LEKHshe shall go

    And her brother and her mother said, Let the damsel abide with us a few days, at the least ten; after that she shall go.

56. 56

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵהֶםa/le/HEMto themאַל־תְּאַחֲרוּal-te/a/cha/RUhinder notאֹתִיo/TImeוַיהֹוָהve-Adonaiand the LORDהִצְלִיחַhits/LI/achhas prosperedדַּרְכִּיdar/KImy wayשַׁלְּחוּנִיshal/le/CHU/nisend me awayוְאֵלְכָהve/el/KHAthat I may goלַאדֹנִי׃la/do/NIto my master

    And he said unto them, Hinder me not, seeing the LORD hath prospered my way; send me away that I may go to my master.

57. 57

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidנִקְרָאnik/RAwe will callלַנַּעֲרָlan/na/a/RAthe damselוְנִשְׁאֲלָהve/nish/a/LAand inquire atאֶת־פִּיהָ׃et-PI/haher mouth

    And they said, We will call the damsel, and enquire at her mouth.

58. 58

    וַיִּקְרְאוּvay/yik/re/Uand they calledלְרִבְקָהLe/riv/KARebekahוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herהֲתֵלְכִיha/tel/KHIwill you goעִם־הָאִישׁim-ha/ISHwith the manהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidאֵלֵךְ׃e/LEKHI will go

    And they called Rebekah, and said unto her, Wilt thou go with this man? And she said, I will go.

59. 59

    וַיְשַׁלְּחוּvay/shal/le/CHUand they sent awayאֶת־רִבְקָהet-Riv/KARebekahאֲחֹתָםa/cho/TAMtheir sisterוְאֶת־מֵנִקְתָּהּve/ET-me/nik/TAand her nurseוְאֶת־עֶבֶדve/ET-E/vedand the servant ofאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamוְאֶת־אֲנָשָׁיו׃ve/ET-a/na/SHAYVand his men

    And they sent away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and Abraham's servant, and his men.

60. 60

    וַיְבָרְכוּvay/va/re/KHUand they blessedאֶת־רִבְקָהet-Riv/KARebekahוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidלָהּlato herאֲחֹתֵנוּa/cho/TE/nuour sisterאַתְּattyouהֲיִיha/YIbeלְאַלְפֵיle/al/FEthousands ofרְבָבָהre/va/VAmyriadsוְיִירַשׁve/yi/RASHand let possessזַרְעֵךְzar/EKHyour seedאֵת־שַׁעַרet-SHA/arthe gate ofשֹׂנְאָיו׃son/AYVthose who hate them

    And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou art our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess the gate of those which hate them.

61. 61

    וַתָּקׇםvat/TA/komand aroseרִבְקָהRiv/KARebekahוְנַעֲרֹתֶיהָve/na/a/ro/TE/haand her damselsוַתִּרְכַּבְנָהvat/tir/KAV/naand they rodeעַל־הַגְּמַלִּיםal-hag/ge/mal/LIMupon the camelsוַתֵּלַכְנָהvat/te/LAKH/naand they wentאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookהָעֶבֶדha/E/vedthe servantאֶת־רִבְקָהet-Riv/KARebekahוַיֵּלַךְ׃vay/ye/LAKHand went his way

    And Rebekah arose, and her damsels, and they rode upon the camels, and followed the man: and the servant took Rebekah, and went his way.

62. 62

    וְיִצְחָקve/Yits/CHAKand Isaacבָּאbacameמִבּוֹאmib/BOfrom coming toבְּאֵרBe/ERBeer-לַחַיla/CHAYlahai-רֹאִיRO/iroiוְהוּאve/HUfor heיוֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVdweltבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofהַנֶּגֶב׃han/NE/gevthe Negev

    And Isaac came from the way of the well Lahai-roi; for he dwelt in the south country.

63. 63

    וַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outיִצְחָקYits/CHAKIsaacלָשׂוּחַla/SU/achto meditateבַּשָּׂדֶהbas/sa/DEin the fieldלִפְנוֹתlif/NOTat the turning ofעָרֶבA/reveveningוַיִּשָּׂאvay/yis/SAand he lifted upעֵינָיוe/NAYVhis eyesוַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdגְמַלִּיםge/mal/LIMcamelsבָּאִים׃ba/IMwere coming

    And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming.

64. 64

    וַתִּשָּׂאvat/tis/SAand she lifted upרִבְקָהRiv/KARebekahאֶת־עֵינֶיהָet-e/NE/haher eyesוַתֵּרֶאvat/TE/reand sawאֶת־יִצְחָקet-Yits/CHAKIsaacוַתִּפֹּלvat/tip/POLand she lighted offמֵעַלme/ALfromהַגָּמָל׃hag/ga/MALthe camel

    And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off the camel.

65. 65

    וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidאֶל־הָעֶבֶדel-ha/E/vedto the servantמִי־הָאִישׁmi-ha/ISHwhat man isהַלָּזֶהhal/la/ZEthisהַהֹלֵךְha/ho/LEKHthat walksבַּשָּׂדֶהbas/sa/DEin the fieldלִקְרָאתֵנוּlik/ra/TE/nuto meet usוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהָעֶבֶדha/E/vedthe servantהוּאhuit isאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy masterוַתִּקַּחvat/tik/KACHand she tookהַצָּעִיףhats/tsa/IFa veilוַתִּתְכָּס׃vat/tit/KASand she covered herself

    For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant had said, It is my master: therefore she took a vail, and covered herself.

66. 66

    וַיְסַפֵּרvay/sap/PERand toldהָעֶבֶדha/E/vedthe servantלְיִצְחָקLe/yits/CHAKIsaacאֵת־כׇּל־הַדְּבָרִיםet-kol-had/de/va/RIMall the thingsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichעָשָׂה׃a/SAhe had done

    And the servant told Isaac all things that he had done.

67. 67

    וַיְבִאֶהָvay/vi/E/haand brought herיִצְחָקYits/CHAKIsaacהָאֹהֱלָהha/O/he/lainto the tent ofשָׂרָהSa/RASarahאִמּוֹim/MOhis motherוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֶת־רִבְקָהet-Riv/KARebekahוַתְּהִי־לוֹvat/te/HI-loand she became hisלְאִשָּׁהle/ish/SHAwifeוַיֶּאֱהָבֶהָvay/ye/e/ha/VE/haand he loved herוַיִּנָּחֵםvay/yin/na/CHEMand was comfortedיִצְחָקYits/CHAKIsaacאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterאִמּוֹ׃im/MOhis mother

    And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.
