    וַיְכֻלּוּvay/khul/LUand were finishedהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensוְהָאָרֶץve/ha/A/retsand the earthוְכׇל־צְבָאָם׃ve/KHOL-tse/va/AMand all their host

    Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

    וַיְכַלvay/KHALand finishedאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַשְּׁבִיעִיhash/she/vi/Iseventhמְלַאכְתּוֹme/lakh/TOHis workאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichעָשָׂהa/SAHe had doneוַיִּשְׁבֹּתvay/yish/BOTand He restedבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַשְּׁבִיעִיhash/she/vi/Iseventhמִכׇּל־מְלַאכְתּוֹmik/KOL-me/lakh/TOfrom all His workאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichעָשָׂה׃a/SAHe had done

    And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

    וַיְבָרֶךְvay/VA/rekhand blessedאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶת־יוֹםet-yomthe dayהַשְּׁבִיעִיhash/she/vi/Iseventhוַיְקַדֵּשׁvay/kad/DESHand sanctifiedאֹתוֹo/TOitכִּיkibecauseבוֹvoin itשָׁבַתsha/VATHe restedמִכׇּל־מְלַאכְתּוֹmik/KOL-me/lakh/TOfrom all His workאֲשֶׁר־בָּרָאa/SHER-ba/RAwhich had createdאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodלַעֲשׂוֹת׃la/a/SOTto make

    And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

    אֵלֶּהEL/lethese areתוֹלְדוֹתtol/DOTthe generations ofהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensוְהָאָרֶץve/ha/A/retsand the earthבְּהִבָּרְאָםbe/hib/ba/re/AMwhen they were createdבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the day ofעֲשׂוֹתa/SOTmakingיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶרֶץE/retsearthוְשָׁמָיִם׃ve/sha/MA/yimand heavens

    These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,

    וְכֹלve/KHOLand everyשִׂיחַSI/achplant ofהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEthe fieldטֶרֶםTE/rembeforeיִהְיֶהyih/YEit wasבָאָרֶץva/A/retsin the earthוְכׇל־עֵשֶׂבve/KHOL-E/sevand every herb ofהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEthe fieldטֶרֶםTE/rembeforeיִצְמָחyits/MACHit grewכִּיkiforלֹאlonotהִמְטִירhim/TIRhad caused it to rainיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodעַל־הָאָרֶץal-ha/A/retsupon the earthוְאָדָםve/a/DAMand manאַיִןA/yinthere was notלַעֲבֹדla/a/VODto tillאֶת־הָאֲדָמָה׃et-ha/a/da/MAthe ground

    And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.

    וְאֵדve/EDbut a mistיַעֲלֶהya/a/LEwent upמִן־הָאָרֶץmin-ha/A/retsfrom the earthוְהִשְׁקָהve/hish/KAand wateredאֶת־כׇּל־פְּנֵיet-kol-pe/NEthe whole face ofהָאֲדָמָה׃ha/a/da/MAthe ground

    But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

    וַיִּיצֶרvay/yi/TSERand formedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶת־הָאָדָםet-ha/a/DAMthe manעָפָרa/FARdustמִן־הָאֲדָמָהmin-ha/a/da/MAfrom the groundוַיִּפַּחvay/yip/PACHand breathedבְּאַפָּיוbe/ap/PAYVinto his nostrilsנִשְׁמַתnish/MATthe breath ofחַיִּיםchay/YIMlifeוַיְהִיvay/HIand becameהָאָדָםha/a/DAMthe manלְנֶפֶשׁle/NE/fesha soulחַיָּה׃chay/YAliving

    And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

    וַיִּטַּעvay/yit/TAand plantedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodגַּן־בְּעֵדֶןgan-Be/E/dena garden in Edenמִקֶּדֶםmik/KE/demeastwardוַיָּשֶׂםvay/YA/semand He putשָׁםshamthereאֶת־הָאָדָםet-ha/a/DAMthe manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomיָצָר׃ya/TSARHe had formed

    And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

    וַיַּצְמַחvay/yats/MACHand made to growיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodמִן־הָאֲדָמָהmin-ha/a/da/MAout of the groundכׇּל־עֵץkol-etsevery treeנֶחְמָדnech/MADthat is pleasantלְמַרְאֶהle/mar/Eto the sightוְטוֹבve/TOVand goodלְמַאֲכָלle/ma/a/KHALfor foodוְעֵץve/ETSand the tree ofהַחַיִּיםha/chay/YIMlifeבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHin the midst ofהַגָּןhag/GANthe gardenוְעֵץve/ETSand the tree ofהַדַּעַתhad/DA/atthe knowledge ofטוֹבtovgoodוָרָע׃va/RAand evil

    And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

    וְנָהָרve/na/HARand a riverיֹצֵאyo/TSEwent outמֵעֵדֶןme/E/denfrom Edenלְהַשְׁקוֹתle/hash/KOTto waterאֶת־הַגָּןet-hag/GANthe gardenוּמִשָּׁםu/mish/SHAMand from thereיִפָּרֵדyip/pa/REDit was partedוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand becameלְאַרְבָּעָהle/ar/ba/Afourרָאשִׁים׃ra/SHIMheads

    And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.

    שֵׁםshemthe name ofהָאֶחָדha/e/CHADthe firstפִּישׁוֹןPi/SHONPishonהוּאhuit isהַסֹּבֵבhas/so/VEVthat encirclesאֵת־כׇּל־אֶרֶץet-kol-E/retsthe whole land ofהַחֲוִילָהHa/cha/vi/LAHavilahאֲשֶׁר־שָׁםa/SHER-shamwhere there isהַזָּהָב׃haz/za/HAVgold

    The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;

    וּזְהַבu/ze/HAVand the gold ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landהַהִואha/HIVthatטוֹבtovis goodשָׁםshamthere isהַבְּדֹלַחhab/be/DO/lachbdelliumוְאֶבֶןve/E/venand the stoneהַשֹּׁהַם׃hash/SHO/hamonyx

    And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.

    וְשֵׁם־הַנָּהָרve/SHEM-han/na/HARand the name of the riverהַשֵּׁנִיhash/she/NIthe secondגִּיחוֹןGi/CHONGihonהוּאhuit isהַסּוֹבֵבhas/so/VEVthat encirclesאֵת־כׇּל־אֶרֶץet-kol-E/retsthe whole land ofכּוּשׁ׃KushCush

    And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.

    וְשֵׁםve/SHEMand the name ofהַנָּהָרhan/na/HARthe riverהַשְּׁלִישִׁיhash/she/li/SHIthe thirdחִדֶּקֶלChid/DE/kelHiddekelהוּאhuit isהַהֹלֵךְha/ho/LEKHthat goesקִדְמַתkid/MATeast ofאַשּׁוּרAsh/SHURAssyriaוְהַנָּהָרve/han/na/HARand the riverהָרְבִיעִיha/re/vi/Ithe fourthהוּאhuit isפְרָת׃Fe/RATEuphrates

    And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶת־הָאָדָםet-ha/a/DAMthe manוַיַּנִּחֵהוּvay/yan/ni/CHE/huand put himבְגַן־עֵדֶןve/GAN-E/denin the garden of Edenלְעׇבְדָהּle/ov/DAto till itוּלְשׇׁמְרָהּ׃u/le/shom/RAand to keep it

    And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

  16. 16

    וַיְצַוvay/TSAVand commandedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodעַל־הָאָדָםal-ha/a/DAMthe manלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingמִכֹּלmik/KOLof everyעֵץ־הַגָּןets-hag/GANtree of the gardenאָכֹלa/KHOLeatתֹּאכֵל׃to/KHELyou may eat

    And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

  17. 17

    וּמֵעֵץu/me/ETSbut of the tree ofהַדַּעַתhad/DA/atthe knowledge ofטוֹבtovgoodוָרָעva/RAand evilלֹאlonotתֹאכַלto/KHALyou shall eatמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nuof itכִּיkiforבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the dayאֲכׇלְךָa/khol/KHAthat you eatמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nuof itמוֹתmotdieתָּמוּת׃ta/MUTyou shall die

    But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

  18. 18

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodלֹא־טוֹבlo-tovnot goodהֱיוֹתhe/YOTto beהָאָדָםha/a/DAMthe manלְבַדּוֹle/vad/DOaloneאֶעֱשֶׂה־לּוֹe/e/SE-loI will make for himעֵזֶרE/zera helperכְּנֶגְדּוֹ׃ke/neg/DOsuitable for him

    And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

  19. 19

    וַיִּצֶרvay/YI/tserand formedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodמִן־הָאֲדָמָהmin-ha/a/da/MAout of the groundכׇּל־חַיַּתkol-chay/YATevery beast ofהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEthe fieldוְאֵתve/ETandכׇּל־עוֹףkol-ofevery bird ofהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe airוַיָּבֵאvay/ya/VEand broughtאֶל־הָאָדָםel-ha/a/DAMto the manלִרְאוֹתlir/OTto seeמַה־יִּקְרָא־לוֹma-yik/RA-lowhat he would call itוְכֹלve/KHOLand whateverאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיִקְרָא־לוֹyik/RA-localled itהָאָדָםha/a/DAMthe manנֶפֶשׁNE/feshsoulחַיָּהchay/YAlivingהוּאhuthatשְׁמוֹ׃she/MOits name

    And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

  20. 20

    וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledהָאָדָםha/a/DAMthe manשֵׁמוֹתshe/MOTnamesלְכׇל־הַבְּהֵמָהle/KHOL-hab/be/he/MAto all the livestockוּלְעוֹףu/le/OFand to the birds ofהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe airוּלְכֹלu/le/KHOLand to everyחַיַּתchay/YATbeast ofהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEthe fieldוּלְאָדָםu/Le/a/DAMbut for Adamלֹא־מָצָאlo-ma/TSAwas not foundעֵזֶרE/zera helperכְּנֶגְדּוֹ׃ke/neg/DOsuitable for him

    And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

  21. 21

    וַיַּפֵּלvay/yap/PELand caused to fallיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodתַּרְדֵּמָהtar/de/MAa deep sleepעַל־הָאָדָםal-ha/a/DAMupon the manוַיִּישָׁןvay/yi/SHANand he sleptוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand He tookאַחַתa/CHAToneמִצַּלְעֹתָיוmits/tsal/o/TAYVof his ribsוַיִּסְגֹּרvay/yis/GORand closed upבָּשָׂרba/SARfleshתַּחְתֶּנָּה׃tach/TEN/nain its place

    And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

  22. 22

    וַיִּבֶןvay/YI/venand builtיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶת־הַצֵּלָעet-hats/tse/LAthe ribאֲשֶׁר־לָקַחa/SHER-la/KACHwhich He had takenמִן־הָאָדָםmin-ha/a/DAMfrom the manלְאִשָּׁהle/ish/SHAinto a womanוַיְבִאֶהָvay/vi/E/haand He brought herאֶל־הָאָדָם׃el-ha/a/DAMto the man

    And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

  23. 23

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהָאָדָםha/a/DAMthe manזֹאתzotthis isהַפַּעַםhap/PA/amnowעֶצֶםE/tsemboneמֵעֲצָמַיme/a/tsa/MAYof my bonesוּבָשָׂרu/va/SARand fleshמִבְּשָׂרִיmib/be/sa/RIof my fleshלְזֹאתle/ZOTthisיִקָּרֵאyik/ka/REshall be calledאִשָּׁהIsh/SHAWomanכִּיkibecauseמֵאִישׁme/ISHout of Manלֻקְחָה־זֹּאת׃luk/CHA-zotwas taken this

    And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeיַעֲזׇב־אִישׁya/a/ZOV-ishshall a man leaveאֶת־אָבִיוet-a/VIVhis fatherוְאֶת־אִמּוֹve/ET-im/MOand his motherוְדָבַקve/da/VAKand shall cleaveבְּאִשְׁתּוֹbe/ish/TOto his wifeוְהָיוּve/ha/YUand they shall becomeלְבָשָׂרle/va/SARfleshאֶחָד׃e/CHADone

    Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

  25. 25

    וַיִּהְיוּvay/yih/YUand they wereשְׁנֵיהֶםshe/ne/HEMboth of themעֲרוּמִּיםa/rum/MIMnakedהָאָדָםha/a/DAMthe manוְאִשְׁתּוֹve/ish/TOand his wifeוְלֹאve/LOand notיִתְבֹּשָׁשׁוּ׃yit/bo/SHA/shuwere ashamed

    And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
