    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passדְבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDאֵלַיe/LAYto meלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

    וְאַתָּהve/at/TAand youבֶן־אָדָםven-a/DAMson of manהֲתִשְׁפֹּטha/tish/POTwill you judgeהֲתִשְׁפֹּטha/tish/POTwill you judgeאֶת־עִירet-irthe city ofהַדָּמִיםhad/da/MIMbloodוְהוֹדַעְתָּהּve/ho/da/TAand you shall make her knowאֵת־כׇּל־תּוֹעֲבוֹתֶיהָ׃et-kol-to/a/vo/TE/haall her abominations

    Now, thou son of man, wilt thou judge, wilt thou judge the bloody city? yea, thou shalt shew her all her abominations.

    וְאָמַרְתָּve/a/mar/TAand sayכֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODעִירira cityשֹׁפֶכֶתsho/FE/khetthat shedsדָּםdambloodבְּתוֹכָהּbe/to/KHAin her midstלָבוֹאla/VOthat may comeעִתָּהּit/TAher timeוְעָשְׂתָהve/a/se/TAand makesגִלּוּלִיםgil/lu/LIMidolsעָלֶיהָa/LE/haagainst herselfלְטׇמְאָה׃le/tom/Ato defile herself

    Then say thou, Thus saith the Lord GOD, The city sheddeth blood in the midst of it, that her time may come, and maketh idols against herself to defile herself.

    בְּדָמֵךְbe/da/MEKHin your bloodאֲשֶׁר־שָׁפַכְתְּa/SHER-sha/FAKHTthat you have shedאָשַׁמְתְּa/SHAMTyou have become guiltyוּבְגִלּוּלַיִךְu/ve/gil/lu/LA/yikhand by your idolsאֲשֶׁר־עָשִׂיתa/SHER-a/SITthat you have madeטָמֵאתta/METyou have defiled yourselfוַתַּקְרִיבִיvat/tak/RI/viand you have caused to draw nearיָמַיִךְya/MA/yikhyour daysוַתָּבוֹאvat/ta/VOand have comeעַד־שְׁנוֹתָיִךְad-she/no/TA/yikhto your yearsעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeנְתַתִּיךְne/tat/TIKHI have made youחֶרְפָּהcher/PAa reproachלַגּוֹיִםlag/go/YIMto the nationsוְקַלָּסָהve/kal/la/SAand a mockingלְכׇל־הָאֲרָצוֹת׃le/KHOL-ha/a/ra/TSOTto all the lands

    Thou art become guilty in thy blood that thou hast shed; and hast defiled thyself in thine idols which thou hast made; and thou hast caused thy days to draw near, and art come even unto thy years: therefore have I made thee a reproach unto the heathen, and a mocking to all countries.

    הַקְּרֹבוֹתhak/ke/ro/VOTthose nearוְהָרְחֹקוֹתve/ha/re/cho/KOTand those farמִמֵּךְmim/MEKHfrom youיִתְקַלְּסוּ־בָךְyit/kal/le/SU-vakhshall mock youטְמֵאַתte/me/ATdefiled ofהַשֵּׁםhash/SHEMnameרַבַּתrab/BATfull ofהַמְּהוּמָה׃ham/me/hu/MAtumult

    Those that be near, and those that be far from thee, shall mock thee, which art infamous and much vexed.

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdנְשִׂיאֵיne/si/Ethe princes ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאִישׁisheachלִזְרֹעוֹliz/ro/Oby his armהָיוּha/YUhave beenבָךְvakhin youלְמַעַןle/MA/anforשְׁפׇךְ־דָּם׃she/FOKH-damto shed blood

    Behold, the princes of Israel, every one were in thee to their power to shed blood.

    אָבavfatherוָאֵםva/EMand a motherהֵקַלּוּhe/KAL/luthey have made light ofבָךְvakhin youלַגֵּרlag/GERto the sojournerעָשׂוּa/SUthey have dealtבַעֹשֶׁקva/O/shekby oppressionבְּתוֹכֵךְbe/to/KHEKHin the midst of youיָתוֹםya/TOMthe fatherlessוְאַלְמָנָהve/al/ma/NAand a widowהוֹנוּHO/nuthey have wrongedבָךְ׃vakhin you

    In thee have they set light by father and mother: in the midst of thee have they dealt by oppression with the stranger: in thee have they vexed the fatherless and the widow.

    קׇדָשַׁיko/da/SHAYmy holy thingsבָּזִיתba/ZITyou have despisedוְאֶת־שַׁבְּתֹתַיve/ET-shab/be/to/TAYand my sabbathsחִלָּלְתְּ׃chil/LALTyou have profaned

    Thou hast despised mine holy things, and hast profaned my sabbaths.

    אַנְשֵׁיan/SHEmen ofרָכִילra/KHILslanderהָיוּha/YUareבָךְvakhin youלְמַעַןle/MA/antoשְׁפׇךְ־דָּםshe/FOKH-damshed bloodוְאֶל־הֶהָרִיםve/EL-he/ha/RIMand on the mountainsאָכְלוּa/khe/LUthey eatבָךְvakhin youזִמָּהzim/MAlewdnessעָשׂוּa/SUthey commitבְתוֹכֵךְ׃ve/to/KHEKHin the midst of you

    In thee are men that carry tales to shed blood: and in thee they eat upon the mountains: in the midst of thee they commit lewdness.

    עֶרְוַת־אָבer/VAT-avthe nakedness of a fatherגִּלָּה־בָךְgil/LA-vakhthey have uncovered in youטְמֵאַתte/me/ATunclean ofהַנִּדָּהhan/nid/DAthe impurityעִנּוּ־בָךְ׃in/NU-vakhthey have humbled in you

    In thee have they discovered their fathers' nakedness: in thee have they humbled her that was set apart for pollution.

    וְאִישׁve/ISHand oneאֶת־אֵשֶׁתet-E/shetthe wife ofרֵעֵהוּre/E/huhis neighborעָשָׂהa/SAhas committedתּוֹעֵבָהto/e/VAabominationוְאִישׁve/ISHand anotherאֶת־כַּלָּתוֹet-kal/la/TOhis daughter in lawטִמֵּאtim/MEhas defiledבְזִמָּהve/zim/MAin lewdnessוְאִישׁve/ISHand anotherאֶת־אֲחֹתוֹet-a/cho/TOhis sisterבַת־אָבִיוvat-a/VIVthe daughter of his fatherעִנָּה־בָךְ׃in/NA-vakhhas humbled in you

    And one hath committed abomination with his neighbour's wife; and another hath lewdly defiled his daughter in law; and another in thee hath humbled his sister, his father's daughter.

    שֹׁחַדSHO/chada bribeלָקְחוּ־בָךְla/ke/CHU-vakhthey have taken in youלְמַעַןle/MA/antoשְׁפׇךְ־דָּםshe/FOKH-damshed bloodנֶשֶׁךְNE/shekhinterestוְתַרְבִּיתve/tar/BITand increaseלָקַחַתְּla/KA/chattyou have takenוַתְּבַצְּעִיvat/te/vats/tse/Iand you have greedily gained fromרֵעַיִךְre/A/yikhyour neighborsבַּעֹשֶׁקba/O/shekby oppressionוְאֹתִיve/o/TIand meשָׁכַחַתְּsha/KHA/chattyou have forgottenנְאֻםne/UMsaysאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe Lordיֱהֹוִה׃AdonaiGOD

    In thee have they taken gifts to shed blood; thou hast taken usury and increase, and thou hast greedily gained of thy neighbours by extortion, and hast forgotten me, saith the Lord GOD.

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdהִכֵּיתִיhik/KE/tiI have struckכַפִּיkhap/PImy handאֶל־בִּצְעֵךְel-bits/EKHat your dishonest gainאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעָשִׂיתa/SITyou have madeוְעַל־דָּמֵךְve/AL-da/MEKHand at your bloodאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהָיוּha/YUhas beenבְּתוֹכֵךְ׃be/to/KHEKHin the midst of you

    Behold, therefore I have smitten mine hand at thy dishonest gain which thou hast made, and at thy blood which hath been in the midst of thee.

    הֲיַעֲמֹדha/ya/a/MODcan endureלִבֵּךְlib/BEKHyour heartאִם־תֶּחֱזַקְנָהim-te/che/ZAK/naor can be strongיָדַיִךְya/DA/yikhyour handsלַיָּמִיםlay/ya/MIMin the daysאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאֲנִיa/NIIעֹשֶׂהo/SEshall dealאוֹתָךְo/TAKHwith youאֲנִיa/NIIיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDדִּבַּרְתִּיdib/BAR/tiI have spokenוְעָשִׂיתִי׃ve/a/SI/tiand will do it

    Can thine heart endure, or can thine hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with thee? I the LORD have spoken it, and will do it.

    וַהֲפִיצוֹתִיva/ha/fi/tso/TIand I will scatterאוֹתָךְo/TAKHyouבַּגּוֹיִםbag/go/YIMamong the nationsוְזֵרִיתִיךְve/ze/ri/TIKHand I will disperse youבָּאֲרָצוֹתba/a/ra/TSOTin the landsוַהֲתִמֹּתִיva/ha/tim/mo/TIand I will consumeטֻמְאָתֵךְtum/a/TEKHyour uncleannessמִמֵּךְ׃mim/MEKHfrom you

    And I will scatter thee among the heathen, and disperse thee in the countries, and will consume thy filthiness out of thee.

    וְנִחַלְתְּve/ni/CHALTand you shall be profanedבָּךְbakhin yourselfלְעֵינֵיle/e/NEin the sight ofגוֹיִםgo/YIMnationsוְיָדַעַתְּve/ya/DA/attand you shall knowכִּי־אֲנִיki-a/NIthat I amיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And thou shalt take thine inheritance in thyself in the sight of the heathen, and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.

  17. 17

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passדְבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDאֵלַיe/LAYto meלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

  18. 18

    בֶּן־אָדָםben-a/DAMson of manהָיוּ־לִיha/YU-lihas become to meבֵית־יִשְׂרָאֵלvet-Yis/ra/ELthe house of Israel(לסוג)lasavag[לְסִיג]le/SIGdrossכֻּלָּםkul/LAMall of themנְחֹשֶׁתne/CHO/shetbronzeוּבְדִילu/ve/DILand tinוּבַרְזֶלu/var/ZELand ironוְעוֹפֶרֶתve/o/FE/retand leadבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHin the midst ofכּוּרkurthe furnaceסִגִיםsi/GIMdross ofכֶּסֶףKE/sefsilverהָיוּ׃ha/YUthey are

    Son of man, the house of Israel is to me become dross: all they are brass, and tin, and iron, and lead, in the midst of the furnace; they are even the dross of silver.

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeכֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODיַעַןYA/anbecauseהֱיוֹתhe/YOTyou have becomeכֻּלְּכֶםkul/le/KHEMall of youלְסִגִיםle/si/GIMdrossלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iקֹבֵץko/VETSwill gatherאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouאֶל־תּוֹךְel-tokhinto the midst ofיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃Ye/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalem

    Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye are all become dross, behold, therefore I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem.

    קְבֻצַתke/VU/tsatas one gathersכֶּסֶףKE/sefsilverוּנְחֹשֶׁתu/ne/CHO/shetand bronzeוּבַרְזֶלu/var/ZELand ironוְעוֹפֶרֶתve/o/FE/retand leadוּבְדִילu/ve/DILand tinאֶל־תּוֹךְel-tokhinto the midst ofכּוּרkurthe furnaceלָפַחַת־עָלָיוla/fa/CHAT-a/LAYVto blow on itאֵשׁeshthe fireלְהַנְתִּיךְle/han/TIKHto melt itכֵּןkensoאֶקְבֹּץek/BOTSI will gatherבְּאַפִּיbe/ap/PIin my angerוּבַחֲמָתִיu/va/cha/ma/TIand in my rageוְהִנַּחְתִּיve/hin/nach/TIand I will put you thereוְהִתַּכְתִּיve/hit/takh/TIand meltאֶתְכֶם׃et/KHEMyou

    As they gather silver, and brass, and iron, and lead, and tin, into the midst of the furnace, to blow the fire upon it, to melt it; so will I gather you in mine anger and in my fury, and I will leave you there, and melt you.

  21. 21

    וְכִנַּסְתִּיve/khin/nas/TIyes I will gatherאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouוְנָפַחְתִּיve/na/FACH/tiand I will blowעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMon youבְּאֵשׁbe/ESHwith the fire ofעֶבְרָתִיev/ra/TImy wrathוְנִתַּכְתֶּםve/nit/takh/TEMand you shall be meltedבְּתוֹכָהּ׃be/to/KHAin its midst

    Yea, I will gather you, and blow upon you in the fire of my wrath, and ye shall be melted in the midst thereof.

    כְּהִתּוּךְke/hit/TUKHas is meltedכֶּסֶףKE/sefsilverבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHin the midst ofכּוּרkurthe furnaceכֵּןkensoתֻּתְּכוּtut/te/KHUyou will be meltedבְתוֹכָהּve/to/KHAin the midst of itוִידַעְתֶּםvi/da/TEMand you shall knowכִּי־אֲנִיki-a/NIthat I amיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDשָׁפַכְתִּיsha/FAKH/tihave poured outחֲמָתִיcha/ma/TImy furyעֲלֵיכֶם׃a/le/KHEMon you

    As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall ye be melted in the midst thereof; and ye shall know that I the LORD have poured out my fury upon you.

  23. 23

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passדְבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDאֵלַיe/LAYto meלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

  24. 24

    בֶּן־אָדָםben-a/DAMson of manאֱמׇר־לָהּe/MOR-lasay to herאַתְּattyou areאֶרֶץE/retsa landלֹאlonotמְטֹהָרָהme/to/ha/RAcleansedהִיאhiit isלֹאlonotגֻשְׁמָהּgush/MArained onבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the day ofזָעַם׃za/AMindignation

    Son of man, say unto her, Thou art the land that is not cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of indignation.

    קֶשֶׁרKE/sherthere is a conspiracy ofנְבִיאֶיהָne/vi/E/haits prophetsבְּתוֹכָהּbe/to/KHAin its midstכַּאֲרִיka/a/RIlike a lionשׁוֹאֵגsho/EGroaringטֹרֵףto/REFtearingטָרֶףTA/refthe preyנֶפֶשׁNE/feshsoulsאָכָלוּa/KHA/luthey have devouredחֹסֶןCHO/senwealthוִיקָרvi/KARand precious thingsיִקָּחוּyik/KA/chuthey takeאַלְמְנוֹתֶיהָal/me/no/TE/haher widowsהִרְבּוּhir/BUthey have multipliedבְתוֹכָהּ׃ve/to/KHAin her midst

    There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof.

    כֹּהֲנֶיהָko/ha/NE/haher priestsחָמְסוּcha/me/SUhave done violence toתוֹרָתִיto/ra/TImy lawוַיְחַלְּלוּvay/chal/le/LUand have profanedקׇדָשַׁיko/da/SHAYmy holy thingsבֵּין־קֹדֶשׁben-KO/deshbetween the holyלְחֹלle/CHOLand the profaneלֹאlonotהִבְדִּילוּhiv/DI/luthey have distinguishedוּבֵין־הַטָּמֵאu/VEN-hat/ta/MEand between the uncleanלְטָהוֹרle/ta/HORand the cleanלֹאlonotהוֹדִיעוּho/DI/uthey have taughtוּמִשַּׁבְּתוֹתַיu/mish/shab/be/to/TAYand from my sabbathsהֶעְלִימוּhe/LI/muthey have hiddenעֵינֵיהֶםe/ne/HEMtheir eyesוָאֵחַלva/e/CHALand I have been profanedבְּתוֹכָם׃be/to/KHAMamong them

    Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

    שָׂרֶיהָsa/RE/haher princesבְקִרְבָּהּve/kir/BAin her midstכִּזְאֵבִיםkiz/e/VIMare like wolvesטֹרְפֵיTOR/fetearingטָרֶףTA/refthe preyלִשְׁפׇּךְ־דָּםlish/POKH-damto shed bloodלְאַבֵּדle/ab/BEDto destroyנְפָשׁוֹתne/fa/SHOTsoulsלְמַעַןle/MA/antoבְּצֹעַbe/TSO/againבָּצַע׃BA/tsadishonest gain

    Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.

    וּנְבִיאֶיהָu/ne/vi/E/haand her prophetsטָחוּta/CHUhave plasteredלָהֶםla/HEMfor themתָּפֵלta/FELwith whitewashחֹזִיםcho/ZIMseeingשָׁוְאshavfalsehoodוְקֹסְמִיםve/kos/MIMand diviningלָהֶםla/HEMfor themכָּזָבka/ZAVa lieאֹמְרִיםom/RIMsayingכֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODוַיהֹוָהve-Adonaiand the LORDלֹאlonotדִבֵּר׃dib/BERhas spoken

    And her prophets have daubed them with untempered morter, seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord GOD, when the LORD hath not spoken.

    עַםamthe people ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landעָשְׁקוּASH/kuhave practicedעֹשֶׁקO/shekoppressionוְגָזְלוּve/ga/ze/LUand committedגָּזֵלga/ZELrobberyוְעָנִיve/a/NIand the poorוְאֶבְיוֹןve/ev/YONand needyהוֹנוּHO/nuthey have wrongedוְאֶת־הַגֵּרve/ET-hag/GERand the sojournerעָשְׁקוּASH/kuthey have oppressedבְּלֹאbe/LOwithoutמִשְׁפָּט׃mish/PATjustice

    The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.

    וָאֲבַקֵּשׁva/a/vak/KESHand I soughtמֵהֶםme/HEMof themאִישׁisha manגֹּדֵר־גָּדֵרgo/DER-ga/DERwho would build up the wallוְעֹמֵדve/o/MEDand standבַּפֶּרֶץbap/PE/retsin the breachלְפָנַיle/fa/NAYbefore meבְּעַדbe/ADforהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIthat notשַׁחֲתָהּsha/cha/TAI should destroy itוְלֹאve/LOand notמָצָאתִי׃ma/TSA/tiI found

    And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

  31. 31

    וָאֶשְׁפֹּךְva/esh/POKHtherefore I have poured outעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMon themזַעְמִיza/MImy indignationבְּאֵשׁbe/ESHwith the fire ofעֶבְרָתִיev/ra/TImy wrathכִּלִּיתִיםkil/li/TIMI have consumed themדַּרְכָּםdar/KAMtheir wayבְּרֹאשָׁםbe/ro/SHAMon their headsנָתַתִּיna/TAT/tiI have broughtנְאֻםne/UMsaysאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe Lordיֱהֹוִה׃AdonaiGOD

    Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD.
