   And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

   בֶּן־אָדָםben-a/DAMson of manחוּדchudput forthחִידָהchi/DAa riddleוּמְשֹׁלu/me/SHOLand speakמָשָׁלma/SHALa parableאֶל־בֵּיתel-betto the house ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

   Son of man, put forth a riddle, and speak a parable unto the house of Israel;

   וְאָמַרְתָּve/a/mar/TAand sayכֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saysאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODהַנֶּשֶׁרhan/NE/sherthe eagleהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLthe greatגְּדוֹלge/DOLgreat ofהַכְּנָפַיִםhak/ke/na/FA/yimthe wingsאֶרֶךְE/rekhlong ofהָאֵבֶרha/E/verpinionמָלֵאma/LEfull ofהַנּוֹצָהhan/no/TSAfeathersאֲשֶׁר־לוֹa/SHER-lowhich hadהָרִקְמָהha/rik/MAmany colorsבָּאbacameאֶל־הַלְּבָנוֹןel-Hal/le/va/NONto Lebanonוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֶת־צַמֶּרֶתet-tsam/ME/retthe top ofהָאָרֶז׃ha/A/rezthe cedar

   And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; A great eagle with great wings, longwinged, full of feathers, which had divers colours, came unto Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar:

   אֵת־רֹאשׁet-roshthe head ofיְנִיקוֹתָיוye/ni/ko/TAYVits young twigsקָטָףka/TAFhe cropped offוַיְבִיאֵהוּvay/vi/E/huand carried itאֶל־אֶרֶץel-E/retsto the land ofכְּנַעַןke/NA/antradeבְּעִירbe/IRin the city ofרֹכְלִיםrokh/LIMtradersשָׂמוֹ׃sa/MOhe set it

   He cropped off the top of his young twigs, and carried it into a land of traffick; he set it in a city of merchants.

   וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookמִזֶּרַעmiz/ZE/raof the seed ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landוַיִּתְּנֵהוּvay/yit/te/NE/huand planted itבִּשְׂדֵה־זָרַעbis/DE-ZA/rain the field of seedקָחkachhe took itעַל־מַיִםal-MA/yimby watersרַבִּיםrab/BIMgreatצַפְצָפָהtsaf/tsa/FAas a willowשָׂמוֹ׃sa/MOhe set it

   He took also of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful field; he placed it by great waters, and set it as a willow tree.

   וַיִּצְמַחvay/yits/MACHand it sproutedוַיְהִיvay/HIand becameלְגֶפֶןle/GE/fena vineסֹרַחַתso/RA/chatspreadingשִׁפְלַתshif/LATlow ofקוֹמָהko/MAstatureלִפְנוֹתlif/NOTwhose turnedדָּלִיּוֹתָיוda/liy/yo/TAYVbranchesאֵלָיוe/LAYVtoward himוְשׇׁרָשָׁיוve/sho/ra/SHAYVand its rootsתַּחְתָּיוtach/TAYVunder himיִהְיוּyih/YUwereוַתְּהִיvat/te/HIso it becameלְגֶפֶןle/GE/fena vineוַתַּעַשׂvat/TA/asand producedבַּדִּיםbad/DIMbranchesוַתְּשַׁלַּחvat/te/shal/LACHand it sent outפֹּרֹאות׃po/ROTboughs

   And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and the roots thereof were under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand there wasנֶשֶׁר־אֶחָדNE/sher-e/CHADanother eagleגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatגְּדוֹלge/DOLwith greatכְּנָפַיִםke/na/FA/yimwingsוְרַב־נוֹצָהve/RAV-no/TSAand many feathersוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdהַגֶּפֶןhag/GE/fenthe vineהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisכָּפְנָהka/fe/NAbentשׇׁרָשֶׁיהָsho/ra/SHE/haits rootsעָלָיוa/LAYVtoward himוְדָלִיּוֹתָיוve/da/liy/yo/TAYVand its branchesשִׁלְחָה־לּוֹshil/CHA-loshot out toward himלְהַשְׁקוֹתle/hash/KOTthat he might waterאוֹתָהּo/TAitמֵעֲרֻגוֹתme/a/ru/GOTfrom the beds ofמַטָּעָהּ׃mat/ta/Aits planting

   There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend her roots toward him, and shot forth her branches toward him, that he might water it by the furrows of her plantation.

   אֶל־שָׂדֶהel-SA/dein a fieldטּוֹבtovgoodאֶל־מַיִםel-MA/yimby watersרַבִּיםrab/BIMgreatהִיאhiitשְׁתוּלָהshe/tu/LAwas plantedלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto produceעָנָףa/NAFa branchוְלָשֵׂאתve/la/SETand to bearפְּרִיpe/RIfruitלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTthat it might beלְגֶפֶןle/GE/fena vineאַדָּרֶת׃ad/DA/reta goodly

   It was planted in a good soil by great waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine.

   אֱמֹרe/MORsayכֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODתִּצְלָחtits/LACHshall it prosperהֲלוֹאha/LOshall he notאֶת־שׇׁרָשֶׁיהָet-sho/ra/SHE/haits rootsיְנַתֵּקye/nat/TEKpull upוְאֶת־פִּרְיָהּve/ET-pir/YAand its fruitיְקוֹסֵסye/ko/SEScut offוְיָבֵשׁve/ya/VESHso that it withersכׇּל־טַרְפֵּיkol-tar/PEall the fresh leaves ofצִמְחָהּtsim/CHAits sproutingתִּיבָשׁti/VASHshall witherוְלֹא־בִזְרֹעַve/LO-viz/RO/aand not with an armגְּדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatוּבְעַם־רָבu/ve/AM-ravor with many peopleלְמַשְׂאוֹתle/mas/OTto pull upאוֹתָהּo/TAitמִשׇּׁרָשֶׁיהָ׃mish/sho/ra/SHE/haby its roots

   Say thou, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Shall it prosper? shall he not pull up the roots thereof, and cut off the fruit thereof, that it wither? it shall wither in all the leaves of her spring, even without great power or many people to pluck it up by the roots thereof.

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEyes beholdשְׁתוּלָהshe/tu/LAbeing plantedהֲתִצְלָחha/tits/LACHshall it prosperהֲלֹאha/LOshall it notכְגַעַתkhe/GA/atwhen touchesבָּהּbaitרוּחַRU/achthe windהַקָּדִיםhak/ka/DIMeastתִּיבַשׁti/VASHwitherיָבֹשׁya/VOSHwitherעַל־עֲרֻגֹתal-a/ru/GOTin the beds ofצִמְחָהּtsim/CHAits sproutingתִּיבָשׁ׃ti/VASHit will wither

    Yea, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind toucheth it? it shall wither in the furrows where it grew.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passדְבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDאֵלַיe/LAYto meלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

12. 12

    אֱמׇר־נָאe/MOR-nasay nowלְבֵיתle/VETto the house ofהַמֶּרִיham/ME/rirebellionהֲלֹאha/LOdo notיְדַעְתֶּםye/da/TEMyou knowמָה־אֵלֶּהma-EL/lewhat these things meanאֱמֹרe/MORsayהִנֵּה־בָאhin/NE-vabehold has comeמֶלֶךְ־בָּבֶלME/lekh-Ba/VELthe king of Babylonיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimto Jerusalemוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֶת־מַלְכָּהּet-mal/KAits kingוְאֶת־שָׂרֶיהָve/ET-sa/RE/haand its princesוַיָּבֵאvay/ya/VEand he broughtאוֹתָםo/TAMthemאֵלָיוe/LAYVwith himבָּבֶלָה׃ba/VE/lainto Babylon

    Say now to the rebellious house, Know ye not what these things mean? tell them, Behold, the king of Babylon is come to Jerusalem, and hath taken the king thereof, and the princes thereof, and led them with him to Babylon;

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookמִזֶּרַעmiz/ZE/raof the seedהַמְּלוּכָהham/me/lu/KHAthe royalוַיִּכְרֹתvay/yikh/ROTand madeאִתּוֹit/TOwith himבְּרִיתbe/RITa covenantוַיָּבֵאvay/ya/VEand putאֹתוֹo/TOhimבְּאָלָהbe/a/LAunder an oathוְאֶת־אֵילֵיve/ET-e/LEand the mighty ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landלָקָח׃la/KACHhe took

    And hath taken of the king's seed, and made a covenant with him, and hath taken an oath of him: he hath also taken the mighty of the land:

14. 14

    לִהְיוֹתlih/YOTthat might beמַמְלָכָהmam/la/KHAthe kingdomשְׁפָלָהshe/fa/LAlowלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TInotהִתְנַשֵּׂאhit/nas/SElift itself upלִשְׁמֹרlish/MORby keepingאֶת־בְּרִיתוֹet-be/ri/TOhis covenantלְעׇמְדָהּ׃le/om/DAthat it might stand

    That the kingdom might be base, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping of his covenant it might stand.

15. 15

    וַיִּמְרׇד־בּוֹvay/yim/ROD-bobut he rebelled against himלִשְׁלֹחַlish/LO/achin sendingמַלְאָכָיוmal/a/KHAYVhis messengersמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimto Egyptלָתֶת־לוֹLA/tet-lothat they might give himסוּסִיםsu/SIMhorsesוְעַם־רָבve/AM-ravand much peopleהֲיִצְלָחha/yits/LACHshall he prosperהֲיִמָּלֵטha/yim/ma/LETshall escapeהָעֹשֵׂהha/o/SEhe who doesאֵלֶּהEL/letheseוְהֵפֵרve/he/FERor shall he breakבְּרִיתbe/RITthe covenantוְנִמְלָט׃ve/nim/LATand escape

    But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered?

16. 16

    חַי־אָנִיchay-A/nias I liveנְאֻםne/UMsaysאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODאִם־לֹאim-losurelyבִּמְקוֹםbim/KOMin the place ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingהַמַּמְלִיךְham/mam/LIKHwho made kingאֹתוֹo/TOhimאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoseבָּזָהba/ZAhe despisedאֶת־אָלָתוֹet-a/la/TOhis oathוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whoseהֵפֵרhe/FERhe brokeאֶת־בְּרִיתוֹet-be/ri/TOhis covenantאִתּוֹit/TOwith himבְתוֹךְ־בָּבֶלve/TOKH-ba/VELin the midst of Babylonיָמוּת׃ya/MUThe shall die

    As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.

17. 17

    וְלֹאve/LOnorבְחַיִלve/CHA/yilwith an armyגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatוּבְקָהָלu/ve/ka/HALand companyרָבravgreatיַעֲשֶׂהya/a/SEhe shall doאוֹתוֹo/TOfor himפַרְעֹהFar/OPharaohבַּמִּלְחָמָהbam/mil/cha/MAin the battleבִּשְׁפֹּךְbish/POKHby casting upסֹלְלָהsol/LAa moundוּבִבְנוֹתu/viv/NOTand buildingדָּיֵקda/YEKa siege wallלְהַכְרִיתle/hakh/RITto cut offנְפָשׁוֹתne/fa/SHOTsoulsרַבּוֹת׃rab/BOTmany

    Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons:

18. 18

    וּבָזָהu/va/ZAfor he despisedאָלָהa/LAthe oathלְהָפֵרle/ha/FERby breakingבְּרִיתbe/RITthe covenantוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdנָתַןna/TANhe had givenיָדוֹya/DOhis handוְכׇל־אֵלֶּהve/KHOL-EL/leand all theseעָשָׂהa/SAhas doneלֹאlonotיִמָּלֵט׃yim/ma/LETshall escape

    Seeing he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, lo, he had given his hand, and hath done all these things, he shall not escape.

19. 19

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeכֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saysאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODחַי־אָנִיchay-A/nias I liveאִם־לֹאim-losurelyאָלָתִיa/la/TImy oathאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatבָּזָהba/ZAhe despisedוּבְרִיתִיu/ve/ri/TIand my covenantאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהֵפִירhe/FIRhe brokeוּנְתַתִּיוu/ne/tat/TIVI will bring itבְּרֹאשׁוֹ׃be/ro/SHOon his own head

    Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As I live, surely mine oath that he hath despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, even it will I recompense upon his own head.

20. 20

    וּפָרַשְׂתִּיu/fa/ras/TIand I will spreadעָלָיוa/LAYVover himרִשְׁתִּיrish/TImy netוְנִתְפַּשׂve/nit/PASand he will be caughtבִּמְצוּדָתִיbim/tsu/da/TIin my snareוַהֲבִיאוֹתִיהוּva/ha/vi/o/TI/huand I will bring himבָבֶלָהVa/VE/lato Babylonוְנִשְׁפַּטְתִּיve/nish/pat/TIand I will enter into judgmentאִתּוֹit/TOwith himשָׁםshamthereמַעֲלוֹma/a/LOfor his treacheryאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatמָעַל־בִּי׃ma/AL-bihe committed against me

    And I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will plead with him there for his trespass that he hath trespassed against me.

21. 21

    וְאֵתve/ETandכׇּל־מִבְרָחָוkol-miv/ra/CHAVall his fugitivesבְּכׇל־אֲגַפָּיוbe/KHOL-a/gap/PAYVwith all his bandsבַּחֶרֶבba/CHE/revby the swordיִפֹּלוּyip/PO/lushall fallוְהַנִּשְׁאָרִיםve/han/nish/a/RIMand those who remainלְכׇל־רוּחַle/KHOL-RU/achto every windיִפָּרֵשׂוּyip/pa/RE/suthey will be scatteredוִידַעְתֶּםvi/da/TEMand you shall knowכִּיkithatאֲניanyIיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDדִּבַּרְתִּי׃dib/BAR/tiI have spoken

    And all his fugitives with all his bands shall fall by the sword, and they that remain shall be scattered toward all winds: and ye shall know that I the LORD have spoken it.

22. 22

    כֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODוְלָקַחְתִּיve/la/kach/TIand I will takeאָנִיA/niIמִצַּמֶּרֶתmits/tsam/ME/retof the top ofהָאֶרֶזha/E/rezthe cedarהָרָמָהha/ra/MAthe highוְנָתָתִּיve/na/TAT/tiand will set itמֵרֹאשׁme/ROSHfrom the topmost ofיֹנְקוֹתָיוyon/ko/TAYVits young twigsרַךְrakha tender oneאֶקְטֹףek/TOFI will crop offוְשָׁתַלְתִּיve/sha/TAL/tiand I will plant itאָנִיA/niIעַלalonהַר־גָּבֹהַּhar-ga/VO/aha high mountainוְתָלוּל׃ve/ta/LULand lofty

    Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent:

23. 23

    בְּהַרbe/HARon the mountain ofמְרוֹםme/ROMthe height ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֶשְׁתֳּלֶנּוּesh/to/LEN/nuI will plant itוְנָשָׂאve/na/SAand it shall bring forthעָנָףa/NAFa branchוְעָשָׂהve/a/SAand bearפֶרִיFE/rifruitוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand beלְאֶרֶזle/E/reza cedarאַדִּירad/DIRmajesticוְשָׁכְנוּve/sha/khe/NUand shall dwellתַחְתָּיוtach/TAYVunder itכֹּלkoleveryצִפּוֹרtsip/PORbirdכׇּל־כָּנָףkol-ka/NAFof every wingבְּצֵלbe/TSELin the shade ofדָּלִיּוֹתָיוda/liy/yo/TAYVits branchesתִּשְׁכֹּנָּה׃tish/KON/nathey will dwell

    In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell.

24. 24

    וְיָדְעוּve/ya/de/Uand they shall knowכׇּל־עֲצֵיkol-a/TSEall the trees ofהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEthe fieldכִּיkithatאֲנִיa/NIIיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהִשְׁפַּלְתִּיhish/PAL/tihave brought lowעֵץetsthe treeגָּבֹהַּga/VO/ahhighהִגְבַּהְתִּיhig/BAH/tihave exaltedעֵץetsthe treeשָׁפָלsha/FALlowהוֹבַשְׁתִּיho/VASH/tihave dried upעֵץetsthe treeלָחlachgreenוְהִפְרַחְתִּיve/hif/RACH/tiand have made flourishעֵץetsthe treeיָבֵשׁya/VESHdryאֲנִיa/NIIיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDדִּבַּרְתִּיdib/BAR/tiI have spokenוְעָשִׂיתִי׃ve/a/SI/tiand I will do it

    And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.
