   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passדְבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDאֵלַיe/LAYto meלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

   And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

   בֶּן־אָדָםben-a/DAMson of manמַה־יִּהְיֶהma-yih/YEwhat isעֵץ־הַגֶּפֶןets-hag/GE/fenthe wood of the vineמִכׇּל־עֵץmik/KOL-etsmore than any woodהַזְּמוֹרָהhaz/ze/mo/RAthe branchאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהָיָהha/YAwasבַּעֲצֵיba/a/TSEamong the trees ofהַיָּעַר׃hay/YA/arthe forest

   Son of man, What is the vine tree more than any tree, or than a branch which is among the trees of the forest?

   הֲיֻקַּחha/yuk/KACHis takenמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nufrom itעֵץetswoodלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto makeלִמְלָאכָהlim/la/KHAany workאִם־יִקְחוּim-yik/CHUor do they takeמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nufrom itיָתֵדya/TEDa pegלִתְלוֹתlit/LOTto hangעָלָיוa/LAYVon itכׇּל־כֶּלִי׃kol-KE/liany vessel

   Shall wood be taken thereof to do any work? or will men take a pin of it to hang any vessel thereon?

   הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdלָאֵשׁla/ESHto the fireנִתַּןnit/TANit is putלְאׇכְלָהle/okh/LAfor fuelאֵת־שְׁנֵיet-she/NEbothקְצוֹתָיוke/tso/TAYVits endsאָכְלָהa/khe/LAhas consumedהָאֵשׁha/ESHthe fireוְתוֹכוֹve/to/KHOand its middleנָחָרna/CHARis charredהֲיִצְלַחha/yits/LACHis it usefulלִמְלָאכָה׃lim/la/KHAfor any work

   Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire devoureth both the ends of it, and the midst of it is burned. Is it meet for any work?

   הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdבִּהְיוֹתוֹbih/yo/TOwhen it wasתָמִיםta/MIMwholeלֹאlonotיֵעָשֶׂהye/a/SEwas it madeלִמְלָאכָהlim/la/KHAfor any workאַףafhow much lessכִּי־אֵשׁki-eshwhen fireאֲכָלַתְהוּa/kha/LAT/huit has consumed itוַיֵּחָרvay/ye/CHARand it is charredוְנַעֲשָׂהve/na/a/SAshall it be madeעוֹדodyetלִמְלָאכָה׃lim/la/KHAfor any work

   Behold, when it was whole, it was meet for no work: how much less shall it be meet yet for any work, when the fire hath devoured it, and it is burned?

   לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeכֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasעֵץ־הַגֶּפֶןets-hag/GE/fenthe vine treeבְּעֵץbe/ETSamong the trees ofהַיַּעַרhay/YA/arthe forestאֲשֶׁר־נְתַתִּיוa/SHER-ne/tat/TIVwhich I have givenלָאֵשׁla/ESHto the fireלְאׇכְלָהle/okh/LAfor fuelכֵּןkenthusנָתַתִּיna/TAT/tiwill I giveאֶת־יֹשְׁבֵיet-yosh/VEthe inhabitants ofיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃Ye/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalem

   Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As the vine tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so will I give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

   וְנָתַתִּיve/na/tat/TIand I will setאֶת־פָּנַיet-pa/NAYmy faceבָּהֶםba/HEMagainst themמֵהָאֵשׁme/ha/ESHfrom the fireיָצָאוּya/TSA/uthey go outוְהָאֵשׁve/ha/ESHand the fireתֹּאכְלֵםto/khe/LEMshall devour themוִידַעְתֶּםvi/da/TEMand you shall knowכִּי־אֲנִיki-a/NIthat I amיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבְּשׂוּמִיbe/su/MIwhen I setאֶת־פָּנַיet-pa/NAYmy faceבָּהֶם׃ba/HEMagainst them

   And I will set my face against them; they shall go out from one fire, and another fire shall devour them; and ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I set my face against them.

8. 8

   וְנָתַתִּיve/na/tat/TIand I will makeאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe landשְׁמָמָהshe/ma/MAdesolateיַעַןYA/anbecauseמָעֲלוּma/a/LUthey have acted treacherouslyמַעַלMA/altreacheryנְאֻםne/UMsaysאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe Lordיֱהֹוִה׃AdonaiGOD

   And I will make the land desolate, because they have committed a trespass, saith the Lord GOD.
