   וַיָּבוֹאvay/ya/VOand cameאֵלַיe/LAYto meאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenמִזִּקְנֵיmiz/zik/NEof the elders ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוַיֵּשְׁבוּvay/yesh/VUand satלְפָנָי׃le/fa/NAYbefore me

   Then came certain of the elders of Israel unto me, and sat before me.

2. 2

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passדְבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDאֵלַיe/LAYto meלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

   And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

   בֶּן־אָדָםben-a/DAMson of manהָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMthe menהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseהֶעֱלוּhe/e/LUhave set upגִלּוּלֵיהֶםgil/lu/le/HEMtheir idolsעַל־לִבָּםal-lib/BAMin their heartsוּמִכְשׁוֹלu/mikh/SHOLand the stumbling block ofעֲוֺנָםa/vo/NAMtheir iniquityנָתְנוּna/te/NUthey have putנֹכַחNO/khachbeforeפְּנֵיהֶםpe/ne/HEMtheir facesהַאִדָּרֹשׁha/id/da/ROSHbe inquired ofאִדָּרֵשׁid/da/RESHshould I be inquired ofלָהֶם׃la/HEMby them

   Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them?

   לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeדַּבֵּר־אוֹתָםdab/BER-o/TAMspeak to themוְאָמַרְתָּve/a/mar/TAand sayאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themכֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saysאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODאִישׁishanyאִישׁishmanמִבֵּיתmib/BETof the house ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoיַעֲלֶהya/a/LEsets upאֶת־גִּלּוּלָיוet-gil/lu/LAYVhis idolsאֶל־לִבּוֹel-lib/BOin his heartוּמִכְשׁוֹלu/mikh/SHOLand the stumbling block ofעֲוֺנוֹa/vo/NOhis iniquityיָשִׂיםya/SIMputsנֹכַחNO/khachbeforeפָּנָיוpa/NAYVhis faceוּבָאu/VAand comesאֶל־הַנָּבִיאel-han/na/VIto the prophetאֲנִיa/NIIיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDנַעֲנֵיתִיna/a/NE/tiwill answerלוֹlohim(בה)vah[בָא]vahe comesבְּרֹבbe/ROVwith the multitude ofגִּלּוּלָיו׃gil/lu/LAYVhis idols

   Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols;

   לְמַעַןle/MA/anthatתְּפֹשׂte/FOSI may takeאֶת־בֵּית־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Bet-yis/ra/ELthe house of Israelבְּלִבָּםbe/lib/BAMin their heartאֲשֶׁרa/SHERbecauseנָזֹרוּna/ZO/ruthey are estrangedמֵעָלַיme/a/LAYfrom meבְּגִלּוּלֵיהֶםbe/gil/lu/le/HEMby their idolsכֻּלָּם׃kul/LAMall of them

   That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.

   לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאֱמֹרe/MORsayאֶל־בֵּיתel-betto the house ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelכֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODשׁוּבוּSHU/vurepentוְהָשִׁיבוּve/ha/SHI/vuand turnמֵעַלme/ALfromגִּלּוּלֵיכֶםgil/lu/le/KHEMyour idolsוּמֵעַלu/me/ALand fromכׇּל־תּוֹעֲבֹתֵיכֶםkol-to/a/vo/te/KHEMall your abominationsהָשִׁיבוּha/SHI/vuturn awayפְנֵיכֶם׃fe/ne/KHEMyour faces

   Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

   כִּיkiforאִישׁishanyאִישׁishmanמִבֵּיתmib/BETof the house ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוּמֵהַגֵּרu/me/hag/GERor of the strangerאֲשֶׁר־יָגוּרa/SHER-ya/GURwho sojournsבְּיִשְׂרָאֵלbe/Yis/ra/ELin Israelוְיִנָּזֵרve/yin/na/ZERand separates himselfמֵאַחֲרַיme/a/cha/RAYfrom meוְיַעַלve/YA/aland sets upגִּלּוּלָיוgil/lu/LAYVhis idolsאֶל־לִבּוֹel-lib/BOin his heartוּמִכְשׁוֹלu/mikh/SHOLand the stumbling block ofעֲוֺנוֹa/vo/NOhis iniquityיָשִׂיםya/SIMputsנֹכַחNO/khachbeforeפָּנָיוpa/NAYVhis faceוּבָאu/VAand comesאֶל־הַנָּבִיאel-han/na/VIto the prophetלִדְרׇשׁ־לוֹlid/ROSH-loto inquire for himselfבִיviof meאֲנִיa/NIIיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDנַעֲנֶה־לּוֹna/a/NE-lowill answer himבִּי׃biby myself

   For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to enquire of him concerning me; I the LORD will answer him by myself:

8. 8

   וְנָתַתִּיve/na/tat/TIand I will setפָנַיfa/NAYmy faceבָּאִישׁba/ISHagainst the manהַהוּאha/HUthatוַהֲשִׂמֹתִיהוּva/ha/si/mo/TI/huand make himלְאוֹתle/OTfor a signוְלִמְשָׁלִיםve/lim/sha/LIMand a bywordוְהִכְרַתִּיוve/hikh/rat/TIVand I will cut him offמִתּוֹךְmit/TOKHfrom the midst ofעַמִּיam/MImy peopleוִידַעְתֶּםvi/da/TEMand you shall knowכִּי־אֲנִיki-a/NIthat I amיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

   And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

9. 9

   וְהַנָּבִיאve/han/na/VIand the prophetכִי־יְפֻתֶּהkhi-ye/fut/TEif is deceivedוְדִבֶּרve/dib/BERand speaksדָּבָרda/VARa wordאֲנִיa/NIIיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDפִּתֵּיתִיpit/TE/tihave deceivedאֵת־הַנָּבִיאet-han/na/VIthe prophetהַהוּאha/HUthatוְנָטִיתִיve/na/TI/tiand I will stretch outאֶת־יָדִיet-ya/DImy handעָלָיוa/LAYVagainst himוְהִשְׁמַדְתִּיוve/hish/mad/TIVand I will destroy himמִתּוֹךְmit/TOKHfrom the midst ofעַמִּיam/MImy peopleיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

   And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.

10. 10

    וְנָשְׂאוּve/na/se/Uand they will bearעֲוֺנָםa/vo/NAMtheir iniquityכַּעֲוֺןka/a/VONas the iniquity ofהַדֹּרֵשׁhad/do/RESHof the inquirerכַּעֲוֺןka/a/VONas the iniquity ofהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetיִהְיֶה׃yih/YEso shall be

    And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet shall be even as the punishment of him that seeketh unto him;

    לְמַעַןle/MA/anthatלֹא־יִתְעוּlo-yit/Umay not go astrayעוֹדodagainבֵּית־יִשְׂרָאֵלbet-Yis/ra/ELthe house of Israelמֵאַחֲרַיme/a/cha/RAYfrom meוְלֹא־יִטַּמְּאוּve/LO-yit/tam/me/Unor defile themselvesעוֹדodagainבְּכׇל־פִּשְׁעֵיהֶםbe/KHOL-pish/e/HEMin all their transgressionsוְהָיוּ־לִיve/ha/YU-libut they shall be myלְעָםle/AMpeopleוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iאֶהְיֶהeh/YEwill beלָהֶםla/HEMtheirלֵאלֹהִיםle/lo/HIMGodנְאֻםne/UMsaysאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe Lordיֱהֹוִה׃AdonaiGOD

    That the house of Israel may go no more astray from me, neither be polluted any more with all their transgressions; but that they may be my people, and I may be their God, saith the Lord GOD.

12. 12

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passדְבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDאֵלַיe/LAYto meלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    The word of the LORD came again to me, saying,

13. 13

    בֶּן־אָדָםben-a/DAMson of manאֶרֶץE/retsa landכִּיkiwhenתֶחֱטָא־לִיte/che/TA-lisins against meלִמְעׇל־מַעַלlim/OL-MA/alto commit treacheryוְנָטִיתִיve/na/TI/tiand I will stretch outיָדִיya/DImy handעָלֶיהָa/LE/haagainst itוְשָׁבַרְתִּיve/sha/var/TIand I will breakלָהּlaitsמַטֵּה־לָחֶםmat/TE-LA/chemthe staff of breadוְהִשְׁלַחְתִּי־בָהּve/hish/lach/TI-vaand send on itרָעָבra/AVfamineוְהִכְרַתִּיve/hikh/rat/TIand cut offמִמֶּנָּהmim/MEN/nafrom itאָדָםa/DAMmanוּבְהֵמָה׃u/ve/he/MAand beast

    Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it:

14. 14

    וְהָיוּve/ha/YUthough wereשְׁלֹשֶׁתshe/LO/shetthreeהָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMthe menהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseבְּתוֹכָהּbe/to/KHAin its midstנֹחַNO/achNoah[דָּנִיֵּאל]Da/niy/YELDanielוְאִיּוֹבve/Iy/YOVand JobהֵמָּהHEM/matheyבְצִדְקָתָםve/tsid/ka/TAMby their righteousnessיְנַצְּלוּye/nats/tse/LUwould deliverנַפְשָׁםnaf/SHAMtheir own soulsנְאֻםne/UMsaysאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe Lordיֱהֹוִה׃AdonaiGOD

    Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord GOD.

15. 15

    לוּ־חַיָּהlu-chay/YAif beastsרָעָהra/Aevilאַעֲבִירa/a/VIRI cause to pass throughבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landוְשִׁכְּלָתָּהve/shik/ke/LAT/taand they bereave itוְהָיְתָהve/ha/ye/TAand it becomesשְׁמָמָהshe/ma/MAa desolationמִבְּלִיmib/be/LIwithoutעוֹבֵרo/VERanyone passing throughמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofהַחַיָּה׃ha/chay/YAthe beasts

    If I cause noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they spoil it, so that it be desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts:

16. 16

    שְׁלֹשֶׁתshe/LO/shetthough threeהָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMthe menהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseבְּתוֹכָהּbe/to/KHAin its midstחַי־אָנִיchay-A/nias I liveנְאֻםne/UMsaysאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODאִם־בָּנִיםim-ba/NIMneither sonsוְאִם־בָּנוֹתve/IM-ba/NOTnor daughtersיַצִּילוּyats/TSI/luthey shall deliverהֵמָּהHEM/matheyלְבַדָּםle/vad/DAMaloneיִנָּצֵלוּyin/na/TSE/lushall be deliveredוְהָאָרֶץve/ha/A/retsand the landתִּהְיֶהtih/YEshall beשְׁמָמָה׃she/ma/MAdesolate

    Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only shall be delivered, but the land shall be desolate.

17. 17

    אוֹoorחֶרֶבCHE/reva swordאָבִיאa/VII will bringעַל־הָאָרֶץal-ha/A/retson the landהַהִיאha/HIthatוְאָמַרְתִּיve/a/mar/TIand sayחֶרֶבCHE/reva swordתַּעֲבֹרta/a/VORpass throughבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landוְהִכְרַתִּיve/hikh/rat/TIand cut offמִמֶּנָּהmim/MEN/nafrom itאָדָםa/DAMmanוּבְהֵמָה׃u/ve/he/MAand beast

    Or if I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off man and beast from it:

18. 18

    וּשְׁלֹשֶׁתu/she/LO/shetthough threeהָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMthe menהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseבְּתוֹכָהּbe/to/KHAin its midstחַי־אָנִיchay-A/nias I liveנְאֻםne/UMsaysאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODלֹאlonotיַצִּילוּyats/TSI/luthey shall deliverבָּנִיםba/NIMsonsוּבָנוֹתu/va/NOTand daughtersכִּיkibutהֵםhemtheyלְבַדָּםle/vad/DAMaloneיִנָּצֵלוּ׃yin/na/TSE/lushall be delivered

    Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only shall be delivered themselves.

19. 19

    אוֹoorדֶּבֶרDE/vera pestilenceאֲשַׁלַּחa/shal/LACHI sendאֶל־הָאָרֶץel-ha/A/retsto the landהַהִיאha/HIthatוְשָׁפַכְתִּיve/sha/fakh/TIand pour outחֲמָתִיcha/ma/TImy furyעָלֶיהָa/LE/haon itבְּדָםbe/DAMin bloodלְהַכְרִיתle/hakh/RITto cut offמִמֶּנָּהmim/MEN/nafrom itאָדָםa/DAMmanוּבְהֵמָה׃u/ve/he/MAand beast

    Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my fury upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast:

20. 20

    וְנֹחַve/NO/achthough Noah[דָּנִיֵּאל]Da/niy/YELDanielוְאִיּוֹבve/Iy/YOVand Jobבְּתוֹכָהּbe/to/KHAin its midstחַי־אָנִיchay-A/nias I liveנְאֻםne/UMsaysאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODאִם־בֵּןim-benneither sonאִם־בַּתim-batnor daughterיַצִּילוּyats/TSI/luthey shall deliverהֵמָּהHEM/matheyבְצִדְקָתָםve/tsid/ka/TAMby their righteousnessיַצִּילוּyats/TSI/luthey would deliverנַפְשָׁם׃naf/SHAMtheir own souls

    Though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness.

21. 21

    כִּיkiforכֹהkhothusאָמַרa/MARsaysאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODאַףafhow much moreכִּי־אַרְבַּעַתki-ar/BA/atwhen fourשְׁפָטַיshe/fa/TAYmy judgmentsהָרָעִיםha/ra/IMevilחֶרֶבCHE/revswordוְרָעָבve/ra/AVand famineוְחַיָּהve/chay/YAand beastsרָעָהra/Aevilוָדֶבֶרva/DE/verand pestilenceשִׁלַּחְתִּיshil/LACH/tiI sendאֶל־יְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִםel-Ye/ru/sha/LA/yimto Jerusalemלְהַכְרִיתle/hakh/RITto cut offמִמֶּנָּהmim/MEN/nafrom itאָדָםa/DAMmanוּבְהֵמָה׃u/ve/he/MAand beast

    For thus saith the Lord GOD; How much more when I send my four sore judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast?

22. 22

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdנוֹתְרָה־בָּהּnot/RA-bashall be left in itפְּלֵטָהpe/le/TAa remnantהַמּוּצָאִיםham/mu/tsa/IMthat shall be brought outבָּנִיםba/NIMsonsוּבָנוֹתu/va/NOTand daughtersהִנָּםhin/NAMbehold theyיוֹצְאִיםyots/IMshall come outאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youוּרְאִיתֶםu/re/i/TEMand you shall seeאֶת־דַּרְכָּםet-dar/KAMtheir wayוְאֶת־עֲלִילוֹתָםve/ET-a/li/lo/TAMand their deedsוְנִחַמְתֶּםve/ni/cham/TEMand you will be comfortedעַל־הָרָעָהal-ha/ra/Aconcerning the evilאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהֵבֵאתִיhe/VE/tiI have broughtעַל־יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםal-Ye/ru/sha/LA/yimon Jerusalemאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרet-kol-a/SHERall thatהֵבֵאתִיhe/VE/tiI have broughtעָלֶיהָ׃a/LE/haon it

    Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be brought forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings: and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it.

23. 23

    וְנִחֲמוּve/ni/cha/MUand they shall comfortאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouכִּי־תִרְאוּki-tir/Uwhen you seeאֶת־דַּרְכָּםet-dar/KAMtheir wayוְאֶת־עֲלִילוֹתָםve/ET-a/li/lo/TAMand their deedsוִידַעְתֶּםvi/da/TEMand you shall knowכִּיkithatלֹאlonotחִנָּםchin/NAMwithout causeעָשִׂיתִיa/SI/tihave I doneאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־עָשִׂיתִיet-kol-a/SHER-a/SI/tiall that I have doneבָהּvain itנְאֻםne/UMsaysאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe Lordיֱהֹוִה׃AdonaiGOD

    And they shall comfort you, when ye see their ways and their doings: and ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, saith the Lord GOD.
