   Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.

   In the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin's captivity,

   הָיֹהha/YOcameהָיָהha/YAcameדְבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDאֶל־יְחֶזְקֵאלel-Ye/chez/KELto Ezekielבֶּן־בּוּזִיben-Bu/ZIson of Buziהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofכַּשְׂדִּיםKas/DIMChaldeansעַל־נְהַר־כְּבָרal-Ne/HAR-ke/VARby the river Chebarוַתְּהִיvat/te/HIand wasעָלָיוa/LAYVon himשָׁםshamthereיַד־יְהֹוָה׃yad-Adonaithe hand of the LORD

   The word of the LORD came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the LORD was there upon him.

   וָאֵרֶאva/E/reand I sawוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdרוּחַRU/acha wind ofסְעָרָהse/a/RAstormבָּאָהba/Acameמִן־הַצָּפוֹןmin-hats/tsa/FONfrom the northעָנָןa/NANa cloudגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatוְאֵשׁve/ESHand fireמִתְלַקַּחַתmit/lak/KA/chatflashingוְנֹגַהּ־לוֹve/NO/ga-loand a brightness to itסָבִיבsa/VIVall aroundוּמִתּוֹכָהּu/mit/to/KHAand out of the midst of itכְּעֵיןke/ENlike the gleam ofהַחַשְׁמַלha/chash/MALelectrumמִתּוֹךְmit/TOKHfrom the midst ofהָאֵשׁ׃ha/ESHthe fire

   And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.

   Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.

   וְאַרְבָּעָהve/ar/ba/Aand fourפָנִיםfa/NIMfacesלְאֶחָתle/e/CHATeachוְאַרְבַּעve/ar/BAand fourכְּנָפַיִםke/na/FA/yimwingsלְאַחַתle/a/CHATeachלָהֶם׃la/HEMhad

   And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.

   וְרַגְלֵיהֶםve/rag/le/HEMand their feetרֶגֶלRE/gelfootיְשָׁרָהye/sha/RAstraightוְכַףve/KHAFand the sole ofרַגְלֵיהֶםrag/le/HEMtheir feetכְּכַףke/KHAFlike the sole ofרֶגֶלRE/gelthe foot ofעֵגֶלE/gela calfוְנֹצְצִיםve/nots/TSIMand they sparkledכְּעֵיןke/ENlike the gleam ofנְחֹשֶׁתne/CHO/shetbronzeקָלָל׃ka/LALburnished

   And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass.

   And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.

   חֹבְרֹתchov/ROTwere joinedאִשָּׁהish/SHAoneאֶל־אֲחוֹתָהּel-a/cho/TAto anotherכַּנְפֵיהֶםkan/fe/HEMtheir wingsלֹא־יִסַּבּוּlo-yis/SAB/buthey did not turnבְלֶכְתָּןve/lekh/TANwhen they wentאִישׁisheachאֶל־עֵבֶרel-E/vertoward the side ofפָּנָיוpa/NAYVhis faceיֵלֵכוּ׃ye/LE/khuthey went

   Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.

    וּדְמוּתu/de/MUTand the likeness ofפְּנֵיהֶםpe/ne/HEMtheir facesפְּנֵיpe/NEthe face ofאָדָםa/DAMa manוּפְנֵיu/fe/NEand the face ofאַרְיֵהar/YEa lionאֶל־הַיָּמִיןel-hay/ya/MINon the right sideלְאַרְבַּעְתָּםle/ar/ba/TAMthe four hadוּפְנֵי־שׁוֹרu/fe/NE-shorand the face of an oxמֵהַשְּׂמֹאולme/has/se/MOLon the leftלְאַרְבַּעְתָּןle/ar/ba/TANthe four hadוּפְנֵי־נֶשֶׁרu/fe/NE-NE/sherand the face of an eagleלְאַרְבַּעְתָּן׃le/ar/ba/TANthe four had

    As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.

    וּפְנֵיהֶםu/fe/ne/HEMand their facesוְכַנְפֵיהֶםve/khan/fe/HEMand their wingsפְּרֻדוֹתpe/ru/DOTwere spread outמִלְמָעְלָהmil/MA/laaboveלְאִישׁle/ISHeach hadשְׁתַּיִםSHTA/yimtwoחֹבְרוֹתchov/ROTjoinedאִישׁishto one anotherוּשְׁתַּיִםush/TA/yimand twoמְכַסּוֹתme/khas/SOTcoveredאֵת־גְּוִיֹּתֵיהֶנָה׃et-ge/viy/yo/te/he/NAtheir bodies

    Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.

    וְאִישׁve/ISHand eachאֶל־עֵבֶרel-E/vertoward the side ofפָּנָיוpa/NAYVhis faceיֵלֵכוּye/LE/khuthey wentאֶלeltoאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereיִהְיֶה־שָּׁמָּהyih/YE-SHAM/mawould be thereהָרוּחַha/RU/achthe Spiritלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetto goיֵלֵכוּye/LE/khuthey wentלֹאlonotיִסַּבּוּyis/SAB/buthey turnedבְּלֶכְתָּן׃be/lekh/TANwhen they moved

    And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went.

13. 13

    וּדְמוּתu/de/MUTand the likeness ofהַחַיּוֹתha/chay/YOTthe living creaturesמַרְאֵיהֶםmar/e/HEMtheir appearance wasכְּגַחֲלֵי־אֵשׁke/ga/cha/LE-eshwas like coals of fireבֹּעֲרוֹתbo/a/ROTburningכְּמַרְאֵהke/mar/Eas the appearance ofהַלַּפִּדִיםhal/lap/pi/DIMthe torchesהִיאhiitמִתְהַלֶּכֶתmit/hal/LE/khetwent up and downבֵּיןbenamongהַחַיּוֹתha/chay/YOTthe living creaturesוְנֹגַהּve/NO/gaand brightלָאֵשׁla/ESHwas the fireוּמִן־הָאֵשׁu/MIN-ha/ESHand from the fireיוֹצֵאyo/TSEwent outבָרָק׃va/RAKlightning

    As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.

14. 14

    וְהַחַיּוֹתve/ha/chay/YOTand the living creaturesרָצוֹאra/TSOranוָשׁוֹבva/SHOVand returnedכְּמַרְאֵהke/mar/Eas the appearance ofהַבָּזָק׃hab/ba/ZAKthe lightning

    And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.

15. 15

    וָאֵרֶאva/E/reand I sawהַחַיּוֹתha/chay/YOTthe living creaturesוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdאוֹפַןo/FANa wheelאֶחָדe/CHADoneבָּאָרֶץba/A/retson the earthאֵצֶלE/tselbesideהַחַיּוֹתha/chay/YOTthe living creaturesלְאַרְבַּעַתle/ar/BA/atfor each of the four ofפָּנָיו׃pa/NAYVtheir faces

    Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces.

16. 16

    מַרְאֵהmar/Ethe appearance ofהָאוֹפַנִּיםha/o/fan/NIMthe wheelsוּמַעֲשֵׂיהֶםu/ma/a/se/HEMand their worksכְּעֵיןke/ENlike the gleam ofתַּרְשִׁישׁtar/SHISHberylוּדְמוּתu/de/MUTand likenessאֶחָדe/CHADoneלְאַרְבַּעְתָּןle/ar/ba/TANthe four hadוּמַרְאֵיהֶםu/mar/e/HEMand their appearanceוּמַעֲשֵׂיהֶםu/ma/a/se/HEMand their worksכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasיִהְיֶהyih/YEwereהָאוֹפַןha/o/FANthe wheelבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHwithinהָאוֹפָן׃ha/o/FANthe wheel

    The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.

    עַל־אַרְבַּעַתal-ar/BA/aton their fourרִבְעֵיהֶןriv/e/HENsidesבְּלֶכְתָּםbe/lekh/TAMwhen they wentיֵלֵכוּye/LE/khuthey wentלֹאlonotיִסַּבּוּyis/SAB/buthey turnedבְּלֶכְתָּן׃be/lekh/TANwhen they moved

    When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they went.

18. 18

    וְגַבֵּיהֶןve/gab/be/HENand their rimsוְגֹבַהּve/GO/vaand heightלָהֶםla/HEMthey hadוְיִרְאָהve/yir/Aand aweלָהֶםla/HEMthey hadוְגַבֹּתָםve/gab/bo/TAMand their rimsמְלֵאֹתme/le/OTwere full ofעֵינַיִםe/NA/yimeyesסָבִיבsa/VIVall aroundלְאַרְבַּעְתָּן׃le/ar/ba/TANto the four of them

    As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four.

19. 19

    וּבְלֶכֶתu/ve/LE/khetand when wentהַחַיּוֹתha/chay/YOTthe living creaturesיֵלְכוּyel/KHUwentהָאוֹפַנִּיםha/o/fan/NIMthe wheelsאֶצְלָםets/LAMbeside themוּבְהִנָּשֵׂאu/ve/hin/na/SEand when roseהַחַיּוֹתha/chay/YOTthe living creaturesמֵעַלme/ALfromהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe earthיִנָּשְׂאוּyin/na/se/Uwere lifted upהָאוֹפַנִּים׃ha/o/fan/NIMthe wheels

    And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.

20. 20

    עַלaltoאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereיִהְיֶה־שָּׁםyih/YE-shamwas thereהָרוּחַha/RU/achthe Spiritלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetto goיֵלֵכוּye/LE/khuthey wentשָׁמָּהSHAM/mathereהָרוּחַha/RU/achthe Spiritלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetto goוְהָאוֹפַנִּיםve/ha/o/fan/NIMand the wheelsיִנָּשְׂאוּyin/na/se/Uwere lifted upלְעֻמָּתָםle/um/ma/TAMclose by themכִּיkiforרוּחַRU/achthe spirit ofהַחַיָּהha/chay/YAthe living creatureבָּאוֹפַנִּים׃ba/o/fan/NIMwas in the wheels

    Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

21. 21

    בְּלֶכְתָּםbe/lekh/TAMwhen they wentיֵלֵכוּye/LE/khuthey wentוּבְעׇמְדָםu/ve/om/DAMand when they stoodיַעֲמֹדוּya/a/MO/duthey stoodוּבְהִנָּשְׂאָםu/ve/hin/na/se/AMand when they were lifted upמֵעַלme/ALfromהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe earthיִנָּשְׂאוּyin/na/se/Uwere lifted upהָאוֹפַנִּיםha/o/fan/NIMthe wheelsלְעֻמָּתָםle/um/ma/TAMclose by themכִּיkiforרוּחַRU/achthe spirit ofהַחַיָּהha/chay/YAthe living creatureבָּאוֹפַנִּים׃ba/o/fan/NIMwas in the wheels

    When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

22. 22

    וּדְמוּתu/de/MUTand the likeness ofעַל־רָאשֵׁיal-ra/SHEover the heads ofהַחַיָּהha/chay/YAthe living creatureרָקִיעַra/KI/afirmamentכְּעֵיןke/ENlike the gleam ofהַקֶּרַחhak/KE/rachthe iceהַנּוֹרָאhan/no/RAawesomeנָטוּיna/TUYstretched outעַל־רָאשֵׁיהֶםal-ra/she/HEMover their headsמִלְמָעְלָה׃mil/MA/lafrom above

    And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.

23. 23

    וְתַחַתve/TA/chatand underהָרָקִיעַha/ra/KI/athe firmamentכַּנְפֵיהֶםkan/fe/HEMtheir wingsיְשָׁרוֹתye/sha/ROTstraightאִשָּׁהish/SHAoneאֶל־אֲחוֹתָהּel-a/cho/TAtoward anotherלְאִישׁle/ISHeach hadשְׁתַּיִםSHTA/yimtwoמְכַסּוֹתme/khas/SOTcoveringלָהֵנָּהla/HEN/nathemוּלְאִישׁu/le/ISHand each hadשְׁתַּיִםSHTA/yimtwoמְכַסּוֹתme/khas/SOTcoveringלָהֵנָּהla/HEN/nathemאֵת־גְּוִיֹּתֵיהֶם׃et-ge/viy/yo/te/HEMtheir bodies

    And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies.

24. 24

    וָאֶשְׁמַעva/esh/MAand I heardאֶת־קוֹלet-kolthe voice ofכַּנְפֵיהֶםkan/fe/HEMtheir wingsכְּקוֹלke/KOLlike the sound ofמַיִםMA/yimwatersרַבִּיםrab/BIMgreatכְּקוֹל־שַׁדַּיke/KOL-shad/DAYlike the voice of the Almightyבְּלֶכְתָּםbe/lekh/TAMwhen they wentקוֹלkola sound ofהֲמֻלָּהha/mul/LAtumultכְּקוֹלke/KOLlike the sound ofמַחֲנֶהma/cha/NEan armyבְּעׇמְדָםbe/om/DAMwhen they stoodתְּרַפֶּינָהte/rap/PE/nathey let downכַנְפֵיהֶן׃khan/fe/HENtheir wings

    And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings.

25. 25

    וַיְהִי־קוֹלvay/HI-koland there came a voiceמֵעַלme/ALfrom aboveלָרָקִיעַla/ra/KI/athe firmamentאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat wasעַל־רֹאשָׁםal-ro/SHAMover their headsבְּעׇמְדָםbe/om/DAMwhen they stoodתְּרַפֶּינָהte/rap/PE/nathey let downכַנְפֵיהֶן׃khan/fe/HENtheir wings

    And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.

26. 26

    וּמִמַּעַלu/mim/MA/aland aboveלָרָקִיעַla/ra/KI/athe firmamentאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat wasעַל־רֹאשָׁםal-ro/SHAMover their headsכְּמַרְאֵהke/mar/Eas the appearance ofאֶבֶן־סַפִּירE/ven-sap/PIRa sapphire stoneדְּמוּתde/MUTwas the likeness ofכִּסֵּאkis/SEa throneוְעַלve/ALand onדְּמוּתde/MUTthe likeness ofהַכִּסֵּאhak/kis/SEthe throneדְּמוּתde/MUTwas a likenessכְּמַרְאֵהke/mar/Eas the appearance ofאָדָםa/DAMa manעָלָיוa/LAYVon itמִלְמָעְלָה׃mil/MA/laabove

    And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.

    וָאֵרֶאva/E/reand I sawכְּעֵיןke/ENlike the gleam ofחַשְׁמַלchash/MALelectrumכְּמַרְאֵה־אֵשׁke/mar/E-eshas the appearance of fireבֵּית־לָהּbet-laenclosing itסָבִיבsa/VIVall aroundמִמַּרְאֵהmim/mar/Efrom the appearance ofמׇתְנָיוmot/NAYVhis loinsוּלְמָעְלָהu/le/MA/laupwardוּמִמַּרְאֵהu/mim/mar/Eand from the appearance ofמׇתְנָיוmot/NAYVhis loinsוּלְמַטָּהu/le/MAT/taand downwardרָאִיתִיra/I/tiI sawכְּמַרְאֵה־אֵשׁke/mar/E-eshas the appearance of fireוְנֹגַהּve/NO/gaand the shining ofלוֹloto itסָבִיב׃sa/VIVall around

    And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.

    כְּמַרְאֵהke/mar/Eas the appearance ofהַקֶּשֶׁתhak/KE/shetthe rainbowאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיִהְיֶהyih/YEisבֶעָנָןve/a/NANin the cloudבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the day ofהַגֶּשֶׁםhag/GE/shemthe rainכֵּןkenso wasמַרְאֵהmar/Ethe appearance ofהַנֹּגַהּhan/NO/gathe brightnessסָבִיבsa/VIVall aroundהוּאhuthis wasמַרְאֵהmar/Ethe appearance ofדְּמוּתde/MUTlikeness ofכְּבוֹד־יְהֹוָהke/VOD-Adonaithe glory of the LORDוָאֶרְאֶהva/er/Eand I sawוָאֶפֹּלva/ep/POLand I fellעַל־פָּנַיal-pa/NAYon my faceוָאֶשְׁמַעva/esh/MAand I heardקוֹלkolthe voice ofמְדַבֵּר׃me/dab/BERone speaking

    As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.
