Ezekiel 1 יְחֶזְקֵאל פרק א׳

1. 1

   וַיְהִיand it came to passבִּשְׁלֹשִׁיםin the thirtiethשָׁנָהyearsבָּרְבִיעִיin the fourthבַּחֲמִשָּׁהon the fifthלַחֹדֶשׁof the monthוַאֲנִיand Iבְתוֹךְ־הַגּוֹלָהin the middle of the exilesעַל־נְהַר־כְּבָרupon the river Chebarנִפְתְּחוּwere openedהַשָּׁמַיִםthe heavensוָאֶרְאֶהand I sawמַרְאוֹתvisions ofאֱלֹהִים׃God

   Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.

   בַּחֲמִשָּׁהon the fifthלַחֹדֶשׁof the monthהִיאit isהַשָּׁנָהthe yearהַחֲמִישִׁיתthe fifthלְגָלוּתof the exile ofהַמֶּלֶךְthe kingיוֹיָכִין׃Jehoiachin

   In the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin's captivity,

   הָיֹהsurelyהָיָהwasדְבַר־יְהֹוָהthe word of the LORDאֶל־יְחֶזְקֵאלto Ezekielבֶּן־בּוּזִיson of Buziהַכֹּהֵןthe priestבְּאֶרֶץin the land ofכַּשְׂדִּיםChaldeansעַל־נְהַר־כְּבָרupon the river Chebarוַתְּהִיand wasעָלָיוupon himשָׁםthereיַד־יְהֹוָה׃hand of the LORD

   The word of the LORD came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the LORD was there upon him.

4. 4

   וָאֵרֶאand I sawוְהִנֵּהand beholdרוּחַa wind ofסְעָרָהstormבָּאָהcomesמִן־הַצָּפוֹןfrom the northעָנָןa cloudגָּדוֹלgreatוְאֵשׁand fireמִתְלַקַּחַתwas flashingוְנֹגַהּ־לוֹand a brightness to itסָבִיבall aroundוּמִתּוֹכָהּand out of the midst of itכְּעֵיןlike the appearance ofהַחַשְׁמַלelectrumמִתּוֹךְfrom the midst ofהָאֵשׁ׃the fire

   And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.

   וּמִתּוֹכָהּand out of the midst of itדְּמוּתlikeness ofאַרְבַּעfourחַיּוֹתliving creaturesוְזֶהand thisמַרְאֵיהֶןtheir appearanceדְּמוּתlikeness ofאָדָםmanלָהֵנָּה׃to them

   Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.

6. 6

   וְאַרְבָּעָהand fourפָנִיםfacesלְאֶחָתto oneוְאַרְבַּעand fourכְּנָפַיִםwingsלְאַחַתto oneלָהֶם׃to them

   And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.

7. 7

   וְרַגְלֵיהֶםand their feetרֶגֶלa footיְשָׁרָהstraightוְכַףand the sole ofרַגְלֵיהֶםtheir feetכְּכַףlike the sole ofרֶגֶלa footעֵגֶלa calf ofוְנֹצְצִיםand they were gleamingכְּעֵיןlike the appearance ofנְחֹשֶׁתbrassקָלָל׃burnished

   And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass.

   (וידו)[וִידֵי]and the hands ofאָדָםmanמִתַּחַתfrom beneathכַּנְפֵיהֶםtheir wingsעַלuponאַרְבַּעַתfourרִבְעֵיהֶםtheir sidesוּפְנֵיהֶםand their facesוְכַנְפֵיהֶםand their wingsלְאַרְבַּעְתָּם׃to the four of them

   And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.

9. 9

   חֹבְרֹתjoinedאִשָּׁהa womanאֶל־אֲחוֹתָהּto her sisterכַּנְפֵיהֶםtheir wingsלֹא־יִסַּבּוּnot they turnedבְלֶכְתָּןwhen they movedאִישׁa manאֶל־עֵבֶרto sideפָּנָיוits faceיֵלֵכוּ׃they went

   Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.

    וּדְמוּתand the likeness ofפְּנֵיהֶםtheir facesפְּנֵיface ofאָדָםmanוּפְנֵיand the face ofאַרְיֵהa lionאֶל־הַיָּמִיןto the rightלְאַרְבַּעְתָּםto the four of themוּפְנֵי־שׁוֹרand the face of an oxמֵהַשְּׂמֹאולon the leftלְאַרְבַּעְתָּןto the four of themוּפְנֵי־נֶשֶׁרand the face of an eagleלְאַרְבַּעְתָּן׃to the four of them

    As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.

11. 11

    וּפְנֵיהֶםand their facesוְכַנְפֵיהֶםand their wingsפְּרֻדוֹתwere spread outמִלְמָעְלָהfrom aboveלְאִישׁfor a manשְׁתַּיִםtwoחֹבְרוֹתwere joinedאִישׁa manוּשְׁתַּיִםand twoמְכַסּוֹתwere coveringאֵת־גְּוִיֹּתֵיהֶנָה׃their bodies

    Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.

12. 12

    וְאִישׁand a manאֶל־עֵבֶרto sideפָּנָיוits faceיֵלֵכוּthey wentאֶלtoאֲשֶׁרwhichיִהְיֶה־שָּׁמָּהhe shall be thereהָרוּחַthe Spiritלָלֶכֶתto goיֵלֵכוּthey wentלֹאnotיִסַּבּוּthey turnedבְּלֶכְתָּן׃when they moved

    And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went.

13. 13

    וּדְמוּתand the likeness ofהַחַיּוֹתthe living creaturesמַרְאֵיהֶםtheir appearanceכְּגַחֲלֵי־אֵשׁwas like coals of fireבֹּעֲרוֹתburningכְּמַרְאֵהas the appearance ofהַלַּפִּדִיםthe torchesהִיאitמִתְהַלֶּכֶתwas moving aboutבֵּיןamongהַחַיּוֹתthe living creaturesוְנֹגַהּand the shining ofלָאֵשׁto the fireוּמִן־הָאֵשׁand from the fireיוֹצֵאgoes outבָרָק׃lightning

    As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.

14. 14

    וְהַחַיּוֹתand the living creaturesרָצוֹאthey were runningוָשׁוֹבand returnedכְּמַרְאֵהas the appearance ofהַבָּזָק׃the lightning

    And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.

15. 15

    וָאֵרֶאand I sawהַחַיּוֹתthe living creaturesוְהִנֵּהand beholdאוֹפַןwheel ofאֶחָדoneבָּאָרֶץin the landאֵצֶלnearהַחַיּוֹתthe living creaturesלְאַרְבַּעַתfor the fourפָּנָיו׃its faces

    Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces.

16. 16

    מַרְאֵהthe appearance ofהָאוֹפַנִּיםthe wheelsוּמַעֲשֵׂיהֶםand their worksכְּעֵיןlike the appearance ofתַּרְשִׁישׁemeraldוּדְמוּתand the likeness ofאֶחָדoneלְאַרְבַּעְתָּןto the four of themוּמַרְאֵיהֶםand their appearanceוּמַעֲשֵׂיהֶםand their worksכַּאֲשֶׁרasיִהְיֶהshall beהָאוֹפַןthe wheelבְּתוֹךְin the middle ofהָאוֹפָן׃the wheel

    The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.

17. 17

    עַל־אַרְבַּעַתupon four ofרִבְעֵיהֶןtheir sidesבְּלֶכְתָּםwhen they wentיֵלֵכוּthey wentלֹאnotיִסַּבּוּthey turnedבְּלֶכְתָּן׃when they moved

    When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they went.

18. 18

    וְגַבֵּיהֶןand their rimsוְגֹבַהּand heightלָהֶםto themוְיִרְאָהand dreadfulלָהֶםto themוְגַבֹּתָםand their rimsמְלֵאֹתfullעֵינַיִםof eyesסָבִיבall aroundלְאַרְבַּעְתָּן׃to the four of them

    As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four.

19. 19

    וּבְלֶכֶתand when movedהַחַיּוֹתthe living creaturesיֵלְכוּwentהָאוֹפַנִּיםthe wheelsאֶצְלָםbeside themוּבְהִנָּשֵׂאand when were lifted upהַחַיּוֹתthe living creaturesמֵעַלfrom uponהָאָרֶץthe earthיִנָּשְׂאוּwere lifted upהָאוֹפַנִּים׃the wheels

    And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.

20. 20

    עַלuponאֲשֶׁרwhichיִהְיֶה־שָּׁםwas thereהָרוּחַthe Spiritלָלֶכֶתto goיֵלֵכוּthey wentשָׁמָּהthereהָרוּחַthe Spiritלָלֶכֶתto goוְהָאוֹפַנִּיםand the wheelsיִנָּשְׂאוּwere lifted upלְעֻמָּתָםclose by themכִּיbecauseרוּחַthe spirit ofהַחַיָּהthe living creatureבָּאוֹפַנִּים׃was in the wheels

    Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

21. 21

    בְּלֶכְתָּםwhen they wentיֵלֵכוּthey wentוּבְעׇמְדָםand when they stoodיַעֲמֹדוּthey standוּבְהִנָּשְׂאָםand when they were lifted upמֵעַלfrom uponהָאָרֶץthe earthיִנָּשְׂאוּwere lifted upהָאוֹפַנִּיםthe wheelsלְעֻמָּתָםclose by themכִּיforרוּחַthe spirit ofהַחַיָּהthe living creatureבָּאוֹפַנִּים׃was in the wheels

    When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

22. 22

    וּדְמוּתand the likeness ofעַל־רָאשֵׁיupon the heads ofהַחַיָּהthe living creatureרָקִיעַfirmamentכְּעֵיןlike the appearance ofהַקֶּרַחthe iceהַנּוֹרָאthe terribleנָטוּיstretched outעַל־רָאשֵׁיהֶםupon the heads of themמִלְמָעְלָה׃from above

    And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.

23. 23

    וְתַחַתand underהָרָקִיעַthe firmamentכַּנְפֵיהֶםtheir wingsיְשָׁרוֹתheld straightאִשָּׁהa womanאֶל־אֲחוֹתָהּto her sisterלְאִישׁfor a manשְׁתַּיִםtwoמְכַסּוֹתwere coveringלָהֵנָּהto themוּלְאִישׁand for a manשְׁתַּיִםtwoמְכַסּוֹתwere coveringלָהֵנָּהto themאֵת־גְּוִיֹּתֵיהֶם׃their bodies

    And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies.

24. 24

    וָאֶשְׁמַעand I heardאֶת־קוֹלthe voice ofכַּנְפֵיהֶםtheir wingsכְּקוֹלlike the noise ofמַיִםwaterרַבִּיםmanyכְּקוֹל־שַׁדַּיlike the voice of the Almightyבְּלֶכְתָּםwhen they wentקוֹלthe noise ofהֲמֻלָּהtumultכְּקוֹלlike the noise ofמַחֲנֶהa campבְּעׇמְדָםwhen they stoodתְּרַפֶּינָהthey let dropכַנְפֵיהֶן׃their wings

    And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings.

25. 25

    וַיְהִי־קוֹלand there was a voiceמֵעַלfrom uponלָרָקִיעַto the firmamentאֲשֶׁרwhichעַל־רֹאשָׁםupon their headsבְּעׇמְדָםwhen they stoodתְּרַפֶּינָהthey let dropכַנְפֵיהֶן׃their wings

    And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.

26. 26

    וּמִמַּעַלand aboveלָרָקִיעַto the firmamentאֲשֶׁרwhichעַל־רֹאשָׁםupon their headsכְּמַרְאֵהas the appearance ofאֶבֶן־סַפִּירa sapphire stoneדְּמוּתlikeness ofכִּסֵּאthroneוְעַלand uponדְּמוּתlikeness ofהַכִּסֵּאthe throneדְּמוּתlikeness ofכְּמַרְאֵהas the appearance ofאָדָםmanעָלָיוupon itמִלְמָעְלָה׃from above

    And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.

27. 27

    וָאֵרֶאand I sawכְּעֵיןlike the appearance ofחַשְׁמַלelectrumכְּמַרְאֵה־אֵשׁas the appearance of fireבֵּית־לָהּenclosing itסָבִיבall aroundמִמַּרְאֵהfrom the appearance ofמׇתְנָיוHis-loinsוּלְמָעְלָהand upwardsוּמִמַּרְאֵהand from the appearance ofמׇתְנָיוHis-loinsוּלְמַטָּהand downwardרָאִיתִיI sawכְּמַרְאֵה־אֵשׁas the appearance of fireוְנֹגַהּand the shining ofלוֹto himסָבִיב׃all around

    And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.

28. 28

    כְּמַרְאֵהas the appearance ofהַקֶּשֶׁתthe bowאֲשֶׁרwhichיִהְיֶהshall beבֶעָנָןin the cloudבְּיוֹםin the day ofהַגֶּשֶׁםthe rainכֵּןthusמַרְאֵהthe appearance ofהַנֹּגַהּthe brightnessסָבִיבall aroundהוּאheמַרְאֵהthe appearance ofדְּמוּתlikeness ofכְּבוֹד־יְהֹוָהthe glory of the LORDוָאֶרְאֶהand I sawוָאֶפֹּלand I fellעַל־פָּנַיupon my faceוָאֶשְׁמַעand I heardקוֹלthe voice ofמְדַבֵּר׃speaking

    As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.
