1. 1

   וַיֹּאמֶרand saidיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶל־מֹשֶׁהto Mosesפְּסׇל־לְךָhew youשְׁנֵי־לֻחֹתtwo tablets ofאֲבָנִיםstonesכָּרִאשֹׁנִיםlike the firstוְכָתַבְתִּיand I will writeעַל־הַלֻּחֹתupon the tabletsאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםthe wordsאֲשֶׁרwhichהָיוּwereעַל־הַלֻּחֹתupon the tabletsהָרִאשֹׁנִיםthe firstאֲשֶׁרwhichשִׁבַּרְתָּ׃you brake

   And the LORD said unto Moses, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first: and I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou brakest.

   וֶהְיֵהand beנָכוֹןreadyלַבֹּקֶרto the morningוְעָלִיתָand you will come upבַבֹּקֶרin the morningאֶל־הַרto the mountain ofסִינַיSinaiוְנִצַּבְתָּand you will standלִיbefore Meשָׁםthereעַל־רֹאשׁon the top ofהָהָר׃the mountain

   And be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning unto mount Sinai, and present thyself there to me in the top of the mount.

   וְאִישׁand no manלֹא־יַעֲלֶהshall come upעִמָּךְwith youוְגַם־אִישׁneither let any manאַל־יֵרָאbe seenבְּכׇל־הָהָרin all the mountainגַּם־הַצֹּאןalso the flockוְהַבָּקָרand the cattleאַל־יִרְעוּlet them not feedאֶל־מוּלbeforeהָהָרthe mountainהַהוּא׃that

   And no man shall come up with thee, neither let any man be seen throughout all the mount; neither let the flocks nor herds feed before that mount.

   וַיִּפְסֹלand he hewedשְׁנֵי־לֻחֹתtwo tablets ofאֲבָנִיםstonesכָּרִאשֹׁנִיםlike the firstוַיַּשְׁכֵּםand rose earlyמֹשֶׁהMosesבַבֹּקֶרin the morningוַיַּעַלand he ascendedאֶל־הַרto the mountain ofסִינַיSinaiכַּאֲשֶׁרasצִוָּהcommandedיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֹתוֹhimוַיִּקַּחand tookבְּיָדוֹin his handשְׁנֵיtwoלֻחֹתtablets ofאֲבָנִים׃stones

   And he hewed two tables of stone like unto the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up unto mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tables of stone.

   וַיֵּרֶדand descendedיְהֹוָהthe LORDבֶּעָנָןin a cloudוַיִּתְיַצֵּבand stoodעִמּוֹwith himשָׁםthereוַיִּקְרָאand calledבְשֵׁםthe name ofיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

   And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD.

   וַיַּעֲבֹרand passed byיְהֹוָהthe LORDעַל־פָּנָיוbefore himוַיִּקְרָאand calledיְהֹוָהthe LORDיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֵלGodרַחוּםmercifulוְחַנּוּןand graciousאֶרֶךְlongsufferingאַפַּיִםof angerוְרַב־חֶסֶדand abundant in mercyוֶאֱמֶת׃and truth

   And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,

   נֹצֵרkeepingחֶסֶדmercyלָאֲלָפִיםfor thousandsנֹשֵׂאforgivingעָוֺןiniquityוָפֶשַׁעand transgressionוְחַטָּאָהand sinוְנַקֵּהand by no meansלֹאnotיְנַקֶּהclearing the guiltyפֹּקֵדvisitingעֲוֺןthe iniquity ofאָבוֹתthe fathersעַל־בָּנִיםupon sonsוְעַל־בְּנֵיand upon the sons ofבָנִיםsonsעַל־שִׁלֵּשִׁיםupon the thirdוְעַל־רִבֵּעִים׃and fourth generation

   Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

   וַיְמַהֵרand made hasteמֹשֶׁהMosesוַיִּקֹּדand he bowed lowאַרְצָהtoward the earthוַיִּשְׁתָּחוּ׃and worshiped

   And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped.

9. 9

   וַיֹּאמֶרand saidאִם־נָאif I prayמָצָאתִיI foundחֵןfavorבְּעֵינֶיךָin your eyesאֲדֹנָיLordיֵלֶךְ־נָאlet go I prayאֲדֹנָיLordבְּקִרְבֵּנוּamong usכִּיbecauseעַם־קְשֵׁה־עֹרֶףstiff necked peopleהוּאit isוְסָלַחְתָּand you will forgiveלַעֲוֺנֵנוּour iniquityוּלְחַטָּאתֵנוּand our sinוּנְחַלְתָּנוּ׃and take us for Your inheritance

   And he said, If now I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us; for it is a stiffnecked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance.

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidהִנֵּהbeholdאָנֹכִיIכֹּרֵתmakeבְּרִיתcovenant ofנֶגֶדbeforeכׇּל־עַמְּךָall your peopleאֶעֱשֶׂהI will doנִפְלָאֹתwondersאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־נִבְרְאוּhave not been doneבְכׇל־הָאָרֶץin all the earthוּבְכׇל־הַגּוֹיִםand in all the nationsוְרָאָהand sawכׇל־הָעָםall the peopleאֲשֶׁר־אַתָּהwhich youבְקִרְבּוֹin the midst ofאֶת־מַעֲשֵׂהthe work ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDכִּי־נוֹרָאfor it is a terrible thingהוּאit isאֲשֶׁרwhichאֲנִיIעֹשֶׂהwill doעִמָּךְ׃with you

    And he said, Behold, I make a covenant: before all thy people I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation: and all the people among which thou art shall see the work of the LORD: for it is a terrible thing that I will do with thee.

    שְׁמׇר־לְךָobserve youאֵת־אֲשֶׁרwhichאָנֹכִיIמְצַוְּךָI command youהַיּוֹםthe dayהִנְנִיbehold Iגֹרֵשׁdrive outמִפָּנֶיךָfrom before youאֶת־הָאֱמֹרִיthe Amoriteוְהַכְּנַעֲנִיand the Canaaniteוְהַחִתִּיand the Hittitesוְהַפְּרִזִּיand the Perizziteוְהַחִוִּיand the Hiviteוְהַיְבוּסִי׃and the Jebusite

    Observe thou that which I command thee this day: behold, I drive out before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.

12. 12

    הִשָּׁמֶרtake heedלְךָfor youפֶּן־תִּכְרֹתlest you makeבְּרִיתcovenant ofלְיוֹשֵׁבwith the inhabitants ofהָאָרֶץthe earthאֲשֶׁרwhichאַתָּהyouבָּאyou goעָלֶיהָupon itפֶּן־יִהְיֶהlest he shall beלְמוֹקֵשׁfor a snareבְּקִרְבֶּךָ׃in the midst of you

    Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee:

13. 13

    כִּיbutאֶת־מִזְבְּחֹתָםtheir altarsתִּתֹּצוּןyou shall destroyוְאֶת־מַצֵּבֹתָםand their imagesתְּשַׁבֵּרוּןbreakוְאֶת־אֲשֵׁרָיוand their grovesתִּכְרֹתוּן׃cut down

    But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves:

14. 14

    כִּיbecauseלֹאnotתִשְׁתַּחֲוֶהyou shall worshipלְאֵלto godאַחֵרanotherכִּיbecauseיְהֹוָהthe LORDקַנָּאjealousשְׁמוֹis His nameאֵלGodקַנָּאjealousהוּא׃He is

    For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:

15. 15

    פֶּן־תִּכְרֹתlest you makeבְּרִיתcovenant ofלְיוֹשֵׁבwith the inhabitants ofהָאָרֶץthe earthוְזָנוּand they go a whoringאַחֲרֵיafterאֱלֹהֵיהֶםtheir godsוְזָבְחוּand they will sacrificeלֵאלֹהֵיהֶםunto their godsוְקָרָאand one callלְךָyouוְאָכַלְתָּand you shall eatמִזִּבְחוֹ׃of his sacrifice

    Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice;

16. 16

    וְלָקַחְתָּand you will takeמִבְּנֹתָיוof their daughtersלְבָנֶיךָunto your sonsוְזָנוּand go a whoringבְנֹתָיוtheir daughtersאַחֲרֵיafterאֱלֹהֵיהֶןtheir godsוְהִזְנוּand make go a whoringאֶת־בָּנֶיךָyour sonsאַחֲרֵיafterאֱלֹהֵיהֶן׃their gods

    And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods.

17. 17

    אֱלֹהֵיgods ofמַסֵּכָהmolten metalלֹאnotתַעֲשֶׂה־לָּךְ׃shall you make to you

    Thou shalt make thee no molten gods.

18. 18

    אֶת־חַגthe feast ofהַמַּצּוֹתthe unleavened breadתִּשְׁמֹרyou keepשִׁבְעַתsevenיָמִיםdaysתֹּאכַלyou will eatמַצּוֹתunleavened breadאֲשֶׁרwhichצִוִּיתִךָI commanded youלְמוֹעֵדin the time appointed ofחֹדֶשׁthe monthהָאָבִיבAbibכִּיforבְּחֹדֶשׁin the month ofהָאָבִיבAbibיָצָאתָyou came outמִמִּצְרָיִם׃from Egypt

    The feast of unleavened bread shalt thou keep. Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, as I commanded thee, in the time of the month Abib: for in the month Abib thou camest out from Egypt.

19. 19

    כׇּל־פֶּטֶרall that opensרֶחֶםthe wombלִיis Mineוְכׇל־מִקְנְךָand every firstling among your cattleתִּזָּכָרthat is maleפֶּטֶרthat opensשׁוֹרan oxוָשֶׂה׃or sheep

    All that openeth the matrix is mine; and every firstling among thy cattle, whether ox or sheep, that is male.

20. 20

    וּפֶטֶרbut that opensחֲמוֹרa donkeyתִּפְדֶּהyou will redeemבְשֶׂהwith a sheepוְאִם־לֹאand if notתִפְדֶּהyou redeemוַעֲרַפְתּוֹthen shall you break his neckכֹּלallבְּכוֹרthe firstborn ofבָּנֶיךָyour sonsתִּפְדֶּהyou will redeemוְלֹא־יֵרָאוּand none shall appearפָנַיbefore Meרֵיקָם׃empty

    But the firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb: and if thou redeem him not, then shalt thou break his neck. All the firstborn of thy sons thou shalt redeem. And none shall appear before me empty.

21. 21

    שֵׁשֶׁתsixיָמִיםdaysתַּעֲבֹדyou shall workוּבַיּוֹםand in the dayהַשְּׁבִיעִיthe seventhתִּשְׁבֹּתyou shall restבֶּחָרִישׁin earing timeוּבַקָּצִירand in harvestתִּשְׁבֹּת׃you shall rest

    Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.

22. 22

    וְחַגand the feast ofשָׁבֻעֹתweeksתַּעֲשֶׂהyou makeלְךָfor youבִּכּוּרֵיof the firstfruits ofקְצִירharvestחִטִּיםwheatוְחַגand the feast ofהָאָסִיףingatheringתְּקוּפַתat the year's endהַשָּׁנָה׃the year

    And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year's end.

23. 23

    שָׁלֹשׁthreeפְּעָמִיםtimesבַּשָּׁנָהin the yearיֵרָאֶהshall appearכׇּל־זְכוּרְךָall your men childrenאֶת־פְּנֵיbeforeהָאָדֹןthe Lordיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel

    Thrice in the year shall all your men children appear before the Lord GOD, the God of Israel.

24. 24

    כִּי־אוֹרִישׁfor I will cast outגּוֹיִםnationsמִפָּנֶיךָfrom before youוְהִרְחַבְתִּיand enlargeאֶת־גְּבֻלֶךָyour bordersוְלֹא־יַחְמֹדneither shall desireאִישׁmanאֶת־אַרְצְךָyour landבַּעֲלֹתְךָwhen you shall go upלֵרָאוֹתto appearאֶת־פְּנֵיbeforeיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָyour Godשָׁלֹשׁthreeפְּעָמִיםtimesבַּשָּׁנָה׃in the year

    For I will cast out the nations before thee, and enlarge thy borders: neither shall any man desire thy land, when thou shalt go up to appear before the LORD thy God thrice in the year.

25. 25

    לֹא־תִשְׁחַטyou shall not offerעַל־חָמֵץupon leavenדַּם־זִבְחִיthe blood of My sacrificeוְלֹא־יָלִיןneither shall be leftלַבֹּקֶרto the morningזֶבַחthe sacrifice ofחַגthe feast ofהַפָּסַח׃the passover

    Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the passover be left unto the morning.

26. 26

    רֵאשִׁיתthe beginning ofבִּכּוּרֵיthe first fruits ofאַדְמָתְךָyour landתָּבִיאyou shall bringבֵּיתthe house ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָyour Godלֹא־תְבַשֵּׁלyou shall not seetheגְּדִיa kidבַּחֲלֵבin the milk ofאִמּוֹ׃his mother

    The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring unto the house of the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk.

27. 27

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶל־מֹשֶׁהto Mosesכְּתׇב־לְךָwrite youאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהtheseכִּיforעַל־פִּיaccording toהַדְּבָרִיםwordsהָאֵלֶּהtheseכָּרַתִּיI have madeאִתְּךָwith youבְּרִיתcovenant ofוְאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃and with Israel

    And the LORD said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.

28. 28

    וַיְהִי־שָׁםand he was thereעִם־יְהֹוָהwith the LORDאַרְבָּעִיםfortyיוֹםdayוְאַרְבָּעִיםand fortyלַיְלָהnightלֶחֶםbreadלֹאnotאָכַלateוּמַיִםand waterלֹאnotשָׁתָהhe drankוַיִּכְתֹּבand he wroteעַל־הַלֻּחֹתupon the tabletsאֵת־דִּבְרֵיthe words ofהַבְּרִיתthe covenantעֲשֶׂרֶתthe tenהַדְּבָרִים׃Declarations

    And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.

29. 29

    וַיְהִיand it wasבְּרֶדֶתwhen came downמֹשֶׁהMosesמֵהַרfrom the mountain ofסִינַיSinaiוּשְׁנֵיand the twoלֻחֹתtablets ofהָעֵדֻתthe testimonyבְּיַד־מֹשֶׁהin the hand of Mosesבְּרִדְתּוֹwhen he came downמִן־הָהָרfrom the mountainוּמֹשֶׁהand Mosesלֹא־יָדַעnot he knewכִּיthatקָרַןshoneעוֹרthe skin ofפָּנָיוhis faceבְּדַבְּרוֹwhile he talkedאִתּוֹ׃with him

    And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him.

30. 30

    וַיַּרְאand sawאַהֲרֹןAaronוְכׇל־בְּנֵיand all sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelאֶת־מֹשֶׁהMosesוְהִנֵּהand beholdקָרַןshoneעוֹרthe skin ofפָּנָיוhis faceוַיִּירְאוּand they fearedמִגֶּשֶׁתto come nighאֵלָיו׃to him

    And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come nigh him.

31. 31

    וַיִּקְרָאand calledאֲלֵהֶםunto themמֹשֶׁהMosesוַיָּשֻׁבוּand returnedאֵלָיוto himאַהֲרֹןAaronוְכׇל־הַנְּשִׂאִיםand all the rulersבָּעֵדָהof the congregationוַיְדַבֵּרand spokeמֹשֶׁהMosesאֲלֵהֶם׃unto them

    And Moses called unto them; and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned unto him: and Moses talked with them.

32. 32

    וְאַחֲרֵי־כֵןand afterwardנִגְּשׁוּcame nighכׇּל־בְּנֵיall sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelוַיְצַוֵּםand he charged themאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרall thatדִּבֶּרspokeיְהֹוָהthe LORDאִתּוֹwith himבְּהַרin mountסִינָי׃Sinai

    And afterward all the children of Israel came nigh: and he gave them in commandment all that the LORD had spoken with him in mount Sinai.

33. 33

    וַיְכַלand till had doneמֹשֶׁהMosesמִדַּבֵּרspeakingאִתָּםwith themוַיִּתֵּןand gaveעַל־פָּנָיוon his faceמַסְוֶה׃a veil

    And till Moses had done speaking with them, he put a vail on his face.

34. 34

    וּבְבֹאand when went inמֹשֶׁהMosesלִפְנֵיbeforeיְהֹוָהthe LORDלְדַבֵּרto speakאִתּוֹwith himיָסִירhe took offאֶת־הַמַּסְוֶהthe veilעַד־צֵאתוֹuntil he went outוְיָצָאand he came outוְדִבֶּרand spokeאֶל־בְּנֵיunto the sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelאֵת־אֲשֶׁרthat whichיְצֻוֶּה׃he was commanded

    But when Moses went in before the LORD to speak with him, he took the vail off, until he came out. And he came out, and spake unto the children of Israel that which he was commanded.

35. 35

    וְרָאוּand sawבְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלsons of Israelאֶת־פְּנֵיthe face ofמֹשֶׁהMosesכִּיthatקָרַןshoneעוֹרthe skin ofפְּנֵיthe face ofמֹשֶׁהMosesוְהֵשִׁיבand put againמֹשֶׁהMosesאֶת־הַמַּסְוֶהthe veilעַל־פָּנָיוupon his faceעַד־בֹּאוֹuntil he went inלְדַבֵּרto speakאִתוֹ׃with Him

    And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone: and Moses put the vail upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him.
