   וַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand spokeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־מֹשֶׁהel-Mo/SHEto Mosesלֵּאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

   And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

2. 2

   קַדֶּשׁ־לִיkad/DESH-lisanctify to meכׇל־בְּכוֹרkhol-be/KHORall the firstbornפֶּטֶרPE/terwhatever opensכׇּל־רֶחֶםkol-RE/chemevery wombבִּבְנֵיbiv/NEamong the children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelבָּאָדָםba/a/DAMamong menוּבַבְּהֵמָהu/vab/be/he/MAand among beastsלִיlimineהוּא׃huit is

   Sanctify unto me all the firstborn, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesאֶל־הָעָםel-ha/AMto the peopleזָכוֹרza/KHORrememberאֶת־הַיּוֹםet-hay/YOMthe dayהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERin whichיְצָאתֶםye/tsa/TEMyou went outמִמִּצְרַיִםmim/Mits/RA/yimout of Egyptמִבֵּיתmib/BETout of the house ofעֲבָדִיםa/va/DIMbondageכִּיkiforבְּחֹזֶקbe/CHO/zekby strength ofיָדyadhandהוֹצִיאho/TSIbrought outיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouמִזֶּהmiz/ZEfrom this placeוְלֹאve/LOand notיֵאָכֵלye/a/KHELshall be eatenחָמֵץ׃cha/METSleavened bread

   And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the LORD brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten.

   This day came ye out in the month Abib.

   וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beכִי־יְבִיאֲךָkhi-ye/vi/a/KHAwhen shall bring youיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־אֶרֶץel-E/retsto the land ofהַכְּנַעֲנִיhak/Ke/na/a/NIthe Canaaniteוְהַחִתִּיve/ha/Chit/TIand the Hittiteוְהָאֱמֹרִיve/Ha/e/mo/RIand the Amoriteוְהַחִוִּיve/ha/Chiv/VIand the HiviteוְהַיְבוּסִיVe/hay/vu/SIand the Jebusiteאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנִשְׁבַּעnish/BAHe sworeלַאֲבֹתֶיךָla/a/vo/TE/khato your fathersלָתֶתLA/tetto giveלָךְlakhto youאֶרֶץE/retsa landזָבַתza/VATflowing withחָלָבcha/LAVmilkוּדְבָשׁu/de/VASHand honeyוְעָבַדְתָּve/a/VAD/tathat you shall keepאֶת־הָעֲבֹדָהet-ha/a/vo/DAthe serviceהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisבַּחֹדֶשׁba/CHO/deshin the monthהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

   And it shall be when the LORD shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month.

   שִׁבְעַתshiv/ATsevenיָמִיםya/MIMdaysתֹּאכַלto/KHALyou shall eatמַצֹּתmats/TSOTunleavened breadוּבַיּוֹםu/vay/YOMand on the dayהַשְּׁבִיעִיhash/she/vi/Ithe seventhחַגchagshall be a feastלַיהֹוָה׃la-Adonaito the LORD

   Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to the LORD.

   מַצּוֹתmats/TSOTunleavened breadיֵאָכֵלye/a/KHELshall be eatenאֵת־שִׁבְעַתet-shiv/ATsevenהַיָּמִיםhay/ya/MIMthe daysוְלֹא־יֵרָאֶהve/LO-ye/ra/Eand there shall not be seenלְךָle/KHAwith youחָמֵץcha/METSleavened breadוְלֹא־יֵרָאֶהve/LO-ye/ra/Eand there shall not be seenלְךָle/KHAwith youשְׂאֹרse/ORleavenבְּכׇל־גְּבֻלֶךָ׃be/KHOL-ge/vu/LE/khain all your borders

   Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days; and there shall no leavened bread be seen with thee, neither shall there be leaven seen with thee in all thy quarters.

   וְהִגַּדְתָּve/hig/gad/TAand you shall tellלְבִנְךָle/vin/KHAyour sonבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMin the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofזֶהzethisעָשָׂהa/SAdidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלִיlito meבְּצֵאתִיbe/tse/TIwhen I came forthמִמִּצְרָיִם׃mim/Mits/RA/yimout of Egypt

   And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which the LORD did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt.

   וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beלְךָle/KHAto youלְאוֹתle/OTfor a signעַל־יָדְךָal-ya/de/KHAupon your handוּלְזִכָּרוֹןu/le/zik/ka/RONand for a memorialבֵּיןbenbetweenעֵינֶיךָe/NE/khayour eyesלְמַעַןle/MA/anin order thatתִּהְיֶהtih/YEshall beתּוֹרַתto/RATthe law ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבְּפִיךָbe/FI/khain your mouthכִּיkiforבְּיָדbe/YADwith a handחֲזָקָהcha/za/KAstrongהוֹצִאֲךָho/tsi/a/KHAhas brought you outיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמִמִּצְרָיִם׃mim/Mits/RA/yimout of Egypt

   And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the LORD's law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the LORD brought thee out of Egypt.

    וְשָׁמַרְתָּve/sha/mar/TAyou shall therefore keepאֶת־הַחֻקָּהet-ha/chuk/KAthe ordinanceהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisלְמוֹעֲדָהּle/mo/a/DAin its seasonמִיָּמִיםmiy/ya/MIMfrom yearיָמִימָה׃ya/MI/mato year

    Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in his season from year to year.

11. 11

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beכִּי־יְבִאֲךָki-ye/vi/a/KHAwhen shall bring youיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־אֶרֶץel-E/retsto the land ofהַכְּנַעֲנִיhak/Ke/na/a/NIthe Canaaniteכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasנִשְׁבַּעnish/BAHe sworeלְךָle/KHAto youוְלַאֲבֹתֶיךָve/la/a/vo/TE/khaand to your fathersוּנְתָנָהּu/ne/ta/NAand shall give itלָךְ׃lakhto you

    And it shall be when the LORD shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, as he sware unto thee and to thy fathers, and shall give it thee,

12. 12

    וְהַעֲבַרְתָּve/ha/a/var/TAthat you shall set apartכׇל־פֶּטֶר־רֶחֶםkhol-PE/ter-RE/chemall that opens the wombלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDוְכׇל־פֶּטֶרve/KHOL-PE/terand every firstlingשֶׁגֶרSHE/gerthat comes ofבְּהֵמָהbe/he/MAbeastאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beלְךָle/KHAyoursהַזְּכָרִיםhaz/ze/kha/RIMthe malesלַיהֹוָה׃la-Adonaishall be the LORD's

    That thou shalt set apart unto the LORD all that openeth the matrix, and every firstling that cometh of a beast which thou hast; the males shall be the LORD's.

13. 13

    וְכׇל־פֶּטֶרve/KHOL-PE/terand every firstling ofחֲמֹרcha/MORa donkeyתִּפְדֶּהtif/DEyou shall redeemבְשֶׂהve/SEwith a lambוְאִם־לֹאve/IM-loand if notתִפְדֶּהtif/DEyou will redeem itוַעֲרַפְתּוֹva/a/raf/TOthen you shall break its neckוְכֹלve/KHOLand allבְּכוֹרbe/KHORthe firstborn ofאָדָםa/DAMmanבְּבָנֶיךָbe/va/NE/khaamong your childrenתִּפְדֶּה׃tif/DEyou shall redeem

    And every firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb; and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break his neck: and all the firstborn of man among thy children shalt thou redeem.

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beכִּי־יִשְׁאָלְךָki-yish/a/le/KHAwhen asks youבִנְךָvin/KHAyour sonמָחָרma/CHARin time to comeלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingמַה־זֹּאתma-zotwhat is thisוְאָמַרְתָּve/a/mar/TAthat you shall sayאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himבְּחֹזֶקbe/CHO/zekby strength ofיָדyadhandהוֹצִיאָנוּho/tsi/A/nubrought us outיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמִמִּצְרַיִםmim/Mits/RA/yimout of Egyptמִבֵּיתmib/BETfrom the house ofעֲבָדִים׃a/va/DIMbondage

    And it shall be when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What is this? that thou shalt say unto him, By strength of hand the LORD brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage:

15. 15

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכִּי־הִקְשָׁהki-hik/SHAwhen stubbornly refusedפַרְעֹהFar/OPharaohלְשַׁלְּחֵנוּle/shal/le/che/NUto let us goוַיַּהֲרֹגvay/ya/ha/ROGthat slewיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDכׇּל־בְּכוֹרkol-be/KHORall the firstbornבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptמִבְּכֹרmib/be/KHORfrom the firstborn ofאָדָםa/DAMmanוְעַד־בְּכוֹרve/AD-be/KHOReven to the firstborn ofבְּהֵמָהbe/he/MAbeastעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeאֲנִיa/NIIזֹבֵחַzo/VE/achsacrificeלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDכׇּל־פֶּטֶרkol-PE/terall that opensרֶחֶםRE/chemthe wombהַזְּכָרִיםhaz/ze/kha/RIMbeing malesוְכׇל־בְּכוֹרve/KHOL-be/KHORbut all the firstborn ofבָּנַיba/NAYmy sonsאֶפְדֶּה׃ef/DEI redeem

    And it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that the LORD slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to the LORD all that openeth the matrix, being males; but all the firstborn of my children I redeem.

16. 16

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beלְאוֹתle/OTfor a signעַל־יָדְכָהal-ya/de/KHAupon your handוּלְטוֹטָפֹתu/le/to/ta/FOTand for frontletsבֵּיןbenbetweenעֵינֶיךָe/NE/khayour eyesכִּיkiforבְּחֹזֶקbe/CHO/zekby strength ofיָדyadhandהוֹצִיאָנוּho/tsi/A/nubrought us outיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמִמִּצְרָיִם׃mim/Mits/RA/yimout of Egypt

    And it shall be for a token upon thine hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes: for by strength of hand the LORD brought us forth out of Egypt.

17. 17

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבְּשַׁלַּחbe/shal/LACHwhen had let goפַּרְעֹהPar/OPharaohאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleוְלֹא־נָחָםve/LO-na/CHAMthat led them notאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhby way ofאֶרֶץE/retsthe land ofפְּלִשְׁתִּיםPe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesכִּיkialthoughקָרוֹבka/ROVnearהוּאhuthat wasכִּיkiforאָמַרa/MARsaidאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodפֶּן־יִנָּחֵםpen-yin/na/CHEMlest repentהָעָםha/AMthe peopleבִּרְאֹתָםbir/o/TAMwhen they seeמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAwarוְשָׁבוּve/SHA/vuand they returnמִצְרָיְמָה׃Mits/RAY/mato Egypt

    And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:

18. 18

    וַיַּסֵּבvay/yas/SEVbut led aboutאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhby the way ofהַמִּדְבָּרham/mid/BARthe wildernessיַם־סוּףyam-Sufof the Red Seaוַחֲמֻשִׁיםva/cha/mu/SHIMand harnessedעָלוּa/LUwent upבְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלve/NE-yis/ra/ELthe children of Israelמֵאֶרֶץme/E/retsout of the land ofמִצְרָיִם׃Mits/RA/yimEgypt

    But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.

19. 19

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesאֶת־עַצְמוֹתet-ats/MOTthe bones ofיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephעִמּוֹim/MOwith himכִּיkiforהַשְׁבֵּעַhash/BE/aswearהִשְׁבִּיעַhish/BI/ahe had made swearאֶת־בְּנֵיet-be/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingפָּקֹדpa/KODvisitיִפְקֹדyif/KODwill visitאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouוְהַעֲלִיתֶםve/ha/a/li/TEMand you shall carry upאֶת־עַצְמֹתַיet-ats/mo/TAYmy bonesמִזֶּהmiz/ZEfrom hereאִתְּכֶם׃it/te/KHEMwith you

    And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you.

20. 20

    וַיִּסְעוּvay/yis/Uand they journeyedמִסֻּכֹּתmis/Suk/KOTfrom Succothוַיַּחֲנוּvay/ya/cha/NUand encampedבְאֵתָםve/E/TAMin Ethamבִּקְצֵהbik/TSEin the edge ofהַמִּדְבָּר׃ham/mid/BARthe wilderness

    And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness.

21. 21

    וַיהֹוָהve-Adonaiand the LORDהֹלֵךְho/LEKHwentלִפְנֵיהֶםlif/ne/HEMbefore themיוֹמָםyo/MAMby dayבְּעַמּוּדbe/am/MUDin a pillar ofעָנָןa/NANcloudלַנְחֹתָםlan/cho/TAMto lead themהַדֶּרֶךְhad/DE/rekhthe wayוְלַיְלָהve/LAY/laand by nightבְּעַמּוּדbe/am/MUDin a pillar ofאֵשׁeshfireלְהָאִירle/ha/IRto give lightלָהֶםla/HEMto themלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetto goיוֹמָםyo/MAMby dayוָלָיְלָה׃va/LAY/laand night

    And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:

22. 22

    לֹא־יָמִישׁlo-ya/MISHdeparted notעַמּוּדam/MUDthe pillar ofהֶעָנָןhe/a/NANthe cloudיוֹמָםyo/MAMby dayוְעַמּוּדve/am/MUDand the pillar ofהָאֵשׁha/ESHfireלָיְלָהLAY/laby nightלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהָעָם׃ha/AMthe people

    He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.
