Esther 6 אֶסְתֵּר פרק ו׳

   On that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.

   And it was found written, that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king's chamberlains, the keepers of the door, who sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingמַה־נַּעֲשָׂהma-na/a/SAwhat has been doneיְקָרye/KARhonorוּגְדוּלָּהu/ge/dul/LAand dignityלְמׇרְדֳּכַיle/Mor/do/KHAYto Mordecaiעַל־זֶהal-zefor thisוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidנַעֲרֵיna/a/REthe young men ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingמְשָׁרְתָיוme/sha/re/TAYVthat ministered to himלֹא־נַעֲשָׂהlo-na/a/SAthere is nothing doneעִמּוֹim/MOfor himדָּבָר׃da/VARanything

   And the king said, What honour and dignity hath been done to Mordecai for this? Then said the king's servants that ministered unto him, There is nothing done for him.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingמִיmiwhoבֶחָצֵרve/cha/TSERis in the courtוְהָמָןve/Ha/MANand Hamanבָּאbahad comeלַחֲצַרla/cha/TSARinto the court ofבֵּית־הַמֶּלֶךְbet-ham/ME/lekhthe house of the kingהַחִיצוֹנָהha/chi/tso/NAthe outerלֵאמֹרle/MORto speakלַמֶּלֶךְlam/ME/lekhto the kingלִתְלוֹתlit/LOTto hangאֶת־מׇרְדֳּכַיet-Mor/do/KHAYMordecaiעַל־הָעֵץal-ha/ETSon the gallowsאֲשֶׁר־הֵכִיןa/SHER-he/KHINthat he had preparedלוֹ׃lofor him

   And the king said, Who is in the court? Now Haman was come into the outward court of the king's house, to speak unto the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.

   וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidנַעֲרֵיna/a/REthe young men ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהָמָןHa/MANHamanעֹמֵדo/MEDstandingבֶּחָצֵרbe/cha/TSERin the courtוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingיָבוֹא׃ya/VOlet him come in

   And the king's servants said unto him, Behold, Haman standeth in the court. And the king said, Let him come in.

   וַיָּבוֹאvay/ya/VOand he cameהָמָןHa/MANHamanוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלוֹloto himהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingמַה־לַּעֲשׂוֹתma-la/a/SOTwhat shall be doneבָּאִישׁba/ISHto the manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingחָפֵץcha/FETSdelightsבִּיקָרוֹbi/ka/ROto honorוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהָמָןHa/MANHamanבְּלִבּוֹbe/lib/BOin his heartלְמִיle/MIto whomיַחְפֹּץyach/POTSwould delightהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doיְקָרye/KARhonorיוֹתֵרyo/TERmoreמִמֶּנִּי׃mim/MEN/nithan me

   So Haman came in. And the king said unto him, What shall be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour? Now Haman thought in his heart, To whom would the king delight to do honour more than to myself?

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהָמָןHa/MANHamanאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְel-ham/ME/lekhunto the kingאִישׁisha manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingחָפֵץcha/FETSdelightsבִּיקָרוֹ׃bi/ka/ROto honor

   And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delighteth to honour,

8. 8

   יָבִיאוּya/VI/ulet them bringלְבוּשׁle/VUSHapparelמַלְכוּתmal/KHUTroyalאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלָבַשׁ־בּוֹla/VASH-bohas wornהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוְסוּסve/SUSand the horseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichרָכַבra/KHAVhas riddenעָלָיוa/LAYVuponהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand on whoseנִתַּןnit/TANis setכֶּתֶרKE/terthe crownמַלְכוּתmal/KHUTroyalבְּרֹאשׁוֹ׃be/ro/SHOon his head

   Let the royal apparel be brought which the king useth to wear, and the horse that the king rideth upon, and the crown royal which is set upon his head:

9. 9

   וְנָתוֹןve/na/TONand let be deliveredהַלְּבוּשׁhal/le/VUSHthe apparelוְהַסּוּסve/has/SUSand the horseעַל־יַד־אִישׁal-yad-ishto the hand of oneמִשָּׂרֵיmis/sa/REof the princes ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingהַפַּרְתְּמִיםhap/par/te/MIMthe most nobleוְהִלְבִּישׁוּve/hil/BI/shuthat they may arrayאֶת־הָאִישׁet-ha/ISHthe manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingחָפֵץcha/FETSdelightsבִּיקָרוֹbi/ka/ROto honorוְהִרְכִּיבֻהוּve/hir/ki/VU/huand bring him on horsebackעַל־הַסּוּסal-has/SUSon the horseבִּרְחוֹבbir/CHOVthrough the square ofהָעִירha/IRthe cityוְקָרְאוּve/ka/re/Uand proclaimלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore himכָּכָהKA/khathusיֵעָשֶׂהye/a/SEshall it be doneלָאִישׁla/ISHto the manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingחָפֵץcha/FETSdelightsבִּיקָרוֹ׃bi/ka/ROto honor

   And let this apparel and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king's most noble princes, that they may array the man withal whom the king delighteth to honour, and bring him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honour.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingלְהָמָןle/Ha/MANto Hamanמַהֵרma/HERmake hasteקַחkachtakeאֶת־הַלְּבוּשׁet-hal/le/VUSHthe apparelוְאֶת־הַסּוּסve/ET-has/SUSand the horseכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasדִּבַּרְתָּdib/BAR/tayou have spokenוַעֲשֵׂה־כֵןva/a/SE-khenand do soלְמׇרְדֳּכַיle/Mor/do/KHAYto Mordecaiהַיְּהוּדִיhay/Ye/hu/DIthe Jewהַיּוֹשֵׁבhay/yo/SHEVthat sitsבְּשַׁעַרbe/SHA/arin the gate ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאַל־תַּפֵּלal-tap/PELlet not failדָּבָרda/VARanythingמִכֹּלmik/KOLof allאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatדִּבַּרְתָּ׃dib/BAR/tayou have spoken

    Then the king said to Haman, Make haste, and take the apparel and the horse, as thou hast said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, that sitteth at the king's gate: let nothing fail of all that thou hast spoken.

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookהָמָןHa/MANHamanאֶת־הַלְּבוּשׁet-hal/le/VUSHthe apparelוְאֶת־הַסּוּסve/ET-has/SUSand the horseוַיַּלְבֵּשׁvay/yal/BESHand arrayedאֶת־מׇרְדֳּכָיet-Mor/do/KHAYMordecaiוַיַּרְכִּיבֵהוּvay/yar/ki/VE/huand brought him on horsebackבִּרְחוֹבbir/CHOVthrough the square ofהָעִירha/IRthe cityוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand proclaimedלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore himכָּכָהKA/khathusיֵעָשֶׂהye/a/SEshall it be doneלָאִישׁla/ISHto the manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingחָפֵץcha/FETSdelightsבִּיקָרוֹ׃bi/ka/ROto honor

    Then took Haman the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaimed before him, Thus shall it be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour.

12. 12

    וַיָּשׇׁבvay/YA/shovand came againמׇרְדֳּכַיMor/do/KHAYMordecaiאֶל־שַׁעַרel-SHA/arto the gate ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוְהָמָןve/Ha/MANand Hamanנִדְחַףnid/CHAFhastenedאֶל־בֵּיתוֹel-be/TOto his houseאָבֵלa/VELmourningוַחֲפוּיva/cha/FUYand having coveredרֹאשׁ׃roshhis head

    And Mordecai came again to the king's gate. But Haman hasted to his house mourning, and having his head covered.

13. 13

    וַיְסַפֵּרvay/sap/PERand toldהָמָןHa/MANHamanלְזֶרֶשׁle/ZE/reshto Zereshאִשְׁתּוֹish/TOhis wifeוּלְכׇל־אֹהֲבָיוu/le/KHOL-o/ha/VAYVand to all his friendsאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרet-kol-a/SHERall thatקָרָהוּka/RA/huhad befallen himוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidלוֹloagainst himחֲכָמָיוcha/kha/MAYVhis wise menוְזֶרֶשׁve/ZE/reshand Zereshאִשְׁתּוֹish/TOhis wifeאִםimifמִזֶּרַעmiz/ZE/raof the seed ofהַיְּהוּדִיםhay/Ye/hu/DIMthe JewsמׇרְדֳּכַיMor/do/KHAYMordecaiאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהַחִלּוֹתָha/chil/LO/tayou have begunלִנְפֹּלlin/POLto fallלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore himלֹא־תוּכַלlo-tu/KHALyou shall not prevailלוֹloagainst himכִּי־נָפוֹלki-na/FOLbut fallתִּפּוֹלtip/POLyou shall fallלְפָנָיו׃le/fa/NAYVbefore him

    And Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends every thing that had befallen him. Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife unto him, If Mordecai be of the seed of the Jews, before whom thou hast begun to fall, thou shalt not prevail against him, but shalt surely fall before him.

    עוֹדָםo/DAMwhile they were yetמְדַבְּרִיםme/dab/be/RIMtalkingעִמּוֹim/MOwith himוְסָרִיסֵיve/sa/ri/SEthe officials ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingהִגִּיעוּhig/GI/ucameוַיַּבְהִלוּvay/yav/HI/luand hastenedלְהָבִיאle/ha/VIto bringאֶת־הָמָןet-Ha/MANHamanאֶל־הַמִּשְׁתֶּהel-ham/mish/TEto the feastאֲשֶׁר־עָשְׂתָהa/SHER-a/se/TAthat had preparedאֶסְתֵּר׃Es/TEREsther

    And while they were yet talking with him, came the king's chamberlains, and hasted to bring Haman unto the banquet that Esther had prepared.
