Esther 7 אֶסְתֵּר פרק ז׳

   וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוְהָמָןve/Ha/MANand Hamanלִשְׁתּוֹתlish/TOTto drinkעִם־אֶסְתֵּרim-Es/TERwith Estherהַמַּלְכָּה׃ham/mal/KAthe queen

   So the king and Haman came to banquet with Esther the queen.

2. 2

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingלְאֶסְתֵּרle/Es/TERto Estherגַּםgamagainבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַשֵּׁנִיhash/she/NIsecondבְּמִשְׁתֵּהbe/mish/TEat the feast ofהַיַּיִןhay/YA/yinthe wineמַה־שְּׁאֵלָתֵךְma-she/e/la/TEKHwhat is your petitionאֶסְתֵּרEs/TEREstherהַמַּלְכָּהham/mal/KAthe queenוְתִנָּתֵןve/tin/na/TENand it shall be grantedלָךְlakhto youוּמַה־בַּקָּשָׁתֵךְu/MA-bak/ka/sha/TEKHand what is your requestעַד־חֲצִיad-cha/TSIeven to the half ofהַמַּלְכוּתham/mal/KHUTthe kingdomוְתֵעָשׂ׃ve/te/ASand it shall be performed

   And the king said again unto Esther on the second day at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition, queen Esther? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? and it shall be performed, even to the half of the kingdom.

   וַתַּעַןvat/TA/anand she answeredאֶסְתֵּרEs/TEREstherהַמַּלְכָּהham/mal/KAthe queenוַתֹּאמַרvat/to/MARand she saidאִם־מָצָאתִיim-ma/TSA/tiif I have foundחֵןchenfavorבְּעֵינֶיךָbe/e/NE/khain your eyesהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhO kingוְאִם־עַל־הַמֶּלֶךְve/IM-al-ham/ME/lekhand if to the kingטוֹבtovit seem goodתִּנָּתֶן־לִיtin/na/TEN-lilet be given meנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHImy lifeבִּשְׁאֵלָתִיbish/e/la/TIat my petitionוְעַמִּיve/am/MIand my peopleבְּבַקָּשָׁתִי׃be/vak/ka/sha/TIat my request

   Then Esther the queen answered and said, If I have found favour in thy sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request:

   כִּיkiforנִמְכַּרְנוּnim/KAR/nuwe are soldאֲנִיa/NIIוְעַמִּיve/am/MIand my peopleלְהַשְׁמִידle/hash/MIDto destroyלַהֲרוֹגla/ha/ROGto slayוּלְאַבֵּדu/le/ab/BEDand to cause to perishוְאִלּוּve/il/LUbut ifלַעֲבָדִיםla/a/va/DIMfor bondmenוְלִשְׁפָחוֹתve/lish/fa/CHOTand for bondwomenנִמְכַּרְנוּnim/KAR/nuwe had been soldהֶחֱרַשְׁתִּיhe/che/RASH/tiI had held my tongueכִּיkiforאֵיןennotהַצָּרhats/TSARthe adversaryשֹׁוֶהsho/VEworthבְּנֵזֶקbe/NE/zekthe damage ofהַמֶּלֶךְ׃ham/ME/lekhthe king

   For we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. But if we had been sold for bondmen and bondwomen, I had held my tongue, although the enemy could not countervail the king's damage.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאֲחַשְׁוֵרוֹשׁA/chash/ve/ROSHAhasuerusוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלְאֶסְתֵּרle/Es/TERto Estherהַמַּלְכָּהham/mal/KAthe queenמִיmiwhoהוּאhuis heזֶהzethisוְאֵי־זֶהve/E-zeand where isהוּאhuis heאֲשֶׁר־מְלָאוֹa/SHER-me/la/Othat has filledלִבּוֹlib/BOhis heartלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doכֵּן׃kenso

   Then the king Ahasuerus answered and said unto Esther the queen, Who is he, and where is he, that durst presume in his heart to do so?

   וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidאֶסְתֵּרEs/TEREstherאִישׁisha manצַרtsaradversaryוְאוֹיֵבve/o/YEVand enemyהָמָןHa/MANHamanהָרָעha/RAwickedהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוְהָמָןve/Ha/MANand Hamanנִבְעַתniv/ATwas afraidמִלִּפְנֵיmil/lif/NEbeforeהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוְהַמַּלְכָּה׃ve/ham/mal/KAand the queen

   And Esther said, The adversary and enemy is this wicked Haman. Then Haman was afraid before the king and the queen.

   וְהַמֶּלֶךְve/ham/ME/lekhand the kingקָםkamaroseבַּחֲמָתוֹba/cha/ma/TOin his wrathמִמִּשְׁתֵּהmim/mish/TEfrom the banquet ofהַיַּיִןhay/YA/yinthe wineאֶל־גִּנַּתel-gin/NATto the garden ofהַבִּיתָןhab/bi/TANthe palaceוְהָמָןve/Ha/MANand Hamanעָמַדa/MADstood upלְבַקֵּשׁle/vak/KESHto make requestעַל־נַפְשׁוֹal-naf/SHOfor his lifeמֵאֶסְתֵּרme/Es/TERof Estherהַמַּלְכָּהham/mal/KAthe queenכִּיkiforרָאָהra/Ahe sawכִּי־כָלְתָהki-kha/le/TAthat was determinedאֵלָיוe/LAYVagainst himהָרָעָהha/ra/Athe evilמֵאֵתme/ETbyהַמֶּלֶךְ׃ham/ME/lekhthe king

   And the king arising from the banquet of wine in his wrath went into the palace garden: and Haman stood up to make request for his life to Esther the queen; for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king.

   וְהַמֶּלֶךְve/ham/ME/lekhand the kingשָׁבshavreturnedמִגִּנַּתmig/gin/NATfrom the garden ofהַבִּיתָןhab/bi/TANthe palaceאֶל־בֵּיתel-betinto the place ofמִשְׁתֵּהmish/TEthe banquet ofהַיַּיִןhay/YA/yinthe wineוְהָמָןve/Ha/MANand Hamanנֹפֵלno/FELwas fallenעַל־הַמִּטָּהal-ham/mit/TAupon the couchאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאֶסְתֵּרEs/TEREstherעָלֶיהָa/LE/haupon itוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingהֲגַםha/GAMwill he evenלִכְבּוֹשׁlikh/BOSHforceאֶת־הַמַּלְכָּהet-ham/mal/KAthe queenעִמִּיim/MIwith meבַּבָּיִתbab/BA/yitin the houseהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe wordיָצָאya/TSAwent outמִפִּיmip/PIfrom the mouth ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוּפְנֵיu/fe/NEand the face ofהָמָןHa/MANHamanחָפוּ׃cha/FUthey covered

   Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine; and Haman was fallen upon the bed whereon Esther was. Then said the king, Will he force the queen also before me in the house? As the word went out of the king's mouth, they covered Haman's face.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidחַרְבוֹנָהChar/vo/NAHarbonaאֶחָדe/CHADoneמִן־הַסָּרִיסִיםmin-has/sa/ri/SIMof the court officialsלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingגַּםgamalsoהִנֵּה־הָעֵץhin/NE-ha/ETSbehold the gallowsאֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂהa/SHER-a/SAwhich had madeהָמָןHa/MANHamanלְמׇרְדֳּכַיle/Mor/do/KHAYfor Mordecaiאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoדִּבֶּר־טוֹבdib/BER-tovhad spoken goodעַל־הַמֶּלֶךְal-ham/ME/lekhfor the kingעֹמֵדo/MEDstandingבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofהָמָןHa/MANHamanגָּבֹהַּga/VO/ahhighחֲמִשִּׁיםcha/mish/SHIMfiftyאַמָּהam/MAcubitsוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingתְּלֻהוּte/LU/huhang himעָלָיו׃a/LAYVon it

   And Harbonah, one of the chamberlains, said before the king, Behold also, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman had made for Mordecai, who had spoken good for the king, standeth in the house of Haman. Then the king said, Hang him thereon.

    וַיִּתְלוּvay/yit/LUand they hangedאֶת־הָמָןet-Ha/MANHamanעַל־הָעֵץal-ha/ETSon the gallowsאֲשֶׁר־הֵכִיןa/SHER-he/KHINthat he had preparedלְמׇרְדֳּכָיle/Mor/do/KHAYfor Mordecaiוַחֲמַתva/cha/MATthen the wrath ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingשָׁכָכָה׃sha/KHA/khawas pacified

    So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king's wrath pacified.
