1. 1

   וַיִּקְרָאand calledמֹשֶׁהMosesאֶל־כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵלto all Israelוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֲלֵהֶםunto themשְׁמַעhearkenיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelאֶת־הַחֻקִּיםthe statutesוְאֶת־הַמִּשְׁפָּטִיםand the judgmentsאֲשֶׁרwhichאָנֹכִיIדֹּבֵרspeakבְּאׇזְנֵיכֶםin your earsהַיּוֹםthe dayוּלְמַדְתֶּםand you will learnאֹתָםthemוּשְׁמַרְתֶּםand you shall keepלַעֲשֹׂתָם׃to observe them

   And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them.

   יְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֵינוּour GodכָּרַתHe madeעִמָּנוּwith usבְּרִיתcovenant ofבְּחֹרֵב׃at Horeb

   The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.

3. 3

   לֹאnotאֶת־אֲבֹתֵינוּour fathersכָּרַתmadeיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶת־הַבְּרִיתthe covenantהַזֹּאתthisכִּיbutאִתָּנוּwith usאֲנַחְנוּweאֵלֶּהtheseפֹהhereהַיּוֹםthe dayכֻּלָּנוּus allחַיִּים׃living

   The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.

4. 4

   פָּנִיםfaceבְּפָנִיםto faceדִּבֶּרspokeיְהֹוָהthe LORDעִמָּכֶםwith youבָּהָרin the mountainמִתּוֹךְfrom the midst ofהָאֵשׁ׃the fire

   The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire,

   אָנֹכִיIעֹמֵדstandingבֵּין־יְהֹוָהbetween the LORDוּבֵינֵיכֶםand between youבָּעֵתat the timeהַהִואthatלְהַגִּידto declareלָכֶםto youאֶת־דְּבַרword ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDכִּיforיְרֵאתֶםyou were afraidמִפְּנֵיbecause ofהָאֵשׁthe fireוְלֹא־עֲלִיתֶםand not you went upבָּהָרin the mountainלֵאמֹר׃saying

   (I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to shew you the word of the LORD: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying,

   אָנֹכִיIיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָyour Godאֲשֶׁרwhichהוֹצֵאתִיךָhave brought you outמֵאֶרֶץfrom the land ofמִצְרַיִםEgyptמִבֵּיתfrom the house ofעֲבָדִ͏ים׃servants

   I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

7. 7

   לֹא־יִהְיֶ͏ה־לְךָyou shall have noאֱלֹהִים־אֲחֵרִיםother godsעַל־פָּנָ͏ַי׃before Me

   Thou shalt have none other gods before me.

8. 8

   לֹא־תַעֲשֶׂה־לְךָyou shall not make to youפֶסֶלany graven imageכׇּל־תְּמוּנָהany imageאֲשֶׁרwhichבַּשָּׁמַיִםin the heavensמִמַּעַלaboveוַאֲשֶׁרor thatבָּאָרֶץin the landמִתָּ͏ַחַתbeneathוַאֲשֶׁרor thatבַּמַּיִםin the waterמִתַּחַתunderלָאָרֶץ׃the earth

   Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:

9. 9

   לֹא־תִשְׁתַּחֲוֶהyou shall not bow downלָהֶםto themוְלֹאand notתׇעׇבְדֵםserve themכִּיforאָנֹכִיIיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָyour Godאֵלa Godקַנָּאjealousפֹּקֵדvisitingעֲוֺןthe iniquity ofאָבוֹתfathersעַל־בָּנִיםupon sonsוְעַל־שִׁלֵּשִׁיםand upon the thirdוְעַל־רִבֵּעִיםand fourth generationלְשֹׂנְאָי׃of them that hate Me

   Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me,

10. 10

    וְעֹשֶׂהand showingחֶסֶדmercyלַאֲלָפִיםunto thousandsלְאֹהֲבַיof them that love Meוּלְשֹׁמְרֵיand keep(מצותו)[מִצְוֺתָי]׃My commandments

    And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

11. 11

    לֹאnotתִשָּׂאyou shall takeאֶת־שֵׁם־יְהֹוָהname of the LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָyour Godלַשָּׁוְאin vainכִּיforלֹאnotיְנַקֶּהwill hold him guiltlessיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־יִשָּׂאhim that takesאֶת־שְׁמוֹHis nameלַשָּׁוְא׃in vain

    Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

12. 12

    שָׁמוֹרkeepאֶת־יוֹםthe day ofהַשַּׁבָּתthe sabbathלְקַדְּשׁוֹto keep it holyכַּאֲשֶׁרasצִוְּךָhas commanded youיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָ׃your God

    Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee.

13. 13

    שֵׁשֶׁתsixיָמִיםdaysתַּעֲבֹדshall you serveוְעָשִׂיתָand doכׇּֿל־מְלַאכְתֶּךָ׃all your work

    Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work:

14. 14

    וְיוֹםbut the dayהַשְּׁבִיעִיthe seventhשַׁבָּתSabbathלַיהֹוָהto the LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָyour Godלֹאnotתַעֲשֶׂהyou shall doכׇל־מְלָאכָהany workאַתָּהyouוּבִנְךָ־וּבִתֶּךָnor your son nor your daughterוְעַבְדְּךָ־וַאֲמָתֶךָnor your manservant nor your maidservantוְשׁוֹרְךָnor your oxוַחֲמֹרְךָnor your assוְכׇל־בְּהֶמְתֶּךָnor all your cattleוְגֵרְךָnor your strangerאֲשֶׁרwhichבִּשְׁעָרֶיךָwithin your gatesלְמַעַןin order thatיָנוּחַmay restעַבְדְּךָyour manservantוַאֲמָתְךָand your maidservantכָּמוֹךָ׃like you

    But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.

15. 15

    וְזָכַרְתָּand you shall rememberכִּי־עֶבֶדbecause servant ofהָיִיתָyou wereבְּאֶרֶץin the land ofמִצְרַיִםEgyptוַיֹּצִאֲךָand brought out youיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָyour Godמִשָּׁםfrom thereבְּיָדby a handחֲזָקָהmightyוּבִזְרֹעַand by an armנְטוּיָהis stretched outעַל־כֵּןthereforeצִוְּךָhas commanded youיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָyour Godלַעֲשׂוֹתto doאֶת־יוֹםthe day ofהַשַּׁבָּת׃the sabbath

    And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.

16. 16

    כַּבֵּדhonorאֶת־אָבִיךָyour fatherוְאֶת־אִמֶּךָand your motherכַּאֲשֶׁרasצִוְּךָhas commanded youיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָyour Godלְמַעַןin order thatיַאֲרִיכֻןmay be longיָמֶיךָyour daysוּלְמַעַןand thatיִיטַבit shall be wellלָךְto youעַלuponהָאֲדָמָהthe landאֲשֶׁר־יְהֹוָהwhich the LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָyour Godנֹתֵןgivingלָךְ׃to you

    Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

17. 17

    לֹאnotתִּֿרְצָ͏ח׃you shall killוְלֹאand notתִּֿנְאָ͏ף׃you shall commit adulteryוְלֹאand notתִּֿגְנֹב׃you shall stealוְלֹא־תַעֲנֶהand you shall not bearבְרֵעֲךָagainst your neighborעֵדwitnessשָׁוְא׃false

    Thou shalt not kill. Neither shalt thou commit adultery. Neither shalt thou steal. Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbour.

18. 18

    וְלֹאand notתַחְמֹדyou shall covetאֵשֶׁתthe wife ofרֵעֶךָyour neighborוְלֹאand notתִתְאַוֶּהyou shall desireבֵּיתthe house ofרֵעֶךָyour neighborשָׂדֵהוּhis fieldוְעַבְדּוֹnor his manservantוַאֲמָתוֹnor his maidservantשׁוֹרוֹnor his oxוַחֲמֹרוֹnor his assוְכֹלnor any thingאֲשֶׁרwhichלְרֵעֶךָ׃is your neighbor's

    Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour's wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour's house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is thy neighbour's.

19. 19

    אֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהtheseדִּבֶּרspokeיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶל־כׇּל־קְהַלְכֶםto all your assemblyבָּהָרin the mountainמִתּוֹךְfrom the midst ofהָאֵשׁthe fireהֶעָנָןthe cloudוְהָעֲרָפֶלand the thick darknessקוֹלa voiceגָּדוֹלgreatוְלֹאand notיָסָףhe addedוַיִּכְתְּבֵםhe wrote them downעַל־שְׁנֵיupon twoלֻחֹתtablets ofאֲבָנִיםstonesוַיִּתְּנֵםand he gave themאֵלָי׃unto me

    These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.

20. 20

    וַיְהִיand it came to passכְּשׇׁמְעֲכֶםwhen you heardאֶת־הַקּוֹלthe voiceמִתּוֹךְfrom the midst ofהַחֹשֶׁךְthe darknessוְהָהָרand the mountainבֹּעֵרwas burningבָּאֵשׁby fireוַתִּקְרְבוּןand you drew nearאֵלַיto meכׇּל־רָאשֵׁיall the heads ofשִׁבְטֵיכֶםyour tribesוְזִקְנֵיכֶם׃and your elders

    And it came to pass, when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn with fire,) that ye came near unto me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders;

21. 21

    וַתֹּאמְרוּand you saidהֵןbeholdהֶרְאָנוּhas shown usיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֵינוּour Godאֶת־כְּבֹדוֹHis gloryוְאֶת־גׇּדְלוֹand His greatnessוְאֶת־קֹלוֹand His voiceשָׁמַעְנוּwe heardמִתּוֹךְfrom the midst ofהָאֵשׁthe fireהַיּוֹםthe dayהַזֶּהthisרָאִינוּwe sawכִּי־יְדַבֵּרthat speaksאֱלֹהִיםGodאֶת־הָאָדָםwith manוָחָי׃and live

    And ye said, Behold, the LORD our God hath shewed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that God doth talk with man, and he liveth.

22. 22

    וְעַתָּהand nowלָמָּהwhyנָמוּתwe dieכִּיforתֹאכְלֵנוּit will consume usהָאֵשׁthe fireהַגְּדֹלָהthe greatהַזֹּאתthisאִם־יֹסְפִיםif continuingאֲנַחְנוּweלִשְׁמֹעַto hearאֶת־קוֹלthe voice ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֵינוּour Godעוֹדany moreוָמָתְנוּ׃and we will die

    Now therefore why should we die? for this great fire will consume us: if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, then we shall die.

23. 23

    כִּיforמִיwhoכׇל־בָּשָׂרall the fleshאֲשֶׁרwhichשָׁמַעheardקוֹלthe voice ofאֱלֹהִיםGodחַיִּיםlivingמְדַבֵּרspeaksמִתּוֹךְ־הָאֵשׁfrom the midst of the fireכָּמֹנוּlike usוַיֶּחִי׃and lived

    For who is there of all flesh, that hath heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?

24. 24

    קְרַבdraw nearאַתָּהyouוּשְׁמָעand hearאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרall thatיֹאמַרsaysיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֵינוּour Godוְאַתְּand youתְּדַבֵּרyou shall speakאֵלֵינוּunto usאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרall thatיְדַבֵּרspeaksיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֵינוּour Godאֵלֶיךָto youוְשָׁמַעְנוּand we will hearוְעָשִׂינוּ׃and we will do

    Go thou near, and hear all that the LORD our God shall say: and speak thou unto us all that the LORD our God shall speak unto thee; and we will hear it, and do it.

25. 25

    וַיִּשְׁמַעand heardיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶת־קוֹלthe voice ofדִּבְרֵיכֶםyour wordsבְּדַבֶּרְכֶםwhen you spokeאֵלָיunto meוַיֹּאמֶרand saidיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֵלַיto meשָׁמַעְתִּיI have heardאֶת־קוֹלthe voice ofדִּבְרֵיthe words ofהָעָםthe peopleהַזֶּהthisאֲשֶׁרwhichדִּבְּרוּhave spokenאֵלֶיךָto youהֵיטִיבוּthey did wellכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרall thatדִּבֵּרוּ׃spoke

    And the LORD heard the voice of your words, when ye spake unto me; and the LORD said unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken unto thee: they have well said all that they have spoken.

26. 26

    מִי־יִתֵּןwould thatוְהָיָהand beלְבָבָםtheir heartsזֶהthisלָהֶםto themלְיִרְאָהto fearאֹתִיMeוְלִשְׁמֹרand keepאֶת־כׇּל־מִצְוֺתַיall My commandmentsכׇּל־הַיָּמִיםall the daysלְמַעַןin order thatיִיטַבit shall be wellלָהֶםto themוְלִבְנֵיהֶםand for their sonsלְעֹלָם׃for ever

    O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!

27. 27

    לֵךְgoאֱמֹרsayלָהֶםto themשׁוּבוּreturnלָכֶםto youלְאׇהֳלֵיכֶם׃to your tents

    Go say to them, Get you into your tents again.

28. 28

    וְאַתָּהand youפֹּהhereעֲמֹדshall standעִמָּדִיwith meוַאֲדַבְּרָהand I will speakאֵלֶיךָto youאֵת־כׇּל־הַמִּצְוָהall the commandmentוְהַחֻקִּיםand the statutesוְהַמִּשְׁפָּטִיםand the judgmentsאֲשֶׁרwhichתְּלַמְּדֵםyou shall teach themוְעָשׂוּand they shall doבָאָרֶץin the landאֲשֶׁרwhichאָנֹכִיIנֹתֵןgivingלָהֶםto themלְרִשְׁתָּהּ׃to possess it

    But as for thee, stand thou here by me, and I will speak unto thee all the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which thou shalt teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it.

29. 29

    וּשְׁמַרְתֶּםand you shall keepלַעֲשׂוֹתto doכַּאֲשֶׁרasצִוָּהcommandedיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםyour Godאֶתְכֶםyouלֹאnotתָסֻרוּyou shall turn asideיָמִיןright handוּשְׂמֹאל׃and left

    Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.

30. 30

    בְּכׇל־הַדֶּרֶךְin all the wayאֲשֶׁרwhichצִוָּהcommandedיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםyour Godאֶתְכֶםyouתֵּלֵכוּyou will walkלְמַעַןin order thatתִּחְיוּןyou may liveוְטוֹבand it may be wellלָכֶםto youוְהַאֲרַכְתֶּםand you will prolongיָמִיםdaysבָּאָרֶץin the landאֲשֶׁרwhichתִּירָשׁוּן׃you will take possession of

    Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess.
