1. 1

   וְהָיָהand beאִם־שָׁמוֹעַif diligentlyתִּשְׁמַעyou hearבְּקוֹלthe voice ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָyour Godלִשְׁמֹרto keepלַעֲשׂוֹתto doאֶת־כׇּל־מִצְוֺתָיוall His commandmentsאֲשֶׁרwhichאָנֹכִיIמְצַוְּךָam commanding youהַיּוֹםthe dayוּנְתָנְךָand will set youיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָyour Godעֶלְיוֹןhighעַלuponכׇּל־גּוֹיֵיall nations ofהָאָרֶץ׃the earth

   And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

   וּבָאוּand shall comeעָלֶיךָupon youכׇּל־הַבְּרָכוֹתall the blessingsהָאֵלֶּהtheseוְהִשִּׂיגֻךָand they will overtake youכִּיifתִשְׁמַעyou would hearken toבְּקוֹלthe voice ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָ׃your God

   And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.

   בָּרוּךְblessedאַתָּהyouבָּעִירin the cityוּבָרוּךְand blessedאַתָּהyouבַּשָּׂדֶה׃in the field

   Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.

4. 4

   בָּרוּךְblessedפְּרִי־בִטְנְךָthe fruit of your wombוּפְרִיand the fruit ofאַדְמָתְךָyour landוּפְרִיand the fruit ofבְהֶמְתֶּךָyour livestockשְׁגַרthe young ofאֲלָפֶיךָyour cattleוְעַשְׁתְּרוֹתand the young ones ofצֹאנֶךָ׃your flock

   Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.

   בָּרוּךְblessedטַנְאֲךָyour basketוּמִשְׁאַרְתֶּךָ׃and your kneading trough

   Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.

6. 6

   בָּרוּךְblessedאַתָּהyouבְּבֹאֶךָwhen you comeוּבָרוּךְand blessedאַתָּהyouבְּצֵאתֶךָ׃when you go out

   Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.

7. 7

   יִתֵּןshall giveיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶת־אֹיְבֶיךָyour enemiesהַקָּמִיםthe ones rising upעָלֶיךָupon youנִגָּפִיםdefeatedלְפָנֶיךָbefore youבְּדֶרֶךְby the way ofאֶחָדoneיֵצְאוּgo forthאֵלֶיךָto youוּבְשִׁבְעָהand in sevenדְרָכִיםwaysיָנוּסוּthey shall fleeלְפָנֶיךָ׃before you

   The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.

8. 8

   יְצַוwill commandיְהֹוָהthe LORDאִתְּךָwith youאֶת־הַבְּרָכָהthe blessingבַּאֲסָמֶיךָin your barnsוּבְכֹלand in allמִשְׁלַחundertaking ofיָדֶךָyour handוּבֵרַכְךָand he will bless youבָּאָרֶץin the landאֲשֶׁר־יְהֹוָהwhich the LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָyour Godנֹתֵןgivingלָךְ׃to you

   The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

9. 9

   יְקִימְךָwill establish youיְהֹוָהthe LORDלוֹto himלְעַםa peopleקָדוֹשׁholyכַּאֲשֶׁרasנִשְׁבַּע־לָךְswore for youכִּיifתִשְׁמֹרyou will keptאֶת־מִצְוֺתthe commandments ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָyour Godוְהָלַכְתָּand you will walkבִּדְרָכָיו׃in His ways

   The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways.

10. 10

    וְרָאוּand beholdכׇּל־עַמֵּיall the peoples ofהָאָרֶץthe earthכִּיthatשֵׁםthe name ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDנִקְרָאcalled wasעָלֶיךָupon youוְיָרְאוּand they will be afraidמִמֶּךָּ׃from you

    And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee.

11. 11

    וְהוֹתִרְךָand shall make you plenteousיְהֹוָהthe LORDלְטוֹבָהin goodsבִּפְרִיin the fruit ofבִטְנְךָyour wombוּבִפְרִיand in the fruit ofבְהֶמְתְּךָyour livestockוּבִפְרִיand in the fruit ofאַדְמָתֶךָyour landעַלuponהָאֲדָמָהthe landאֲשֶׁרwhichנִשְׁבַּעsworeיְהֹוָהthe LORDלַאֲבֹתֶיךָto your ancestorsלָתֶתto giveלָךְ׃to you

    And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee.

12. 12

    יִפְתַּחshall openיְהֹוָהthe LORDלְךָfor youאֶת־אוֹצָרוֹhis storehouseהַטּוֹבthe goodאֶת־הַשָּׁמַיִםthe heavensלָתֵתto giveמְטַר־אַרְצְךָthe rain of your landבְּעִתּוֹin its timeוּלְבָרֵךְand to blessאֵת־כׇּל־מַעֲשֵׂהall work ofיָדֶךָyour handוְהִלְוִיתָand you will lend toגּוֹיִםnationsרַבִּיםmanyוְאַתָּהand youלֹאnotתִלְוֶה׃you will borrow

    The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.

13. 13

    וּנְתָנְךָand will set youיְהֹוָהthe LORDלְרֹאשׁfor headוְלֹאand notלְזָנָבinto the tailוְהָיִיתָand you shall beרַקonlyלְמַעְלָהupwardוְלֹאand notתִהְיֶהbeלְמָטָּהdownwardsכִּי־תִשְׁמַעif you would hearken toאֶל־מִצְוֺתto the commandments ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָyour GodאֲשֶׁרwhichאָנֹכִיIמְצַוְּךָam commanding youהַיּוֹםthe dayלִשְׁמֹרto keepוְלַעֲשׂוֹת׃and do

    And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:

14. 14

    וְלֹאand notתָסוּרyou will turn asideמִכׇּל־הַדְּבָרִיםfrom all the wordsאֲשֶׁרwhichאָנֹכִיIמְצַוֶּהcommandאֶתְכֶםyouהַיּוֹםthe dayיָמִיןright handוּשְׂמֹאולand leftלָלֶכֶתto goאַחֲרֵיafterאֱלֹהִים־אֲחֵרִיםother godsלְעׇבְדָם׃to serve them

    And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

15. 15

    וְהָיָהand beאִם־לֹאif notתִשְׁמַעyou would hearken toבְּקוֹלthe voice ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָyour Godלִשְׁמֹרto keepלַעֲשׂוֹתto doאֶת־כׇּל־מִצְוֺתָיוall His commandmentsוְחֻקֹּתָיוand His statutesאֲשֶׁרwhichאָנֹכִיIמְצַוְּךָam commanding youהַיּוֹםthe dayוּבָאוּand shall comeעָלֶיךָupon youכׇּל־הַקְּלָלוֹתall the cursesהָאֵלֶּהtheseוְהִשִּׂיגוּךָ׃and they will overtake you

    But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:

16. 16

    אָרוּרcursed isאַתָּהyouבָּעִירin the cityוְאָרוּרand cursedאַתָּהyouבַּשָּׂדֶה׃in the field

    Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field.

17. 17

    אָרוּרcursed isטַנְאֲךָyour basketוּמִשְׁאַרְתֶּךָ׃and your kneading trough

    Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store.

18. 18

    אָרוּרcursed isפְּרִי־בִטְנְךָthe fruit of your wombוּפְרִיand the fruit ofאַדְמָתֶךָyour landשְׁגַרthe young ofאֲלָפֶיךָyour cattleוְעַשְׁתְּרֹתand the young ones ofצֹאנֶךָ׃your flock

    Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.

19. 19

    אָרוּרcursed isאַתָּהyouבְּבֹאֶךָwhen you comeוְאָרוּרand cursedאַתָּהyouבְּצֵאתֶךָ׃when you go out

    Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.

20. 20

    יְשַׁלַּחshall sendיְהֹוָהthe LORDבְּךָupon youאֶת־הַמְּאֵרָהthe curseאֶת־הַמְּהוּמָהthe confusionוְאֶת־הַמִּגְעֶרֶתand the rebukeבְּכׇל־מִשְׁלַחin all undertaking ofיָדְךָyour handאֲשֶׁרwhichתַּעֲשֶׂהyou makeעַדuntilהִשָּׁמֶדְךָyou are destroyedוְעַד־אֲבׇדְךָand until you perishמַהֵרquicklyמִפְּנֵיbecause ofרֹעַthe wickedness ofמַעֲלָלֶיךָyour deedsאֲשֶׁרwhichעֲזַבְתָּנִי׃you have forsaken me

    The LORD shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.

21. 21

    יַדְבֵּקwill make clingיְהֹוָהthe LORDבְּךָunto youאֶת־הַדָּבֶרthe pestilenceעַדuntilכַּלֹּתוֹhe has consumedאֹתְךָyouמֵעַלfrom uponהָאֲדָמָהthe landאֲשֶׁר־אַתָּהwhich youבָא־שָׁמָּהcame thereלְרִשְׁתָּהּ׃to possess it

    The LORD shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest to possess it.

22. 22

    יַכְּכָהwill strike youיְהֹוָהthe LORDבַּשַּׁחֶפֶתwith the consumptionוּבַקַּדַּחַתand with the feverוּבַדַּלֶּקֶתand with the inflammationוּבַחַרְחֻרand with feverish heatוּבַחֶרֶבand in the swordוּבַשִּׁדָּפוֹןand with the blightוּבַיֵּרָקוֹןand with the mildewוּרְדָפוּךָand they will pursue youעַדuntilאׇבְדֶךָ׃you perish

    The LORD shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.

23. 23

    וְהָיוּthen they shall beשָׁמֶיךָyour heavensאֲשֶׁרwhichעַל־רֹאשְׁךָupon your headנְחֹשֶׁתbrassוְהָאָרֶץand the earthאֲשֶׁר־תַּחְתֶּיךָwhich beneath youבַּרְזֶל׃iron

    And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.

24. 24

    יִתֵּןshall giveיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶת־מְטַרthe rain ofאַרְצְךָyour landאָבָקpowderוְעָפָרand dustמִן־הַשָּׁמַיִםfrom the heavensיֵרֵדshall come downעָלֶיךָupon youעַדuntilהִשָּׁמְדָךְ׃you are destroyed

    The LORD shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.

25. 25

    יִתֶּנְךָwill make youיְהֹוָהthe LORDנִגָּףdefeatedלִפְנֵיbeforeאֹיְבֶיךָyour enemiesבְּדֶרֶךְby the way ofאֶחָדoneתֵּצֵאshall go forthאֵלָיוto himוּבְשִׁבְעָהand in sevenדְרָכִיםwaysתָּנוּסyou shall fleeלְפָנָיוbefore himוְהָיִיתָand you shall beלְזַעֲוָהa terrorלְכֹלfor allמַמְלְכוֹתthe kingdoms ofהָאָרֶץ׃the earth

    The LORD shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them: and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.

26. 26

    וְהָיְתָהand it beנִבְלָתְךָyour corpseלְמַאֲכׇלfoodלְכׇל־עוֹףto all birdsהַשָּׁמַיִםthe heavensוּלְבֶהֱמַתand for the animals ofהָאָרֶץthe earthוְאֵיןand there is noמַחֲרִיד׃one who terrifies

    And thy carcase shall be meat unto all fowls of the air, and unto the beasts of the earth, and no man shall fray them away.

27. 27

    יַכְּכָהwill strike youיְהֹוָהthe LORDבִּשְׁחִיןwith the boils ofמִצְרַיִםEgypt[וּבַטְּחֹרִים]and with the tumorsוּבַגָּרָבand with the eczemaוּבֶחָרֶסand with scabiesאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־תוּכַלnot canלְהֵרָפֵא׃for healing

    The LORD will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed.

28. 28

    יַכְּכָהwill strike youיְהֹוָהthe LORDבְּשִׁגָּעוֹןwith madnessוּבְעִוָּרוֹןand with blindnessוּבְתִמְהוֹןand with bewilderment ofלֵבָב׃heart

    The LORD shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart:

29. 29

    וְהָיִיתָand you shall beמְמַשֵּׁשׁgropingבַּצׇּהֳרַיִםat noondayכַּאֲשֶׁרasיְמַשֵּׁשׁhe gropesהַעִוֵּרthe blindבָּאֲפֵלָהin the darknessוְלֹאand notתַצְלִיחַyou will make successfulאֶת־דְּרָכֶיךָyour waysוְהָיִיתָand you shall beאַךְbutעָשׁוּקoppressedוְגָזוּלand robbedכׇּל־הַיָּמִיםall the daysוְאֵיןand there is noמוֹשִׁיעַ׃savior

    And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and spoiled evermore, and no man shall save thee.

30. 30

    אִשָּׁהa womanתְאָרֵשׂyou will betrothוְאִישׁand a manאַחֵרother[יִשְׁכָּבֶנָּה]he will lie with herבַּיִתhouseתִּבְנֶהyou shall buildוְלֹא־תֵשֵׁבand not you will dwellבּוֹin itכֶּרֶםa vineyardתִּטַּעyou will plantוְלֹאand notתְחַלְּלֶנּוּ׃you will put to use it

    Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build an house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not gather the grapes thereof.

31. 31

    שׁוֹרְךָyour oxטָבוּחַslaughteredלְעֵינֶיךָto your eyesוְלֹאand notתֹאכַלyou shall eatמִמֶּנּוּfrom himחֲמֹרְךָyour donkeyגָּזוּלseizedמִלְּפָנֶיךָfrom before youוְלֹאand notיָשׁוּבhe shall returnלָךְto youצֹאנְךָyour flockנְתֻנוֹתgivenלְאֹיְבֶיךָto your enemiesוְאֵיןand there is noלְךָfor youמוֹשִׁיעַ׃savior

    Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof: thine ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee: thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have none to rescue them.

32. 32

    בָּנֶיךָyour sonsוּבְנֹתֶיךָand your daughtersנְתֻנִיםare assignedלְעַםa peopleאַחֵרotherוְעֵינֶיךָand your eyesרֹאוֹתare seeingוְכָלוֹתand longingאֲלֵיהֶםto themכׇּל־הַיּוֹםall the dayוְאֵיןand there is noלְאֵלpower inיָדֶךָ׃your hand

    Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long: and there shall be no might in thine hand.

33. 33

    פְּרִיfruitאַדְמָתְךָyour landוְכׇל־יְגִיעֲךָand all your laborsיֹאכַלhe shall eatעַםpeopleאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יָדָעְתָּnot you have knownוְהָיִיתָand you shall beרַקonlyעָשׁוּקoppressedוְרָצוּץand crushedכׇּל־הַיָּמִים׃all the days

    The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway:

34. 34

    וְהָיִיתָand you shall beמְשֻׁגָּעis madמִמַּרְאֵהfrom the sights ofעֵינֶיךָyour eyesאֲשֶׁרwhichתִּרְאֶה׃you shall see

    So that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.

35. 35

    יַכְּכָהwill strike youיְהֹוָהthe LORDבִּשְׁחִיןwith the boils ofרָעevilעַל־הַבִּרְכַּיִםupon the kneesוְעַל־הַשֹּׁקַיִםand upon the legsאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־תוּכַלnot canלְהֵרָפֵאfor healingמִכַּףfrom the sole ofרַגְלְךָyour footוְעַדand untoקׇדְקֳדֶךָ׃your scalp

    The LORD shall smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore botch that cannot be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the top of thy head.

36. 36

    יוֹלֵךְwill leadיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֹתְךָyouוְאֶת־מַלְכְּךָand your kingאֲשֶׁרwhichתָּקִיםyou will set upעָלֶיךָupon youאֶל־גּוֹיagainst nationאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יָדַעְתָּnot you knowאַתָּהyouוַאֲבֹתֶיךָand your ancestorsוְעָבַדְתָּand you shall serveשָּׁםthereאֱלֹהִים־אֲחֵרִיםother godsעֵץwoodוָאָבֶן׃and stone

    The LORD shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone.

37. 37

    וְהָיִיתָand you shall beלְשַׁמָּהan astonishmentלְמָשָׁלa bywordוְלִשְׁנִינָהand a tauntבְּכֹלin allהָעַמִּיםthe peopleאֲשֶׁר־יְנַהֶגְךָwhich will drive away youיְהֹוָהthe LORDשָׁמָּה׃there

    And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither the LORD shall lead thee.

38. 38

    זֶרַעseedרַבgreatתּוֹצִיאyou will bring outהַשָּׂדֶהthe fieldוּמְעַטand somewhatתֶּאֱסֹףyou will gatherכִּיforיַחְסְלֶנּוּit will consume itהָאַרְבֶּה׃the locusts

    Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall consume it.

39. 39

    כְּרָמִיםvineyardsתִּטַּעyou will plantוְעָבָדְתָּand you will serveוְיַיִןand wineלֹא־תִשְׁתֶּהnot you will drinkוְלֹאand notתֶאֱגֹרyou will gatherכִּיforתֹאכְלֶנּוּit will eat itהַתֹּלָעַת׃the worms

    Thou shalt plant vineyards, and dress them, but shalt neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worms shall eat them.

40. 40

    זֵיתִיםolive treesיִהְיוּshall beלְךָfor youבְּכׇל־גְּבוּלֶךָin all your territoryוְשֶׁמֶןand oilלֹאnotתָסוּךְyou will anoint yourselfכִּיforיִשַּׁלit will drop offזֵיתֶךָ׃your olives

    Thou shalt have olive trees throughout all thy coasts, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the oil; for thine olive shall cast his fruit.

41. 41

    בָּנִיםsonsוּבָנוֹתand daughtersתּוֹלִידyou will fatherוְלֹא־יִהְיוּand not shall beלָךְto youכִּיforיֵלְכוּthey should travelבַּשֶּׁבִי׃into the captivity

    Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity.

42. 42

    כׇּל־עֵצְךָall your treeוּפְרִיand the fruit ofאַדְמָתֶךָyour landיְיָרֵשׁit will take possession ofהַצְּלָצַל׃the locust

    All thy trees and fruit of thy land shall the locust consume.

43. 43

    הַגֵּרthe sojournerאֲשֶׁרwhichבְּקִרְבְּךָin your midstיַעֲלֶהlet ascendעָלֶיךָupon youמַעְלָהhigherמָּעְלָהand higherוְאַתָּהand youתֵרֵדyou will go downמַטָּהlowerמָּטָּה׃and lower

    The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low.

44. 44

    הוּאheיַלְוְךָhe will lend to youוְאַתָּהand youלֹאnotתַלְוֶנּוּyou will lend to himהוּאheיִהְיֶהshall beלְרֹאשׁfor headוְאַתָּהand youתִּהְיֶהshall beלְזָנָב׃into the tail

    He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.

45. 45

    וּבָאוּand shall comeעָלֶיךָupon youכׇּל־הַקְּלָלוֹתall the cursesהָאֵלֶּהtheseוּרְדָפוּךָand they will pursue youוְהִשִּׂיגוּךָand they will overtake youעַדuntilהִשָּׁמְדָךְyou are destroyedכִּי־לֹאthat notשָׁמַעְתָּyou have heardבְּקוֹלthe voice ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָyour Godלִשְׁמֹרto keepמִצְוֺתָיוHis commandmentsוְחֻקֹּתָיוand His statutesאֲשֶׁרwhichצִוָּךְ׃he has commanded you

    Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee:

46. 46

    וְהָיוּthen they shall beבְךָin youלְאוֹתfor a signוּלְמוֹפֵתand for a wonderוּבְזַרְעֲךָand in your seedעַד־עוֹלָם׃forever

    And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.

47. 47

    תַּחַתunderאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־עָבַדְתָּnot you have servedאֶת־יְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָyour Godבְּשִׂמְחָהwith joyוּבְטוּבand with goodness ofלֵבָבheartמֵרֹבfor the abundance ofכֹּל׃all

    Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;

48. 48

    וְעָבַדְתָּand you shall serveאֶת־אֹיְבֶיךָyour enemiesאֲשֶׁרwhichיְשַׁלְּחֶנּוּshall send against youיְהֹוָהthe LORDבָּךְagainst youבְּרָעָבin hungerוּבְצָמָאand in thirstוּבְעֵירֹםand in nakednessוּבְחֹסֶרand in lack ofכֹּלallוְנָתַןand he shall giveעֹלyokeבַּרְזֶלironעַל־צַוָּארֶךָupon your neckעַדuntilהִשְׁמִידוֹhe destroyed himאֹתָךְ׃you

    Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.

49. 49

    יִשָּׂאshall bearיְהֹוָהthe LORDעָלֶיךָupon youגּוֹיnationמֵרָחֹקfrom a distanceמִקְצֵהfrom the end ofהָאָרֶץthe earthכַּאֲשֶׁרasיִדְאֶהit swoops downהַנָּשֶׁרthe eagleגּוֹיnationאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־תִשְׁמַעnot you would hearken toלְשֹׁנוֹ׃its tongue

    The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;

50. 50

    גּוֹיnationעַזfierceפָּנִיםcountenanceאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יִשָּׂאshall not lift upפָנִיםpersonsלְזָקֵןto the ancientוְנַעַרand a little childלֹאnotיָחֹן׃he shall be gracious

    A nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old, nor shew favour to the young:

51. 51

    וְאָכַלand ateפְּרִיfruitבְהֶמְתְּךָyour livestockוּפְרִי־אַדְמָתְךָand the fruit of your groundעַדuntilהִשָּׁמְדָךְyou are destroyedאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יַשְׁאִירnot it will leaveלְךָfor youדָּגָןgrainתִּירוֹשׁnew wineוְיִצְהָרand fresh oilשְׁגַרthe young ofאֲלָפֶיךָyour cattleוְעַשְׁתְּרֹתand the young ones ofצֹאנֶךָyour flockעַדuntilהַאֲבִידוֹdestroys itאֹתָךְ׃you

    And he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy land, until thou be destroyed: which also shall not leave thee either corn, wine, or oil, or the increase of thy kine, or flocks of thy sheep, until he have destroyed thee.

52. 52

    וְהֵצַרand it will lay siegeלְךָfor youבְּכׇל־שְׁעָרֶיךָin all your gatesעַדuntilרֶדֶתcome downחֹמֹתֶיךָyour wallsהַגְּבֹהֹתthe highוְהַבְּצֻרוֹתand the fortifiedאֲשֶׁרwhichאַתָּהyouבֹּטֵחַare trustingבָּהֵןin themבְּכׇל־אַרְצֶךָin all your landוְהֵצַרand it will lay siegeלְךָfor youבְּכׇל־שְׁעָרֶיךָin all your gatesבְּכׇל־אַרְצְךָin all your landאֲשֶׁרwhichנָתַןgaveיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָyour Godלָךְ׃to you

    And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.

53. 53

    וְאָכַלְתָּand you shall eatפְרִי־בִטְנְךָthe fruit of your wombבְּשַׂרthe fleshבָּנֶיךָyour sonsוּבְנֹתֶיךָand your daughtersאֲשֶׁרwhichנָתַן־לְךָgave to youיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָyour Godבְּמָצוֹרin the siegeוּבְמָצוֹקand in the distressאֲשֶׁר־יָצִיקwhich he will bring distressלְךָfor youאֹיְבֶךָ׃your enemy

    And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:

54. 54

    הָאִישׁthe manהָרַךְthe gentleבְּךָin youוְהֶעָנֹגand delicateמְאֹדexceedinglyתֵּרַעit will be evilעֵינוֹhis eyeבְאָחִיוagainst his countrymanוּבְאֵשֶׁתand on the wife ofחֵיקוֹhis bosomוּבְיֶתֶרand on the remainder ofבָּנָיוhis sonsאֲשֶׁרwhichיוֹתִיר׃it will remain

    So that the man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave:

55. 55

    מִתֵּתthan to payלְאַחַדto oneמֵהֶםof themמִבְּשַׂרfrom the flesh ofבָּנָיוhis sonsאֲשֶׁרwhichיֹאכֵלshall he eatמִבְּלִיwithoutהִשְׁאִיר־לוֹhe left himכֹּלallבְּמָצוֹרin the siegeוּבְמָצוֹקand in the distressאֲשֶׁרwhichיָצִיקhe will bring distressלְךָfor youאֹיִבְךָyour enemyבְּכׇל־שְׁעָרֶיךָ׃in all your gates

    So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.

56. 56

    הָרַכָּהthe gentle womanבְךָin youוְהָעֲנֻגָּהand the delicate womanאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־נִסְּתָהnot she has attemptedכַף־רַגְלָהּthe sole of its footהַצֵּגthe to placeעַל־הָאָרֶץupon the landמֵהִתְעַנֵּגbecause was delicateוּמֵרֹךְand from gentlenessתֵּרַעit will be evilעֵינָהּher eyeבְּאִישׁtoward the husband ofחֵיקָהּher bosomוּבִבְנָהּand on her sonוּבְבִתָּהּ׃and on her daughter

    The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter,

57. 57

    וּבְשִׁלְיָתָהּand on her afterbirthהַיּוֹצֵתthe one which goes forthמִבֵּיןfrom betweenרַגְלֶיהָher feetוּבְבָנֶיהָand on her sonsאֲשֶׁרwhichתֵּלֵדwill she bear a childכִּי־תֹאכְלֵםbecause she will eat themבְּחֹסֶר־כֹּלin lack of allבַּסָּתֶרin secretבְּמָצוֹרin the siegeוּבְמָצוֹקand in the distressאֲשֶׁרwhichיָצִיקhe will bring distressלְךָfor youאֹיִבְךָyour enemyבִּשְׁעָרֶיךָ׃within your gates

    And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates.

58. 58

    אִם־לֹאif notתִשְׁמֹרyou will keptלַעֲשׂוֹתto doאֶת־כׇּל־דִּבְרֵיall the words ofהַתּוֹרָהthe Lawהַזֹּאתthisהַכְּתֻבִיםthose which were writtenבַּסֵּפֶרin the bookהַזֶּהthisלְיִרְאָהto fearאֶת־הַשֵּׁםthe nameהַנִּכְבָּדthe gloriousוְהַנּוֹרָאand the awesomeהַזֶּהthisאֵת־יְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָ׃your God

    If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD;

59. 59

    וְהִפְלָאand will make extraordinaryיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶת־מַכֹּתְךָyour plaguesוְאֵתandמַכּוֹתplaguesזַרְעֶךָyour seedמַכּוֹתplaguesגְּדֹלֹתlargeוְנֶאֱמָנוֹתand lastingוׇחֳלָיִםand sicknessesרָעִיםevilוְנֶאֱמָנִים׃and faithful

    Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.

60. 60

    וְהֵשִׁיבand he restoredבְּךָin youאֵת־כׇּל־מַדְוֵהall disease ofמִצְרַיִםEgyptאֲשֶׁרwhichיָגֹרְתָּyou were afraidמִפְּנֵיהֶםfrom before themוְדָבְקוּand they will clingבָּךְ׃in you

    Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee.

61. 61

    גַּםalsoכׇּל־חֳלִיall sicknessוְכׇל־מַכָּהand every plagueאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹאnotכָתוּבwrittenבְּסֵפֶרin the book ofהַתּוֹרָהthe Lawהַזֹּאתthisיַעְלֵםwill bring up themיְהֹוָהthe LORDעָלֶיךָupon youעַדuntilהִשָּׁמְדָךְ׃you are destroyed

    Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.

62. 62

    וְנִשְׁאַרְתֶּםand you will be leftבִּמְתֵיfew inמְעָטnumberתַּחַתunderאֲשֶׁרwhichהֱיִיתֶםyou have beenכְּכוֹכְבֵיlike the stars ofהַשָּׁמַיִםthe heavensלָרֹבin abundanceכִּי־לֹאthat notשָׁמַעְתָּyou have heardבְּקוֹלthe voice ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָ׃your God

    And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God.

63. 63

    וְהָיָהand beכַּאֲשֶׁר־שָׂשׂas rejoicedיְהֹוָהthe LORDעֲלֵיכֶםover youלְהֵיטִיבto do goodאֶתְכֶםyouוּלְהַרְבּוֹתand to increaseאֶתְכֶםyouכֵּןthusיָשִׂישׂwill rejoiceיְהֹוָהthe LORDעֲלֵיכֶםover youלְהַאֲבִידto destroyאֶתְכֶםyouוּלְהַשְׁמִידand to destroyאֶתְכֶםyouוְנִסַּחְתֶּםand you will be torn awayמֵעַלfrom uponהָאֲדָמָהthe landאֲשֶׁר־אַתָּהwhich youבָא־שָׁמָּהcame thereלְרִשְׁתָּהּ׃to possess it

    And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it.

64. 64

    וֶהֱפִיצְךָand will scatter youיְהֹוָהthe LORDבְּכׇל־הָעַמִּיםin all the peopleמִקְצֵהfrom the end ofהָאָרֶץthe earthוְעַד־קְצֵהand unto ends ofהָאָרֶץthe earthוְעָבַדְתָּand you shall serveשָּׁםthereאֱלֹהִים־אֲחֵרִיםother godsאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יָדַעְתָּnot you knowאַתָּהyouוַאֲבֹתֶיךָand your ancestorsעֵץwoodוָאָבֶן׃and stone

    And the LORD shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone.

65. 65

    וּבַגּוֹיִםand among the nationsהָהֵםthoseלֹאnotתַרְגִּיעַyou will restוְלֹא־יִהְיֶהand there shall be noמָנוֹחַa resting placeלְכַף־רַגְלֶךָfor the sole of your footוְנָתַןand shall giveיְהֹוָהthe LORDלְךָfor youשָׁםthereלֵבheartרַגָּזtremblingוְכִלְיוֹןand failing ofעֵינַיִםby the eyes ofוְדַאֲבוֹןand despair ofנָפֶשׁ׃of soul

    And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind:

66. 66

    וְהָיוּthen they shall beחַיֶּיךָyour lifeתְּלֻאִיםhung upלְךָfor youמִנֶּגֶדfrom beforeוּפָחַדְתָּand you will be in dreadלַיְלָהnightוְיוֹמָםand by dayוְלֹאand notתַאֲמִיןyou will trustבְּחַיֶּיךָ׃in your life

    And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night, and shalt have none assurance of thy life:

67. 67

    בַּבֹּקֶרin the morningתֹּאמַרyou sayמִי־יִתֵּןwould thatעֶרֶבeveningוּבָעֶרֶבand in the eveningתֹּאמַרyou sayמִי־יִתֵּןwould thatבֹּקֶרmorningמִפַּחַדfrom fearלְבָבְךָyour heartאֲשֶׁרwhichתִּפְחָדyou will dreadוּמִמַּרְאֵהand from the sights ofעֵינֶיךָyour eyesאֲשֶׁרwhichתִּרְאֶה׃you shall see

    In the morning thou shalt say, Would God it were even! and at even thou shalt say, Would God it were morning! for the fear of thine heart wherewith thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.

68. 68

    וֶהֱשִׁיבְךָand will make return youיְהֹוָהthe LORDמִצְרַיִםEgyptבׇּאֳנִיּוֹתin the shipsבַּדֶּרֶךְin the wayאֲשֶׁרwhichאָמַרְתִּיI saidלְךָfor youלֹא־תֹסִיףyou shall see no moreעוֹדany moreלִרְאֹתָהּto see itוְהִתְמַכַּרְתֶּםand you will sell yourselvesשָׁםthereלְאֹיְבֶיךָto your enemiesלַעֲבָדִיםfor servantsוְלִשְׁפָחוֹתand for handmaidsוְאֵיןand there is noקֹנֶה׃a buyer

    And the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you.

69. 69

    אֵלֶּהtheseדִבְרֵיthe words ofהַבְּרִיתthe covenantאֲשֶׁר־צִוָּהwhich commandedיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶת־מֹשֶׁהMosesלִכְרֹתto makeאֶת־בְּנֵיthe sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelבְּאֶרֶץin the land ofמוֹאָבMoabמִלְּבַדbesidesהַבְּרִיתthe covenantאֲשֶׁר־כָּרַתwhich He madeאִתָּםwith themבְּחֹרֵב׃at Horeb

    These are the words of the covenant, which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.
