1. 1

   כִּי־יִהְיֶהki-yih/YEif there isרִיבriva disputeבֵּיןbenbetweenאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenוְנִגְּשׁוּve/nig/ge/SHUand they comeאֶל־הַמִּשְׁפָּטel-ham/mish/PATto the judgmentוּשְׁפָטוּםu/she/fa/TUMand they judge themוְהִצְדִּיקוּve/hits/DI/kuthen they shall justifyאֶת־הַצַּדִּיקet-hats/tsad/DIKthe righteousוְהִרְשִׁיעוּve/hir/SHI/uand condemnאֶת־הָרָשָׁע׃et-ha/ra/SHAthe wicked

   If there be a controversy between men, and they come unto judgment, that the judges may judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked.

2. 2

   וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beאִם־בִּןim-binif worthy ofהַכּוֹתhak/KOTbeing beatenהָרָשָׁעha/ra/SHAthe wickedוְהִפִּילוֹve/hip/pi/LOthat shall cause him to lie downהַשֹּׁפֵטhash/sho/FETthe judgeוְהִכָּהוּve/hik/KA/huand have him beatenלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore himכְּדֵיke/DEaccording toרִשְׁעָתוֹrish/a/TOhis wickednessבְּמִסְפָּר׃be/mis/PARby count

   And it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his fault, by a certain number.

   אַרְבָּעִיםar/ba/IMfortyיַכֶּנּוּyak/KEN/nuhe may strike himלֹאlonotיֹסִיףyo/SIFhe shall addפֶּן־יֹסִיףpen-yo/SIFlest he addלְהַכֹּתוֹle/hak/ko/TOto strike himעַל־אֵלֶּהal-EL/lebeyond theseמַכָּהmak/KAwith a beatingרַבָּהrab/BAmanyוְנִקְלָהve/nik/LAand be degradedאָחִיךָa/CHI/khayour brotherלְעֵינֶיךָ׃le/e/NE/khain your eyes

   Forty stripes he may give him, and not exceed: lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then thy brother should seem vile unto thee.

   לֹא־תַחְסֹםlo-tach/SOMyou shall not muzzleשׁוֹרshoran oxבְּדִישׁוֹ׃be/di/SHOwhen it threshes

   Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn.

   כִּי־יֵשְׁבוּki-yesh/VUif dwellאַחִיםa/CHIMbrothersיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherוּמֵתu/METand diesאַחַדa/CHADoneמֵהֶםme/HEMof themוּבֵןu/VENand sonאֵין־לוֹen-lohe has noלֹא־תִהְיֶהlo-tih/YEshall not beאֵשֶׁת־הַמֵּתE/shet-ham/METthe wife of the deadהַחוּצָהha/CHU/tsaoutsideלְאִישׁle/ISHto a manזָרzaroutsiderיְבָמָהּye/va/MAher husband's brotherיָבֹאya/VOshall go inעָלֶיהָa/LE/hato herוּלְקָחָהּu/le/ka/CHAand take herלוֹloto himselfלְאִשָּׁהle/ish/SHAas wifeוְיִבְּמָהּ׃ve/yib/be/MAand act as husband’s brother to her

   If brethren dwell together, and one of them die, and have no child, the wife of the dead shall not marry without unto a stranger: her husband's brother shall go in unto her, and take her to him to wife, and perform the duty of an husband's brother unto her.

   וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beהַבְּכוֹרhab/be/KHORthe firstbornאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatתֵּלֵדte/LEDshe bearsיָקוּםya/KUMshall succeedעַל־שֵׁםal-shemto the name ofאָחִיוa/CHIVhis brotherהַמֵּתham/METwho is deadוְלֹא־יִמָּחֶהve/LO-yim/ma/CHEthat not be blotted outשְׁמוֹshe/MOhis nameמִיִּשְׂרָאֵל׃miy/Yis/ra/ELfrom Israel

   And it shall be, that the firstborn which she beareth shall succeed in the name of his brother which is dead, that his name be not put out of Israel.

   וְאִם־לֹאve/IM-loand if notיַחְפֹּץyach/POTSdesiresהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manלָקַחַתla/KA/chatto takeאֶת־יְבִמְתּוֹet-ye/vim/TOhis brother's wifeוְעָלְתָהve/a/le/TAthen shall go upיְבִמְתּוֹye/vim/TOhis brother's wifeהַשַּׁעְרָהhash/SHA/rato the gateאֶל־הַזְּקֵנִיםel-haz/ze/ke/NIMto the eldersוְאָמְרָהve/a/me/RAand sayמֵאֵןme/ENrefusesיְבָמִיye/va/MImy husband's brotherלְהָקִיםle/ha/KIMto raise upלְאָחִיוle/a/CHIVfor his brotherשֵׁםshema nameבְּיִשְׂרָאֵלbe/Yis/ra/ELin Israelלֹאlonotאָבָהa/VAhe is willingיַבְּמִי׃yab/be/MIto act as husband’s brother to me

   And if the man like not to take his brother's wife, then let his brother's wife go up to the gate unto the elders, and say, My husband's brother refuseth to raise up unto his brother a name in Israel, he will not perform the duty of my husband's brother.

   וְקָרְאוּ־לוֹve/ka/re/U-lothen shall call himזִקְנֵי־עִירוֹzik/NE-i/ROthe elders of his cityוְדִבְּרוּve/dib/be/RUand speakאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himוְעָמַדve/a/MADand if he standsוְאָמַרve/a/MARand saysלֹאlonotחָפַצְתִּיcha/FATS/tiI desireלְקַחְתָּהּ׃le/kach/TAto take her

   Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak unto him: and if he stand to it, and say, I like not to take her;

9. 9

   וְנִגְּשָׁהve/nig/ge/SHAthen shall comeיְבִמְתּוֹye/vim/TOhis brother's wifeאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himלְעֵינֵיle/e/NEin the presence ofהַזְּקֵנִיםhaz/ze/ke/NIMthe eldersוְחָלְצָהve/cha/le/TSAand pull offנַעֲלוֹna/a/LOhis sandalמֵעַלme/ALfromרַגְלוֹrag/LOhis footוְיָרְקָהve/ya/re/KAand spitבְּפָנָיוbe/fa/NAYVin his faceוְעָנְתָהve/AN/taand answerוְאָמְרָהve/a/me/RAand sayכָּכָהKA/khasoיֵעָשֶׂהye/a/SEshall be doneלָאִישׁla/ISHto the manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹא־יִבְנֶהlo-yiv/NEwill not buildאֶת־בֵּיתet-betthe house ofאָחִיו׃a/CHIVhis brother

   Then shall his brother's wife come unto him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face, and shall answer and say, So shall it be done unto that man that will not build up his brother's house.

10. 10

    וְנִקְרָאve/nik/RAand shall be calledשְׁמוֹshe/MOhis nameבְּיִשְׂרָאֵלbe/Yis/ra/ELin Israelבֵּיתbetthe house ofחֲלוּץcha/LUTSthe one stripped ofהַנָּעַל׃han/NA/althe sandal

    And his name shall be called in Israel, The house of him that hath his shoe loosed.

11. 11

    כִּי־יִנָּצוּki-yin/na/TSUwhen fightאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherאִישׁisha manוְאָחִיוve/a/CHIVand his brotherוְקָרְבָהve/ka/re/VAand draws nearאֵשֶׁתE/shetthe wife ofהָאֶחָדha/e/CHADthe oneלְהַצִּילle/hats/TSILto rescueאֶת־אִישָׁהּet-i/SHAher husbandמִיַּדmiy/YADfrom the hand ofמַכֵּהוּmak/KE/huhim who strikes himוְשָׁלְחָהve/sha/le/CHAand puts outיָדָהּya/DAher handוְהֶחֱזִיקָהve/he/che/ZI/kaand seizesבִּמְבֻשָׁיו׃bim/vu/SHAYVon his genitals

    When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets:

12. 12

    וְקַצֹּתָהve/kats/tso/TAthen you shall cut offאֶת־כַּפָּהּet-kap/PAher handלֹאlonotתָחוֹסta/CHOSshall have pityעֵינֶךָ׃e/NE/khayour eye

    Then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity her.

13. 13

    לֹא־יִהְיֶהlo-yih/YEyou shall not haveלְךָle/KHAyouבְּכִיסְךָbe/khi/se/KHAin your bagאֶבֶןE/vena weightוָאָבֶןva/A/venand a weightגְּדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatוּקְטַנָּה׃u/ke/tan/NAand a small

    Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, a great and a small.

14. 14

    לֹא־יִהְיֶהlo-yih/YEyou shall not haveלְךָle/KHAyouבְּבֵיתְךָbe/ve/te/KHAin your houseאֵיפָהe/FAan ephahוְאֵיפָהve/e/FAand an ephahגְּדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatוּקְטַנָּה׃u/ke/tan/NAand a small

    Thou shalt not have in thine house divers measures, a great and a small.

15. 15

    אֶבֶןE/vena weightשְׁלֵמָהshe/le/MAfullוָצֶדֶקva/TSE/dekand justיִהְיֶה־לָּךְyih/YE-lakhyou shall haveאֵיפָהe/FAan ephahשְׁלֵמָהshe/le/MAfullוָצֶדֶקva/TSE/dekand justיִהְיֶה־לָּךְyih/YE-lakhyou shall haveלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatיַאֲרִיכוּya/a/RI/khushall be prolongedיָמֶיךָya/ME/khayour daysעַלalonהָאֲדָמָהha/a/da/MAthe landאֲשֶׁר־יְהֹוָהa/SHER-Adonaiwhich the LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godנֹתֵןno/TENis givingלָךְ׃lakhto you

    But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

16. 16

    כִּיkiforתוֹעֲבַתto/a/VATan abomination toיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godכׇּל־עֹשֵׂהkol-O/seall who doאֵלֶּהEL/letheseכֹּלkolallעֹשֵׂהo/SEwho doעָוֶל׃A/velinjustice

    For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto the LORD thy God.

17. 17

    זָכוֹרza/KHORrememberאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂהet-a/SHER-a/SAwhat didלְךָle/KHAto youעֲמָלֵקA/ma/LEKAmalekבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhon the wayבְּצֵאתְכֶםbe/tse/te/KHEMwhen you came outמִמִּצְרָיִם׃mim/Mits/RA/yimfrom Egypt

    Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth out of Egypt;

18. 18

    אֲשֶׁרa/SHERhowקָרְךָka/re/KHAhe met youבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhon the wayוַיְזַנֵּבvay/zan/NEVand attacked the rear ofבְּךָbe/KHAyouכׇּל־הַנֶּחֱשָׁלִיםkol-han/ne/che/sha/LIMall the stragglersאַחֲרֶיךָa/cha/RE/khabehind youוְאַתָּהve/at/TAand youעָיֵףa/YEFwere faintוְיָגֵעַve/ya/GE/aand wearyוְלֹאve/LOand he did notיָרֵאya/REfearאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

    How he met thee by the way, and smote the hindmost of thee, even all that were feeble behind thee, when thou wast faint and weary; and he feared not God.

19. 19

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAtherefore it shall beבְּהָנִיחַbe/ha/NI/achwhen has given restיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godלְךָle/KHAfor youמִכׇּל־אֹיְבֶיךָmik/KOL-oy/VE/khafrom all your enemiesמִסָּבִיבmis/sa/VIVaroundבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichיְהֹוָה־אֱלֹהֶיךָAdonai-e/lo/HE/khathe LORD your Godנֹתֵןno/TENis givingלְךָle/KHAfor youנַחֲלָהna/cha/LAas an inheritanceלְרִשְׁתָּהּle/rish/TAto possess itתִּמְחֶהtim/CHEyou shall blot outאֶת־זֵכֶרet-ZE/kherthe remembrance ofעֲמָלֵקA/ma/LEKAmalekמִתַּחַתmit/TA/chatfrom underהַשָּׁמָיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensלֹאlonotתִּשְׁכָּח׃tish/KACHyou shall forget

    Therefore it shall be, when the LORD thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.
