Deuteronomy 24 דְּבָרִים פרק כ״ד

   כִּי־יִקַּחki-yik/KACHif takesאִישׁisha manאִשָּׁהish/SHAa wifeוּבְעָלָהּu/ve/a/LAand marries herוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beאִם־לֹאim-loif notתִמְצָא־חֵןtim/TSA-chenshe finds favorבְּעֵינָיוbe/e/NAYVin his eyesכִּי־מָצָאki-MA/tsabecause he has foundבָהּvain herעֶרְוַתer/VATthe nakedness ofדָּבָרda/VARa thingוְכָתַבve/KHA/tavthen he shall writeלָהּlaherסֵפֶרSE/fera bill ofכְּרִיתֻתke/ri/TUTdivorceוְנָתַןve/na/TANand put itבְּיָדָהּbe/ya/DAinto her handוְשִׁלְּחָהּve/shil/le/CHAand send herמִבֵּיתוֹ׃mib/be/TOfrom his house

   When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.

   וְיָצְאָהve/ya/tse/Aand when she has departedמִבֵּיתוֹmib/be/TOfrom his houseוְהָלְכָהve/ha/le/KHAand goesוְהָיְתָהve/ha/ye/TAand becomesלְאִישׁ־אַחֵר׃le/ISH-a/CHERanother man’s

   And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife.

   וּשְׂנֵאָהּu/se/ne/Aand hates herהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manהָאַחֲרוֹןha/a/cha/RONthe latterוְכָתַבve/KHA/tavand writesלָהּlaherסֵפֶרSE/fera bill ofכְּרִיתֻתke/ri/TUTdivorceוְנָתַןve/na/TANand puts itבְּיָדָהּbe/ya/DAinto her handוְשִׁלְּחָהּve/shil/le/CHAand sends herמִבֵּיתוֹmib/be/TOfrom his houseאוֹoorכִיkhiifיָמוּתya/MUTdiesהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manהָאַחֲרוֹןha/a/cha/RONthe latterאֲשֶׁר־לְקָחָהּa/SHER-le/ka/CHAwho took herלוֹloto himלְאִשָּׁה׃le/ish/SHAas wife

   And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife;

   לֹא־יוּכַלlo-yu/KHALmay notבַּעְלָהּba/LAher husbandהָרִאשׁוֹןha/ri/SHONthe firstאֲשֶׁר־שִׁלְּחָהּa/SHER-shil/le/CHAwho sent her awayלָשׁוּבla/SHUVto returnלְקַחְתָּהּle/kach/TAto take herלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beלוֹlohisלְאִשָּׁהle/ish/SHAwifeאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהֻטַּמָּאָהhut/tam/MA/ashe has been defiledכִּי־תוֹעֵבָהki-to/e/VAfor an abominationהִואhivthat isלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְלֹאve/LOand notתַחֲטִיאta/cha/TIyou shall bring sin uponאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe landאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godנֹתֵןno/TENis givingלְךָle/KHAfor youנַחֲלָה׃na/cha/LAas an inheritance

   Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the LORD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

   כִּי־יִקַּחki-yik/KACHwhen takesאִישׁisha manאִשָּׁהish/SHAa wifeחֲדָשָׁהcha/da/SHAnewלֹאlonotיֵצֵאye/TSEhe shall go outבַּצָּבָאbats/tsa/VAwith the armyוְלֹא־יַעֲבֹרve/LO-ya/a/VORnor shall passעָלָיוa/LAYVupon himלְכׇל־דָּבָרle/KHOL-da/VARany businessנָקִיna/KIfreeיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beלְבֵיתוֹle/ve/TOat his homeשָׁנָהsha/NAyearאֶחָתe/CHAToneוְשִׂמַּחve/sim/MACHand shall make happyאֶת־אִשְׁתּוֹet-ish/TOhis wifeאֲשֶׁר־לָקָח׃a/SHER-la/KACHwhom he has taken

   When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken.

   לֹא־יַחֲבֹלlo-ya/cha/VOLshall not take in pledgeרֵחַיִםre/CHA/yima hand millוָרָכֶבva/RA/khevor the upper millstoneכִּי־נֶפֶשׁki-NE/feshfor a lifeהוּאhuheחֹבֵל׃cho/VELtakes in pledge

   No man shall take the nether or the upper millstone to pledge: for he taketh a man's life to pledge.

7. 7

   כִּי־יִמָּצֵאki-yim/ma/TSEif is foundאִישׁisha manגֹּנֵבgo/NEVstealingנֶפֶשׁNE/fesha personמֵאֶחָיוme/e/CHAYVof his brethrenמִבְּנֵיmib/be/NEof the children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוְהִתְעַמֶּר־בּוֹve/hit/am/MER-boand treats him as a slaveוּמְכָרוֹu/me/kha/ROor sells himוּמֵתu/METthen shall dieהַגַּנָּבhag/gan/NAVthe thiefהַהוּאha/HUthatוּבִעַרְתָּu/vi/ar/TAso you shall put awayהָרָעha/RAthe evilמִקִּרְבֶּךָ׃mik/kir/BE/khafrom among you

   If a man be found stealing any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and maketh merchandise of him, or selleth him; then that thief shall die; and thou shalt put evil away from among you.

   הִשָּׁמֶרhish/SHA/mertake heedבְּנֶגַע־הַצָּרַעַתbe/NE/ga-hats/tsa/RA/atin the plague of leprosyלִשְׁמֹרlish/MORto keepמְאֹדme/ODveryוְלַעֲשׂוֹתve/la/a/SOTand to doכְּכֹלke/KHOLaccording to allאֲשֶׁר־יוֹרוּa/SHER-yo/RUthat teachאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsהַלְוִיִּםHal/viy/YIMthe Levitesכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasצִוִּיתִםtsiv/vi/TIMI commanded themתִּשְׁמְרוּtish/me/RUyou shall keepלַעֲשׂוֹת׃la/a/SOTto do

   Take heed in the plague of leprosy, that thou observe diligently, and do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you: as I commanded them, so ye shall observe to do.

9. 9

   זָכוֹרza/KHORrememberאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂהet-a/SHER-a/SAwhat didיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godלְמִרְיָםle/Mir/YAMto Miriamבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhon the wayבְּצֵאתְכֶםbe/tse/te/KHEMwhen you came outמִמִּצְרָיִם׃mim/Mits/RA/yimfrom Egypt

   Remember what the LORD thy God did unto Miriam by the way, after that ye were come forth out of Egypt.

10. 10

    כִּי־תַשֶּׁהki-tash/SHEwhen you lendבְרֵעֲךָve/re/a/KHAto your neighborמַשַּׁאתmash/SHATa loan ofמְאוּמָהme/U/maanythingלֹא־תָבֹאlo-ta/VOyou shall not goאֶל־בֵּיתוֹel-be/TOto his houseלַעֲבֹטla/a/VOTto takeעֲבֹטוֹ׃a/vo/TOhis pledge

    When thou dost lend thy brother any thing, thou shalt not go into his house to fetch his pledge.

11. 11

    בַּחוּץba/CHUTSoutsideתַּעֲמֹדta/a/MODyou shall standוְהָאִישׁve/ha/ISHand the manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERto whomאַתָּהat/TAyouנֹשֶׁהno/SHElendבוֹvohimיוֹצִיאyo/TSIshall bring outאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youאֶת־הַעֲבוֹטet-ha/a/VOTthe pledgeהַחוּצָה׃ha/CHU/tsaoutside

    Thou shalt stand abroad, and the man to whom thou dost lend shall bring out the pledge abroad unto thee.

12. 12

    וְאִם־אִישׁve/IM-ishand if a manעָנִיa/NIpoorהוּאhuis heלֹאlonotתִשְׁכַּבtish/KAVyou shall sleepבַּעֲבֹטוֹ׃ba/a/vo/TOwith his pledge

    And if the man be poor, thou shalt not sleep with his pledge:

13. 13

    הָשֵׁבha/SHEVrestoreתָּשִׁיבta/SHIVyou shall restoreלוֹloto himאֶת־הַעֲבוֹטet-ha/a/VOTthe pledgeכְּבוֹאke/VOwhen setsהַשֶּׁמֶשׁhash/SHE/meshthe sunוְשָׁכַבve/sha/KHAVthat he may sleepבְּשַׂלְמָתוֹbe/sal/ma/TOin his garmentוּבֵרְכֶךָּu/ver/KHEK/kaand bless youוּלְךָu/le/KHAand to youתִּהְיֶהtih/YEit shall beצְדָקָהtse/da/KArighteousnessלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָ׃e/lo/HE/khayour God

    In any case thou shalt deliver him the pledge again when the sun goeth down, that he may sleep in his own raiment, and bless thee: and it shall be righteousness unto thee before the LORD thy God.

14. 14

    לֹא־תַעֲשֹׁקlo-ta/a/SHOKyou shall not oppressשָׂכִירsa/KHIRa hired servantעָנִיa/NIpoorוְאֶבְיוֹןve/ev/YONand needyמֵאַחֶיךָme/a/CHE/khaof your brethrenאוֹoorמִגֵּרְךָmig/ger/KHAof your strangersאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho areבְּאַרְצְךָbe/ar/tse/KHAin your landבִּשְׁעָרֶיךָ׃bish/a/RE/khawithin your gates

    Thou shalt not oppress an hired servant that is poor and needy, whether he be of thy brethren, or of thy strangers that are in thy land within thy gates:

15. 15

    בְּיוֹמוֹbe/yo/MOon his dayתִתֵּןtit/TENyou shall giveשְׂכָרוֹse/kha/ROhis wagesוְלֹא־תָבוֹאve/LO-ta/VOnor shall go downעָלָיוa/LAYVupon itהַשֶּׁמֶשׁhash/SHE/meshthe sunכִּיkiforעָנִיa/NIpoorהוּאhuhe isוְאֵלָיוve/e/LAYVand on itהוּאhuheנֹשֵׂאno/SEsetsאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹet-naf/SHOhis lifeוְלֹא־יִקְרָאve/LO-yik/RAlest he cryעָלֶיךָa/LE/khaagainst youאֶל־יְהֹוָהel-Adonaito the LORDוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it beבְךָve/KHAin youחֵטְא׃chetsin

    At his day thou shalt give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down upon it; for he is poor, and setteth his heart upon it: lest he cry against thee unto the LORD, and it be sin unto thee.

16. 16

    לֹא־יוּמְתוּlo-yum/TUshall not be put to deathאָבוֹתa/VOTthe fathersעַל־בָּנִיםal-ba/NIMfor the childrenוּבָנִיםu/va/NIMnor the childrenלֹא־יוּמְתוּlo-yum/TUshall be put to deathעַל־אָבוֹתal-a/VOTfor the fathersאִישׁisheachבְּחֶטְאוֹbe/chet/Ofor his own sinיוּמָתוּ׃yu/MA/tushall be put to death

    The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

17. 17

    לֹאlonotתַטֶּהtat/TEyou shall pervertמִשְׁפַּטmish/PATthe judgment ofגֵּרgerthe strangerיָתוֹםya/TOMthe fatherlessוְלֹאve/LOnorתַחֲבֹלta/cha/VOLtake in pledgeבֶּגֶדBE/gedthe garment ofאַלְמָנָה׃al/ma/NAa widow

    Thou shalt not pervert the judgment of the stranger, nor of the fatherless; nor take a widow's raiment to pledge:

18. 18

    וְזָכַרְתָּve/za/khar/TAand you shall rememberכִּיkithatעֶבֶדE/veda servantהָיִיתָha/YI/tayou wereבְּמִצְרַיִםbe/Mits/RA/yimin Egyptוַיִּפְדְּךָvay/yif/de/KHAand redeemed youיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIמְצַוְּךָme/tsav/ve/KHAcommand youלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe thingהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    But thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt, and the LORD thy God redeemed thee thence: therefore I command thee to do this thing.

19. 19

    כִּיkiwhenתִקְצֹרtik/TSORyou reapקְצִירְךָke/tsi/re/KHAyour harvestבְשָׂדֶךָve/sa/DE/khain your fieldוְשָׁכַחְתָּve/sha/khach/TAand forgetעֹמֶרO/mera sheafבַּשָּׂדֶהbas/sa/DEin the fieldלֹאlonotתָשׁוּבta/SHUVyou shall go backלְקַחְתּוֹle/kach/TOto take itלַגֵּרlag/GERfor the strangerלַיָּתוֹםlay/ya/TOMfor the fatherlessוְלָאַלְמָנָהve/la/al/ma/NAand for the widowיִהְיֶהyih/YEit shall beלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatיְבָרֶכְךָye/va/rekh/KHAmay bless youיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godבְּכֹלbe/KHOLin allמַעֲשֵׂהma/a/SEthe work ofיָדֶיךָ׃ya/DE/khayour hands

    When thou cuttest down thine harvest in thy field, and hast forgot a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fetch it: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hands.

20. 20

    כִּיkiwhenתַחְבֹּטtach/BOTyou beatזֵיתְךָze/te/KHAyour olive treeלֹאlonotתְפַאֵרte/fa/ERyou will go over the boughsאַחֲרֶיךָa/cha/RE/khaafter youלַגֵּרlag/GERfor the strangerלַיָּתוֹםlay/ya/TOMfor the fatherlessוְלָאַלְמָנָהve/la/al/ma/NAand for the widowיִהְיֶה׃yih/YEit shall be

    When thou beatest thine olive tree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

21. 21

    כִּיkiwhenתִבְצֹרtiv/TSORyou gather the grapes ofכַּרְמְךָkar/me/KHAyour vineyardלֹאlonotתְעוֹלֵלte/o/LELyou shall gleanאַחֲרֶיךָa/cha/RE/khaafter youלַגֵּרlag/GERfor the strangerלַיָּתוֹםlay/ya/TOMfor the fatherlessוְלָאַלְמָנָהve/la/al/ma/NAand for the widowיִהְיֶה׃yih/YEit shall be

    When thou gatherest the grapes of thy vineyard, thou shalt not glean it afterward: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

22. 22

    וְזָכַרְתָּve/za/khar/TAand you shall rememberכִּי־עֶבֶדki-E/vedthat a servantהָיִיתָha/YI/tayou wereבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofמִצְרָיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIמְצַוְּךָme/tsav/ve/KHAcommand youלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe thingהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt: therefore I command thee to do this thing.
