Deuteronomy 18 דְּבָרִים פרק י״ח

1. 1

   לֹא־יִהְיֶהlo-yih/YEshall have noלַכֹּהֲנִיםlak/ko/ha/NIMto the priestsהַלְוִיִּםHal/viy/YIMthe Levitesכׇּל־שֵׁבֶטkol-SHE/vetall the tribe ofלֵוִיLe/VILeviחֵלֶקCHE/lekportionוְנַחֲלָהve/na/cha/LAand inheritanceעִם־יִשְׂרָאֵלim-Yis/ra/ELwith Israelאִשֵּׁיish/SHEthe offerings by fire ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְנַחֲלָתוֹve/na/cha/la/TOand His inheritanceיֹאכֵלוּן׃yo/khe/LUNthey shall eat

   The priests the Levites, and all the tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and his inheritance.

2. 2

   וְנַחֲלָהve/na/cha/LAand inheritanceלֹא־יִהְיֶה־לּוֹlo-yih/YE-loshall they have noבְּקֶרֶבbe/KE/revamongאֶחָיוe/CHAYVhis brethrenיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהוּאhuisנַחֲלָתוֹna/cha/la/TOhis inheritanceכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasדִּבֶּר־לוֹ׃dib/BER-loHe has said to them

   Therefore shall they have no inheritance among their brethren: the LORD is their inheritance, as he hath said unto them.

3. 3

   וְזֶהve/ZEand thisיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beמִשְׁפַּטmish/PATthe due ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsמֵאֵתme/ETfromהָעָםha/AMthe peopleמֵאֵתme/ETfromזֹבְחֵיzov/CHEthose who offerהַזֶּבַחhaz/ZE/vachthe sacrificeאִם־שׁוֹרim-shorwhether it be oxאִם־שֶׂהim-seor sheepוְנָתַןve/na/TANand they shall giveלַכֹּהֵןlak/ko/HENto the priestהַזְּרֹעַhaz/ze/RO/athe shoulderוְהַלְּחָיַיִםve/hal/le/cha/YA/yimand the two cheeksוְהַקֵּבָה׃ve/hak/ke/VAand the maw

   And this shall be the priest's due from the people, from them that offer a sacrifice, whether it be ox or sheep; and they shall give unto the priest the shoulder, and the two cheeks, and the maw.

   רֵאשִׁיתre/SHITthe firstfruits ofדְּגָנְךָde/ga/ne/KHAyour grainתִּירֹשְׁךָti/rosh/KHAyour new wineוְיִצְהָרֶךָve/yits/ha/RE/khaand your oilוְרֵאשִׁיתve/re/SHITand the first ofגֵּזgezthe fleece ofצֹאנְךָtso/ne/KHAyour flockתִּתֶּן־לוֹ׃tit/TEN-loyou shall give him

   The firstfruit also of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the first of the fleece of thy sheep, shalt thou give him.

   כִּיkiforבוֹvohimבָּחַרba/CHARhas chosenיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godמִכׇּל־שְׁבָטֶיךָmik/KOL-she/va/TE/khaout of all your tribesלַעֲמֹדla/a/MODto standלְשָׁרֵתle/sha/RETto ministerבְּשֵׁם־יְהֹוָהbe/SHEM-Adonaiin the name of the LORDהוּאhuhimוּבָנָיוu/va/NAYVand his sonsכׇּל־הַיָּמִים׃kol-hay/ya/MIMfor ever

   For the LORD thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stand to minister in the name of the LORD, him and his sons for ever.

6. 6

   וְכִי־יָבֹאve/KHI-ya/VOand if comesהַלֵּוִיhal/Le/VIthe Leviteמֵאַחַדme/a/CHADfrom any ofשְׁעָרֶיךָshe/a/RE/khayour gatesמִכׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵלmik/KOL-yis/ra/ELfrom all Israelאֲשֶׁר־הוּאa/SHER-huwhere heגָּרgarsojournedשָׁםshamthereוּבָאu/VAand comesבְּכׇל־אַוַּתbe/KHOL-av/VATwith all the desire ofנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhis soulאֶל־הַמָּקוֹםel-ham/ma/KOMto the placeאֲשֶׁר־יִבְחַרa/SHER-yiv/CHARwhich shall chooseיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

   And if a Levite come from any of thy gates out of all Israel, where he sojourned, and come with all the desire of his mind unto the place which the LORD shall choose;

   וְשֵׁרֵתve/she/RETthen he shall ministerבְּשֵׁםbe/SHEMin the name ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהָיוe/lo/HAYVhis Godכְּכׇל־אֶחָיוke/KHOL-e/CHAYVas all his brethrenהַלְוִיִּםHal/viy/YIMthe Levitesהָעֹמְדִיםha/om/DIMdo who standשָׁםshamthereלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

   Then he shall minister in the name of the LORD his God, as all his brethren the Levites do, which stand there before the LORD.

8. 8

   חֵלֶקCHE/lekportionsכְּחֵלֶקke/CHE/leklike portionsיֹאכֵלוּyo/KHE/luthey shall eatלְבַדle/VADbesidesמִמְכָּרָיוmim/ka/RAYVhis salesעַל־הָאָבוֹת׃al-ha/a/VOTof the fathers

   They shall have like portions to eat, beside that which cometh of the sale of his patrimony.

9. 9

   כִּיkiwhenאַתָּהat/TAyouבָּאbacomeאֶל־הָאָרֶץel-ha/A/retsinto the landאֲשֶׁר־יְהֹוָהa/SHER-Adonaiwhich the LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godנֹתֵןno/TENis givingלָךְlakhto youלֹא־תִלְמַדlo-til/MADyou shall not learnלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doכְּתוֹעֲבֹתke/to/a/VOTafter the abominations ofהַגּוֹיִםhag/go/YIMthe nationsהָהֵם׃ha/HEMthose

   When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.

10. 10

    לֹא־יִמָּצֵאlo-yim/MA/tsethere shall not be foundבְךָve/KHAamong youמַעֲבִירma/a/VIRone who makes pass throughבְּנוֹ־וּבִתּוֹbe/NO-u/vit/TOhis son and his daughterבָּאֵשׁba/ESHthe fireקֹסֵםko/SEMone who usesקְסָמִיםke/sa/MIMdivinationמְעוֹנֵןme/o/NENone who practices witchcraftוּמְנַחֵשׁu/me/na/CHESHor an interpreter of omensוּמְכַשֵּׁף׃u/me/khash/SHEFor a sorcerer

    There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,

11. 11

    וְחֹבֵרve/cho/VERor one who castsחָבֶרCHA/vera spellוְשֹׁאֵלve/sho/ELor one who consultsאוֹבova mediumוְיִדְּעֹנִיve/yid/de/o/NIor a wizardוְדֹרֵשׁve/do/RESHor one who inquiresאֶל־הַמֵּתִים׃el-ham/me/TIMof the dead

    Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

12. 12

    כִּי־תוֹעֲבַתki-to/a/VATfor an abomination toיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDכׇּל־עֹשֵׂהkol-O/seare all who doאֵלֶּהEL/letheseוּבִגְלַלu/vig/LALand because ofהַתּוֹעֵבֹתhat/to/e/VOTthe abominationsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godמוֹרִישׁmo/RISHdrives outאוֹתָםo/TAMthemמִפָּנֶיךָ׃mip/pa/NE/khafrom before you

    For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

13. 13

    תָּמִיםta/MIMblamelessתִּהְיֶהtih/YEyou shall beעִםimwithיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָ׃e/lo/HE/khayour God

    Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.

14. 14

    כִּיkiforהַגּוֹיִםhag/go/YIMthe nationsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomאַתָּהat/TAyouיוֹרֵשׁyo/RESHshall dispossessאוֹתָםo/TAMthemאֶל־מְעֹנְנִיםel-me/on/NIMto soothsayersוְאֶל־קֹסְמִיםve/EL-kos/MIMand divinersיִשְׁמָעוּyish/MA/uhearkenedוְאַתָּהve/at/TAbut as for youלֹאlonotכֵןkhensoנָתַןna/TANhas allowedלְךָle/KHAyouיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָ׃e/lo/HE/khayour God

    For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.

15. 15

    נָבִיאna/VIa prophetמִקִּרְבְּךָmik/kir/be/KHAfrom among youמֵאַחֶיךָme/a/CHE/khaof your brethrenכָּמֹנִיka/MO/nilike meיָקִיםya/KIMwill raise upלְךָle/KHAfor youיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himתִּשְׁמָעוּן׃tish/ma/UNyou shall hearken

    The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;

16. 16

    כְּכֹלke/KHOLaccording to allאֲשֶׁר־שָׁאַלְתָּa/SHER-sha/AL/tathat you desiredמֵעִםme/IMofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godבְּחֹרֵבbe/Cho/REVat Horebבְּיוֹםbe/YOMon the day ofהַקָּהָלhak/ka/HALthe assemblyלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingלֹאlonotאֹסֵףo/SEFlet me againלִשְׁמֹעַlish/MO/ahearאֶת־קוֹלet-kolthe voice ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהָיe/lo/HAYmy Godוְאֶת־הָאֵשׁve/ET-ha/ESHand the fireהַגְּדֹלָהhag/ge/do/LAgreatהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisלֹא־אֶרְאֶהlo-er/Elet me not seeעוֹדodany moreוְלֹאve/LOthat notאָמוּת׃a/MUTI die

    According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.

17. 17

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֵלָיe/LAYto meהֵיטִיבוּhe/TI/vuthey have well spokenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhatדִּבֵּרוּ׃dib/BE/ruthey have spoken

    And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken.

18. 18

    נָבִיאna/VIa prophetאָקִיםa/KIMI will raise upלָהֶםla/HEMfor themמִקֶּרֶבmik/KE/revfrom amongאֲחֵיהֶםa/che/HEMtheir brethrenכָּמוֹךָka/MO/khalike youוְנָתַתִּיve/na/tat/TIand I will putדְבָרַיde/va/RAYmy wordsבְּפִיוbe/FIVin his mouthוְדִבֶּרve/dib/BERand he shall speakאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרet-kol-a/SHERall thatאֲצַוֶּנּוּ׃a/tsav/VEN/nuI command him

    I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

19. 19

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹא־יִשְׁמַעlo-yish/MAwill not hearkenאֶל־דְּבָרַיel-de/va/RAYto my wordsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichיְדַבֵּרye/dab/BERhe shall speakבִּשְׁמִיbish/MIin my nameאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIאֶדְרֹשׁed/ROSHwill require itמֵעִמּוֹ׃me/im/MOof him

    And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

20. 20

    אַךְakhbutהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoיָזִידya/ZIDpresumesלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERto speakדָּבָרda/VARa wordבִּשְׁמִיbish/MIin my nameאֵת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhichלֹא־צִוִּיתִיוlo-tsiv/vi/TIVI have not commanded himלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERto speakוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERor whoיְדַבֵּרye/dab/BERspeaksבְּשֵׁםbe/SHEMin the name ofאֱלֹהִים־אֲחֵרִיםe/lo/HIM-a/che/RIMother godsוּמֵתu/METand shall dieהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetהַהוּא׃ha/HUthat

    But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.

21. 21

    וְכִיve/KHIand ifתֹאמַרto/MARyou sayבִּלְבָבֶךָbil/va/VE/khain your heartאֵיכָהe/KHAhowנֵדַעne/DAshall we knowאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe wordאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלֹא־דִבְּרוֹlo-dib/be/ROhas not spokenיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?

22. 22

    אֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhenיְדַבֵּרye/dab/BERspeaksהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetבְּשֵׁםbe/SHEMin the name ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְלֹא־יִהְיֶהve/LO-yih/YEand does not happenהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe thingוְלֹאve/LOnorיָבֹאya/VOcome to passהוּאhuthat isהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe thingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלֹא־דִבְּרוֹlo-dib/be/ROhas not spokenיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבְּזָדוֹןbe/za/DONpresumptuouslyדִּבְּרוֹdib/be/ROhas spoken itהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetלֹאlonotתָגוּרta/GURshall you be afraidמִמֶּנּוּ׃mim/MEN/nuof him

    When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.
