   These be the words which Moses spake unto all Israel on this side Jordan in the wilderness, in the plain over against the Red sea, between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Dizahab.

   (There are eleven days' journey from Horeb by the way of mount Seir unto Kadesh-barnea.)

   And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spake unto the children of Israel, according unto all that the LORD had given him in commandment unto them;

   After he had slain Sihon the king of the Amorites, which dwelt in Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, which dwelt at Astaroth in Edrei:

   On this side Jordan, in the land of Moab, began Moses to declare this law, saying,

   יְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵינוּe/lo/HE/nuour Godדִּבֶּרdib/BERspokeאֵלֵינוּe/LE/nuto usבְּחֹרֵבbe/Cho/REVat Horebלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingרַב־לָכֶםrav-la/KHEMlong enough you haveשֶׁבֶתSHE/vetdweltבָּהָרba/HARin the mountainהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

   The LORD our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:

   פְּנוּpe/NUturnוּסְעוּu/se/Uand set outלָכֶםla/KHEMyouוּבֹאוּu/VO/uand go toהַרharthe hill country ofהָאֱמֹרִיha/E/mo/RIthe Amoritesוְאֶל־כׇּל־שְׁכֵנָיוve/EL-kol-she/khe/NAYVand to all its neighborsבָּעֲרָבָהba/A/ra/VAin the Arabahבָהָרva/HARin the hill countryוּבַשְּׁפֵלָהu/Vash/she/fe/LAand in the Shephelahוּבַנֶּגֶבu/Van/NE/gevand in the Negevוּבְחוֹףu/ve/CHOFand by the coast ofהַיָּםhay/YAMthe seaאֶרֶץE/retsthe land ofהַכְּנַעֲנִיhak/Ke/na/a/NIthe Canaaniteוְהַלְּבָנוֹןve/hal/Le/va/NONand Lebanonעַד־הַנָּהָרad-han/na/HARas far as the riverהַגָּדֹלhag/ga/DOLgreatנְהַר־פְּרָת׃ne/HAR-Pe/RATthe river Euphrates

   Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.

   Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.

   וָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidאֲלֵכֶםa/le/KHEMto youבָּעֵתba/ETat the timeהַהִואha/HIVthatלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingלֹא־אוּכַלlo-u/KHALI am not ableלְבַדִּיle/vad/DIaloneשְׂאֵתse/ETto bearאֶתְכֶם׃et/KHEMyou

   And I spake unto you at that time, saying, I am not able to bear you myself alone:

10. 10

    יְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour Godהִרְבָּהhir/BAhas multipliedאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouוְהִנְּכֶםve/hin/ne/KHEMand behold you areהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthis dayכְּכוֹכְבֵיke/khokh/VElike the stars ofהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensלָרֹב׃la/ROVfor multitude

    The LORD your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.

    יְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofאֲבוֹתֵכֶםa/vo/te/KHEMyour fathersיֹסֵףyo/SEFaddעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youכָּכֶםka/KHEMas many as youאֶלֶףE/lefa thousandפְּעָמִיםpe/a/MIMtimesוִיבָרֵךְvi/va/REKHand blessאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasדִּבֶּרdib/BERHe has spokenלָכֶם׃la/KHEMto you

    (The LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as he hath promised you!)

12. 12

    אֵיכָהe/KHAhowאֶשָּׂאes/SAcan I bearלְבַדִּיle/vad/DIaloneטׇרְחֲכֶםtor/cha/KHEMyour loadוּמַשַּׂאֲכֶםu/mas/sa/a/KHEMand your burdenוְרִיבְכֶם׃ve/ri/ve/KHEMand your strife

    How can I myself alone bear your cumbrance, and your burden, and your strife?

13. 13

    הָבוּha/VUtakeלָכֶםla/KHEMyouאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenחֲכָמִיםcha/kha/MIMwiseוּנְבֹנִיםu/ne/vo/NIMand discerningוִידֻעִיםvi/du/IMand knownלְשִׁבְטֵיכֶםle/shiv/te/KHEMamong your tribesוַאֲשִׂימֵםva/a/si/MEMand I will make themבְּרָאשֵׁיכֶם׃be/ra/she/KHEMheads over you

    Take you wise men, and understanding, and known among your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you.

14. 14

    וַתַּעֲנוּvat/ta/a/NUand you answeredאֹתִיo/TImeוַתֹּאמְרוּvat/to/me/RUand you saidטוֹב־הַדָּבָרtov-had/da/VARthe thing is goodאֲשֶׁר־דִּבַּרְתָּa/SHER-dib/BAR/tawhich you have spokenלַעֲשׂוֹת׃la/a/SOTfor us to do

    And ye answered me, and said, The thing which thou hast spoken is good for us to do.

15. 15

    וָאֶקַּחva/ek/KACHand I tookאֶת־רָאשֵׁיet-ra/SHEthe heads ofשִׁבְטֵיכֶםshiv/te/KHEMyour tribesאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenחֲכָמִיםcha/kha/MIMwiseוִידֻעִיםvi/du/IMand knownוָאֶתֵּןva/et/TENand madeאוֹתָםo/TAMthemרָאשִׁיםra/SHIMheadsעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMover youשָׂרֵיsa/REcaptains ofאֲלָפִיםa/la/FIMthousandsוְשָׂרֵיve/sa/REand captains ofמֵאוֹתme/OThundredsוְשָׂרֵיve/sa/REand captains ofחֲמִשִּׁיםcha/mish/SHIMfiftyוְשָׂרֵיve/sa/REand captains ofעֲשָׂרֹתa/sa/ROTtensוְשֹׁטְרִיםve/shot/RIMand officersלְשִׁבְטֵיכֶם׃le/shiv/te/KHEMamong your tribes

    So I took the chief of your tribes, wise men, and known, and made them heads over you, captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, and captains over fifties, and captains over tens, and officers among your tribes.

16. 16

    וָאֲצַוֶּהva/a/tsav/VEand I chargedאֶת־שֹׁפְטֵיכֶםet-shof/te/KHEMyour judgesבָּעֵתba/ETat the timeהַהִואha/HIVthatלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingשָׁמֹעַsha/MO/ahearבֵּין־אֲחֵיכֶםben-a/che/KHEMbetween your brethrenוּשְׁפַטְתֶּםu/she/fat/TEMand judgeצֶדֶקTSE/dekrighteouslyבֵּין־אִישׁben-ishbetween a manוּבֵין־אָחִיוu/VEN-a/CHIVand his brotherוּבֵיןu/VENand betweenגֵּרוֹ׃ge/ROhis stranger

    And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him.

17. 17

    לֹא־תַכִּירוּlo-tak/KI/ruyou shall not respectפָנִיםfa/NIMpersonsבַּמִּשְׁפָּטbam/mish/PATin the judgmentכַּקָּטֹןkak/ka/TONthe smallכַּגָּדֹלkag/ga/DOLas the greatתִּשְׁמָעוּןtish/ma/UNyou shall hearלֹאlonotתָגוּרוּta/GU/rushall you be afraidמִפְּנֵי־אִישׁmip/pe/NE-ishof the face of manכִּיkiforהַמִּשְׁפָּטham/mish/PATthe judgmentלֵאלֹהִיםle/lo/HIMis God'sהוּאhuitוְהַדָּבָרve/had/da/VARand the matterאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיִקְשֶׁהyik/SHEis too hardמִכֶּםmik/KEMfor youתַּקְרִבוּןtak/ri/VUNbringאֵלַיe/LAYto meוּשְׁמַעְתִּיו׃u/she/ma/TIVand I will hear it

    Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God's: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it.

18. 18

    וָאֲצַוֶּהva/a/tsav/VEand I commandedאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouבָּעֵתba/ETat the timeהַהִואha/HIVthatאֵת־כׇּל־הַדְּבָרִיםet-kol-had/de/va/RIMall the wordsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichתַּעֲשׂוּן׃ta/a/SUNyou should do

    And I commanded you at that time all the things which ye should do.

19. 19

    וַנִּסַּעvan/nis/SAand we set outמֵחֹרֵבme/Cho/REVfrom Horebוַנֵּלֶךְvan/NE/lekhand went throughאֵת־כׇּל־הַמִּדְבָּרet-kol-ham/mid/BARall the wildernessהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLgreatוְהַנּוֹרָאve/han/no/RAand terribleהַהוּאha/HUthatאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichרְאִיתֶםre/i/TEMyou sawדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhby the way ofהַרharthe hill country ofהָאֱמֹרִיha/E/mo/RIthe Amoritesכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasצִוָּהtsiv/VAcommandedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵינוּe/lo/HE/nuour Godאֹתָנוּo/TA/nuusוַנָּבֹאvan/na/VOand we cameעַדadtoקָדֵשׁKa/DESHKadesh-בַּרְנֵעַ׃bar/NE/abarnea

    And when we departed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we came to Kadesh-barnea.

20. 20

    וָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidאֲלֵכֶםa/le/KHEMto youבָּאתֶםba/TEMyou have comeעַד־הַרad-harto the hill country ofהָאֱמֹרִיha/E/mo/RIthe Amoritesאֲשֶׁר־יְהֹוָהa/SHER-Adonaiwhich the LORDאֱלֹהֵינוּe/lo/HE/nuour Godנֹתֵןno/TENis givingלָנוּ׃LA/nuto us

    And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the mountain of the Amorites, which the LORD our God doth give unto us.

21. 21

    רְאֵהre/Eseeנָתַןna/TANhas setיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godלְפָנֶיךָle/fa/NE/khabefore youאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe landעֲלֵהa/LEgo upרֵשׁreshpossessכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasדִּבֶּרdib/BERspokeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofאֲבֹתֶיךָa/vo/TE/khayour fathersלָךְlakhyouאַל־תִּירָאal-ti/RAbe not afraidוְאַל־תֵּחָת׃ve/AL-te/CHATnor be dismayed

    Behold, the LORD thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.

22. 22

    וַתִּקְרְבוּןvat/tik/re/VUNand you came nearאֵלַיe/LAYto meכֻּלְּכֶםkul/le/KHEMevery one of youוַתֹּאמְרוּvat/to/me/RUand you saidנִשְׁלְחָהnish/le/CHAlet us sendאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenלְפָנֵינוּle/fa/NE/nubefore usוְיַחְפְּרוּ־לָנוּve/yach/pe/RU-LA/nuand they shall search out for usאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe landוְיָשִׁבוּve/ya/SHI/vuand bring backאֹתָנוּo/TA/nuusדָּבָרda/VARwordאֶת־הַדֶּרֶךְet-had/DE/rekhthe wayאֲשֶׁרa/SHERby whichנַעֲלֶה־בָּהּna/a/LE-bawe must go upוְאֵתve/ETandהֶעָרִיםhe/a/RIMthe citiesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERto whichנָבֹאna/VOwe shall comeאֲלֵיהֶן׃a/le/HENto them

    And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come.

23. 23

    וַיִּיטַבvay/yi/TAVand it was goodבְּעֵינַיbe/e/NAYin my eyesהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe thingוָאֶקַּחva/ek/KACHand I tookמִכֶּםmik/KEMof youשְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרshe/NEM-a/SARtwelveאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenאִישׁisha manאֶחָדe/CHADoneלַשָּׁבֶט׃lash/SHA/vetfor each tribe

    And the saying pleased me well: and I took twelve men of you, one of a tribe:

24. 24

    וַיִּפְנוּvay/yif/NUand they turnedוַיַּעֲלוּvay/ya/a/LUand went upהָהָרָהha/HA/rainto the hill countryוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameעַד־נַחַלad-NA/chalto the valley ofאֶשְׁכֹּלEsh/KOLEshcolוַיְרַגְּלוּvay/rag/ge/LUand spied outאֹתָהּ׃o/TAit

    And they turned and went up into the mountain, and came unto the valley of Eshcol, and searched it out.

25. 25

    וַיִּקְחוּvay/yik/CHUand they tookבְיָדָםve/ya/DAMin their handמִפְּרִיmip/pe/RIof the fruit ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landוַיּוֹרִדוּvay/yo/RI/duand they brought downאֵלֵינוּe/LE/nuto usוַיָּשִׁבוּvay/ya/SHI/vuand they brought backאֹתָנוּo/TA/nuusדָבָרda/VARwordוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidטוֹבָהto/VAis goodהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landאֲשֶׁר־יְהֹוָהa/SHER-Adonaiwhich the LORDאֱלֹהֵינוּe/lo/HE/nuour Godנֹתֵןno/TENis givingלָנוּ׃LA/nuto us

    And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down unto us, and brought us word again, and said, It is a good land which the LORD our God doth give us.

26. 26

    וְלֹאve/LOand notאֲבִיתֶםa/vi/TEMyou wouldלַעֲלֹתla/a/LOTto go upוַתַּמְרוּvat/tam/RUbut rebelled againstאֶת־פִּיet-pithe commandment ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶם׃e/lo/he/KHEMyour God

    Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God:

27. 27

    וַתֵּרָגְנוּvat/te/ra/ge/NUand you murmuredבְאׇהֳלֵיכֶםve/o/ho/le/KHEMin your tentsוַתֹּאמְרוּvat/to/me/RUand you saidבְּשִׂנְאַתbe/sin/ATbecause hatedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֹתָנוּo/TA/nuusהוֹצִיאָנוּho/tsi/A/nuHe has brought usמֵאֶרֶץme/E/retsout of the land ofמִצְרָיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptלָתֵתla/TETto deliverאֹתָנוּo/TA/nuusבְּיַדbe/YADinto the hand ofהָאֱמֹרִיha/E/mo/RIthe Amoritesלְהַשְׁמִידֵנוּ׃le/hash/mi/DE/nuto destroy us

    And ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because the LORD hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.

28. 28

    אָנָהA/nawhereאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuweעֹלִיםo/LIMare going upאַחֵינוּa/CHE/nuour brethrenהֵמַסּוּhe/MAS/suthey have made meltאֶת־לְבָבֵנוּet-le/va/VE/nuour heartsלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingעַםamthe people areגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatוָרָםva/RAMand tallerמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nuthan weעָרִיםa/RIMcitiesגְּדֹלֹתge/do/LOTgreatוּבְצוּרֹתu/ve/tsu/ROTand walled upבַּשָּׁמָיִםbash/sha/MA/yimto heavenוְגַם־בְּנֵיve/GAM-be/NEand also the sons ofעֲנָקִיםA/na/KIMthe Anakimרָאִינוּra/I/nuwe sawשָׁם׃shamthere

    Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.

29. 29

    וָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidאֲלֵכֶםa/le/KHEMto youלֹא־תַעַרְצוּןlo-ta/ar/TSUNdo not dreadוְלֹא־תִירְאוּןve/LO-ti/re/UNnor be afraidמֵהֶם׃me/HEMof them

    Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them.

30. 30

    יְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour Godהַהֹלֵךְha/ho/LEKHwho goesלִפְנֵיכֶםlif/ne/KHEMbefore youהוּאhuHeיִלָּחֵםyil/la/CHEMshall fightלָכֶםla/KHEMfor youכְּכֹלke/KHOLaccording to allאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעָשָׂהa/SAHe didאִתְּכֶםit/te/KHEMfor youבְּמִצְרַיִםbe/Mits/RA/yimin Egyptלְעֵינֵיכֶם׃le/e/ne/KHEMbefore your eyes

    The LORD your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;

    וּבַמִּדְבָּרu/vam/mid/BARand in the wildernessאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereרָאִיתָra/I/tayou sawאֲשֶׁרa/SHERhowנְשָׂאֲךָne/sa/a/KHAcarried youיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasיִשָּׂא־אִישׁyis/SA-isha man carriesאֶת־בְּנוֹet-be/NOhis sonבְּכׇל־הַדֶּרֶךְbe/KHOL-had/DE/rekhin all the wayאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהֲלַכְתֶּםha/lakh/TEMyou wentעַד־בֹּאֲכֶםad-bo/a/KHEMuntil you cameעַד־הַמָּקוֹםad-ham/ma/KOMto placeהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the LORD thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.

32. 32

    וּבַדָּבָרu/vad/da/VARyet in thingהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֵינְכֶםe/ne/KHEMyou did notמַאֲמִינִםma/a/mi/NIMbelieveבַּיהֹוָהba-Adonaiin the LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶם׃e/lo/he/KHEMyour God

    Yet in this thing ye did not believe the LORD your God,

33. 33

    הַהֹלֵךְha/ho/LEKHwho wentלִפְנֵיכֶםlif/ne/KHEMbefore youבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhin the wayלָתוּרla/TURto search outלָכֶםla/KHEMfor youמָקוֹםma/KOMa placeלַחֲנֹתְכֶםla/cha/not/KHEMto pitch your tentsבָּאֵשׁba/ESHin fireלַיְלָהLAY/laby nightלַרְאֹתְכֶםlar/ot/KHEMto show youבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhin the wayאֲשֶׁרa/SHERby whichתֵּלְכוּ־בָהּtel/KHU-vayou should goוּבֶעָנָןu/ve/a/NANand in the cloudיוֹמָם׃yo/MAMby day

    Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.

34. 34

    וַיִּשְׁמַעvay/yish/MAand heardיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־קוֹלet-kolthe voice ofדִּבְרֵיכֶםdiv/re/KHEMyour wordsוַיִּקְצֹףvay/yik/TSOFand was angryוַיִּשָּׁבַעvay/yish/sha/VAand sworeלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    And the LORD heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and sware, saying,

35. 35

    אִם־יִרְאֶהim-yir/Esurely shall not seeאִישׁisha manבָּאֲנָשִׁיםba/a/na/SHIMof menהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseהַדּוֹרhad/DORthe generationהָרָעha/RAevilהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֵת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe landהַטּוֹבָהhat/to/VAgoodאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנִשְׁבַּעְתִּיnish/BA/tiI sworeלָתֵתla/TETto giveלַאֲבֹתֵיכֶם׃la/a/vo/te/KHEMto your fathers

    Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers,

36. 36

    זוּלָתִיzu/la/TIexceptכָּלֵבKa/LEVCalebבֶּן־יְפֻנֶּהben-Ye/fun/NEson of Jephunnehהוּאhuheיִרְאֶנָּהyir/EN/nashall see itוְלוֹ־אֶתֵּןve/LO-et/TENand to him I will giveאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe landאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichדָּרַךְ־בָּהּda/RAKH-bahe has trodden uponוּלְבָנָיוu/le/va/NAYVand to his sonsיַעַןYA/anbecauseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichמִלֵּאmil/LEhe has wholly followedאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the LORD.

37. 37

    גַּם־בִּיgam-bialso with meהִתְאַנַּףhit/an/NAFwas angryיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבִּגְלַלְכֶםbig/lal/KHEMbecause of youלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingגַּם־אַתָּהgam-at/TAalso youלֹא־תָבֹאlo-ta/VOshall not go inשָׁם׃shamthere

    Also the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not go in thither.

38. 38

    יְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaבִּן־נוּןbin-Nunson of Nunהָעֹמֵדha/o/MEDwho standsלְפָנֶיךָle/fa/NE/khabefore youהוּאhuheיָבֹאya/VOshall go inשָׁמָּהSHAM/mathereאֹתוֹo/TOhimחַזֵּקchaz/ZEKencourageכִּי־הוּאki-hufor heיַנְחִלֶנָּהyan/chi/LEN/nashall cause to inherit itאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃et-Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    But Joshua the son of Nun, which standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.

39. 39

    וְטַפְּכֶםve/tap/pe/KHEMand your little onesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomאֲמַרְתֶּםa/mar/TEMyou saidלָבַזla/VAZa preyיִהְיֶהyih/YEwould beוּבְנֵיכֶםu/ve/ne/KHEMand your sonsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹא־יָדְעוּlo-ya/de/Uhave no knowledgeהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthis dayטוֹבtovgoodוָרָעva/RAand evilהֵמָּהHEM/matheyיָבֹאוּya/VO/ushall go inשָׁמָּהSHAM/mathereוְלָהֶםve/la/HEMand to themאֶתְּנֶנָּהet/te/NEN/nashall I give itוְהֵםve/HEMand theyיִירָשׁוּהָ׃yi/ra/SHU/hashall possess it

    Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.

40. 40

    וְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMand youפְּנוּpe/NUturnלָכֶםla/KHEMyouוּסְעוּu/se/Uand set outהַמִּדְבָּרָהham/mid/BA/rainto the wildernessדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhthe way ofיַם־סוּף׃yam-Sufthe Red Sea

    But as for you, turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.

41. 41

    וַתַּעֲנוּvat/ta/a/NUand you answeredוַתֹּאמְרוּvat/to/me/RUand you saidאֵלַיe/LAYto meחָטָאנוּcha/TA/nuwe have sinnedלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaiagainst the LORDאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuweנַעֲלֶהna/a/LEwill go upוְנִלְחַמְנוּve/nil/CHAM/nuand fightכְּכֹלke/KHOLaccording to allאֲשֶׁר־צִוָּנוּa/SHER-tsiv/VA/nuthat commanded usיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵינוּe/lo/HE/nuour Godוַתַּחְגְּרוּvat/tach/ge/RUand you girded onאִישׁishevery manאֶת־כְּלֵיet-ke/LEweapons ofמִלְחַמְתּוֹmil/cham/TOhis warוַתָּהִינוּvat/ta/HI/nuand thought it easyלַעֲלֹתla/a/LOTto go upהָהָרָה׃ha/HA/rainto the hill country

    Then ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the LORD, we will go up and fight, according to all that the LORD our God commanded us. And when ye had girded on every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill.

42. 42

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֵלַיe/LAYto meאֱמֹרe/MORsayלָהֶםla/HEMto themלֹאlonotתַעֲלוּta/a/LUgo upוְלֹא־תִלָּחֲמוּve/LO-til/la/cha/MUnor fightכִּיkiforאֵינֶנִּיe/NEN/niI am notבְּקִרְבְּכֶםbe/kir/be/KHEMamong youוְלֹאve/LOand notתִּנָּגְפוּtin/na/ge/FUyou be struck downלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאֹיְבֵיכֶם׃oy/ve/KHEMyour enemies

    And the LORD said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies.

43. 43

    וָאֲדַבֵּרva/a/dab/BERand I spokeאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youוְלֹאve/LOand notשְׁמַעְתֶּםshe/ma/TEMyou would hearוַתַּמְרוּvat/tam/RUbut rebelled againstאֶת־פִּיet-pithe commandment ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַתָּזִדוּvat/ta/ZI/duand acted presumptuouslyוַתַּעֲלוּvat/ta/a/LUand you went upהָהָרָה׃ha/HA/rainto the hill country

    So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and went presumptuously up into the hill.

44. 44

    וַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outהָאֱמֹרִיha/E/mo/RIthe Amoriteהַיֹּשֵׁבhay/yo/SHEVwho dweltבָּהָרba/HARin the hill countryהַהוּאha/HUthatלִקְרַאתְכֶםlik/ra/te/KHEMto meet youוַיִּרְדְּפוּvay/yir/de/FUand pursuedאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasתַּעֲשֶׂינָהta/a/SE/nadoהַדְּבֹרִיםhad/de/vo/RIMthe beesוַיַּכְּתוּvay/yak/ke/TUand beat downאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouבְּשֵׂעִירbe/Se/IRin Seirעַד־חׇרְמָה׃ad-Chor/MAas far as Hormah

    And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah.

45. 45

    וַתָּשֻׁבוּvat/ta/SHU/vuand you returnedוַתִּבְכּוּvat/tiv/KUand weptלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְלֹא־שָׁמַעve/LO-sha/MAbut would not hearkenיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבְּקֹלְכֶםbe/kol/KHEMto your voiceוְלֹאve/LOand notהֶאֱזִיןhe/e/ZINhe gave earאֲלֵיכֶם׃a/le/KHEMto you

    And ye returned and wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.

46. 46

    וַתֵּשְׁבוּvat/tesh/VUso you abodeבְקָדֵשׁve/Ka/DESHin Kadeshיָמִיםya/MIMdaysרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyכַּיָּמִיםkay/ya/MIMaccording to the daysאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיְשַׁבְתֶּם׃ye/shav/TEMyou abode

    So ye abode in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye abode there.
