   In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters.

   Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.

   And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.

   The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it.

   And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.

   After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.

   After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.

   I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

   I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.

    A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.

    I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.

    וּשְׁאָרu/she/ARand the rest ofחֵיוָתָאche/va/TAthe beastsהֶעְדִּיוhe/DIVthey took awayשׇׁלְטָנְהוֹןshol/ta/ne/HONtheir dominionוְאַרְכָהve/ar/KHAand a lengtheningבְחַיִּיןve/chay/YINof lifeיְהִיבַתye/HI/vatwas givenלְהוֹןle/HONto themעַד־זְמַןad-ze/MANfor a seasonוְעִדָּן׃ve/id/DANand a time

    As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.

    חָזֵהcha/ZEseeingהֲוֵיתha/VETI wasבְּחֶזְוֵיbe/chez/VEin the visions ofלֵילְיָאle/le/YAthe nightוַאֲרוּva/a/RUand beholdעִם־עֲנָנֵיim-a/na/NEwith the clouds ofשְׁמַיָּאshe/may/YAheavenכְּבַרke/VARone like a son ofאֱנָשׁe/NASHmanאָתֵהa/TEcomingהֲוָאha/VAwasוְעַד־עַתִּיקve/AD-at/TIKand to the Ancient ofיוֹמַיָּאyo/may/YAdaysמְטָהme/TAhe cameוּקְדָמוֹהִיu/ke/da/MO/hiand before Himהַקְרְבוּהִי׃hak/re/VU/hithey brought him near

    I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.

14. 14

    וְלֵהּve/LEand to himיְהִבye/HIVwas givenשׇׁלְטָןshol/TANis a dominion ofוִיקָרvi/KARand honorוּמַלְכוּu/mal/KHUand a kingdomוְכֹלve/KHOLand allעַמְמַיָּאam/may/YAthe peoplesאֻמַּיָּאum/may/YAthe nationsוְלִשָּׁנַיָּאve/lish/sha/nay/YAand languagesלֵהּlehimיִפְלְחוּןyif/le/CHUNwill serveשׇׁלְטָנֵהּshol/ta/NEhis dominionשׇׁלְטָןshol/TANdominionעָלַםa/LAMeternityדִּי־לָאdi-lathat will notיֶעְדֵּהye/DEit will pass awayוּמַלְכוּתֵהּu/mal/khu/TEand his kingdomדִּי־לָאdi-lathat will notתִתְחַבַּל׃tit/chab/BALbe destroyed

    And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

    אֶתְכְּרִיַּתet/ke/riy/YATwas grievedרוּחִיru/CHImy spiritאֲנָהa/NAIדָנִיֵּאלDa/niy/YELDanielבְּגוֹאbe/GOwithinנִדְנֶהnid/NEthe sheathוְחֶזְוֵיve/chez/VEand the visions ofרֵאשִׁיre/SHImy headיְבַהֲלֻנַּנִי׃ye/va/ha/lun/NA/niterrified me

    I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.

16. 16

    קִרְבֵתkir/VETI came nearעַל־חַדal-chadto oneמִן־קָאֲמַיָּאmin-ka/a/may/YAof those who stood byוְיַצִּיבָאve/yats/tsi/VAand the truthאֶבְעֵא־מִנֵּהּev/E-min/NEI asked of himעַל־כׇּל־דְּנָהal-kol-de/NAconcerning all thisוַאֲמַר־לִיva/a/MAR-liand he told meוּפְשַׁרu/fe/SHARand the interpretation ofמִלַּיָּאmil/lay/YAthe thingsיְהוֹדְעִנַּנִי׃ye/hod/in/NA/nihe made known to me

    I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.

17. 17

    אִלֵּיןil/LENtheseחֵיוָתָאche/va/TAthe beastsרַבְרְבָתָאrav/re/va/TAgreatדִּיdiwhichאִנִּיןin/NINareאַרְבַּעar/BAfourאַרְבְּעָהar/be/Afourמַלְכִיןmal/KHINkingsיְקוּמוּןye/ku/MUNwill ariseמִן־אַרְעָא׃min-ar/Afrom the earth

    These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.

18. 18

    וִיקַבְּלוּןvi/kab/be/LUNbut will receiveמַלְכוּתָאmal/khu/TAthe kingdomקַדִּישֵׁיkad/di/SHEthe holy ones ofעֶלְיוֹנִיןEl/yo/NINthe Most Highוְיַחְסְנוּןve/yach/se/NUNand possessמַלְכוּתָאmal/khu/TAthe kingdomעַד־עָלְמָאad-a/le/MAforeverוְעַדve/ADand toעָלַםa/LAMthe age ofעָלְמַיָּא׃a/le/may/YAages

    But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.

19. 19

    אֱדַיִןe/DA/yinthenצְבִיתtse/VITI wantedלְיַצָּבָאle/yats/tsa/VAto know the truthעַל־חֵיוְתָאal-che/ve/TAabout the beastרְבִיעָיְתָאre/vi/a/ye/TAfourthדִּי־הֲוָתdi-ha/VATthat wasשָׁנְיָהsha/ne/YAdifferentמִן־[כׇּלְּהֵין]min-kol/le/HENfrom them allדְּחִילָהde/chi/LAfearsomeיַתִּירָהyat/ti/RAexceedingly(שניה)shanayah[שִׁנַּהּ]shin/NAits teethדִּי־פַרְזֶלdi-far/ZELof iron(וטפריה)vatafarayah[וְטִפְרַהּ]ve/tif/RAand its clawsדִּי־נְחָשׁdi-ne/CHASHof bronzeאָכְלָהa/khe/LAdevouredמַדְּקָהmad/de/KAcrushedוּשְׁאָרָאu/she/a/RAand the rest(ברגליה)varagalayah[בְּרַגְלַהּ]be/rag/LAwith its feetרָפְסָה׃ra/fe/SAtrampled

    Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;

    וְעַל־קַרְנַיָּאve/AL-kar/nay/YAand about the hornsעֲשַׂרa/SARtenדִּיdithat wereבְרֵאשַׁהּve/re/SHAon its headוְאׇחֳרִיve/o/cho/RIand the otherדִּיdithatסִלְקַתsil/KATcame up(ונפלו)vanafalav[וּנְפַלָה]u/ne/FA/laand fellמִן־[קֳדָמַהּ]min-ko/da/MAbefore it(קדמיה)kadamayahתְּלָתte/LATthreeוְקַרְנָאve/kar/NAand the hornדִכֵּןdik/KENthatוְעַיְנִיןve/ay/NINand eyesלַהּlait hadוּפֻםu/FUMand a mouthמְמַלִּלme/mal/LILspeakingרַבְרְבָןrav/re/VANgreat thingsוְחֶזְוַהּve/chez/VAand its lookרַבravgreaterמִן־חַבְרָתַהּ׃min-chav/ra/TAthan its fellows

    And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.

21. 21

    חָזֵהcha/ZEseeingהֲוֵיתha/VETI wasוְקַרְנָאve/kar/NAand the hornדִכֵּןdik/KENthatעָבְדָהa/ve/DAmadeקְרָבke/RAVwarעִם־קַדִּישִׁיןim-kad/di/SHINwith the holy onesוְיָכְלָהve/ya/khe/LAand prevailedלְהֹן׃le/HONagainst them

    I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;

22. 22

    עַדaduntilדִּי־אֲתָהdi-a/TAcameעַתִּיקAt/TIKthe Ancient ofיוֹמַיָּאyo/may/YAdaysוְדִינָאve/di/NAand judgmentיְהִבye/HIVwas givenלְקַדִּישֵׁיle/kad/di/SHEfor the holy ones ofעֶלְיוֹנִיןEl/yo/NINthe Most Highוְזִמְנָאve/zim/NAand the timeמְטָהme/TAcameוּמַלְכוּתָאu/mal/khu/TAand the kingdomהֶחֱסִנוּhe/che/SI/nupossessedקַדִּישִׁין׃kad/di/SHINthe holy ones

    Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.

23. 23

    כֵּןkenthusאֲמַרa/MARhe saidחֵיוְתָאche/ve/TAthe beastרְבִיעָיְתָאre/vi/a/ye/TAfourthמַלְכוּmal/KHUa kingdom(רביעיה)ravayyah[רְבִיעָאָה]re/vi/a/Afourthתֶּהֱוֵאte/he/VEwill beבְאַרְעָאve/ar/Aon the earthדִּיdithatתִשְׁנֵאtish/NEwill be differentמִן־כׇּל־מַלְכְוָתָאmin-kol-mal/khe/va/TAfrom all the kingdomsוְתֵאכֻלve/te/KHULand will devourכׇּל־אַרְעָאkol-ar/Aall the earthוּתְדוּשִׁנַּהּu/te/du/shin/NAand tread it downוְתַדְּקִנַּהּ׃ve/tad/de/kin/NAand crush it

    Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.

24. 24

    וְקַרְנַיָּאve/kar/nay/YAand the hornsעֲשַׂרa/SARtenמִנַּהּmin/NAout ofמַלְכוּתָאmal/khu/TAthis kingdomעַשְׂרָהas/RAtenמַלְכִיןmal/KHINkingsיְקֻמוּןye/ku/MUNwill ariseוְאׇחֳרָןve/o/cho/RANand anotherיְקוּםye/KUMwill ariseאַחֲרֵיהֹןa/cha/re/HONafter themוְהוּאve/HUand heיִשְׁנֵאyish/NEwill be differentמִן־קַדְמָיֵאmin-kad/ma/YEfrom the firstוּתְלָתָהu/te/la/TAand threeמַלְכִיןmal/KHINkingsיְהַשְׁפִּל׃ye/hash/PILhe will put down

    And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.

25. 25

    וּמִלִּיןu/mil/LINand wordsלְצַדle/TSADagainst(עליא)lay[עִלָּאָה]Il/la/Athe Most Highיְמַלִּלye/mal/LILhe will speakוּלְקַדִּישֵׁיu/le/kad/di/SHEand the holy ones ofעֶלְיוֹנִיןEl/yo/NINthe Most Highיְבַלֵּאye/val/LEhe will wear outוְיִסְבַּרve/yis/BARand he will thinkלְהַשְׁנָיָהle/hash/na/YAto changeזִמְנִיןzim/NINtimesוְדָתve/DATand lawוְיִתְיַהֲבוּןve/yit/ya/ha/VUNand they will be givenבִּידֵהּbi/DEinto his handעַד־עִדָּןad-id/DANfor a timeוְעִדָּנִיןve/id/da/NINand timesוּפְלַגu/fe/LAGand halfעִדָּן׃id/DANa time

    And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

26. 26

    וְדִינָאve/di/NAand judgmentיִתִּבyit/TIVwill sitוְשׇׁלְטָנֵהּve/shol/ta/NEand his dominionיְהַעְדּוֹןye/ha/DONthey will take awayלְהַשְׁמָדָהle/hash/ma/DAto annihilateוּלְהוֹבָדָהu/le/ho/va/DAand to destroyעַד־סוֹפָא׃ad-so/FAto the end

    But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.

    וּמַלְכוּתָאu/mal/khu/TAand the kingdomוְשׇׁלְטָנָאve/shol/ta/NAand the dominionוּרְבוּתָאu/re/vu/TAand the greatness ofדִּיditheמַלְכְוָתmal/khe/VATkingdomsתְּחוֹתte/CHOTunderכׇּל־שְׁמַיָּאkol-she/may/YAthe whole heavenיְהִיבַתye/HI/vatwill be givenלְעַםle/AMto the people ofקַדִּישֵׁיkad/di/SHEthe holy ones ofעֶלְיוֹנִיןEl/yo/NINthe Most Highמַלְכוּתֵהּmal/khu/TEHis kingdomמַלְכוּתmal/KHUTis a kingdom ofעָלַםa/LAMeternityוְכֹלve/KHOLand allשׇׁלְטָנַיָּאshol/ta/nay/YAthe dominionsלֵהּleHimיִפְלְחוּןyif/le/CHUNwill serveוְיִשְׁתַּמְּעוּן׃ve/yish/tam/me/UNand obey

    And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.

    עַד־כָּהad-kahere isסוֹפָאso/FAthe endדִי־מִלְּתָאdi-mil/le/TAof the matterאֲנָהa/NAIדָנִיֵּאלDa/niy/YELDanielשַׂגִּיאsag/GIgreatlyרַעְיוֹנַיra/yo/NAYmy thoughtsיְבַהֲלֻנַּנִיye/va/ha/lun/NA/niterrified meוְזִיוַיve/zi/VAYand my brightnessיִשְׁתַּנּוֹןyish/tan/NONwas changedעֲלַיa/LAYin meוּמִלְּתָאu/mil/le/TAbut the matterבְּלִבִּיbe/lib/BIin my heartנִטְרֵת׃nit/RETI kept

    Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.
