   And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him.

   Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.

   And the king said unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to know the dream.

   Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in Syriack, O king, live for ever: tell thy servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation.

   עָנֵהa/NEansweredמַלְכָּאmal/KAthe kingוְאָמַרve/a/MARand said[לְכַשְׂדָּאֵי]Le/khas/da/Eto the Chaldeansמִלְּתָהmil/le/TAthe wordמִנִּיmin/NIfrom meאַזְדָּאaz/DAis firmהֵןhenifלָאlanotתְהוֹדְעוּנַּנִיte/hod/un/NA/niyou make known to meחֶלְמָאchel/MAthe dreamוּפִשְׁרֵהּu/fish/REand its interpretationהַדָּמִיןhad/da/MINin piecesתִּתְעַבְדוּןtit/av/DUNyou will be madeוּבָתֵּיכוֹןu/vat/te/KHONand your housesנְוָלִיne/va/LIa dunghillיִתְּשָׂמוּן׃yit/te/sa/MUNwill be made

   The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.

   וְהֵןve/HENbut ifחֶלְמָאchel/MAthe dreamוּפִשְׁרֵהּu/fish/REand its interpretationתְּהַחֲוֺןte/ha/cha/VONyou declareמַתְּנָןmat/te/NANgiftsוּנְבִזְבָּהu/ne/viz/BAand a rewardוִיקָרvi/KARand honorשַׂגִּיאsag/GIgreatתְּקַבְּלוּןte/kab/be/LUNyou will receiveמִן־קֳדָמָיmin-ko/da/MAYfrom before meלָהֵןla/HENthereforeחֶלְמָאchel/MAthe dreamוּפִשְׁרֵהּu/fish/REand its interpretationהַחֲוֺנִי׃ha/cha/VO/nideclare to me

   But if ye shew the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour: therefore shew me the dream, and the interpretation thereof.

   They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation of it.

   עָנֵהa/NEansweredמַלְכָּאmal/KAthe kingוְאָמַרve/a/MARand saidמִן־יַצִּיבmin-yats/TSIVfor certainיָדַעya/DAknowאֲנָהa/NAIדִּיdithatעִדָּנָאid/da/NAtimeאַנְתּוּןan/TUNyouזָבְנִיןza/ve/NINare buyingכׇּל־קֳבֵלkol-ko/VELbecauseדִּיdithatחֲזֵיתוֹןcha/ze/TONyou have seenדִּיdithatאַזְדָּאaz/DAis firmמִנִּיmin/NIfrom meמִלְּתָא׃mil/le/TAthe word

   The king answered and said, I know of certainty that ye would gain the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me.

   דִּיdithatהֵן־חֶלְמָאhen-chel/MAif the dreamלָאlanotתְהוֹדְעֻנַּנִיte/hod/un/NA/niyou make known to meחֲדָה־הִיאcha/DA-hione isדָתְכוֹןda/te/KHONyour decreeוּמִלָּהu/mil/LAand a wordכִדְבָהkhid/VAlyingוּשְׁחִיתָהu/she/chi/TAand corrupt[הִזְדְּמִנְתּוּן]hiz/de/min/TUNyou have agreedלְמֵאמַרle/me/MARto speakקׇדָמַיko/da/MAYbefore meעַדaduntilדִּיdithatעִדָּנָאid/da/NAthe timeיִשְׁתַּנֵּאyish/tan/NEchangesלָהֵןla/HENthereforeחֶלְמָאchel/MAthe dreamאֱמַרוּe/MA/rutellלִיlimeוְאִנְדַּעve/in/DAand I will knowדִּיdithatפִשְׁרֵהּfish/REits interpretationתְּהַחֲוֻנַּנִי׃te/ha/cha/vun/NA/niyou can declare to me

   But if ye will not make known unto me the dream, there is but one decree for you: for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, till the time be changed: therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can shew me the interpretation thereof.

    The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king's matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean.

    וּמִלְּתָאu/mil/le/TAand the thingדִי־מַלְכָּהdi-mal/KAthat the kingשָׁאֵלsha/ELasksיַקִּירָהyak/ki/RAis difficultוְאׇחֳרָןve/o/cho/RANand anotherלָאlanotאִיתַיi/TAYthere isדִּיdiwhoיְחַוִּנַּהּye/chav/vin/NAcan declare itקֳדָםko/DAMbeforeמַלְכָּאmal/KAthe kingלָהֵןla/HENexceptאֱלָהִיןe/la/HINgodsדִּיdiwhoseמְדָרְהוֹןme/da/re/HONdwellingעִם־בִּשְׂרָאim-bis/RAwith fleshלָאlanotאִיתוֹהִי׃i/TO/hiis

    And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.

    כׇּל־קֳבֵלkol-ko/VELbecause ofדְּנָהde/NAthisמַלְכָּאmal/KAthe kingבְּנַסbe/NASwas angryוּקְצַףu/ke/TSAFand furiousשַׂגִּיאsag/GIveryוַאֲמַרva/a/MARand commandedלְהוֹבָדָהle/ho/va/DAto destroyלְכֹלle/KHOLallחַכִּימֵיchak/ki/MEthe wise men ofבָבֶל׃Va/VELBabylon

    For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.

13. 13

    וְדָתָאve/da/TAand the decreeנֶפְקַתnef/KATit went outוְחַכִּימַיָּאve/chak/ki/may/YAand the wise menמִתְקַטְּלִיןmit/kat/te/LINwere to be killedוּבְעוֹu/ve/Oand they soughtדָּנִיֵּאלDa/niy/YELDanielוְחַבְרוֹהִיve/chav/RO/hiand his companionsלְהִתְקְטָלָה׃le/hit/ke/ta/LAto be killed

    And the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain.

14. 14

    בֵּאדַיִןbe/DA/yinthenדָּנִיֵּאלDa/niy/YELDanielהֲתִיבha/TIVreturnedעֵטָאe/TAcounselוּטְעֵםu/te/EMand discretionלְאַרְיוֹךְle/Ar/YOKHto Ariochרַב־טַבָּחַיָּאrav-tab/ba/chay/YAthe captain of the guardדִּיdiofמַלְכָּאmal/KAthe kingדִּיdiwhoנְפַקne/FAKhad gone outלְקַטָּלָהle/kat/ta/LAto killלְחַכִּימֵיle/chak/ki/MEthe wise men ofבָּבֶל׃Ba/VELBabylon

    Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king's guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon:

    עָנֵהa/NEansweredוְאָמַרve/a/MARand saidלְאַרְיוֹךְle/Ar/YOKHto Ariochשַׁלִּיטָאshal/li/TAthe captainדִי־מַלְכָּאdi-mal/KAof the kingעַל־מָהal-mawhyדָתָאda/TAis the decreeמְהַחְצְפָהme/hach/tse/FAso urgentמִן־קֳדָםmin-ko/DAMfrom beforeמַלְכָּאmal/KAthe kingאֱדַיִןe/DA/yinthenמִלְּתָאmil/le/TAthe matterהוֹדַעho/DAmade knownאַרְיוֹךְAr/YOKHAriochלְדָנִיֵּאל׃le/Da/niy/YELto Daniel

    He answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.

16. 16

    וְדָנִיֵּאלve/Da/niy/YELand Danielעַלalwent inוּבְעָהu/ve/Aand he askedמִן־מַלְכָּאmin-mal/KAof the kingדִּיdithatזְמָןze/MANa timeיִנְתִּן־לֵהּyin/TIN-lehe would give himוּפִשְׁרָאu/fish/RAand the interpretationלְהַחֲוָיָהle/ha/cha/va/YAto declareלְמַלְכָּא׃le/mal/KAto the king

    Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the interpretation.

17. 17

    אֱדַיִןe/DA/yinthenדָּנִיֵּאלDa/niy/YELDanielלְבַיְתֵהּle/vay/TEto his houseאֲזַלa/ZALhe wentוְלַחֲנַנְיָהve/La/cha/nan/YAand to HananiahמִישָׁאֵלMi/sha/ELMishaelוַעֲזַרְיָהva/A/zar/YAand Azariahחַבְרוֹהִיchav/RO/hihis companionsמִלְּתָאmil/le/TAthe matterהוֹדַע׃ho/DAmade known

    Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions:

18. 18

    וְרַחֲמִיןve/ra/cha/MINand merciesלְמִבְעֵאle/miv/Eto seekמִן־קֳדָםmin-ko/DAMfrom beforeאֱלָהּe/LAthe God ofשְׁמַיָּאshe/may/YAheavenעַל־רָזָאal-ra/ZAconcerning the secretדְּנָהde/NAthisדִּיdiso thatלָאlanotיְהוֹבְדוּןye/hov/DUNthey should perishדָּנִיֵּאלDa/niy/YELDanielוְחַבְרוֹהִיve/chav/RO/hiand his companionsעִם־שְׁאָרim-she/ARwith the rest ofחַכִּימֵיchak/ki/MEthe wise men ofבָבֶל׃Va/VELBabylon

    That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

19. 19

    אֱדַיִןe/DA/yinthenלְדָנִיֵּאלle/Da/niy/YELto Danielבְּחֶזְוָאbe/chez/VAin the visionדִי־לֵילְיָאdi-le/le/YAof the nightרָזָאra/ZAthe secretגְלִיge/LIwas revealedאֱדַיִןe/DA/yinthenדָּנִיֵּאלDa/niy/YELDanielבָּרִךְba/RIKHblessedלֶאֱלָהּle/e/LAthe God ofשְׁמַיָּא׃she/may/YAheaven

    Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

    עָנֵהa/NEansweredדָנִיֵּאלDa/niy/YELDanielוְאָמַרve/a/MARand saidלֶהֱוֵאle/he/VElet beשְׁמֵהּshe/MEthe nameדִּי־אֱלָהָאdi-e/la/HAof Godמְבָרַךְme/va/RAKHblessedמִן־עָלְמָאmin-a/le/MAfrom eternityוְעַדve/ADand toעָלְמָאa/le/MAeternityדִּיdiforחׇכְמְתָאchokh/me/TAwisdomוּגְבוּרְתָאu/ge/vur/TAand mightדִּיdithatלֵהּ־הִיא׃le-hiare His

    Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:

21. 21

    וְהוּאve/HUand Heמְהַשְׁנֵאme/hash/NEchangesעִדָּנַיָּאid/da/nay/YAthe timesוְזִמְנַיָּאve/zim/nay/YAand the seasonsמְהַעְדֵּהme/ha/DEremovesמַלְכִיןmal/KHINkingsוּמְהָקֵיםu/me/ha/KEMand sets upמַלְכִיןmal/KHINkingsיָהֵבya/HEVgivesחׇכְמְתָאchokh/me/TAwisdomלְחַכִּימִיןle/chak/ki/MINto the wiseוּמַנְדְּעָאu/man/de/Aand knowledgeלְיָדְעֵיle/ya/de/Eto those who knowבִינָה׃vi/NAunderstanding

    And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

22. 22

    הוּאhuHeגָּלֵאga/LErevealsעַמִּיקָתָאam/mi/ka/TAthe deep thingsוּמְסַתְּרָתָאu/me/sat/te/ra/TAand hidden thingsיָדַעya/DAknowsמָהmawhatבַחֲשׁוֹכָאva/cha/sho/KHAis in the darkness[וּנְהוֹרָא]u/ne/ho/RAand the lightעִמֵּהּim/MEwith Himשְׁרֵא׃she/REdwells

    He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.

23. 23

    לָךְlakhto Youאֱלָהּe/LAO God ofאֲבָהָתִיa/va/ha/TImy fathersמְהוֹדֵאme/ho/DEgive thanksוּמְשַׁבַּחu/me/shab/BACHand praiseאֲנָהa/NAIדִּיdiwhoחׇכְמְתָאchokh/me/TAwisdomוּגְבוּרְתָאu/ge/vur/TAand mightיְהַבְתְּye/HAVThave givenלִיlito meוּכְעַןu/khe/ANand nowהוֹדַעְתַּנִיho/da/TA/niYou have made known to meדִּי־בְעֵינָאdi-ve/E/nawhat we askedמִנָּךְmin/NAKHof Youדִּי־מִלַּתdi-mil/LATfor the matter ofמַלְכָּאmal/KAthe kingהוֹדַעְתֶּנָא׃ho/da/TE/naYou have made known to us

    I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king's matter.

    כׇּל־קֳבֵלkol-ko/VELbecause ofדְּנָהde/NAthisדָּנִיֵּאלDa/niy/YELDanielעַלalwent inעַל־אַרְיוֹךְal-Ar/YOKHto Ariochדִּיdiwhomמַנִּיman/NIhad appointedמַלְכָּאmal/KAthe kingלְהוֹבָדָהle/ho/va/DAto destroyלְחַכִּימֵיle/chak/ki/MEthe wise men ofבָבֶלVa/VELBabylonאֲזַלa/ZALhe wentוְכֵןve/KHENand thusאֲמַר־לֵהּa/MAR-lesaid to himלְחַכִּימֵיle/chak/ki/MEthe wise men ofבָבֶלVa/VELBabylonאַל־תְּהוֹבֵדal-te/ho/VEDdo not destroyהַעֵלְנִיha/EL/nibring me inקֳדָםko/DAMbeforeמַלְכָּאmal/KAthe kingוּפִשְׁרָאu/fish/RAand the interpretationלְמַלְכָּאle/mal/KAto the kingאֲחַוֵּא׃a/chav/VEI will declare

    Therefore Daniel went in unto Arioch, whom the king had ordained to destroy the wise men of Babylon: he went and said thus unto him; Destroy not the wise men of Babylon: bring me in before the king, and I will shew unto the king the interpretation.

    Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste, and said thus unto him, I have found a man of the captives of Judah, that will make known unto the king the interpretation.

    עָנֵהa/NEansweredמַלְכָּאmal/KAthe kingוְאָמַרve/a/MARand saidלְדָנִיֵּאלle/Da/niy/YELto Danielדִּיdiwhoseשְׁמֵהּshe/MEname wasבֵּלְטְשַׁאצַּרBel/te/sha/TSARBelteshazzar[הַאִיתָךְ]ha/i/TAKHare youכָּהֵלka/HELableלְהוֹדָעֻתַנִיle/ho/da/u/TA/nito make known to meחֶלְמָאchel/MAthe dreamדִי־חֲזֵיתdi-cha/ZETthat I sawוּפִשְׁרֵהּ׃u/fish/REand its interpretation

    The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof?

    עָנֵהa/NEansweredדָנִיֵּאלDa/niy/YELDanielקֳדָםko/DAMbeforeמַלְכָּאmal/KAthe kingוְאָמַרve/a/MARand saidרָזָאra/ZAthe secretדִּי־מַלְכָּאdi-mal/KAthat the kingשָׁאֵלsha/ELasksלָאlanotחַכִּימִיןchak/ki/MINwise menאָשְׁפִיןa/she/FINconjurersחַרְטֻמִּיןchar/tum/MINmagiciansגָּזְרִיןga/ze/RINdivinersיָכְלִיןya/khe/LINcanלְהַחֲוָיָהle/ha/cha/va/YAdeclareלְמַלְכָּא׃le/mal/KAto the king

    Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king;

    בְּרַםbe/RAMbutאִיתַיi/TAYthere isאֱלָהּe/LAa Godבִּשְׁמַיָּאbish/may/YAin heavenגָּלֵאga/LEwho revealsרָזִיןra/ZINsecretsוְהוֹדַעve/ho/DAand He has made knownלְמַלְכָּאle/mal/KAto the kingנְבוּכַדְנֶצַּרNe/vu/khad/nets/TSARNebuchadnezzarמָהmawhatדִּיdiis toלֶהֱוֵאle/he/VEbeבְּאַחֲרִיתbe/a/cha/RITin the end ofיוֹמַיָּאyo/may/YAthe daysחֶלְמָךְchel/MAKHyour dreamוְחֶזְוֵיve/chez/VEand the visions ofרֵאשָׁךְre/SHAKHyour headעַל־מִשְׁכְּבָךְal-mish/ke/VAKHon your bedדְּנָהde/NAthisהוּא׃huis

    But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;

    As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass.

30. 30

    וַאֲנָהva/a/NAand Iלָאlanotבְחׇכְמָהve/chokh/MAby wisdomדִּי־אִיתַיdi-i/TAYthat isבִּיbiin meמִן־כׇּל־חַיַּיָּאmin-kol-chay/yay/YAmore than all the livingרָזָאra/ZAthe secretדְנָהde/NAthisגֱּלִיge/LIhas been revealedלִיlito meלָהֵןla/HENbutעַל־דִּבְרַתal-div/RATfor the sakeדִּיdithatפִשְׁרָאfish/RAthe interpretationלְמַלְכָּאle/mal/KAto the kingיְהוֹדְעוּןye/hod/UNthey may make knownוְרַעְיוֹנֵיve/ra/yo/NEand the thoughts ofלִבְבָךְliv/VAKHyour heartתִּנְדַּע׃tin/DAyou may know

    But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart.

31. 31

    (אנתה)natah[אַנְתְּ]antyouמַלְכָּאmal/KAO kingחָזֵהcha/ZEseeingהֲוַיְתָha/VAY/tayou wereוַאֲלוּva/a/LUand beholdצְלֵםtse/LEMan imageחַדchadoneשַׂגִּיאsag/GIgreatצַלְמָאtsal/MAthe imageדִכֵּןdik/KENthisרַבravgreatוְזִיוֵהּve/zi/VEand its brightnessיַתִּירyat/TIRextraordinaryקָאֵםka/EMstoodלְקׇבְלָךְle/kov/LAKHbefore youוְרֵוֵהּve/re/VEand its appearanceדְּחִיל׃de/CHILfearsome

    Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible.

32. 32

    הוּאhuthisצַלְמָאtsal/MAimageרֵאשֵׁהּre/SHEits headדִּי־דְהַבdi-de/HAVof goldטָבtavfineחֲדוֹהִיcha/DO/hiits chestוּדְרָעוֹהִיu/de/ra/O/hiand its armsדִּיdiofכְסַףkhe/SAFsilverמְעוֹהִיme/O/hiits bellyוְיַרְכָתֵהּve/yar/kha/TEand its thighsדִּיdiofנְחָשׁ׃ne/CHASHbronze

    This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,

33. 33

    שָׁקוֹהִיsha/KO/hiits legsדִּיdiofפַרְזֶלfar/ZELironרַגְלוֹהִיrag/LO/hiits feet(מנהון)manahavan[מִנְּהֵין]min/ne/HENpartlyדִּיdiofפַרְזֶלfar/ZELiron(ומנהון)vamanahavan[וּמִנְּהֵין]u/min/ne/HENand partlyדִּיdiofחֲסַף׃cha/SAFclay

    His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.

34. 34

    חָזֵהcha/ZEseeingהֲוַיְתָha/VAY/tayou wereעַדaduntilדִּיdithatהִתְגְּזֶרֶתhit/ge/ZE/retwas cut outאֶבֶןE/vena stoneדִּי־לָאdi-lanotבִידַיִןvi/DA/yinby handsוּמְחָתu/me/CHATand it struckלְצַלְמָאle/tsal/MAthe imageעַל־רַגְלוֹהִיal-rag/LO/hion its feetדִּיdiofפַרְזְלָאfar/ze/LAof ironוְחַסְפָּאve/chas/PAand the clayוְהַדֵּקֶתve/had/DE/ketand crushedהִמּוֹן׃him/MONthem

    Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.

35. 35

    בֵּאדַיִןbe/DA/yinthenדָּקוּDA/kuwere crushedכַחֲדָהkha/cha/DAtogetherפַּרְזְלָאpar/ze/LAthe ironחַסְפָּאchas/PAthe clayנְחָשָׁאne/cha/SHAthe bronzeכַּסְפָּאkas/PAthe silverוְדַהֲבָאve/da/ha/VAand the goldוַהֲווֹva/ha/VOand becameכְּעוּרke/URlike chaffמִן־אִדְּרֵי־קַיִטmin-id/de/RE-KA/yitfrom the summer threshing floorsוּנְשָׂאu/ne/SAand it carried awayהִמּוֹןhim/MONthemרוּחָאru/CHAthe windוְכׇל־אֲתַרve/KHOL-a/TARand any placeלָא־הִשְׁתְּכַחla-hish/te/KHACHwas not foundלְהוֹןle/HONfor themוְאַבְנָאve/av/NAand the stoneדִּי־מְחָתdi-me/CHATthat struckלְצַלְמָאle/tsal/MAthe imageהֲוָתha/VATbecameלְטוּרle/TURa mountainרַבravgreatוּמְלָאתu/me/LATand filledכׇּל־אַרְעָא׃kol-ar/Aall the earth

    Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

36. 36

    דְּנָהde/NAthis isחֶלְמָאchel/MAthe dreamוּפִשְׁרֵהּu/fish/REand its interpretationנֵאמַרne/MARwe will tellקֳדָם־מַלְכָּא׃ko/DAM-mal/KAbefore the king

    This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.

37. 37

    (אנתה)natah[אַנְתְּ]antyouמַלְכָּאmal/KAO kingמֶלֶךְME/lekhare king ofמַלְכַיָּאmal/khay/YAkingsדִּיdito whomאֱלָהּe/LAthe God ofשְׁמַיָּאshe/may/YAheavenמַלְכוּתָאmal/khu/TAthe kingdomחִסְנָאchis/NAthe powerוְתׇקְפָּאve/tok/PAand the strengthוִיקָרָאvi/ka/RAand the honorיְהַב־לָךְ׃ye/HAV-lakhhas given you

    Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.

38. 38

    וּבְכׇל־דִּיu/ve/KHOL-diand wherever(דארין)drayan[דָיְרִין]da/ye/RINdwellבְּנֵי־אֲנָשָׁאbe/NE-a/na/SHAthe sons of menחֵיוַתche/VATthe beasts ofבָּרָאba/RAthe fieldוְעוֹף־שְׁמַיָּאve/OF-she/may/YAand the birds of heavenיְהַבye/HAVHe has givenבִּידָךְbi/DAKHinto your handוְהַשְׁלְטָךְve/hash/le/TAKHand made you rulerבְּכׇלְּהוֹןbe/khol/le/HONover them all(אנתה)natah[אַנְתְּ־]הוּאant-huyou areרֵאשָׁהre/SHAthe headדִּיdiofדַהֲבָא׃da/ha/VAgold

    And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.

39. 39

    וּבָתְרָךְu/va/te/RAKHand after youתְּקוּםte/KUMwill ariseמַלְכוּmal/KHUa kingdomאׇחֳרִיo/cho/RIanother(ארעא)r[אֲרַע]a/RAlowerמִנָּךְmin/NAKHthan youוּמַלְכוּu/mal/KHUand a kingdom[תְלִיתָאָה]te/li/ta/Athirdאׇחֳרִיo/cho/RIanotherדִּיdiofנְחָשָׁאne/cha/SHAbronzeדִּיdithatתִשְׁלַטtish/LATwill ruleבְּכׇל־אַרְעָא׃be/KHOL-ar/Aover all the earth

    And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.

40. 40

    וּמַלְכוּu/mal/KHUand a kingdom(רביעיה)ravayyah[רְבִיעָאָה]re/vi/a/Afourthתֶּהֱוֵאte/he/VEwill beתַקִּיפָהtak/ki/FAstrongכְּפַרְזְלָאke/far/ze/LAas ironכׇּל־קֳבֵלkol-ko/VELbecauseדִּיdithatפַרְזְלָאfar/ze/LAthe ironמְהַדֵּקme/had/DEKcrushesוְחָשֵׁלve/cha/SHELand shattersכֹּלָּאKOL/laallוּכְפַרְזְלָאu/khe/far/ze/LAand like ironדִּי־מְרָעַעdi-me/ra/Athat breaksכׇּל־אִלֵּןkol-il/LENall theseתַּדִּקtad/DIKit will crushוְתֵרֹעַ׃ve/te/RO/aand break

    And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.

41. 41

    וְדִי־חֲזַיְתָהve/DI-cha/ZAY/taand as you sawרַגְלַיָּאrag/lay/YAthe feetוְאֶצְבְּעָתָאve/ets/be/a/TAand the toes(מנהון)manahavan[מִנְּהֵן]min/ne/HENpartlyחֲסַףcha/SAFclayדִּי־פֶחָרdi-fe/CHARof the potter(ומנהון)vamanahavan[וּמִנְּהֵין]u/min/ne/HENand partlyפַּרְזֶלpar/ZELironמַלְכוּmal/KHUa kingdomפְלִיגָהfe/li/GAdividedתֶּהֱוֵהte/he/VEit will beוּמִן־נִצְבְּתָאu/MIN-nits/be/TAand some of the firmnessדִי־פַרְזְלָאdi-far/ze/LAof the ironלֶהֱוֵא־בַהּle/he/VE-vawill be in itכׇּל־קֳבֵלkol-ko/VELbecauseדִּיdithatחֲזַיְתָהcha/ZAY/tayou sawפַּרְזְלָאpar/ze/LAthe ironמְעָרַבme/a/RAVmixedבַּחֲסַףba/cha/SAFwith the clay ofטִינָא׃ti/NAmire

    And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.

42. 42

    וְאֶצְבְּעָתve/ets/be/ATand the toes ofרַגְלַיָּאrag/lay/YAthe feet(מנהון)manahavan[מִנְּהֵין]min/ne/HENpartlyפַּרְזֶלpar/ZELiron(ומנהון)vamanahavan[וּמִנְּהֵין]u/min/ne/HENand partlyחֲסַףcha/SAFclayמִן־קְצָתmin-ke/TSATpartlyמַלְכוּתָאmal/khu/TAthe kingdomתֶּהֱוֵהte/he/VEwill beתַקִּיפָהtak/ki/FAstrongוּמִנַּהּu/min/NAand partlyתֶּהֱוֵאte/he/VEwill beתְבִירָה׃te/vi/RAbrittle

    And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.

43. 43

    (די)day[וְדִי]ve/DIand asחֲזַיְתָcha/ZAY/tayou sawפַּרְזְלָאpar/ze/LAthe ironמְעָרַבme/a/RAVmixedבַּחֲסַףba/cha/SAFwith the clay ofטִינָאti/NAmireמִתְעָרְבִיןmit/a/re/VINmixingלֶהֱוֺןle/he/VONthey will beבִּזְרַעbiz/RAwith the seed ofאֲנָשָׁאa/na/SHAmenוְלָא־לֶהֱוֺןve/LA-le/he/VONand they will not beדָּבְקִיןda/ve/KINclingingדְּנָהde/NAthisעִם־דְּנָהim-de/NAwith thisהֵא־כְדִיhe-khe/DIjust asפַרְזְלָאfar/ze/LAthe ironלָאlanotמִתְעָרַבmit/a/RAVmixesעִם־חַסְפָּא׃im-chas/PAwith the clay

    And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

44. 44

    וּבְיוֹמֵיהוֹןu/ve/yo/me/HONand in the daysדִּיdiofמַלְכַיָּאmal/khay/YAkingsאִנּוּןin/NUNthoseיְקִיםye/KIMwill set upאֱלָהּe/LAthe God ofשְׁמַיָּאshe/may/YAheavenמַלְכוּmal/KHUa kingdomדִּיdithatלְעָלְמִיןle/a/le/MINforeverלָאlanotתִתְחַבַּלtit/chab/BALwill be destroyedוּמַלְכוּתָהu/mal/khu/TAand the kingdomלְעַםle/AMa peopleאׇחֳרָןo/cho/RANotherלָאlanotתִשְׁתְּבִקtish/te/VIKwill be leftתַּדִּקtad/DIKit will crushוְתָסֵיףve/ta/SEFand bring to an endכׇּל־אִלֵּיןkol-il/LENall theseמַלְכְוָתָאmal/khe/va/TAkingdomsוְהִיאve/HIand itתְּקוּםte/KUMwill standלְעָלְמַיָּא׃le/a/le/may/YAforever

    And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

45. 45

    כׇּל־קֳבֵלkol-ko/VELbecauseדִּי־חֲזַיְתָdi-cha/ZAY/tayou sawדִּיdithatמִטּוּרָאmit/tu/RAfrom the mountainאִתְגְּזֶרֶתit/ge/ZE/retwas cut outאֶבֶןE/vena stoneדִּי־לָאdi-lanotבִידַיִןvi/DA/yinby handsוְהַדֵּקֶתve/had/DE/ketand crushedפַּרְזְלָאpar/ze/LAthe ironנְחָשָׁאne/cha/SHAbronzeחַסְפָּאchas/PAthe clayכַּסְפָּאkas/PAthe silverוְדַהֲבָאve/da/ha/VAand the goldאֱלָהּe/LAa Godרַבravgreatהוֹדַעho/DAhas made knownלְמַלְכָּאle/mal/KAto the kingמָהmawhatדִּיdiis toלֶהֱוֵאle/he/VEbeאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterדְנָהde/NAthisוְיַצִּיבve/yats/TSIVand certain isחֶלְמָאchel/MAthe dreamוּמְהֵימַןu/me/he/MANand trustworthyפִּשְׁרֵהּ׃pish/REits interpretation

    Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

46. 46

    בֵּאדַיִןbe/DA/yinthenמַלְכָּאmal/KAthe kingנְבוּכַדְנֶצַּרNe/vu/khad/nets/TSARNebuchadnezzarנְפַלne/FALfellעַל־אַנְפּוֹהִיal-an/PO/hion his faceוּלְדָנִיֵּאלu/Le/da/niy/YELand to Danielסְגִדse/GIDpaid homageוּמִנְחָהu/min/CHAand an offeringוְנִיחֹחִיןve/ni/cho/CHINand soothing aromasאֲמַרa/MARcommandedלְנַסָּכָהle/nas/SA/khato pour outלֵהּ׃leto him

    Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him.

47. 47

    עָנֵהa/NEansweredמַלְכָּאmal/KAthe kingלְדָנִיֵּאלle/Da/niy/YELto Danielוְאָמַרve/a/MARand saidמִן־קְשֹׁטmin-ke/SHOTof a truthדִּיdithatאֱלָהֲכוֹןe/la/ha/KHONyour Godהוּאhuisאֱלָהּe/LAthe God ofאֱלָהִיןe/la/HINgodsוּמָרֵאu/ma/REand the Lord ofמַלְכִיןmal/KHINkingsוְגָלֵהve/ga/LEand a revealer ofרָזִיןra/ZINsecretsדִּיdiforיְכֵלְתָּye/KHEL/tayou were ableלְמִגְלֵאle/mig/LEto revealרָזָאra/ZAthe secretדְנָה׃de/NAthis

    The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret.

48. 48

    אֱדַיִןe/DA/yinthenמַלְכָּאmal/KAthe kingלְדָנִיֵּאלle/Da/niy/YELto Danielרַבִּיrab/BImade greatוּמַתְּנָןu/mat/te/NANand giftsרַבְרְבָןrav/re/VANgreatשַׂגִּיאָןsag/gi/ANmanyיְהַב־לֵהּye/HAV-legave himוְהַשְׁלְטֵהּve/hash/le/TEand made him rulerעַלaloverכׇּל־מְדִינַתkol-me/di/NATall the province ofבָּבֶלBa/VELBabylonוְרַב־סִגְנִיןve/RAV-sig/NINand chief of the prefectsעַלaloverכׇּל־חַכִּימֵיkol-chak/ki/MEall the wise men ofבָבֶל׃Va/VELBabylon

    Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon.

49. 49

    וְדָנִיֵּאלve/Da/niy/YELand Danielבְּעָאbe/Ahe askedמִן־מַלְכָּאmin-mal/KAof the kingוּמַנִּיu/man/NIand he appointedעַלaloverעֲבִידְתָּאa/vid/TAthe administrationדִּיdiofמְדִינַתme/di/NATthe province ofבָּבֶלBa/VELBabylonלְשַׁדְרַךְLe/shad/RAKHShadrachמֵישַׁךְMe/SHAKHMeshachוַעֲבֵדva/A/VEDand Abed-נְגוֹne/GOnegoוְדָנִיֵּאלve/Da/niy/YELand Danielבִּתְרַעbit/RAwas at the gate ofמַלְכָּא׃mal/KAthe king

    Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel sat in the gate of the king.
