כֹּהkothusהִרְאַנִיhir/A/nihas shown meאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdיוֹצֵרyo/TSERHe formedגֹּבַיgo/VAYlocustsבִּתְחִלַּתbit/chil/LATin the beginning ofעֲלוֹתa/LOTthe shooting up ofהַלָּקֶשׁhal/LA/keshthe latter growthוְהִנֵּה־לֶקֶשׁve/hin/NE-LE/keshand behold the latter growthאַחַרa/CHARafterגִּזֵּיgiz/ZEthe mowings ofהַמֶּלֶךְ׃ham/ME/lekhthe king
Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king's mowings.

וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it came to passאִם־כִּלָּהim-kil/LAwhen they had made an endלֶאֱכוֹלle/e/KHOLof eatingאֶת־עֵשֶׂבet-E/sevthe grass ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landוָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYO LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODסְלַח־נָאse/LACH-naforgive I prayמִיmiwhoיָקוּםya/KUMshall ariseיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobכִּיkiforקָטֹןka/TONsmallהוּא׃huhe is
And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord GOD, forgive, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.

נִחַםni/CHAMrepentedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעַל־זֹאתal-zotfor thisלֹאlonotתִהְיֶהtih/YEit shall beאָמַרa/MARsaidיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD
The LORD repented for this: It shall not be, saith the LORD.

Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord GOD called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part.

וָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYO LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODחֲדַל־נָאcha/DAL-nacease I prayמִיmiwhoיָקוּםya/KUMshall ariseיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobכִּיkiforקָטֹןka/TONsmallהוּא׃huhe is
Then said I, O Lord GOD, cease, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.

The LORD repented for this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord GOD.

Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.

וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֵלַיe/LAYto meמָה־אַתָּהma-at/TAwhat are youרֹאֶהro/EseeingעָמוֹסA/MOSAmosוָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidאֲנָךְa/NAKHa plumblineוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe Lordהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iשָׂםsamwill setאֲנָךְa/NAKHa plumblineבְּקֶרֶבbe/KE/revin the midst ofעַמִּיam/MImy peopleיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelלֹא־אוֹסִיףlo-o/SIFI will not againעוֹדodany moreעֲבוֹרa/VORpass byלוֹ׃lohim
And the LORD said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:

וְנָשַׁמּוּve/na/SHAM/muand shall be desolateבָּמוֹתba/MOTthe high places ofיִשְׂחָקYis/CHAKIsaacוּמִקְדְּשֵׁיu/mik/de/SHEand the sanctuaries ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelיֶחֱרָבוּye/che/RA/vushall be laid wasteוְקַמְתִּיve/kam/TIand I will riseעַל־בֵּיתal-betagainst the house ofיָרׇבְעָםYa/rov/AMJeroboamבֶּחָרֶב׃be/CHA/revwith the sword
And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.

וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentאֲמַצְיָהA/mats/YAAmaziahכֹּהֵןko/HENthe priest ofבֵּית־אֵלBet-elBeth-elאֶל־יָרׇבְעָםel-Ya/rov/AMto Jeroboamמֶלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵלME/lekh-Yis/ra/ELking of Israelלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingקָשַׁרka/SHARhe has conspiredעָלֶיךָa/LE/khaagainst youעָמוֹסA/MOSAmosבְּקֶרֶבbe/KE/revin the midst ofבֵּיתbetthe house ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelלֹא־תוּכַלlo-tu/KHALis not ableהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landלְהָכִילle/ha/KHILto containאֶת־כׇּל־דְּבָרָיו׃et-kol-de/va/RAYVall his words
Then Amaziah the priest of Beth-el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.

כִּי־כֹהki-khofor thusאָמַרa/MARsaysעָמוֹסA/MOSAmosבַּחֶרֶבba/CHE/revwith the swordיָמוּתya/MUThe shall dieיָרׇבְעָםYa/rov/AMJeroboamוְיִשְׂרָאֵלve/Yis/ra/ELand Israelגָּלֹהga/LOgo into captivityיִגְלֶהyig/LEshall go into captivityמֵעַלme/ALout ofאַדְמָתוֹ׃ad/ma/TOhis land
For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land.

וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲמַצְיָהA/mats/YAAmaziahאֶל־עָמוֹסel-A/MOSto Amosחֹזֶהcho/ZEO seerלֵךְlekhgoבְּרַח־לְךָbe/RACH-le/KHAflee awayאֶל־אֶרֶץel-E/retsto the land ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahוֶאֱכׇל־שָׁםve/e/KHOL-shamand eat thereלֶחֶםLE/chembreadוְשָׁםve/SHAMand thereתִּנָּבֵא׃tin/na/VEprophesy
Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:

וּבֵית־אֵלu/VET-eland Beth-elלֹא־תוֹסִיףlo-to/SIFdo not againעוֹדodany moreלְהִנָּבֵאle/hin/na/VEto prophesyכִּיkiforמִקְדַּשׁ־מֶלֶךְmik/DASH-ME/lekhthe king's sanctuaryהוּאhuit isוּבֵיתu/VETand a house ofמַמְלָכָהmam/la/KHAthe kingdomהוּא׃huit is
But prophesy not again any more at Beth-el: for it is the king's chapel, and it is the king's court.

וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredעָמוֹסA/MOSAmosוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶל־אֲמַצְיָהel-A/mats/YAto Amaziahלֹא־נָבִיאlo-na/VInot a prophetאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIוְלֹאve/LOand notבֶן־נָבִיאven-na/VIson of a prophetאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIכִּי־בוֹקֵרki-vo/KERbut a herdmanאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIוּבוֹלֵסu/vo/LESand a gatherer ofשִׁקְמִים׃shik/MIMsycamore figs
Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:

וַיִּקָּחֵנִיvay/yik/ka/CHE/niand took meיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמֵאַחֲרֵיme/a/cha/REfrom followingהַצֹּאןhats/TSONthe flockוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלַיe/LAYto meיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלֵךְlekhgoהִנָּבֵאhin/na/VEprophesyאֶל־עַמִּיel-am/MIto my peopleיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael
And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.

וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowשְׁמַעshe/MAhearדְּבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDאַתָּהat/TAyouאֹמֵרo/MERsayלֹאlonotתִנָּבֵאtin/na/VEprophesyעַל־יִשְׂרָאֵלal-Yis/ra/ELagainst Israelוְלֹאve/LOand notתַטִּיףtat/TIFdropעַל־בֵּיתal-betagainst the house ofיִשְׂחָק׃Yis/CHAKIsaac
Now therefore hear thou the word of the LORD: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac.

לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeכֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאִשְׁתְּךָish/te/KHAyour wifeבָּעִירba/IRin the cityתִּזְנֶהtiz/NEshall be a harlotוּבָנֶיךָu/va/NE/khaand your sonsוּבְנֹתֶיךָu/ve/no/TE/khaand your daughtersבַּחֶרֶבba/CHE/revwith the swordיִפֹּלוּyip/PO/lushall fallוְאַדְמָתְךָve/ad/ma/te/KHAand your landבַּחֶבֶלba/CHE/velby lineתְּחֻלָּקte/chul/LAKshall be dividedוְאַתָּהve/at/TAand youעַל־אֲדָמָהal-a/da/MAin a landטְמֵאָהte/me/Auncleanתָּמוּתta/MUTyou shall dieוְיִשְׂרָאֵלve/Yis/ra/ELand Israelגָּלֹהga/LOgo into captivityיִגְלֶהyig/LEshall go into captivityמֵעַלme/ALout ofאַדְמָתוֹ׃ad/ma/TOhis land
Therefore thus saith the LORD; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land.
