Amos 2 עָמוֹס פרק ב׳

1. 1

   כֹּהthusאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDעַל־שְׁלֹשָׁהupon threeפִּשְׁעֵיtransgressions ofמוֹאָבMoabוְעַל־אַרְבָּעָהand upon fourלֹאnotאֲשִׁיבֶנּוּI will turn it backעַל־שׇׂרְפוֹupon burned heעַצְמוֹתthe bones ofמֶלֶךְ־אֱדוֹםking of Edomלַשִּׂיד׃into the lime

   Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime:

2. 2

   וְשִׁלַּחְתִּי־אֵשׁand I will send fireבְּמוֹאָבagainst Moabוְאׇכְלָהand shall devourאַרְמְנוֹתthe fortresses ofהַקְּרִיּוֹתthe Keriothוּמֵתand he will dieבְּשָׁאוֹןin uproarמוֹאָבMoabבִּתְרוּעָהwith shoutingבְּקוֹלthe voice ofשׁוֹפָר׃a ram's horn

   But I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth: and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet:

3. 3

   וְהִכְרַתִּיand cut offשׁוֹפֵטthe judgeמִקִּרְבָּהּfrom her midstוְכׇל־שָׂרֶיהָand all its princesאֶהֱרוֹגI will killעִמּוֹwith himאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

   And I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith the LORD.

   כֹּהthusאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDעַל־שְׁלֹשָׁהupon threeפִּשְׁעֵיtransgressions ofיְהוּדָהJudahוְעַל־אַרְבָּעָהand upon fourלֹאnotאֲשִׁיבֶנּוּI will turn it backעַל־מׇאֳסָםupon their rejectingאֶת־תּוֹרַתthe law ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDוְחֻקָּיוand his statutesלֹאnotשָׁמָרוּthey keptוַיַּתְעוּםand they have misled themכִּזְבֵיהֶםtheir liesאֲשֶׁר־הָלְכוּwhich wentאֲבוֹתָםtheir fathersאַחֲרֵיהֶם׃after them

   Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept his commandments, and their lies caused them to err, after the which their fathers have walked:

   וְשִׁלַּחְתִּיand I will sendאֵשׁfireבִּיהוּדָהthrough Judahוְאׇכְלָהand shall devourאַרְמְנוֹתthe fortresses ofיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃Jerusalem

   But I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.

6. 6

   כֹּהthusאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDעַל־שְׁלֹשָׁהupon threeפִּשְׁעֵיtransgressions ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelוְעַל־אַרְבָּעָהand upon fourלֹאnotאֲשִׁיבֶנּוּI will turn it backעַל־מִכְרָםbecause they soldבַּכֶּסֶףin the silverצַדִּיקrighteousוְאֶבְיוֹןand the poorבַּעֲבוּרbecause ofנַעֲלָיִם׃a pair of sandals

   Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes;

7. 7

   הַשֹּׁאֲפִיםthat pant afterעַל־עֲפַר־אֶרֶץupon the dust of the earthבְּרֹאשׁon the head ofדַּלִּיםthe poorוְדֶרֶךְand the way ofעֲנָוִיםthe meekיַטּוּthey shall turnוְאִישׁand a manוְאָבִיוand his fatherיֵלְכוּthey should travelאֶל־הַנַּעֲרָהto the young womanלְמַעַןin order thatחַלֵּלto profaneאֶת־שֵׁםname ofקׇדְשִׁי׃my holiness

   That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same maid, to profane my holy name:

8. 8

   וְעַל־בְּגָדִיםand upon garmentsחֲבֻלִיםtaken in pledgeיַטּוּthey lay themselves downאֵצֶלnearכׇּל־מִזְבֵּחַall an altarוְיֵיןand wine ofעֲנוּשִׁיםfinesיִשְׁתּוּthey drinkבֵּיתin the house ofאֱלֹהֵיהֶם׃their gods

   And they lay themselves down upon clothes laid to pledge by every altar, and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.

9. 9

   וְאָנֹכִיyet IהִשְׁמַדְתִּיI destroyedאֶת־הָאֱמֹרִיthe Amoriteמִפְּנֵיהֶםfrom before themאֲשֶׁרwhichכְּגֹבַהּaccording to the haughtiness ofאֲרָזִיםcedarsגׇּבְהוֹhis heightוְחָסֹןand is strongהוּאheכָּאַלּוֹנִיםlike oaksוָאַשְׁמִידand I destroyedפִּרְיוֹhis fruitמִמַּעַלaboveוְשׇׁרָשָׁיוand its rootsמִתָּחַת׃beneath

   Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.

    וְאָנֹכִיyet IהֶעֱלֵיתִיI brought upאֶתְכֶםyouמֵאֶרֶץfrom the land ofמִצְרָיִםEgyptוָאוֹלֵךְand I made walkאֶתְכֶםyouבַּמִּדְבָּרin the wildernessאַרְבָּעִיםfortyשָׁנָהyearsלָרֶשֶׁתto possessאֶת־אֶרֶץland ofהָאֱמֹרִי׃the Amorite

    Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.

11. 11

    וָאָקִיםand I raised upמִבְּנֵיכֶםsome of your sonsלִנְבִיאִיםto prophetsוּמִבַּחוּרֵיכֶםand some of your young menלִנְזִרִיםto Nazaritesהַאַףis it alsoאֵין־זֹאתthere is no thisבְּנֵיthe sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃says the LORD

    And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the LORD.

12. 12

    וַתַּשְׁקוּand you made drinkאֶת־הַנְּזִרִיםthe Nazaritesיָיִןwineוְעַל־הַנְּבִיאִיםand upon the prophetsצִוִּיתֶםyou commandedלֵאמֹרsayingלֹאnotתִּנָּבְאוּ׃you shall prophesy

    But ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.

13. 13

    הִנֵּהbeholdאָנֹכִיIמֵעִיקam pressedתַּחְתֵּיכֶםunder youכַּאֲשֶׁרasתָּעִיקis pressedהָעֲגָלָהthe cartהַמְלֵאָהthat is fullלָהּto herעָמִיר׃cut grain

    Behold, I am pressed under you, as a cart is pressed that is full of sheaves.

14. 14

    וְאָבַדand lostמָנוֹסdeliveranceמִקָּלfrom the swiftוְחָזָקand mightyלֹא־יְאַמֵּץnot he will make firmכֹּחוֹhis strengthוְגִבּוֹרand mightyלֹא־יְמַלֵּטnot he deliversנַפְשׁוֹ׃his soul

    Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver himself:

15. 15

    וְתֹפֵשׂand one who wieldsהַקֶּשֶׁתthe bowלֹאnotיַעֲמֹדshall standוְקַלand a person swiftבְּרַגְלָיוhis feetלֹאnotיְמַלֵּטhe deliversוְרֹכֵבand the rider ofהַסּוּסthe horsesלֹאnotיְמַלֵּטhe deliversנַפְשׁוֹ׃his soul

    Neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver himself: neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself.

16. 16

    וְאַמִּיץand strong ofלִבּוֹhis heartבַּגִּבּוֹרִיםamong the mighty onesעָרוֹםnakedיָנוּסfleeבַּיּוֹם־הַהוּאin the day thatנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃says the LORD

    And he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, saith the LORD.
