Amos 1 עָמוֹס פרק א׳

   The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.

   וַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמִצִּיּוֹןmits/Tsiy/YONout of Zionיִשְׁאָגyish/AGwill roarוּמִירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםu/Mi/ru/sha/LA/yimand from Jerusalemיִתֵּןyit/TENwill utterקוֹלוֹko/LOHis voiceוְאָבְלוּve/a/ve/LUand shall mournנְאוֹתne/OTthe pastures ofהָרֹעִיםha/ro/IMthe shepherdsוְיָבֵשׁve/ya/VESHand shall witherרֹאשׁroshthe top ofהַכַּרְמֶל׃Hak/kar/MELCarmel

   And he said, The LORD will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.

   כֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעַל־שְׁלֹשָׁהal-she/lo/SHAfor threeפִּשְׁעֵיpish/Etransgressions ofדַמֶּשֶׂקDam/ME/sekDamascusוְעַל־אַרְבָּעָהve/AL-ar/ba/Aand for fourלֹאlonotאֲשִׁיבֶנּוּa/shi/VEN/nuwill I turn it backעַל־דּוּשָׁםal-du/SHAMbecause they threshedבַּחֲרֻצוֹתba/cha/ru/TSOTwith the threshing sledges ofהַבַּרְזֶלhab/bar/ZELironאֶת־הַגִּלְעָד׃et-Hag/gil/ADGilead

   Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:

   וְשִׁלַּחְתִּיve/shil/lach/TIand I will sendאֵשׁeshfireבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofחֲזָאֵלCha/za/ELHazaelוְאׇכְלָהve/okh/LAand shall devourאַרְמְנוֹתar/me/NOTthe palaces ofבֶּן־הֲדָד׃ben-Ha/DADBen-hadad

   But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad.

   וְשָׁבַרְתִּיve/sha/var/TIand I will breakבְּרִיחַbe/RI/achthe bar ofדַּמֶּשֶׂקDam/ME/sekDamascusוְהִכְרַתִּיve/hikh/rat/TIand I will cut offיוֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVthe inhabitantמִבִּקְעַת־אָוֶןmib/Bik/AT-A/venfrom the plain of Avenוְתוֹמֵךְve/to/MEKHand him that holdsשֵׁבֶטSHE/vetthe scepterמִבֵּיתmib/BETfrom the house ofעֶדֶןE/denEdenוְגָלוּve/ga/LUand shall go into captivityעַם־אֲרָםam-A/RAMthe people of SyriaקִירָהKI/rato Kirאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

   I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD.

   כֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעַל־שְׁלֹשָׁהal-she/lo/SHAfor threeפִּשְׁעֵיpish/Etransgressions ofעַזָּהAz/ZAGazaוְעַל־אַרְבָּעָהve/AL-ar/ba/Aand for fourלֹאlonotאֲשִׁיבֶנּוּa/shi/VEN/nuwill I turn it backעַל־הַגְלוֹתָםal-hag/lo/TAMbecause they carried away captiveגָּלוּתga/LUTa captivityשְׁלֵמָהshe/le/MAwholeלְהַסְגִּירle/has/GIRto deliver them upלֶאֱדוֹם׃Le/e/DOMto Edom

   Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom:

   וְשִׁלַּחְתִּיve/shil/lach/TIand I will sendאֵשׁeshfireבְּחוֹמַתbe/cho/MATon the wall ofעַזָּהAz/ZAGazaוְאׇכְלָהve/okh/LAand shall devourאַרְמְנֹתֶיהָ׃ar/me/no/TE/haher palaces

   But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof:

   וְהִכְרַתִּיve/hikh/rat/TIand I will cut offיוֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVthe inhabitantמֵאַשְׁדּוֹדme/Ash/DODfrom Ashdodוְתוֹמֵךְve/to/MEKHand him that holdsשֵׁבֶטSHE/vetthe scepterמֵאַשְׁקְלוֹןme/Ash/ke/LONfrom Ashkelonוַהֲשִׁיבוֹתִיva/ha/shi/VO/tiand I will turnיָדִיya/DImy handעַל־עֶקְרוֹןal-Ek/RONagainst Ekronוְאָבְדוּve/a/ve/DUand shall perishשְׁאֵרִיתshe/e/RITthe remnant ofפְּלִשְׁתִּיםPe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesאָמַרa/MARsaysאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe Lordיֱהֹוִה׃AdonaiGOD

   And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord GOD.

   כֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעַל־שְׁלֹשָׁהal-she/lo/SHAfor threeפִּשְׁעֵי־צֹרpish/E-Tsortransgressions of Tyreוְעַל־אַרְבָּעָהve/AL-ar/ba/Aand for fourלֹאlonotאֲשִׁיבֶנּוּa/shi/VEN/nuwill I turn it backעַל־הַסְגִּירָםal-has/gi/RAMbecause they delivered upגָּלוּתga/LUTa captivityשְׁלֵמָהshe/le/MAwholeלֶאֱדוֹםLe/e/DOMto Edomוְלֹאve/LOand notזָכְרוּza/khe/RUthey rememberedבְּרִיתbe/RITthe covenant ofאַחִים׃a/CHIMbrethren

   Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant:

    וְשִׁלַּחְתִּיve/shil/lach/TIand I will sendאֵשׁeshfireבְּחוֹמַתbe/cho/MATon the wall ofצֹרTsorTyreוְאׇכְלָהve/okh/LAand shall devourאַרְמְנוֹתֶיהָ׃ar/me/no/TE/haher palaces

    But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof.

11. 11

    כֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעַל־שְׁלֹשָׁהal-she/lo/SHAfor threeפִּשְׁעֵיpish/Etransgressions ofאֱדוֹםE/DOMEdomוְעַל־אַרְבָּעָהve/AL-ar/ba/Aand for fourלֹאlonotאֲשִׁיבֶנּוּa/shi/VEN/nuwill I turn it backעַל־רׇדְפוֹal-rod/FObecause he pursuedבַחֶרֶבva/CHE/revwith the swordאָחִיוa/CHIVhis brotherוְשִׁחֵתve/shi/CHETand destroyedרַחֲמָיוra/cha/MAYVhis pityוַיִּטְרֹףvay/yit/ROFand toreלָעַדla/ADforeverאַפּוֹap/POhis angerוְעֶבְרָתוֹve/ev/ra/TOand his wrathשְׁמָרָהֿshe/MA/rahe kept itנֶצַח׃NE/tsachfor ever

    Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:

12. 12

    וְשִׁלַּחְתִּיve/shil/lach/TIand I will sendאֵשׁeshfireבְּתֵימָןbe/Te/MANin Temanוְאׇכְלָהve/okh/LAand shall devourאַרְמְנוֹתar/me/NOTthe palaces ofבׇּצְרָה׃Bots/RABozrah

    But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.

13. 13

    כֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעַל־שְׁלֹשָׁהal-she/lo/SHAfor threeפִּשְׁעֵיpish/Etransgressions ofבְנֵי־עַמּוֹןve/NE-am/MONthe children of Ammonוְעַל־אַרְבָּעָהve/AL-ar/ba/Aand for fourלֹאlonotאֲשִׁיבֶנּוּa/shi/VEN/nuwill I turn it backעַל־בִּקְעָםal-bik/AMbecause they ripped upהָרוֹתha/ROTthe women with child ofהַגִּלְעָדHag/gil/ADGileadלְמַעַןle/MA/anin order toהַרְחִיבhar/CHIVenlargeאֶת־גְּבוּלָם׃et-ge/vu/LAMtheir territory

    Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border:

14. 14

    וְהִצַּתִּיve/hits/TSAT/tiand I will kindleאֵשׁeshfireבְּחוֹמַתbe/cho/MATon the wall ofרַבָּהRab/BARabbahוְאׇכְלָהve/okh/LAand shall devourאַרְמְנוֹתֶיהָar/me/no/TE/haher palacesבִּתְרוּעָהbit/ru/Awith shoutingבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the day ofמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAwarבְּסַעַרbe/SA/arwith a tempestבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the day ofסוּפָה׃su/FAthe whirlwind

    But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind:

15. 15

    וְהָלַךְve/ha/LAKHand shall goמַלְכָּםmal/KAMtheir kingבַּגּוֹלָהbag/go/LAinto captivityהוּאhuheוְשָׂרָיוve/sa/RAYVand his princesיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the LORD.
