1. 1

   And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took Metheg-ammah out of the hand of the Philistines.

   And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And so the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts.

   David smote also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his border at the river Euphrates.

   וַיִּלְכֹּדvay/yil/KODand capturedדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nufrom himאֶלֶףE/lefa thousandוּשְׁבַע־מֵאוֹתu/she/VA-me/OTand seven hundredפָּרָשִׁיםpa/ra/SHIMhorsemenוְעֶשְׂרִיםve/es/RIMand twentyאֶלֶףE/lefthousandאִישׁishmenרַגְלִיrag/LIfootmenוַיְעַקֵּרvay/ak/KERand hamstrungדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidאֶת־כׇּל־הָרֶכֶבet-kol-ha/RE/khevall the chariot horsesוַיּוֹתֵרvay/yo/TERbut leftמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nuof themמֵאָהme/Aa hundredרָכֶב׃RA/khevchariots

   And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for an hundred chariots.

   And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.

   וַיָּשֶׂםvay/YA/semand setדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidנְצִבִיםne/tsi/VIMgarrisonsבַּאֲרַםba/A/RAMin AramדַּמֶּשֶׂקDam/ME/sekof Damascusוַתְּהִיvat/te/HIand wasאֲרָםA/RAMAramלְדָוִדle/Da/VIDto Davidלַעֲבָדִיםla/a/va/DIMas servantsנוֹשְׂאֵיnos/Ebearers ofמִנְחָהmin/CHAtributeוַיֹּשַׁעvay/YO/shaand savedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־דָּוִדet-Da/VIDDavidבְּכֹלbe/KHOLin allאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereהָלָךְ׃ha/LAKHhe went

   Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought gifts. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

   וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidאֵת־שִׁלְטֵיet-shil/TEthe shields ofהַזָּהָבhaz/za/HAVgoldאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהָיוּha/YUwereאֶלelonעַבְדֵיav/DEthe servants ofהֲדַדְעָזֶרHa/dad/A/zerHadadezerוַיְבִיאֵםvay/vi/EMand brought themיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃Ye/ru/sha/LA/yimto Jerusalem

   And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

   And from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass.

   וַיִּשְׁמַעvay/yish/MAand heardתֹּעִיTO/iToiמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofחֲמָתCha/MATHamathכִּיkithatהִכָּהhik/KAhad struckדָוִדDa/VIDDavidאֵת־כׇּל־חֵילet-kol-chelall the army ofהֲדַדְעָזֶר׃Ha/dad/A/zerHadadezer

   When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer,

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentתֹּעִיTO/iToiאֶת־יוֹרָם־בְּנוֹet-Yo/RAM-be/NOJoram his sonאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְ־דָּוִדel-Ham/ME/lekh-da/VIDto king Davidלִשְׁאׇל־לוֹlish/OL-loto ask himלְשָׁלוֹםle/sha/LOMfor peaceוּלְבָרְכוֹu/le/va/re/KHOand to bless himעַלalbecauseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatנִלְחַםnil/CHAMhe had foughtבַּהֲדַדְעֶזֶרba/Ha/dad/E/zeragainst Hadadezerוַיַּכֵּהוּvay/yak/KE/huand struck himכִּי־אִישׁki-ishfor a man ofמִלְחֲמוֹתmil/cha/MOTwars withתֹּעִיTO/iToiהָיָהha/YAwasהֲדַדְעָזֶרHa/dad/A/zerHadadezerוּבְיָדוֹu/ve/ya/DOand in his handהָיוּha/YUwereכְּלֵי־כֶסֶףke/LE-KHE/sefvessels of silverוּכְלֵי־זָהָבu/khe/LE-za/HAVand vessels of goldוּכְלֵיu/khe/LEand vessels ofנְחֹשֶׁת׃ne/CHO/shetbronze

    Then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass:

    גַּם־אֹתָםgam-o/TAMthem alsoהִקְדִּישׁhik/DISHdedicatedהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDעִם־הַכֶּסֶףim-hak/KE/sefwith the silverוְהַזָּהָבve/haz/za/HAVand the goldאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהִקְדִּישׁhik/DISHhe had dedicatedמִכׇּל־הַגּוֹיִםmik/KOL-hag/go/YIMfrom all the nationsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatכִּבֵּשׁ׃kib/BESHhe had subdued

    Which also king David did dedicate unto the LORD, with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all nations which he subdued;

    Of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

    וַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand madeדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidשֵׁםshema nameבְּשֻׁבוֹbe/shu/VOwhen he returnedמֵהַכּוֹתוֹme/hak/ko/TOfrom strikingאֶת־אֲרָםet-A/RAMAramבְּגֵיא־מֶלַחbe/GE-ME/lachin the Valley of Saltשְׁמוֹנָה־עָשָׂרshe/mo/NA-a/SAReighteenאָלֶף׃A/lefthousand

    And David gat him a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, being eighteen thousand men.

14. 14

    וַיָּשֶׂםvay/YA/semand he setבֶּאֱדוֹםBe/e/DOMin Edomנְצִבִיםne/tsi/VIMgarrisonsבְּכׇל־אֱדוֹםbe/KHOL-e/DOMin all Edomשָׂםsamhe putנְצִבִיםne/tsi/VIMgarrisonsוַיְהִיvay/HIand wereכׇל־אֱדוֹםkhol-E/DOMall Edomעֲבָדִיםa/va/DIMservantsלְדָוִדle/Da/VIDto Davidוַיּוֹשַׁעvay/YO/shaand savedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־דָּוִדet-Da/VIDDavidבְּכֹלbe/KHOLin allאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereהָלָךְ׃ha/LAKHhe went

    And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became David's servants. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

15. 15

    וַיִּמְלֹךְvay/yim/LOKHand reignedדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidעַל־כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵלal-Kol-yis/ra/ELover all Israelוַיְהִיvay/HIand wasדָוִדDa/VIDDavidעֹשֶׂהo/SEdoingמִשְׁפָּטmish/PATjudgmentוּצְדָקָהu/tse/da/KAand righteousnessלְכׇל־עַמּוֹ׃le/KHOL-am/MOto all his people

    And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people.

16. 16

    וְיוֹאָבve/Yo/AVand Joabבֶּן־צְרוּיָהben-Tse/ru/YAthe son of Zeruiahעַל־הַצָּבָאal-hats/tsa/VAover the armyוִיהוֹשָׁפָטVi/ho/sha/FATand Jehoshaphatבֶּן־אֲחִילוּדben-A/chi/LUDthe son of Ahiludמַזְכִּיר׃maz/KIRwas recorder

    And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;

17. 17

    וְצָדוֹקve/Tsa/DOKand Zadokבֶּן־אֲחִיטוּבben-A/chi/TUVthe son of Ahitubוַאֲחִימֶלֶךְva/A/chi/ME/lekhand Ahimelechבֶּן־אֶבְיָתָרben-Ev/ya/TARthe son of Abiatharכֹּהֲנִיםko/ha/NIMwere priestsוּשְׂרָיָהu/Se/ra/YAand Seraiahסוֹפֵר׃so/FERwas the scribe

    And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Seraiah was the scribe;

18. 18

    וּבְנָיָהוּu/ve/Na/YA/huand Benaiahבֶּן־יְהוֹיָדָעben-Ye/ho/ya/DAthe son of Jehoiadaוְהַכְּרֵתִיve/hak/Ke/re/TIand the Cherethitesוְהַפְּלֵתִיve/hap/Pe/le/TIand the Pelethitesוּבְנֵיu/ve/NEand the sons ofדָוִדDa/VIDDavidכֹּהֲנִיםko/ha/NIMpriestsהָיוּ׃ha/YUwere

    And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were chief rulers.
