1. 1

   וַיְהִיand-it-came-to-passאַחֲרֵי־כֵןafter-thisוַיַּךְand-smoteדָּוִדDavidאֶת־פְּלִשְׁתִּיםthe-Philistinesוַיַּכְנִיעֵםand-subdued-themוַיִּקַּחand-tookדָּוִדDavidאֶת־מֶתֶגMeteg-הָאַמָּהammahמִיַּדfrom-the-hand-ofפְּלִשְׁתִּים׃the-Philistines

   And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took Metheg-ammah out of the hand of the Philistines.

2. 2

   וַיַּךְand-he-smoteאֶת־מוֹאָבMoabוַיְמַדְּדֵםand-measured-themבַּחֶבֶלwith-a-lineהַשְׁכֵּבmaking-lie-downאוֹתָםthemאַרְצָהon-the-groundוַיְמַדֵּדand-he-measuredשְׁנֵי־חֲבָלִיםtwo-linesלְהָמִיתto-put-to-deathוּמְלֹאand-one-fullהַחֶבֶלlineלְהַחֲיוֹתto-keep-aliveוַתְּהִיand-wasמוֹאָבMoabלְדָוִדDavid'sלַעֲבָדִיםfor-servantsנֹשְׂאֵיand-broughtמִנְחָה׃tribute

   And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And so the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts.

   וַיַּךְand-smoteדָּוִדDavidאֶת־הֲדַדְעֶזֶרHadadezerבֶּן־רְחֹבson-of-Rehobמֶלֶךְthe-king-ofצוֹבָהZobahבְּלֶכְתּוֹas-he-wentלְהָשִׁיבto-extendיָדוֹhis-dominion(בנהר)[בִּנְהַר־פְּרָת]׃at-the-river-Euphrates

   David smote also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his border at the river Euphrates.

   וַיִּלְכֹּדand-capturedדָּוִדDavidמִמֶּנּוּfrom-himאֶלֶףthousandוּשְׁבַע־מֵאוֹתand-seven-hundredפָּרָשִׁיםhorsemenוְעֶשְׂרִיםand-twentyאֶלֶףthousandאִישׁmenרַגְלִיfootmenוַיְעַקֵּרand-lamedדָּוִדDavidאֶת־כׇּל־הָרֶכֶבall-the-chariot-horsesוַיּוֹתֵרbut-reservedמִמֶּנּוּfrom-himמֵאָהa-hundredרָכֶב׃chariots

   And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for an hundred chariots.

   וַתָּבֹאand-cameאֲרַםSyriaדַּמֶּשֶׂקDamascusלַעְזֹרto-the-help-ofלַהֲדַדְעֶזֶרHadadezerמֶלֶךְthe-king-ofצוֹבָהZobahוַיַּךְand-smoteדָּוִדDavidבַּאֲרָםof-Syriaעֶשְׂרִים־וּשְׁנַיִםtwenty-and-twoאֶלֶףthousandאִישׁ׃men

   And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.

   וַיָּשֶׂםand-setדָּוִדDavidנְצִבִיםgarrisonsבַּאֲרַםin-SyriaדַּמֶּשֶׂקDamascusוַתְּהִיand-wasאֲרָםSyriaלְדָוִדto-Davidלַעֲבָדִיםfor-servantsנוֹשְׂאֵיand-broughtמִנְחָהtributeוַיֹּשַׁעand-gave-victoryיְהֹוָהthe-LORDאֶת־דָּוִדDavidבְּכֹלin-allאֲשֶׁרwhichהָלָךְ׃he-went

   Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought gifts. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

   וַיִּקַּחand-tookדָּוִדDavidאֵת־שִׁלְטֵיthe-shields-ofהַזָּהָבthe-goldאֲשֶׁרwhichהָיוּwereאֶלonעַבְדֵיservants-ofהֲדַדְעָזֶרHadadezerוַיְבִיאֵםand-brought-themיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃Jerusalem

   And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

8. 8

   וּמִבֶּטַחand-from-Betahוּמִבֵּרֹתַיand-from-Berothaiעָרֵיcities-ofהֲדַדְעָזֶרHadadezerלָקַחtookהַמֶּלֶךְthe-kingדָּוִדDavidנְחֹשֶׁתbrassהַרְבֵּהvery-muchמְאֹד׃exceedingly

   And from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass.

   וַיִּשְׁמַעand-he-heardתֹּעִיToiמֶלֶךְthe-king-ofחֲמָתHamathכִּיthatהִכָּהhad-smittenדָוִדDavidאֵת־כׇּל־חֵילall-the-army-ofהֲדַדְעָזֶר׃Hadadezer

   When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer,

    וַיִּשְׁלַחand-sentתֹּעִיToiאֶת־יוֹרָם־בְּנוֹJoram-his-sonאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְ־דָּוִדto-the-king-Davidלִשְׁאׇל־לוֹto-greet-himלְשָׁלוֹםof-peaceוּלְבָרְכוֹand-to-bless-himעַלuponאֲשֶׁרwhichנִלְחַםfoughtבַּהֲדַדְעֶזֶרagainst-Hadadezerוַיַּכֵּהוּand-smitten-himכִּי־אִישׁfor-a-man-ofמִלְחֲמוֹתthe-wars-ofתֹּעִיToiהָיָהwasהֲדַדְעָזֶרHadadezerוּבְיָדוֹand-in-his-handהָיוּwereכְּלֵי־כֶסֶףvessels-of-silverוּכְלֵי־זָהָבand-vessels-of-goldוּכְלֵיand-vessels-ofנְחֹשֶׁת׃brass

    Then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass:

    גַּם־אֹתָםwhich-alsoהִקְדִּישׁdid-dedicateהַמֶּלֶךְthe-kingדָּוִדDavidלַיהֹוָהto-the-LORDעִם־הַכֶּסֶףwith-the-silverוְהַזָּהָבand-the-goldאֲשֶׁרwhichהִקְדִּישׁhe-had-dedicatedמִכׇּל־הַגּוֹיִםfrom-all-the-nationsאֲשֶׁרwhichכִּבֵּשׁ׃he-had-conquered

    Which also king David did dedicate unto the LORD, with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all nations which he subdued;

    מֵאֲרָםfrom-Syriaוּמִמּוֹאָבand-from-Moabוּמִבְּנֵיand-of-the-children-ofעַמּוֹןAmmonוּמִפְּלִשְׁתִּיםand-from-the-Philistinesוּמֵעֲמָלֵקand-from-Amalekוּמִשְּׁלַלand-of-the-spoil-ofהֲדַדְעֶזֶרHadadezerבֶּן־רְחֹבson-of-Rehobמֶלֶךְthe-king-ofצוֹבָה׃Zobah

    Of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

13. 13

    וַיַּעַשׂand-madeדָּוִדDavidשֵׁםa-nameבְּשֻׁבוֹwhen-he-returnedמֵהַכּוֹתוֹfrom-smitingאֶת־אֲרָםSyriaבְּגֵיא־מֶלַחin-the-valley-of-saltשְׁמוֹנָה־עָשָׂרeighteenאָלֶף׃thousand

    And David gat him a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, being eighteen thousand men.

14. 14

    וַיָּשֶׂםand-he-setבֶּאֱדוֹםin-Edomנְצִבִיםgarrisonsבְּכׇל־אֱדוֹםin-all-Edomשָׂםhe-putנְצִבִיםgarrisonsוַיְהִיand-it-came-to-passכׇל־אֱדוֹםall-EdomעֲבָדִיםservantsלְדָוִדDavid'sוַיּוֹשַׁעand-gave-victoryיְהֹוָהthe-LORDאֶת־דָּוִדDavidבְּכֹלin-allאֲשֶׁרwhichהָלָךְ׃he-went

    And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became David's servants. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

15. 15

    וַיִּמְלֹךְand-reignedדָּוִדDavidעַל־כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵלover-all-Israelוַיְהִיand-wasדָוִדDavidעֹשֶׂהexecutedמִשְׁפָּטjudgmentוּצְדָקָהand-justiceלְכׇל־עַמּוֹ׃to-all-his-people

    And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people.

16. 16

    וְיוֹאָבand-Joabבֶּן־צְרוּיָהson-of-Zeruiahעַל־הַצָּבָאover-the-armyוִיהוֹשָׁפָטand-Jehoshaphatבֶּן־אֲחִילוּדson-of-Ahiludמַזְכִּיר׃recorder

    And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;

17. 17

    וְצָדוֹקand-Zadokבֶּן־אֲחִיטוּבson-of-Ahitubוַאֲחִימֶלֶךְand-Ahimelechבֶּן־אֶבְיָתָרson-of-Abiatharכֹּהֲנִיםthe-priestsוּשְׂרָיָהand-Seraiahסוֹפֵר׃was-the-scribe

    And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Seraiah was the scribe;

18. 18

    וּבְנָיָהוּand-Benaiahבֶּן־יְהוֹיָדָעson-of-Jehoiadaוְהַכְּרֵתִיand-the-Cherethitesוְהַפְּלֵתִיand-the-Pelethitesוּבְנֵיand-sons-ofדָוִדDavidכֹּהֲנִיםchief-rulersהָיוּ׃were

    And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were chief rulers.
