   And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the LORD had given him rest round about from all his enemies;

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאֶל־נָתָןel-Na/TANto Nathanהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetרְאֵהre/EseeנָאnaI prayאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIיוֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVam dwellingבְּבֵיתbe/VETin a house ofאֲרָזִיםa/ra/ZIMcedarsוַאֲרוֹןva/a/RONbut the ark ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodיֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVdwellsבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHwithinהַיְרִיעָה׃hay/ri/Athe curtain

   That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidנָתָןNa/TANNathanאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְel-ham/ME/lekhto the kingכֹּלkolallאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat isבִּלְבָבְךָbil/va/ve/KHAin your heartלֵךְlekhgoעֲשֵׂהa/SEdoכִּיkiforיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעִמָּךְ׃im/MAKHwith you

   And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in thine heart; for the LORD is with thee.

   And it came to pass that night, that the word of the LORD came unto Nathan, saying,

   לֵךְlekhgoוְאָמַרְתָּve/a/mar/TAand sayאֶל־עַבְדִּיel-av/DIto My servantאֶל־דָּוִדel-Da/VIDto Davidכֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהַאַתָּהha/at/TAshall youתִּבְנֶה־לִּיtiv/NE-libuild MeבַיִתVA/yita houseלְשִׁבְתִּי׃le/shiv/TIfor Me to dwell in

   Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith the LORD, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in?

   כִּיkiforלֹאlonotיָשַׁבְתִּיya/SHAV/tiI have dweltבְּבַיִתbe/VA/yitin a houseלְמִיּוֹםle/miy/YOMsince the dayהַעֲלֹתִיha/a/lo/TII brought upאֶת־בְּנֵיet-be/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelמִמִּצְרַיִםmim/Mits/RA/yimout of Egyptוְעַדve/ADand toהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthe dayהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוָאֶהְיֶהva/eh/YEand I have beenמִתְהַלֵּךְmit/hal/LEKHwalkingבְּאֹהֶלbe/O/helin a tentוּבְמִשְׁכָּן׃u/ve/mish/KANand in a tabernacle

   Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.

   In all the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel spake I a word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, Why build ye not me an house of cedar?

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowכֹּה־תֹאמַרko-to/MARso shall you sayלְעַבְדִּיle/av/DIto My servantלְדָוִדle/Da/VIDto Davidכֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsאֲנִיa/NIIלְקַחְתִּיךָle/kach/TI/khaI took youמִן־הַנָּוֶהmin-han/na/VEfrom the pastureמֵאַחַרme/a/CHARfrom behindהַצֹּאןhats/TSONthe flockלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beנָגִידna/GIDprinceעַל־עַמִּיal-am/MIover My peopleעַל־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃al-Yis/ra/ELover Israel

   Now therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel:

9. 9

   וָאֶהְיֶהva/eh/YEand I wasעִמְּךָim/me/KHAwith youבְּכֹלbe/KHOLin allאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereהָלַכְתָּha/LAKH/tayou wentוָאַכְרִתָהva/akh/RI/taand I have cut offאֶת־כׇּל־אֹיְבֶיךָet-kol-oy/VE/khaall your enemiesמִפָּנֶיךָmip/pa/NE/khafrom before youוְעָשִׂתִי־לְךָve/a/SI/ti-le/KHAand I will make for youשֵׁםshema nameגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatכְּשֵׁםke/SHEMlike the name ofהַגְּדֹלִיםhag/ge/do/LIMthe great onesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho areבָּאָרֶץ׃ba/A/retsin the earth

   And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.

    וְשַׂמְתִּיve/sam/TIand I will appointמָקוֹםma/KOMa placeלְעַמִּיle/am/MIfor My peopleלְיִשְׂרָאֵלLe/yis/ra/ELIsraelוּנְטַעְתִּיוu/ne/ta/TIVand I will plant themוְשָׁכַןve/sha/KHANand they shall dwellתַּחְתָּיוtach/TAYVin their placeוְלֹאve/LOand notיִרְגַּזyir/GAZbe disturbedעוֹדodany moreוְלֹא־יֹסִיפוּve/LO-yo/SI/fuand shall not againבְנֵי־עַוְלָהve/NE-av/LAthe sons of wickednessלְעַנּוֹתוֹle/an/no/TOafflict themכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasבָּרִאשׁוֹנָה׃ba/ri/sho/NAat the first

    Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime,

    וּלְמִן־הַיּוֹםu/le/MIN-hay/YOMand from the dayאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatצִוִּיתִיtsiv/VI/tiI commandedשֹׁפְטִיםshof/TIMjudgesעַל־עַמִּיal-am/MIover My peopleיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוַהֲנִיחֹתִיva/ha/ni/CHO/tiand I will give restלְךָle/KHAto youמִכׇּל־אֹיְבֶיךָmik/KOL-oy/VE/khafrom all your enemiesוְהִגִּידve/hig/GIDand declaresלְךָle/KHAto youיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDכִּי־בַיִתki-VA/yitthat a houseיַעֲשֶׂה־לְּךָya/a/SE-le/KHAHe will make for youיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And as since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel, and have caused thee to rest from all thine enemies. Also the LORD telleth thee that he will make thee an house.

12. 12

    כִּיkiwhenיִמְלְאוּyim/le/Uare fulfilledיָמֶיךָya/ME/khayour daysוְשָׁכַבְתּve/sha/KHAVTand you shall sleepאֶת־אֲבֹתֶיךָet-a/vo/TE/khawith your fathersוַהֲקִימֹתִיva/ha/ki/mo/TIand I will raise upאֶת־זַרְעֲךָet-zar/a/KHAyour seedאַחֲרֶיךָa/cha/RE/khaafter youאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoיֵצֵאye/TSEshall come outמִמֵּעֶיךָmim/me/E/khafrom your bodyוַהֲכִינֹתִיva/ha/khi/no/TIand I will establishאֶת־מַמְלַכְתּוֹ׃et-mam/lakh/TOhis kingdom

    And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

13. 13

    הוּאhuheיִבְנֶה־בַּיִתyiv/NE-BA/yitshall build a houseלִשְׁמִיlish/MIfor My nameוְכֹנַנְתִּיve/kho/nan/TIand I will establishאֶת־כִּסֵּאet-kis/SEthe throne ofמַמְלַכְתּוֹmam/lakh/TOhis kingdomעַד־עוֹלָם׃ad-o/LAMforever

    He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

14. 14

    אֲנִיa/NIIאֶהְיֶה־לּוֹeh/YE-lowill be to himלְאָבle/AVa fatherוְהוּאve/HUand heיִהְיֶה־לִּיyih/YE-liwill be to Meלְבֵןle/VENa sonאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhenבְּהַעֲוֺתוֹbe/ha/a/vo/TOhe commits iniquityוְהֹכַחְתִּיוve/ho/khach/TIVI will chasten himבְּשֵׁבֶטbe/SHE/vetwith the rod ofאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenוּבְנִגְעֵיu/ve/nig/Eand with the strokes ofבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofאָדָם׃a/DAMman

    I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:

15. 15

    וְחַסְדִּיve/chas/DIbut My kindnessלֹא־יָסוּרlo-ya/SURshall not departמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nufrom himכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasהֲסִרֹתִיha/si/RO/tiI removed itמֵעִםme/IMfromשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomהֲסִרֹתִיha/si/RO/tiI removedמִלְּפָנֶיךָ׃mil/le/fa/NE/khafrom before you

    But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.

16. 16

    וְנֶאְמַןve/ne/MANand shall be establishedבֵּיתְךָbe/te/KHAyour houseוּמַמְלַכְתְּךָu/mam/lakh/te/KHAand your kingdomעַד־עוֹלָםad-o/LAMforeverלְפָנֶיךָle/fa/NE/khabefore youכִּסְאֲךָkis/a/KHAyour throneיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beנָכוֹןna/KHONestablishedעַד־עוֹלָם׃ad-o/LAMforever

    And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.

17. 17

    כְּכֹלke/KHOLaccording to allהַדְּבָרִיםhad/de/va/RIMthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוּכְכֹלu/khe/KHOLand according to allהַחִזָּיוֹןha/chiz/za/YONthe visionהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכֵּןkensoדִּבֶּרdib/BERspokeנָתָןNa/TANNathanאֶל־דָּוִד׃el-Da/VIDto David

    According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

18. 18

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand went inהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand satלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidמִיmiwhoאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIam Iאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYO LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODוּמִיu/MIand what isבֵיתִיve/TImy houseכִּיkithatהֲבִאֹתַנִיha/vi/o/TA/niYou have brought meעַד־הֲלֹם׃ad-ha/LOMthus far

    Then went king David in, and sat before the LORD, and he said, Who am I, O Lord GOD? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?

19. 19

    וַתִּקְטַןvat/tik/TANand was smallעוֹדodyetזֹאתzotthisבְּעֵינֶיךָbe/e/NE/khain Your eyesאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYO LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODוַתְּדַבֵּרvat/te/dab/BERand You have spokenגַּםgamalsoאֶל־בֵּית־עַבְדְּךָel-bet-av/de/KHAof the house of Your servantלְמֵרָחוֹקle/me/ra/CHOKfar into the futureוְזֹאתve/ZOTand thisתּוֹרַתto/RATthe law ofהָאָדָםha/a/DAMmanאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYO Lordיֱהֹוִה׃AdonaiGOD

    And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord GOD; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant's house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord GOD?

20. 20

    וּמַה־יּוֹסִיףu/MA-yo/SIFand what more canדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidעוֹדodstillלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERto speakאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato Youוְאַתָּהve/at/TAand Youיָדַעְתָּya/DA/taknowאֶת־עַבְדְּךָet-av/de/KHAYour servantאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYO Lordיֱהֹוִה׃AdonaiGOD

    And what can David say more unto thee? for thou, Lord GOD, knowest thy servant.

21. 21

    בַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURfor the sake ofדְּבָרְךָde/va/re/KHAYour wordוּכְלִבְּךָu/khe/lib/be/KHAand according to Your heartעָשִׂיתָa/SI/taYou have doneאֵת־כׇּל־הַגְּדוּלָּהet-kol-hag/ge/dul/LAall the greatnessהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisלְהוֹדִיעַle/ho/DI/ato make known toאֶת־עַבְדֶּךָ׃et-av/DE/khaYour servant

    For thy word's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all these great things, to make thy servant know them.

22. 22

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeגָּדַלְתָּga/DAL/taYou are greatיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodכִּי־אֵיןki-enfor there is noneכָּמוֹךָka/MO/khalike Youוְאֵיןve/ENand there is noאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodזוּלָתֶךָzu/la/TE/khabesides Youבְּכֹלbe/KHOLin allאֲשֶׁר־שָׁמַעְנוּa/SHER-sha/MA/nuthat we heardבְּאׇזְנֵינוּ׃be/oz/NE/nuwith our ears

    Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

23. 23

    וּמִיu/MIand whoכְעַמְּךָkhe/am/me/KHAis like Your peopleכְּיִשְׂרָאֵלke/Yis/ra/ELlike Israelגּוֹיgoya nationאֶחָדe/CHADoneבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the earthאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomהָלְכוּ־אֱלֹהִיםha/le/KHU-e/lo/HIMGod wentלִפְדּוֹת־לוֹlif/DOT-loto redeem for Himselfלְעָםle/AMa peopleוְלָשׂוּםve/la/SUMand to makeלוֹlofor Himשֵׁםshema nameוְלַעֲשׂוֹתve/la/a/SOTand to doלָכֶםla/KHEMfor youהַגְּדוּלָּהhag/ge/dul/LAthe greatnessוְנֹרָאוֹתve/no/ra/OTand awesome thingsלְאַרְצֶךָle/ar/TSE/khafor Your landמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbeforeעַמְּךָam/me/KHAYour peopleאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomפָּדִיתָpa/DI/taYou redeemedלְּךָle/KHAfor Yourselfמִמִּצְרַיִםmim/Mits/RA/yimout of Egyptגּוֹיִםgo/YIMnationsוֵאלֹהָיו׃ve/lo/HAYVand its gods

    And what one nation in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods?

24. 24

    וַתְּכוֹנֵןvat/te/KHO/nenand You have establishedלְךָle/KHAfor Yourselfאֶת־עַמְּךָet-am/me/KHAYour peopleיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelלְךָle/KHAto Youלְעָםle/AMa peopleעַד־עוֹלָםad-o/LAMforeverוְאַתָּהve/at/TAand YouיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDהָיִיתָha/YI/tahave becomeלָהֶםla/HEMto themלֵאלֹהִים׃le/lo/HIMtheir God

    For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever: and thou, LORD, art become their God.

25. 25

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe wordאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatדִּבַּרְתָּdib/BAR/taYou have spokenעַל־עַבְדְּךָal-av/de/KHAconcerning Your servantוְעַל־בֵּיתוֹve/AL-be/TOand concerning his houseהָקֵםha/KEMestablishעַד־עוֹלָםad-o/LAMforeverוַעֲשֵׂהva/a/SEand doכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasדִּבַּרְתָּ׃dib/BAR/taYou have spoken

    And now, O LORD God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, establish it for ever, and do as thou hast said.

    וְיִגְדַּלve/yig/DALand let be greatשִׁמְךָshim/KHAYour nameעַד־עוֹלָםad-o/LAMforeverלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodעַל־יִשְׂרָאֵלal-Yis/ra/ELover Israelוּבֵיתu/VETand the house ofעַבְדְּךָav/de/KHAYour servantדָוִדDa/VIDDavidיִהְיֶהyih/YElet beנָכוֹןna/KHONestablishedלְפָנֶיךָ׃le/fa/NE/khabefore You

    And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel: and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee.

27. 27

    כִּי־אַתָּהki-at/TAfor YouיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelגָּלִיתָהga/LI/tahave uncoveredאֶת־אֹזֶןet-O/zenthe ear ofעַבְדְּךָav/de/KHAYour servantלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingבַּיִתBA/yita houseאֶבְנֶה־לָּךְev/NE-lakhI will build for youעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeמָצָאma/TSAhas foundעַבְדְּךָav/de/KHAYour servantאֶת־לִבּוֹet-lib/BOhis heartלְהִתְפַּלֵּלle/hit/pal/LELto prayאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato Youאֶת־הַתְּפִלָּהet-hat/te/fil/LAthe prayerהַזֹּאת׃haz/ZOTthis

    For thou, O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, hast revealed to thy servant, saying, I will build thee an house: therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer unto thee.

28. 28

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYO LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODאַתָּה־הוּאat/TA-huYou are Heהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוּדְבָרֶיךָu/de/va/RE/khaand Your wordsיִהְיוּyih/YUareאֱמֶתe/METtruthוַתְּדַבֵּרvat/te/dab/BERand You have spokenאֶל־עַבְדְּךָel-av/de/KHAto Your servantאֶת־הַטּוֹבָהet-hat/to/VAthe goodהַזֹּאת׃haz/ZOTthis

    And now, O Lord GOD, thou art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:

29. 29

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהוֹאֵלho/ELbe pleasedוּבָרֵךְu/va/REKHand blessאֶת־בֵּיתet-betthe house ofעַבְדְּךָav/de/KHAYour servantלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beלְעוֹלָםle/o/LAMforeverלְפָנֶיךָle/fa/NE/khabefore Youכִּי־אַתָּהki-at/TAfor Youאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYO LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODדִּבַּרְתָּdib/BAR/tayou have spokenוּמִבִּרְכָתְךָu/mib/bir/kha/te/KHAand from Your blessingיְבֹרַךְye/VO/rakhshall be blessedבֵּית־עַבְדְּךָbet-av/de/KHAthe house of Your servantלְעוֹלָם׃le/o/LAMforever

    Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.
