   Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.

   Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel.

   So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel.

   David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.

   In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.

   And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking, David cannot come in hither.

   וַיִּלְכֹּדvay/yil/KODand capturedדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidאֵת־מְצֻדַתet-me/tsu/DATthe stronghold ofצִיּוֹןTsiy/YONZionהִיאhiit isעִירirthe city ofדָּוִד׃Da/VIDDavid

   Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatכׇּל־מַכֵּהkol-mak/KEwhoever strikesיְבֻסִיYe/vu/SIa Jebusiteוְיִגַּעve/yig/GAlet him reachבַּצִּנּוֹרbats/tsin/NORthe water shaftוְאֶת־הַפִּסְחִיםve/ET-hap/pis/CHIMand the lameוְאֶת־הַעִוְרִיםve/ET-ha/iv/RIMand the blind(שנאו)shanv[שְׂנוּאֵי]se/nu/Ehated byנֶפֶשׁNE/feshthe soul ofדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeיֹאמְרוּyo/me/RUthey sayעִוֵּרiv/VERthe blindוּפִסֵּחַu/fis/SE/achand the lameלֹאlonotיָבוֹאya/VOshall comeאֶל־הַבָּיִת׃el-hab/BA/yitto the house

   And David said on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind, that are hated of David's soul, he shall be chief and captain. Wherefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.

   וַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand dweltדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidבַּמְּצֻדָהbam/me/tsu/DAin the strongholdוַיִּקְרָא־לָהּvay/yik/RA-laand called itעִירirthe city ofדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidוַיִּבֶןvay/YI/venand builtדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidסָבִיבsa/VIVround aboutמִן־הַמִּלּוֹאmin-Ham/mil/LOfrom the Milloוָבָיְתָה׃va/VAY/taand inward

   So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.

10. 10

    וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidהָלוֹךְha/LOKHgoingוְגָדוֹלve/ga/DOLand growing greatוַיהֹוָהve-Adonaiand the LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OThostsעִמּוֹ׃im/MOwith him

    And David went on, and grew great, and the LORD God of hosts was with him.

11. 11

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentחִירָםChi/RAMHiramמֶלֶךְ־צֹרME/lekh-Tsorthe king of Tyreמַלְאָכִיםmal/a/KHIMmessengersאֶל־דָּוִדel-Da/VIDto Davidוַעֲצֵיva/a/TSEand trees ofאֲרָזִיםa/ra/ZIMcedarsוְחָרָשֵׁיve/cha/ra/SHEand craftsmen ofעֵץetswoodוְחָרָשֵׁיve/cha/ra/SHEand craftsmen ofאֶבֶןE/venstoneקִירkirfor the wallוַיִּבְנוּ־בַיִתvay/yiv/NU-VA/yitand they built a houseלְדָוִד׃le/Da/VIDfor David

    And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons: and they built David an house.

12. 12

    וַיֵּדַעvay/YE/daand knewדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidכִּי־הֱכִינוֹki-he/khi/NOthat had established himיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלְמֶלֶךְle/ME/lekhkingעַל־יִשְׂרָאֵלal-Yis/ra/ELover Israelוְכִיve/KHIand thatנִשֵּׂאnis/SEhe had exaltedמַמְלַכְתּוֹmam/lakh/TOhis kingdomבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURfor the sake ofעַמּוֹam/MOhis peopleיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel's sake.

13. 13

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidעוֹדodmoreפִּלַגְשִׁיםpi/lag/SHIMconcubinesוְנָשִׁיםve/na/SHIMand wivesמִירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםmI/ru/sha/LA/yimfrom Jerusalemאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterבֹּאוֹbo/Ohis comingמֵחֶבְרוֹןme/Chev/RONfrom Hebronוַיִּוָּלְדוּvay/yiv/va/le/DUand there were bornעוֹדodyetלְדָוִדle/Da/VIDto Davidבָּנִיםba/NIMsonsוּבָנוֹת׃u/va/NOTand daughters

    And David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron: and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.

14. 14

    וְאֵלֶּהve/EL/leand theseשְׁמוֹתshe/MOTthe names ofהַיִּלֹּדִיםhay/yil/lo/DIMthose bornלוֹloto himבִּירוּשָׁלָ͏ִםbI/ru/sha/LA/yimin JerusalemשַׁמּוּעַSham/MU/aShammuaוְשׁוֹבָבve/Sho/VAVand Shobabוְנָתָןve/Na/TANand Nathanוּשְׁלֹמֹה׃u/She/lo/MOand Solomon

    And these be the names of those that were born unto him in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,

15. 15

    וְיִבְחָרve/Yiv/CHARand IbharוֶאֱלִישׁוּעַVe/e/li/SHU/aand Elishuaוְנֶפֶגve/NE/fegand Nephegוְיָפִיעַ׃ve/Ya/FI/aand Japhia

    Ibhar also, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

16. 16

    וֶאֱלִישָׁמָעVe/e/li/sha/MAand Elishamaוְאֶלְיָדָעve/El/ya/DAand Eliadaוֶאֱלִיפָלֶט׃Ve/e/li/FA/letand Eliphelet

    And Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.

17. 17

    וַיִּשְׁמְעוּvay/yish/me/Uand they heardפְלִשְׁתִּיםFe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesכִּי־מָשְׁחוּki-ma/she/CHUthat they had anointedאֶת־דָּוִדet-Da/VIDDavidלְמֶלֶךְle/ME/lekhkingעַל־יִשְׂרָאֵלal-Yis/ra/ELover Israelוַיַּעֲלוּvay/ya/a/LUand came upכׇל־פְּלִשְׁתִּיםkhol-Pe/lish/TIMall the Philistinesלְבַקֵּשׁle/vak/KESHto seekאֶת־דָּוִדet-Da/VIDDavidוַיִּשְׁמַעvay/yish/MAand heardדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidוַיֵּרֶדvay/YE/redand went downאֶל־הַמְּצוּדָה׃el-ham/me/tsu/DAto the stronghold

    But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold.

18. 18

    וּפְלִשְׁתִּיםu/Fe/lish/TIMand the PhilistinesבָּאוּBA/ucameוַיִּנָּטְשׁוּvay/yin/na/te/SHUand spread themselvesבְּעֵמֶקbe/E/mekin the valley ofרְפָאִים׃Re/fa/IMRephaim

    The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

19. 19

    וַיִּשְׁאַלvay/yish/ALand inquiredדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidבַּיהֹוָהba-Adonaiof the LORDלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהַאֶעֱלֶהha/e/e/LEshall I go upאֶל־פְּלִשְׁתִּיםel-Pe/lish/TIMto the Philistinesהֲתִתְּנֵםha/tit/te/NEMwill You give themבְּיָדִיbe/ya/DIinto my handוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־דָּוִדel-Da/VIDto Davidעֲלֵהa/LEgo upכִּי־נָתֹןki-na/TONfor giveאֶתֵּןet/TENI will giveאֶת־הַפְּלִשְׁתִּיםet-Hap/pe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesבְּיָדֶךָ׃be/ya/DE/khainto your hand

    And David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.

20. 20

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameדָוִדDa/VIDDavidבְּבַעַל־פְּרָצִיםbe/VA/al-pe/ra/TSIMto Baal-perazimוַיַּכֵּםvay/yak/KEMand he struck themשָׁםshamthereדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidפָּרַץpa/RATShas broken throughיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־אֹיְבַיet-oy/VAYmy enemiesלְפָנַיle/fa/NAYbefore meכְּפֶרֶץke/FE/retslike the breach ofמָיִםMA/yimwatersעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeקָרָאka/RAhe calledשֵׁם־הַמָּקוֹםshem-ham/ma/KOMthe name of the placeהַהוּאha/HUthatבַּעַלBA/alBaal-פְּרָצִים׃pe/ra/TSIMperazim

    And David came to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there, and said, The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baal-perazim.

21. 21

    וַיַּעַזְבוּvay/ya/az/VUand they leftשָׁםshamthereאֶת־עֲצַבֵּיהֶםet-a/tsab/be/HEMtheir imagesוַיִּשָּׂאֵםvay/yis/sa/EMand carried them offדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidוַאֲנָשָׁיו׃va/a/na/SHAYVand his men

    And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.

22. 22

    וַיֹּסִפוּvay/yo/SI/fuand addedעוֹדodagainפְּלִשְׁתִּיםPe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesלַעֲלוֹתla/a/LOTto come upוַיִּנָּטְשׁוּvay/yin/na/te/SHUand spread themselvesבְּעֵמֶקbe/E/mekin the valley ofרְפָאִים׃Re/fa/IMRephaim

    And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

23. 23

    וַיִּשְׁאַלvay/yish/ALand inquiredדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidבַּיהֹוָהba-Adonaiof the LORDוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand He saidלֹאlonotתַעֲלֶהta/a/LEyou shall go upהָסֵבha/SEVgo aroundאֶל־אַחֲרֵיהֶםel-a/cha/re/HEMbehind themוּבָאתָu/VA/taand you shall comeלָהֶםla/HEMupon themמִמּוּלmim/MULoppositeבְּכָאִים׃be/kha/IMthe balsam trees

    And when David enquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.

24. 24

    וִיהִיvi/HIand let it be(בשמעך)vashamkh[כְּשׇׁמְעֲךָ]ke/shom/a/KHAwhen you hearאֶת־קוֹלet-kolthe sound ofצְעָדָהtse/a/DAmarchingבְּרָאשֵׁיbe/ra/SHEin the tops ofהַבְּכָאִיםhab/be/kha/IMthe balsam treesאָזazthenתֶּחֱרָץte/che/RATSyou shall act quicklyכִּיkiforאָזazthenיָצָאya/TSAhas gone outיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלְפָנֶיךָle/fa/NE/khabefore youלְהַכּוֹתle/hak/KOTto strikeבְּמַחֲנֵהbe/ma/cha/NEthe camp ofפְלִשְׁתִּים׃Fe/lish/TIMthe Philistines

    And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.

25. 25

    וַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand didדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidכֵּןkensoכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasצִוָּהוּtsiv/VA/huhad commanded himיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיַּךְvay/YAKHand he struckאֶת־פְּלִשְׁתִּיםet-Pe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesמִגֶּבַעmig/GE/vafrom Gebaעַד־בֹּאֲךָad-bo/a/KHAuntil you come toגָזֶר׃GA/zerGezer

    And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer.
